Just read article on DeAndre this morning, which already knew we were in on, pretty interesting. In case anyone doesn't know he is the # 1 player in the class of 2017 - - - 7 ft 235 lbs , the article states the 3 schools he is interested in which are DUKE- - -KENTUCKY- - -KU , the blue bloods of course, stated how he played at a level significantly above anyone else at Tarkanian classic. Said he showed his stroke looked really great to beyond the 3pt line, and played physical above the rim. He has no planned visits at present & not thinking much on recruitment at the moment, but does know for sure, the 3 schools he is looking at have reputation for developing successful big men. At present KU is favorite to land Ayton at 88%- - to 12%. maybe, maybe not & I know people say ah you can't go off that, But to which I say ah when you have that overwhelming margin then that's when I say ummm yes you can, NOW this brings up the exact point I have discussed on here before. With us showing this huge of lead, then as the main recuiter- - recruiters of this kid NOW is the time to really step on the throat and stay on this kid and close this out, I mean ya I know we can't really close yeet but it is a must where we STAY ON THIS KID and don't get slack, we have to stay on these type of kids, we can't continue to let them slip through the cracks. Show them everything they want to know and see about our team, let them see how interested we are in them also. Guys, I know this really isn't where something like this would normally go/be BUT I just want to go on record as saying I couldn't be any more proud then I am of the Ladies and what they have accomplished this year in Volleyball. Now I by far don't want this to come across as a negative statement, and trying to figure how to word right, but don't think there is a right right, Sooo, with that being said here is what I want to say. No matter the outcome of the match tomorrow, these Ladies so feel very proud, be very proud. Be proud of what they have accomplished this season, after all they have done something that has never been done by the Ladies before. They have established their highest National Ranking EVER within the program which was 5th before their loss to Texas, They have achieved 30 wins so far, on the season (30-2) the defeated the # 1 team in the entire NCAA tourney, which was basically a home game for USC, showed great intensity, determination that game as well the entire season, & they have obtained the final 4, another 1st in school history, this is a team that will be remembered, and greatly appreciated by true KU fans. Now again I don't want to come across as the pessimist but it is going to take a HUGE , HUGE effort tomorrow night against Nebraska, which I feel they will give BUT will it be enough? They have a lot going against them . They will be going against the # 4? team in the tourney,& this WILL BE a home match for Nebraska, yes true not in Lincoln BUT only 59 miles away and 17,000 Nebraska fans pulling against us, very hard to beat, But they can do it, I feel they beat the #1 team in the tourney, they have played Texas very tough both times, losing in 5 the last time, goes to show they can play with anybody. I guess what I'm trying to say no matter the outcome , we need to let them know how proud we are of them for their accomplishments they have achieved. Seems a little unfair they are having to play the final four basically on one of the teams home floor, BUT really can't blame Nebraska officals OR NCAA for the way it has turned out. they also sit their sites in and advance and had no way of knowing how things would turn out. @JayHawkFanwhat he stated in the ESPN article was the reason he played at all, was he wanted to see if he could give it a go, but then went to Coach and said he wanted to sit and give time to really heal and looking at medical red-shirt. I'm sure if Coach thought because of games played he would of informed Naz of such at the time.He had surgery on the one hip in April and then the other hip a short time later, don't really look for him to transfer. Got a thought,/Question/statement.- - -I'm sitting here watching Oklahoma-Oral,Roberts and wondering, thinking out loud to myself, Guys here you have the 7th ranked team in the nation, playing at home and the arena is maybe half full. So Quiet you could hear a pin drop. I just don't get it, I just can't get it to sink in thru my head. Other programs fans want their teams to be good, want to challenge, but yet at the same time they won't come out and support those players. Ya I get it, its Oral Roberts, but I'm not accepting that, that is THEIR though mode, that's not acceptable. You want a top notch program, you wanna get to a point where you can compete regularly, but yet your a no-show to support the team. Oh sure they will come for Name games, like with us, Iowa State and such, but other times is just like today- - petty pathetic. Here is what I have yo say on this, if you want your program to actually take that next step, if your want to move up to where you can get that really big time recruit on a pretty regular bases, then as a fan you have to do your part and show that recruit that your there to back the team, make it a lunatic atmosphere, Like the Kansas, Like the Duke, Seriously, I mean if your trying to pull big time recruits and they are on campus or watching your game and they see a half full arena and like a morgue, you REALLY think that's going to help- - -going to impress? @drgnslayr Sorry to say but Perry will not be an NBA player, to small to play inside in the NBA, not enough foot speed for the outside in the NBA , Perry is a tweener , if he did anything here it would be in the D league, if he entertains any though of professional it would be overseas. Guys, here after the game multiple thoughts from the game. # 1 , for all that was wanting to see our other big's get PT now we have. Perfect opportunity for this to happen, Traylor nicked up, Lucas and his toe, and the result?