The Designer likes Bragg • Jun 17, 2015 06:42 PM

@justanotherfan I think what I had in my feeble little mind originally was a couple of Roy's teams, where we (KU) either started the season ranked #1 , or achieved that very early and just blew the doors off of everyone. Please don't make me say Arizona.

Crap! Too late.

But, Roy or Bill, I've always felt (and statistics probably won't prove me out) that we have underperformed as favorites and overachieved as underdogs.

The Designer likes Bragg • Jun 17, 2015 04:32 PM

@justanotherfan I guess we have different ideas of a what a perfect storm is, and that's ok. I was thinking more along the lines of a juggernaut hurricane that gathers "steam" as it goes along and by the end of the season it's a category 5 hurricane wiping out everything in its path. I felt that the 2008 team was good, and they did very well in the tournament (although a BIG scare by Davidson) and the championship game was not looking very good at all until the overtime.

Does Lebron EVER Not Walk? • Jun 17, 2015 02:39 PM

@jaybate-1.0 In his mind, the basketball court is equal to water.

The Designer likes Bragg • Jun 17, 2015 02:33 PM

@DoubleDD If I paid you a fair amount, would you please retract the "perfect storm" statement? We suck as a "PS" team. We are pretty good at coming in under the radar though.

Wonder how Wiggins would be doing if he was still a Jayhawk?

JoJo White in the H O F. • Jun 14, 2015 09:23 PM

Take the high road. Hecklers only make themselves look stupid.

RICO GATHERS ARRESTED AT WALMART. • Jun 13, 2015 08:09 PM

@KUSTEVE The only time I've ever really considered shoplifting is EVERY time I go to Walmart. I don't really like waiting in line for 6 hours because they have 3 cashiers for 1500 customers.

Ksu vs mizzou • Jun 12, 2015 07:57 PM

@drgnslayr Our little buddy was probably referring to East St Louis, Il. :police_car:

But more likely, as you stated, he needs a geography lesson.

SASHA RETIRES • Jun 10, 2015 02:07 PM

@drgnslayr Can you plow a field all day long
and catch catfish from dusk 'til dawn?
Make your own whiskey and your own smoke, too
Ain't too many things ole @drgnslayr can't do.

He grows good ol tomatoes and homemade wine
And a @drgnslayr boy can survive...
Country folks can survive

Because you can't starve him out,
and you can't make him run
'Cause @drgnslayr man was raised on shotgun
And he says grace and he says Ma'am
And if you ain't into that he don't give a damn.

SASHA RETIRES • Jun 10, 2015 11:22 AM

@Statmachine No wonder he never gets any playing time.

SASHA RETIRES • Jun 09, 2015 07:32 PM

@wrwlumpy Who mows Self's yard? It looks stupid.

Greg Marshall to Iowa State? • Jun 06, 2015 01:14 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Come on man, that pic is obviously photoshopped.

There's not NEARLY enough forehead to be real.

Did Ford Survive? • Jun 05, 2015 06:25 PM

@konkeyDong Awww - that's too sensible. Let's do a Wichita State - play absolutely nobody for 40 games and have the whole world tell us how incredibly special we are.

Did Ford Survive? • Jun 05, 2015 02:37 PM

@VailHawk i'm not too sure about the whole "strong schedule" thing - ours has been stronger than just about everyone else's the past few years and it ain't panning out too well for us.

Let's roll over some wussies.

I'd love to see an 8 second clock.

Kind of like they do in bull riding.

Eight seconds to throw up a trey, weave in for a quick layup and maybe a free throw. That would make for an exciting game.

And no time outs. Ever.

And no substitutions.

Now we got us a GAME.

@wrwlumpy "Jimmy - if you don't keep this dam* ball out of my garden, you're going to need more than that basket to protect yourself. "

@JayHawkFanToo My personal opinion is that we can, when necessary, discuss about any topic that anyone wants to discuss as long as we keep it grown up and civil.

The one-upper • Jun 02, 2015 01:43 AM

@DoubleDD Walking through the woods with no gun in deer season. Were there banjos involved?

The one-upper • Jun 01, 2015 04:57 PM

You're writing a book? What a coincidence! I am also writing a book. It's going to be the greatest book ever written. It will outsell every book ever written, including The Bible.

Good luck with your little story.

Lol

This is a good reminder to me not to be that guy.....

Got mine in the mail yesterday! (Black - sorry @HawksWin, it goes with everything!)

I think I'll wear it to church this morning......

!!!SURVIVOR!!! • May 30, 2015 12:31 PM

@VailHawk I've never seen the Sopranos, but hopefully I'll DVR The Voice or anything else all season long from now on. It's kind of lame on my part and I should stick with it and watch the whole game, no matter how it's going.

BG 12 Tournament thru 2020 • May 30, 2015 12:26 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 OK - I'll reclassify - she's my favorite person that I've never had any correspondence with......

(women) :princess:

!!!SURVIVOR!!! • May 29, 2015 12:30 PM

@VailHawk Your conclusions are probably spot on. I've been known (the past couple of seasons) to turn a "beatdown" game off and turn over to The Voice. At my age, I don't want to watch 20 point blowouts where we're on the wrong end of things. And I do have a serious man crush on Blake Shelton. And a even more serious crush on Christina. And Shakira......

BG 12 Tournament thru 2020 • May 29, 2015 12:26 PM

@drgnslayr Your wife is my favorite person that I've never met !

A one liner Topic • May 29, 2015 12:24 PM

@drgnslayr Kind of funny that the state of Missouri would name one of it's biggest and most prestigious cities after the state of KANSAS.

