Soccer team starts 2-0 • Aug 22, 2018 02:12 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 @jayballer73 I'm a little worried about VB to be honest. We have made the tournament 6 straight years but I think it could end this season. Not that, that is surprising with what we have lost the past few years but with most of our assistant coaches leaving that brought in those great classes, it will be interesting to see if Ray can ride that momentum with getting a new arena shortly or does he fall back into the mediocre like he pretty much has always been outside of the past few seasons.

The women's soccer team off to their best start since 2004 and a Kansas kid is a big reason why. http://www.kwch.com/content/sports/-McClure-claims-national-Big-12-weekly-awards-491382131.html ↗

Still no word on QB race • Aug 22, 2018 03:42 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I think Bender had the best arm but I also wouldnt have been disappointed if Kendrick got the nod. As I said earlier, I'm not sure he is ready or has a good enough arm to this point. Bender has the most experience and the best arm. That's probably why he won the job. The offensive line is a big key to how the QB does. If returning all but one starter and all the graduate/juco transfers Beaty brought in can't get that group to improve, Beaty flat out will never cut it as a head coach at this level.

Still no word on QB race • Aug 21, 2018 09:02 PM

@jayballer73 I think Bender can be a decent QB if the line has improved. Stanley is the turnover machine if you look at the stats. He had only 4 TDs and 7 picks in almost a 100 less attempts than Bender(10 TDs, 10 INts), he also fumbled the ball more in less snaps. I think that Miles could be the future of the program but looking at his fairly modest numbers from Juco a year ago, I don't believe him to be ready. I've always thought it was Benders job to lose. Stanley IMO is the worst of the 3.

Still no word on QB race • Aug 18, 2018 02:45 AM

I hate how little Beaty tells the media and let’s them in on anything, as I’ve said no ones worried about who starts at KU football besides the fans and players/coaches. They will have another scrimmage tomorrow, that Beaty said would help. Basically this up coming week is the last week of camp. The next week is a game week where you should have just about every position figured out for the most part. Beaty offered a ā€œNo Commentā€ on whether it was still a 3 horse race. I personally just don’t see how you can’t tell who the hell is doing a better job now several weeks into camp. I also wonder if it’s down to 2 and he just doesn’t want to say. At this point i don’t care if he doesn’t even give a name just said they knew who to go with. Splitting all these reps between 3 guys can’t help the offense at all. The starting QB should be seeing 85% of the reps, that helps the offense learn timing and how to play with each other. I’ve always thought timing with receivers was a big thing. I think everyday this pisses me off more, I want Beaty to succeed but some days I wish Long would’ve just canned him at his opening presser.

Still no word on QB race • Aug 14, 2018 05:47 PM

Beaty said last week that this pat Saturdays scrimmage would help determine who will be the starter this season, maybe even take the race down to 2 guys. This is one of things I've disliked about Beaty, his inability to not only make decisions but to basically keep everything hush hush to prevent anyone form knowing. Here's the deal, I'm willing to bet that it makes no difference to Nichols State or any other team on our schedule this season who is QB. By the time we get to conference season there will be plenty of tape on whom is starting and what we are doing. I understand not wanting to give away game plans but releasing a depth chart wouldn't hurt anything IMO. I'm sure if the B12 did have guys trying to find out more about their opponents they wouldn't be doing it so early in the season or really invest a ton of time into looking at KU currently.

What Makes Missourah Folks So Ignorant • Aug 11, 2018 08:37 PM

@KUSTEVE I don’t have enough time to talk about what’s wrong with the goons in Methouri. Never had a decent experience with people from that state. I’d say KC and St. Louis are kinda separated from the rest of the state. Anything south of 70 is a total cesspool, you don’t know white trash til you’ve been around the Springfield area.