- - - Eh. but that's not really meant as a huge negative, I mean they for sure didn't overwhelm me , BUT once again and I've said this time and time again, we DON'T have to have a huge scoring output from these guys & I don't think WE WILL ever get that, BUT if we can get 8-9- 10 out of a combo then we should be good. We have enough guys that can score the ball, it doesn't have to be huge. Even though Hunter was less then impressive had some blocks and just a presence works, Bragg will be fine , Cheick if we can get his body to slow down to the brain, he is going to be really good in time. Right now like was mentioned during the game throw to him and it's like a black hole, it isn't coming out, but that will come in time. # 2 really glad for Greene, surprised? Really surprised that he was back, as long as he can keep his head on straight, huge plus, the kid for sure can shoot the ball, he for sure does not lack confidence, sweet shot, This team has the components to be really good, so many weapons. & # 3. @Statmachine LET me ask you this bud, just asking don't want it to come across the wrong way, as I also understand, BUT do you feel its right because a kid is a 5 star recruit and that kid has had pretty much whatever he wants through out his high school days, do you feel that its right for a 5 star player to expect to come in to a school and just have a starting spot handed to him without working and earning it? I do feel that maybe Self feels to a certain point has a obligation to 3 and 4 year players that have put in the time to develop, he feels that obligation to play them, start them UNTIL the quote unquote 5 STAR actually shows, proves and actually earns that starting spot instead of just handed to them on a platter. It's great to have one and dones, but no matter you have to have and you need to have those 3 and 4 year solid role players also, and they bust their ass, and I personally would if it came down to it, I would just as soon as you mentioned, I would just as soon have the 3-4 year player that are willing to put in the time and work hard to get where they are and is or really cares about the school instead of a bunch of 1 and done to where they aren't even at the school long enough to care about the school, all they are is just a bunch of NBA robots, just curious, do you feel it's fair or for them to believe that they should be handed that starting spot without earning that spot, like any other player on the roster? @benshawks08 boy me too, I suffered all through the summer months, waiting for this Baseball is soooooo, boring and to think I used to Love baseball, I played baseball, actually worked out at a minor tryout for the Cincinnati Reds in the 70's was a pitcher, and a left handed pitcher at that, and in the 70's lefties were a big deal not as many as today use to love it, but now as I'm older I wonder how I ever managed it, just drags out. BUT anyways I am so ready for games, and it seems probably just me but it seem are games are really spread out, seems like we use to almost play every other night a few years back now not so much. @jaybate-1.0Agreed. I wonder about his offensive set in the league which has been discussed, but as you say, good points. Plus another thing also, if I remember Dennis Rodman wasn't really a prolific scorer, alot more of a rebounding machine and some blocking ability, so he doesn't have to be some guy that scores 15-20 a night in the NBA, there are alot of teams that will draft him just for his rebounding, his energy and shot blocking ability, and any points he scores will be just a bonus for them, will be interesting to see, but if he doesn't progress and his stock drops this year- - -who knows. @wissoxfan83 ya, I'm just curious that's all. Yes he looked pretty good, but as you say that was against a very over matched opponent They feel he really needs to develop his offensive mind set for the N.B.A. I have very mixed ideas on it. I am definitely leaning more that YES he will be gone after the 1 season, whether that will be a good decision or not. As it is well known the N.B.A. as been stated drafts on potential for the most part so with that being the case chances are he is gone, plus there are always others factors for him to consider. Using as an example if he is a projected top 10 pick, pretty good money in that and not really sure, but from being from the foreign land, really not sure about his financial situation, true he is living in the States, but I'm sure he is wanting to help his parents and give them what he can so that's an issue, the he always take a risk. Say he is projected at a pretty high spot BUT yet he returns to work on his offensive game as the NBA people