I don't want the facts to ruin a good narrative but look at the FT's attempted and fouls called the last time we played Duke.

@nuleafjhawk I'd say we need to work on our first half offense.
Even though I have been the leading proponent of the theory of the Duke whistle over the years, I am beginning to rethink the position. After all it's just a theory at this point. Nothing has ever been proven factually that it occurs.
I don't have time to go back and research our games against Duke, but we've been relatively successful against them. We had an NCAA win against them in the early 2000's. Beat them in Chicago several years back, beat them in the final four in 1988. I may be forgetting others. I can really think of only two games where the 'Duke whistle' got us. In Maui a few years ago and in the final four in 1986. The Badgers got it in 2015 big time, but even then, we finished the 1st half with just a few fouls against us and Duke in foul trouble. NC game in 91 I think we just got hot, made it to the finals and got beat by a much better team. No whistle problem there.
Maybe it's age, newfound maturity, or whatever, but I'm moving past the theory because it just leaves for excuse making when we lose.
KU gets the KU whistle according to fans of other teams. We mustn't forget that. Our epic win against OU aided by the sideline non call.
As for the game, I am always smarting after a KU loss, and am doing so right now. My fears from the offseason that we might struggle inside with the loss of Perry Ellis were the topic of discussion after the IU game. It's still a fear of mine. Where will we find points in the paint?
Our depth problem concerns me. I know the whistle happy officials had something to do with it, but when they announced Tyler was coming into the game, I was really shocked. We're pretty thin on the bench and when a foul fest happens, well, we might be exposed.
I just hope the officials don't ruin the game. The match the other night was really a terrific game which was marred by their whistles. I believe if they call the normal amount of fouls they still would have made their threes, we still would have bad balled our way to an even game. I would just love to see a big game where we don't have to talk about officials.
So Duke losing their guys to injury, defensive stalwarts in the backcourt means we get Duke by a couple of points 78-76.
I hope tonight doesn't give us new evidence
47 point outburst against the Lakers!
My Grandmother lived right in the middle of the map in a town called Pittsboro. When she got ill with cancer she was treated at Duke hospital. Grandpa spent a lot of time in the cafeteria at Duke hospital and befriended a worker there named James Worthy! True story. I really hate their basketball team, but the university has a place in my heart for personal reasons.
@wrwlumpy Grayson's probably tripping them in practice.
I just had a thought. We gave up 10 and 3 points. Maybe that had a lot to do with us losing this game. I can't remember the last time we gave up 10 and 3 points.
@jaybate-1.0 Just guessing he got tired of the bickering his posts seemed to inspire. I always liked his stuff, well almost always. Maybe he'll show up again. People come and go.
Thanks officials for ruining a game between two good basketball teams. They truly took this game out of the hands of the players and coaches with their inconsistent calls. I don't even know if we would have won if the game had been called better, but it's a shame that their ineptness caused this to happen.
JNewell said we didn't have a long bench, but I never thought we'd have to use Tyler in crunch time
@BeddieKU23 Nothing wrong with that in my view
OK, do we foul, or play D and try to score with 5 seconds left?
1/2 of their made shots are 3's
I think Bilas wants Indiana to win.
@jaybate-1.0 Blackmon heard you. He's quite the player.
Calling JJ
Sink em LL
Sure would like those two points back from the shot clock violation.
Now, guard the 3 point line please!
Just went back and watched, total phantom call against Mason wraps this one up.
We didn't guard the line and our rebounding stunk,
But goodness, these referees.
Frank is just beastly
How can they call 25 freaking fouls on a college basketball team? And if we have to foul to catch up, we'll top 30.
We're still not in the bonus.
Mason got fouled before the goaltend
We're still not in the bonus, they're 1 foul from the double bonus I think.
Foul trouble is going to be a big story for us tonight I'm afraid.
This run started on a crap call against Mason
I guess players are not allowed to touch the ball while a player of the other team is in possession of it.
HOw'd we score after the Timeout?
@DanR Send coach a text
Bragg scored his 8th point about an hour ago, and nothing since.
If you're going to foul them, leave no doubt.
Unbelievable bad call against Graham
1st time this year I'm really ticked.
That Graham Mason show folks, enjoy it while we've got it.
That's our ball Mr. blind official
I swear if ESPN reduces the screen once more.....
We must be wearing our cleats because we're not slipping much tonight.
Embiid scored 25 tonights wrapping up Rookie of the Year honors.
@kjayhawks I'll like your response if you tell me what that means!
There's a lot of IU fans who would love to show Crean the door, even after their Big1G championship last year.
I wonder if Crean remembers losing by 41 points in the 2nd half of a final four game against KU?
This game kind of feels like we're losing.
Sveeeeet
The first basketball run of the year!
I think Graham just got screwed on that call. Never saw the replay up close, but his body language said a lot.
@brooksmd Not sure. He was very active and then gets put on the bench, but then brought back in shortly thereafter.
JJ two pretty quick hooks tonight.
That was an awesome block by JJ. He probably was talking about that too.
JJ scored, now he's talking. I hear he's really good at talking.
@DanR Not sure if you watched the previous game, but there was slipping happening in that game too.
