He hit home runs 699 and 700 tonight. In the first four innings no less ! Great way to wrap up a career.
Singer had a really nice outing tonight against Seattle. Only allowed one run on a solo HR, 5 hits and threw 8 strikeouts in seven innings.
This is turning into a nightmare scenario for Mariners fans. Last week the M's were in good shape for a wild card berth, and headed out on a road trip against three ball clubs with losing records.
Instead they've gone 3-7 in their last 10 games, their three best hitters (in an otherwise weak-hitting lineup) have been out with injuries, and the normally solid pitching has suddenly hit a wall. What's worse, they've booted the ball all over the place lately despite their league-best fielding percentage. Oh yeah, and Baltimore is on a hot streak again and breathing down their necks for that last wild card spot.
Stressful times, with less than two weeks to go in the regular season. Don't know if I can handle a 21st straight year without making the playoffs.
Same here...first half was a hot mess. Way too many giveaways. Heard we looked a little better in the second half.
If it's any consolation, England and Wales didn't look so good in their losses either. Meanwhile, Iran beat Uruguay, who's arguably the third best team in South America after Brazil and Argentina. It's anyone's guess who advances out of this group to the knockout round in December. But I'm not holding my breath for the USMNT if they play like they did today.

As a native Kansas Citian who was indoctrinated to hate the Yankees and Cardinals, I find myself with an uneasy feeling.
I'm rooting for Aaron Judge to break the AL home run record and Pujols to get to 700. Is this normal ?

@DanR Not saying I'd drive all that way just for a Runza. It was just something that caught my taste buds when I was there a few years ago. Had never had one before that...shoot, I hadn't even heard of a runza before then. Guess it's a Nebraska thing.

That Carlos Santana-for-Wyatt Mills trade sure didn't work out, even if the Mariners had to pick up a big chunk of his paycheck. Salary dump?
Santana just hit two more HRs today, including a grand slam. 15 since the Royals traded him in midseason.
(And he's still not hitting .200. When somebody trots out the old cliche "All he does is hit home runs", they're not kidding. )

Also, KU received 5 votes in the coaches poll this week. I'm assuming it's the first time since 2009 that KU has received votes in a football poll.
Can't ever remember a time when ESPN did a GameDay for a game that was on Fox. Maybe they'll be at the ISU game if we beat Duke. Our schedule kinda works against us in that regard. We don't have any home games with the bigger name teams in the B12 (a/k/a TV ratings draws) until later in the season. Don't know what our record will be by then. Fingers crossed.

It was really disappointing that they sucked the entire time I was in school.
Terry Allen years - not a lot to cheer about then either. At least I saw them beat OU in person. Been awhile.
We had one good year while I was there during the (first) Fambrough era with David Jaynes at QB. Went to the Liberty Bowl and lost to Lou Holtz's NC State team.
Damn shame that the Duke game's on FS1. We deserve to be on ESPN College GameDay
