@ralster Except Okafor didn't come from Minnesota.
Make a list of the board heavies so we know who can comment and who can't!!!
@jaybate-1.0 Seriously, I'm still on you about your shoe theories. So what you're saying is:
Crappy team GM: "I'd like to draft Wiggins."
Crappy team pres: "You can't draft him, he's wearing the wrong shoes."
Crappy team GM: "OK, we'll find a lesser player who is wearing the right shoes."
Crappy team Pres: "That's what you should do because then we'll be crappy again and maybe the best player next year will be wearing the right shoes and we can draft him."
Maybe I'm naive to the way things works, or maybe you are a conspiracy theorist by nature. Maybe our guys aren't quite good enough to get significant PT in the league.
Now if you want to talk conspiracy theories, I'm willing to believe that there is a Duke bias out there and even a bias out there to see certain teams win. In other words after Monday night, there's got to be a system that is influencing these results. If I was a neutral fan Monday I would have turned that game off before it ended. I did two years ago when Michigan was mauled by Louisville with referee assistance. I didn't even watch last years game, nor did I watch Butler-Uconn, and most of Butler-Duke. I'm tired of seeing these results that seemingly favor teams I and most of us dislike.
Sorry @Bosthawk, I know this was a Perry thread. I hope he returns obviously. The writers are giving us a great chance to do well next year if he returns, I saw one preseason poll that had us 4th, maybe a tad high, but maybe not. I don't know if Perry plays much at all in the NBA.
We'll be allright!
Wow, nice scoop, well, bad scoop. If Perry isn't back, we might fall to the NCAA bubble.
For what it's worth, here's the skinny on KU according to Jeff Eisenberg at Yahoo. He did one of those looks at next years top 20. He has us 6th and assumes Ellis stays.
- Kansas:
Key losses: F Kelly Oubre, F Cliff Alexander (projected to leave)
Key returners: G Frank Mason, G Wayne Selden, F Perry Ellis, G Devonte Graham, F Jamari Traylor, F Landen Lucas, G Brannen Greene G Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk
Notable newcomers: F Carlton Bragg
Outlook: Thanks to the anticipated return of point guards Frank Mason and Devonte Graham and wings Wayne Selden, Brannen Greene and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, Kansas appears pretty loaded on the perimeter. What will determine whether the Jayhawks extend their Big 12 title streak and make a deeper NCAA tournament run next March is how they address a series of questions about their frontcourt. Will all-conference forward Perry Ellis return for his senior season? Can heralded incoming freshman Carlton Bragg make an immediate impact? Will Kansas further bolster its frontcourt by landing spring targets Stephen Zimmerman, Cheick Diallo or Thon Maker? The return of Ellis would be critical because he was Kansasβ lone low-post scoring threat this past season. Undersized forward Jamari Traylor and reserves Landen Lucas and Hunter Mickelson are all back too, but each are better suited for backup roles. If Ellis returns and Kansas adds another big man to its class, the Jayhawks could be poised for a special season. If Ellis unexpectedly turns pro, there will be pressure on Bragg and any other incoming freshmen to develop a college-ready low-post game quickly.
I never think of KU as a JUCO destination, but until this recruiting ship gets righted, what about it? I don't follow recruiting too much, but are there any JUCO guys? Have we had JUCO's? Mario Little I think?? Roy wasn't adverse to signing some.
The fact is 2 of the last 4 champs have done so with OAD's. Before that, not so much. The landscape has changed dramatically and until the NCAA/NBA somehow agree to end this lunacy it is what is, so bring on all of the guys mentioned above. We need front court help to go with our experienced guards.
It's all kind of disheartening.
Right now, she is interested in a lot of schools, actually right over by you in Hammond for one. So we'll see. She's only a junior so she's got some time to figure it out.
Congrats, I knew I couldn't win, but I did pick all final four teams correctly, but believe it or not, chose against UW, and had Kentucky winning over Duke. I'm still too p-ed off to go and look at my bracket!
Thanks Brooks, just got in at midnight after leaving at 8 AM! We did stop and hike for 2 hours in the Arkansas Mts. I drove the entire way, wife and daughter don't drive stick, and they wisely, at least for this trip, didn't want to learn!
