@lincase He is not an X and O man, but an ex coach that was too nice to be a coach, who calls the game like a buddy sitting next to you. Some of his phrases have become his trademark like MANTOMAN at the beginning of each game and always referring to Josh Smith as "Big Fella." His relationship with Bill Self and his admiration of Self doesn't hurt our brand. My favorite announcers are Bilas and Kellogg. I liked his line, "If you don't play defense for Bill Self, you don't play."
The pundits after the game made it feel as if Georgetown won. Then the anchor asked the two pundits if KU wins the Big 12. "No, KU finishes 3rd behind Texas and Oklahoma." It was good to listen to Bill Rafferty again.
Frank brought back memories of Sherron the way he drove to end the first half. SMITH IS A BIG MAN.

@Kong My daughter in DC called to tell me she was pregnant for the first time at age 37 and in the next sentence she told me she got tickets to the sold out game. She will be sitting in the same nose bleed seats you talked about. At least she got her priorities straight. She is thin now and will fit in the seats, but I told her to take binoculars.

Last year, Landon, Frank and Wayne had an amazing game, but Jamari will be missed tomorrow night.

I watched the GU/Towson game. Smith likes to get the ball and BACK BUTT his way close for a Barkley type move. Lucas handled this well against Florida's big. This will work for us if the Refs call the same fouls against the offense for the repeated BUTTING. Coach said on his radio show that our Big's will have to front him and not let him get the ball.
My daughter who lives in DC predicts that there will be more KU fans at this game than Hoyas.

This is the game where Perry got smashed in the head and tried to shoot free throws.
From Tarik Black, “In the back (locker-room area), he told us he was good,” Black said. “He said when he shot that free throw he felt like he was going with the ball." Two Hoya's fouled out and 4 others had 4 fouls. Some said the Hoyas were physical, I was at that game and thought that it moved into the "Dirty" realm. I watched the Towson game and they haven't seemed to change much, except they are better than last year.

Twitter post are saying that Jamari refused to give his ID to the cops. probably a two game suspension but Coleman could be kicked off the football team.
Back when K-10 was a 2 lane road, I got stopped by the Eudora police for speeding through town. I got out of the ticket by telling the cop that I was leaving for Vietnam Nam the next day and that all I wanted to do was see my girlfriend before the Tri Delt house locked up at 10:30. He let me go. Actually my orders weren't in effect for another two weeks.
Jamari has had one of the toughest upbringing's since Darnell. Please graduate. I know Brady had to sit out a semester for his DUI. Can't remember the player who broke in his girlfriends door.
Self has to earn his Salary in so many different ways.
Jamari was punished last year for ? and had to sit out a game we should have won. Damn. Nothing good happens at 2 in the morning.
Jamari and wide receiver Rodriguez Coleman were arrested at 2 a.m. this morning outside Oread Hotel. No further information has been released.

My favorite sign shown on tv was the final MU game. "Now you're Kentucky's bitch."
Any of my discussion only includes my re-watching the second half. I just could not watch the first half over again. Kelly was able to get two big rebounds in the comeback and seems to have a solid passing game on the break. Svi was unable to get in the lane on offense also. The ball doesn't stick with him but he's got to try and take his turn attacking to shoot or dish like his smaller brethren were doing.
Watching Gonzaga and Arizona makes me realize how small KU really is this year.
I know Self has a reason for everything. I'm not questioning any moves, but when Frank went down with the ankle and the ref made him sit out until a time out, Greene came in as Frank's replacement. With Coach playing most of the second half with Graham and the other ball handlers, why not have Svi go in. Svi even seemed surprised on the bench when that happened. Svi did have two bad turnovers earlier though. Others have earned the ability to stay in after a screw up. Like Wayne's back to back that cost us 5 points. Svi apparently hasn't earned his (stay in the game card) yet.
With HD you could almost read the lips on the older Jayhak fans as they were saying to each other, "He's gonna chew their butts tonight!" When Holly asked him after the game what he had said at halftime to Cliff, Perry and Frank, he said, "I challenged them."
Devonte is who Self put his trust in for the second half. Svi had the ball stripped and Devonte came in. As it sometimes happens, this was the piece that fit in to the comeback. As thin as Florida was on the bench they were exhausted in the second half. I was glad for both Kelly and Greene. Greene didn't screw up and Kelly started to show some aggression inside. Yeah, Ellis is a star, so is Cliff, but this is Wayne's team.
Causing turnovers is something I see Devonte doing. I hope his shoulder is ok so he can get his long arms into the passing lanes. Frank, Svi and Wayne will take care of Frasier tonight.
I also have the DVR set to record the UK/TU game right before our tip off.
If Texas loses by 32 then Basketball is broken.
@jaybate-1.0 Speaking of playing the long interior guys, I'm sure much work has been done by the coaches following the UK massacre, especially Roberts with our Three Little Bigs. There will be much correction in our game plan when we play Texas, ie, guards driving to dish. As a high school big, I hated when guards drove it into my chest. No block and I ended up with the foul.

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm saying only at this juncture, this early in the season. No one was better in the country than Wiggins at West Virginia or Embid at home against Texas.
Now we play them in the Phogg. KU is much better than last year's team at this juncture. While watching the last minute of this game I realize that Greene is not bothered by a concussion, he is just playing like he did last year. The kid needs a handle. Switch Embid and Wiggins with Svi and Cliff - better this year. Wayne is much better on defense this year and not so much on offense. Self has gone back to Defense, and has made this team a much tougher bunch. The ball is not sticking on the perimeter like last year thanks to the absence of Tharpe and the addition of Svi and Frank. Watch the last minute of the game to see why Greene is still the same.
Add five more points because of the Phogg.

I must admit I cringed at the thought of the world games after the Indy Massacre. I welcome any recruit who comes here next year that has no fear stepping onto the National and World stage. Svi needs to help the team adjust to the different rules, like blocks in the cylinder, not having the ref touch the ball before out of bounds etc...
Kentucky had the "once every four years" luxury of playing summer basketball with ten practices before a week of playing against the Dominican Republic's Nation team. They prepared for KU. Their first two game were games they could have won without a coach so KU was far behind in preparation. The Paris trip gave us a jump on team chemistry and so many things other teams could not do.

Six big 12 teams are ranked in the top 30. The lingering affect of the beat down by UK is causing doubt among voters. We win a tournament by beating RI, UT and MSU and don't move an inch in the polls. If we beat a good Florida team we might move up one, but if we lose we will drop out of the top 20. Really though, All that matters is a high seed in the tournament and Big 12 ring.
Well deserved too.