@jayballer73 I would agree that the loss of a child would be the worst. I can only imagine, my wife and I have done foster care for a number of years and we had a set of kids for a couple of years and returning them to their parents is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It was before we had our own son and we were going to adopt them, but dad got his stuff together just in the nick of time. I put one of my best friends in his grave at 16 but I still that image of my son(foster) screaming for me at the top of his lungs chasing us down the driveway. That’s probably as heart broken as I have been and I bet that a fraction of the heart break a person would feel knowing that they are not only gone from your life but gone from the world. I’m proud to be a Christian, but my faith is tired and has been tested many times. You’re easily one of the best people on here (not knock anyone else), I’m glad to have gotten to know you and am happy to consider you a friend.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 05:06 PM

@justanotherfan I agree a 100% buddy. I just dont think HEM is a racist and I personally don't agree with calling someone that who has different views than you, that's my point. Not that if you don't use racial slurs you can't be racist. It's a common thing these days from Democrats either you agree with them or you're a racist. There is very little to no middle ground. I didn't like Obama's healthcare or Foreign policy, I am considered a racist for doing so. I honestly think Obama and I would get along fine talking about basketball and whatnot, I'd be happy to meet him. I have no ill will towards him, i just didn't agree with some of his political agenda. I personally am an Independent, Patriot that stands for justice and Equality. This will be my last post on thread, someone else can have the last word if they want no biggie, good day to everyone.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 04:53 AM

Maybe this thread should be closed, I’ve already said more on politics and crap I usually don’t waste my time with. I still love everyone on this thread regardless of their opinions that I agree or disagree with, I just gonna move on and stick to sports my friends.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 04:49 AM

@approxinfinity I 100% agree with what Jim Brown said in the article, it’s their right to do the protest, I just wouldn’t do it that way. Maybe HEM did go to far with some of what he wrote in your opinion and that’s fine but your vehicle comment is no different than what people are saying and doing to Dak, they want people to hate him for not kneeling. That’s the issue with politics and parties, one side can do it but the other side can’t. I do my best to respect others opinions even it’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I’ll be the first to admit I do fail at it from time to time.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 04:33 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I honestly don’t think you even know what your point is. HEM is posting stuff that Danr doesn’t agree with (which is perfectly fine) so Danr is waiting for HEM to post some racial slurs, insinuating that he is racist. HEM hasn’t posted anything racist or used racial slurs on here, that would make a person believe he is in fact racist. Danr believes he is racist because they don’t see the kneeling situation the same. Ik Danr is a Democrat(I’m not a republican, don’t call me one please) he has even said it I believe. I personally and several other people that I know are to, are tired of hearing how anyone that ever disagrees with a Democrat is ā€œ racistā€. That IMO is part of the reason Trump won, that’s been the only argument Democrats have had for the last 3 elections, you cant vote for the other guy he’s racist. Hell even Ben Carson was called racist because he was a republican. I’m willing to bet right now regardless of who the republican nominee is for the next election I guarantee you they will be called racist repeatedly from the left regardless of race, gender or religion. I believe that to not be a nice or logical thing to do. I enjoy talking with you @Crimsonorblue22 and @DanR but I’m standing up for people that are being insulted and called racist daily in this country for no other reason than disagreeing with a Democrat.

NCAA Rule Changes- Oh boyyy • Aug 09, 2018 03:49 AM

I actually agree with the whole, if you don’t get picked, you can return thing. If you don’t get paid to play it shouldn’t matter. Now the agent thing is a little scary as @KUSTEVE has said, how much will it be about recruiting an agent rather than a player. It will interesting to see how it effects a school like UK, that’s loads up, OADs. Most schools will likely have an agent that caters to them in some way. I really think doing away with the OAD rule would fix a good deal of the issues that are in CBB right now. I’ve read that the NBA players want it to help the older guys keep a roster spot longer but IMO if one year of another player not being in the league is gonna make you broke or jobless, that extra year isn’t gonna make a huge difference.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 03:37 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I don’t think insulting people or accusations of racism is standing up for anyone especially when he hasn’t post anything remotely racist. I’m fine if folks disagree but that’s a little out there I think. I’m a little worried your gonna start calling me racial slurs for disagreeing with you, after all that makes you a racist.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 02:58 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 yes because insinuating that someone is racist is nice, wow.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 02:37 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 riiight lol

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Aug 09, 2018 12:59 AM

DanR said:

I keep checking this thread occasionally to see if HEM in dropped the N word yet. Nope. Uses "kneelers" instead.

Idk that I’d go that far, I wouldn’t say I agree with all that HEM has posted but a difference of opinion doesn’t make someone racist. I don’t get the why the left is that way. ā€œYou see it our way or you’re a racist, bigot nazi!ā€. Especially from the group that wants to take away free speech and the right to bare arms, which is exactly what the nazi did. Imagine businesses working that way, if you use Jim’s plumbing you’re a racist nazi! , only use Jeff’s plumbing.