Yet UW fouled less than any team in the country. Bo has players hold tennis balls in their hands on defensive drills. This of course makes it impossible to grab guys and teaches proper defensive technique.
The cheap shotting got me adding up what's happened to KU, and then UW. Perry gets walloped, no flagrant, and as I recall, not even a foul, and definitely not any fightback from UW.
Now in the tourney, against UNC, Kaminsky gets walloped in the face, no foul, Badgers finish game on a 33-19 run.
Against AZ, another Badger, Gasser I believe, gets walloped in the face, no foul called,
Against Kentucky, Gasser again infamously, gets walloped in the face, no foul called, they watch replay for flagrant one, not even that.
Finally last night, Gasser for the hat trick, 3 games, 3 wallops, no fouls called. He had to leave last nights game for a spell.
Dekker gets creamed in the face, knocked woozy, had to go kneel down on the sideline. No foul called. Then as the officials bring Duke back into the game, Allen jumps into Koenig, elbows him in the face and the officials said Koenig fouled him!
That's 7 wallops in the face over the last 4 games with nary a foul called on any of the offenders.
I'm still so pissed that college basketball has gotten this bad and it may have cost a team I care about a lot a chance at winning a championship.
I just may figure out who wins college championships in the ESPN era. It might be an interesting study. More on that later.
Against
I turned it off as soon as it was over as well. I saw nothing afterwards. I'll read about it. Bo ought to go off on the NCAA, he really should. This crap has been going on since our final four game in Dallas in 1986 when the refs called 28 fouls against KU and 14 against Duke.
I just threw a couch on fire out my hotel window.
Imagine how you'd feel if you were a diehard badger fan!
Thanks! Gonna be a beautiful day. God's good. It's just a game that we all happen to be insane about. Life goes on!
Fellas, thanks for all of your badger love. Duke is too good when aided by zebras. We were up 9 and they called TO and then the whistle started blowing. Just tough to beat that. But I'd rather lose to duke than the team the other night.
Ya'll are awesome friends.
Defense, defense
DId you hear the announcer yell on their missed layup "NO FOUL CALLED!" like he was pissed.
Figures.....idiots
Winslow was out, but the refs aren't suppposeds to see it
Turned into a classic aided by some dubious officiating.
What I've learned from this team is they won't panic. They will overcome the officiating
The fix is in. what a bunch of bull
It's like we got a 9 point lead and three minutes later Duke is in the double bonus.
Me today with my daughter at, well, you know!!
bull crap
@approxinfinity They did show the UW union once or twice
That kid from duke allen is scrappy
She's there with Dukie V who is starting to fight back tears.
@approxinfinity I love that kid
@VailHawk No clue what happened for a foul there?
Whoa, Crimson, just saw the Royals score, really took it to my Sox today!
Yes, Gasser earlier. The other night when they cheap shotted Gasser we ended the game on a 15-4 run. It was incredible. The badgers said, heck if they're not goiong to call that on Kentucky when it was so obvious to all of americae, then they'll just take matters into their own hands. Decker drove it hard to the hole the next posession and the ballgame was in the books!
Refs don't like koenig this half
Annihilate them
Humiliate them
Embarrass them
bury them!!!
That was a surprise to me. There's also a large unfinished portion south of Fort Smith down to Texarkana
And even then, the interstate goes straight west which means you have to take a right turn and go north. And then the interstate ends for about 15-20 miles. Pretty drive, just a long painful drive.
Too late, we already drove here, but I'll take it into consideration next time!
@brooksmd You ever drive from Louisiana to Lawrence? There is no good way to get here.
Best last 2 minutes of regulation? 2008!
I invited them. I figured there might be some here, so why not!
Nigel didn't attempt a three all last year, but Bo challenged him to learn.
Vail, all Badgers are likeable unless they're wearing green and gold
I heard an announcer before 8 saying what UW needs to do to upset Wisconsin. I"m like, upset Duke? We just beat kentucky!
@brooksmd Frank wasn't!
Haven't convinced the girl to come here yet! To her, Kansas is a state far from home where she knows nobody. But that's what it was for me when I came.