says he needs, and then he is injured, gets hurt possibly screw something up bad and end up not being able to play at all, so he has to consider that, a lot to weigh out.I'm just sayin there is always a slim chance HE MAY come back for the 2nd year, if he doesn't progress like he needs to, maybe see his stock drop some. Guys, I know I will probably be hammered on this, probably be call an nut, but this is just a question/remark. How many think that it is a 100% no brainer, no doubt what so ever that Diallo is going to be a one and done at KU this year? Let me preface that like probably 99% of all also think that's probably the case BUT- - - - - if Cheick is as raw, so very raw, as Coach Self says he is, and if he is as raw as I have read by and listen to so many other former college players/now anylasts, ESPN commentators, others in the know, that also talk about how raw he is, then is there that distinct possibility, that possibly, just possibly that he return for a Sophomore year? They all talk about how he has to develop his offensive game for the NBA again sayin he is just raw, but unlimited potential. So if that's the case couldn't he just possibly return for a 2nd year? maybe add a little bulk, improve his offense? Again I like most don't think it will happen- - - BUT then again- - - -. @HighEliteMajor thank you, THAT could be maybe, at least , that would make some kind of sense, very well could be, but then this makes another question arise in which a lot of others have brought up , and I wish I could give the answer myself because I DO hate to try and second guess a coach because there is a reason they are the coach and I am who I am BUT going off the theory that you used and it is a logical reason , but that brings up this question, how are these talents ever going to be able to gain the trust if they don't play at some point you have to turn them loose, let them out, and if they make the mistake, then let them play through the mistake. THATS how you learn just as anything else In life, even in life in general when your young , your strong, bull headed, no one can tell you anything you know it all right? and you just do it the way you think is right AND YOU LEARN, you learn maybe that it wasn't right. That's the same with these 3 Coach needs to put them out let them play, if they make the mistake then they learn, they learn the next time what NOT to do or at least we hope, but they can't learn if you don't turn them loose.Play them in all kinds of situations, actually might be better to put them in a tense tough situation help them prepare for down the line, Let learn if they have to off their mistakes. I personally would not have NEAR the problem with letting them play now, get experience, make their mistakes, grow NOW. I could live with an early season loss if need be while they grow, and gain experience, would lots rather that happen now in non-conference then during the season OR in the NCAA'S if you wait until late then put them in a pressure situation, where they are really in-experienced and not knowing how to play through could prove a lot more costly. @HighEliteMajor The scenario I am trying to figure is, surposedly the guards were tired, Seldon was in foul trouble most of the game, So Svi was replacing Seldon in the rotation which leaves Vick to relieve Graham & Mason maybe not a better option but under this scenario seeing as how they said they were tired he would of been the only option during that time ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
@JayHawkFanToo No 2nd guessing to it, your not going to find a bigger supporter of Coach SELF then myself, there are ALOT and I do mean ALOT of others on this site included that are really quick to place blame on Self a guy who's teams he has coached at KU has lost 3 times in Allen since 2008 I challenge anyone to question my support of Coach self BUT all I said was, that coming out of Devonte own mouth yesterday was he was tired, and Coach Self said they got wore down, My only question was and still is Where was Vick, has to be something, like I said surely he could of spelled for a couple of minutes Why was Vick the only player other then Greene and walk on's not to touch the floor for a sec. Nothing mentioned by ANYONE about him getting discliplined or hurt by any media, coaches ANYBODY so where was he? if the guards were tired. Good input my friends, Although still haven't heard any kind of response to one question I ask on this topic, and that being Coach Self saying that our guards were pressuring the heck out of the ball in the 1st half which resulted in 15 turnovers, but he stated they got tired & to which I replied like he says they are really good, and they are BUT if they were so tired, you mean he couldn't spell them even for a couple of minutes with VICK, LaGerald never even touched the floor for 1 second, I feel pretty sure I've seen him playing the 2 for a few recently, I think he is capable enough to give them at least a couple of minutes, he could handle as well as Wayne when Wayne was/is running at the 2 spot we are not talking 6, 7 10 minutes- - we are talking 2,3,4, minutes but yet I believe he is THE ONLY player that didn't sniff the floor but yet Coach Self is saying our guards got tired and Wayne got in fould trouble, so he couldn't relieve them, somebody help me out- - -WHY?