@HighEliteMajor I actually agree about the gun control, being a independent. I think we need to take steps to prevent school shootings and what not but disarming millions of law abiding citizen won't help. They ain't gonna go to south Chicago or South Boston, east St. Louis and Compton to get the guns from there because it would turn into a war zone. Here is a great video on the matter.

@Texas-Hawk-10 It will be interesting to see how Jimbo does there, it kinda surprised me he left FSU.

Roy Court • Aug 04, 2018 10:51 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I agree with not changing the court name or something silly like Self-Allen fieldhouse. Ik my booster buddies say they were going to name something after Williams before he decided to leave. A practice facility would be okay. I guess it’s a nice problem to have, having so many good coaches that we run outta things to name lol.

Roy Court • Aug 04, 2018 08:38 PM

If Self wins another title we better name more than a road after him, I’d be fine with naming the road after him right now. I’m not sure what to name after him but a road seems pretty small if he wins another title, you could argue he’s our best coach ever.

Getting closer guys • Aug 04, 2018 07:35 PM

I do the exact same thing. I get excited because I love KU athletics and college sports in general. I think this year will be interesting, does Beaty and this team come fight with their backs against the wall? I could see this team winning 1 or 0 games but I also could see them winning 5 or 6. I think we have some talented guys on this team no more excuses let’s go.

A Hypothetical • Aug 02, 2018 03:49 AM

@dylans I actually felt bad Tressel after that deal. I think firing him was a joke, some players took their championship rings and traded them for tattoos. I don’t agree with it and I realize Tressel denied it at first then it was released that he received a tip that allegedly had some of his players doing this a few months prior but it wasn’t proven by any stretch. Meanwhile in the SEC Cam Newton’s dad gets rich with no penalty (Cleared him, then changed the rules) and UNC has fake classes with no penalty. I’m not saying it was right but far worse has been done and continues to be done in collegiate athletics with no punishment. Everytime I think about stuff like this it becomes more and more obvious that the SEC and ACC are allowed to do whatever the hell they want because they make the NCAA the most money. Kinda like Terrance Jones, I believe he was the UK player with the same deal as Billy besides it took them a month and a half to find out grandma bought his car. I guess the good thing to come of all of this is that we aren’t likely to see a penalty for basketball violations. They won’t take down coach K no matter what happens, he could hand a bag of hundreds of thousands of dollars to a recruit with the NCAA and the FBI watching, and still receive no punishment whatsoever. I’d be happy if Jim Tressel was our next coach that’s forsure.

@justanotherfan That's what i was trying to get at, no gain for KU to fire him til the season is done. I wouldnt complain if they did after a loss to Nicholis state but thats it.

"Rivalry Renewed" KU-MU Border War • Aug 01, 2018 04:11 AM

@drgnslayr we have struggled so badly rebounding the last few years. We’d have 3 straight FF if we would’ve rebounded.

A Hypothetical • Aug 01, 2018 02:42 AM

I don’t see firing early to start the process deal. You can plan on firing him and getting your list of names towards seasons end.

A Hypothetical • Jul 31, 2018 12:16 AM

I doubt Beaty is fired before the seasons up baring a loss to Nicholls State but I doubt Long would keep anyone at this point. He’s gonna his guy, whomever it is.

"Rivalry Renewed" KU-MU Border War • Jul 30, 2018 03:54 AM

@drgnslayr I want it back as well, I understand why we ended it and I was okay with it but now I want an actual rivalry game back. KSU isn’t a great rivalry. There isn’t enough dislikeness or competitiveness in that game, most KU and KSU fans interact daily in our state. When we played Mizzou, KSU was the only one that got that worked up about our game vs them. We usually stomped the daylights outta them in basketball and they returned the favor in football. It just isn’t competitive enough, now KSU has gotten better in BB but we still have won a whopping 91% since 1990 and I think they are in the high 80% against us in football in the same time period. That’s not a rivalry, their our little brothers that we pick on from time to time, Mizzou is the neighbor everyone on the street wants a piece of. The showdown for relief made a shit ton of money why not so it again a few weeks later as a non conference game? I’m actually disappointed the football games took the last few years of that game off of the campuses it was better on each other’s field so let’s do a home and home in major sports.