!!!SURVIVOR!!! • May 28, 2015 09:21 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 You have a good memory!! If they are on at the same time, I'll DVR one of them !!! lol

!!!SURVIVOR!!! • May 28, 2015 07:11 PM

@RockChalkinTexas I've never seen the first episode of any Survivor show, but I guess that will change...

New Big12 Rule Change for Court Storming? • May 28, 2015 06:02 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 "Court Storming" and chanting " OVER-RATED " only shows the ineptness of the home crowd. In whatever sport. Like @Lulufulu said, it's dangerous, classless and stupid. It (court storming) says " We never really THOUGHT we could beat you, but the stars aligned this one day and we actually won ". The overrated chant is one of my pet peeves. The crowd assumes that the other team MUST be overrated, otherwise "we" never would have been able to beat them.

MEMORIAL DAY FLOODING • May 28, 2015 11:32 AM

@dylans WOW! Baseball sized hail is pretty dang scary! I hope everyone is safe and that any damage you sustained is taken care of quickly. Yikes!

@dylans lol - agree on "whiny and annoying". And recruiting. I guess I just figured if someone was a really good coach, I'd like to have him on our sidelines. But there are plenty of non whiny & annoying ones to go around!

MEMORIAL DAY FLOODING • May 27, 2015 03:53 PM

@RockChalkinTexas I love Marble Falls. If I could talk my kids into moving there (or close by), I'd be there in a heartbeat.

@dylans So now I'm a little confused. If he can coach, why wouldn't you want him on KU's sidelines?

MEMORIAL DAY FLOODING • May 27, 2015 01:22 PM

@RockChalkinTexas I think we've talked about this before, and my dad lives relatively close to you. He called last night and told me about all the craziness (and tragedy) going on down in Texas now. It's good that Travis is finally getting some water, although they still can't get much going in the lake that he knows and loves - Lake Buchanan. Maybe someone could divert some of that extra water over there !

Off-Season Pop Quiz • May 23, 2015 12:56 PM

1) No clue

2) They LOOK like mushrooms and they cook up very nicely with a little butter and wine. (Just kidding kids - don't try this at home)

3) The Wizard of Oz. Yes, for real.

4) One seems doable.

@globaljaybird "Royal George" is perfectly legit.

He used to play third base for KC.

LATE NITE AT THE WUG. • May 22, 2015 06:02 PM

@wrwlumpy I ALWAYS feel dirty after blindly clicking on a link and finding out it's THAT place. Blah. Yuck.

Driving I-70 Eastbound to land of Ahhhh's • May 22, 2015 02:34 PM

@drgnslayr "I’m constantly walking behind my wife turning off lights and devices because I hate wasting energy."

Yeah.

I'm sure that's the reason you're constantly walking behind your wife....

Driving I-70 Eastbound to land of Ahhhh's • May 21, 2015 06:54 PM

@VailHawk All that and some KU basketball - we have a winning formula!

Driving I-70 Eastbound to land of Ahhhh's • May 21, 2015 06:50 PM

@VailHawk We spent a week in Silverthorne a few years ago and LOVED it. The weather was picture perfect ( it was summer though! ) , light mountain breezes, NO BUGS. I wanted to move there for about 5 years. Well, I guess I still do.......

@DanR They're both awesome - for reasons I don't understand though, I think I like the PD version the best. You can definitely count on me for one.

@Kcmatt7 That's definitely one way to look at it. I'd personally prefer to have the players around 3+ seasons.

@RockChalkinTexas Good for the NBA, not so much for KU.

@HawksWin I hope he's not another Embiid. I'd prefer someone who would stick around a while.

So the coach left. Now What? • May 15, 2015 03:07 AM

@DoubleDD In my mind, Roy IS a KU legend. Besides the Larry Brown quickie, we (KU) had been in a bit of funk under Ted Owens for a few years. (Btw, I love Ted Owens - I recently read his book " At the Hang Up " and it was really inspiring to me to find out what a hard working, loyal, dedicated Christian man he is.)

Anyway, Ol Roy brought KU back into the national limelight and kind of (re)paved the way for Bill Self. Roy was, and to some extent still is, a great ambassador for KU. I doubt if he's ever said a bad word about KU, players or fans. Well, count out Al Bohl.............

So the coach left. Now What? • May 14, 2015 01:15 PM

@drgnslayr I swear I'm in the twilight zone - I would have bet a bazillion dollars that Self was the eighth coach. I know there were a couple of temporary "fill-ins" - Engleman , Hamilton... Regardless - it has to be right up there in WOW factor with Self's home court record and the fact that he's got more consecutive conference titles than home losses.

I looked up a bunch of other college's coaching history a while back and most of them had 18-25 (or so) coaches in their history. I gueus it's a pretty good job.....

Buckets Dream • May 09, 2015 08:55 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 lol - i get better looking, but my vision gets worse. Hmmmm.

What are the little icons supposed to be?

Buckets Dream • May 09, 2015 08:53 PM

@drgnslayr I'm 56 as well ! Will be 57 in July.

It's weird, I get better looking all the time....

@Crimsonorblue22 yeah - i'm still here. A combination of being busy and not really seeing too much KU stuff that I am excited enough about to comment on lately.

I'm ready for some ACTION. Even football. I have been watching the Royals, but man they stunk the place up last night!

@dylans said:

Ballock says he’s fired up about the KU offer but in no hurry to end his recruitment at this time.

“Obviously, my heart is going to be there. Overall, it’s not about that. It’s about where you fit the best,”

I don't like this guy.

We have no use for someone who is a good ball player AND smart. :smirk:

@HighEliteMajor LOL - I knew you weren't going anywhere - not with the team we're going to have this year!!