"Rivalry Renewed" KU-MU Border War • Jul 29, 2018 11:58 PM

I side more with Sherron, I hate Missouri. I hate most of the people that I’ve met from that state. We used to race go-karts there with my niece and nephew, they do anything and everything in their power to make the locals win. I told people I thought I knew what white trash was from some of our cities but if you ain’t seen south west Missouri you ain’t seen white trash. Anyone that’s drove thru that state on 70 knows apparently they love porn and fireworks cause there are billboards every 1/4 mile for both. I’ll say KC and St. Louis are separated from how the rest of the state is but if that ain’t the butt hole of America what is? Columbia may have the least amount of diversity of any town I’ve ever been to. Including the town of 800 I used to live in. I’ve often wondered why a person that’s not white would ever even consider going to that school or state for that matter. I remember seeing shirts at ole Mizzou arena saying slavers when KU was in town or Quintrel shirts. I’d be happy to never step foot in that state past KC for as long as I live but I’d enjoy stomping their asses again.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Jul 28, 2018 02:56 AM

@mayjay some people were killed by police if that’s what you mean but it had fart fire nothing to do with the people actually protesting. Several people couldn’t follow simple rules In those cases as well. If you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. I’m not gonna say I side with the police everytime but about 80 percent of the time from the videos and stuff I’ve seen. I don’t break laws so I don’t have many encounters with police. It’s like not the people protesting are being killed, that’s why it’s different than gladiator. It’s a real a simple concept.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Jul 27, 2018 11:40 PM

@approxinfinity Now I think most that folks would agree that Trump runs his Twitter like a pissed off-teenager. That and the protest started before Trump was elected. But I really think it’s a little extreme to compare the situation to Gladiator, let’s not blow it way outta proportion people ain’t dying because of it. It’s very similar to a business, because it is a business. It’s entertainment, people are mad so they are spending their time and money on other entertainment. The players are losing customers by doing it.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Jul 27, 2018 08:45 PM

I don’t agree with the protests and haven’t watched much NFL games since. The problem is I don’t wanna see some millionaire whining about he’s oppressed. If things are that bad for you in this country, move out. I don’t get it man up, people are just too lazy to leave, no ones got a gun to their head holding them here. Not to mention if people of race have it so gosh darn bad how are you making millions? How was our last president black? It flat out doesn’t add up. Once again I’m not saying racism doesn’t exist but it several non white folks that have came from shit backgrounds and made it by not point fingers and wasting time. Its tough in the world these days no doubt but most white folks I know gotta grind and work just like everyone else.I don’t want to deal with politics everytime I turn on the TV or drive down the road. Obviously oppression is defined differently by people as @mayjay said but I just a Twitter post today that said all you have to do is mark caucasian on a job app and you get it. From what I see on Facebook and Twitter, hundreds of thousands of people, maybe even millions think because I’m white I went to the same college as my dad for free, got a BMW and a $500,000 house, I’m just waiting for pop to retire so I can be CEO. Some of it is flat-out laughable and it’s funny to me because these athletes got more opportunities and chances than most because they were good at silly game. I personally don’t care if you wanna fight for what you believe in but not standing while we present our flag, which stands for those freedoms you are using to protest is pretty idiotic when you think about it. If you want to change the world, be the the change. If you see something wrong, try and do something constructive to fix not get media attention after all you’re millionaire (I give Kaepernick credit because he actually has put money forward to help kids in bad neighborhoods, but he’s still a fool because he opposes oppression while wearing Castro shirts). That and as stated the country pays these teams to show our colors and flag. @approxinfinity So would it be ok for you to tell off Trump or Hillary supporters at your job causing lost business and be pissed if you got fired?

Here with a heavy heart today • Jul 27, 2018 08:10 PM

@jayballer73 that’s all you gotta do in this day and age. Too many pantywaist judges in the system, like the babysitter that killed a 9 month old up around your neck of the woods is gonna get less than 10 years in jail for it. Bring back trees and ropes.

HEM: Semi-Regular Observations • Jul 27, 2018 05:14 AM

@mayjay I guess I don’t really think that way, maybe it’s because I grew up kids that were several different races. I’m not saying what you said doesn’t happen but I’m not worried or keeping an extra eye on anyone because they are black or any other race. I work with mostly white people and Hispanics, we don’t point out a black person or treat them any differently when they come in. Like I said I think racism is still a thing for sure but me being white in Atlanta or Indianapolis wasn’t a good thing at all. I was experiencing what you’re talking about where you walk in and everybody in the place is mean mugging you.
