We can update how our guys are doing here. We have quite a few populating rosters. Marcus Garrett is listed on the roster of the Heat. They have a Morris brother too. Joel in Philly, Wigs in San Fran, Devonte in Charlotte joined now by Kelly Oubre. DDot hoping to stick in my backyard here in Chicago, and his running mate, the behemoth Doke is hoping for the same in Utah. Marcus still in LaLa Land. BMac, one of my favs from his one year in town is now in Portland. Really glad for him as his extreme poverty growing up has been alleviated. Someone pointed out the Lebron hasn't won a title without a Jayhawk on the roster so the Lakers shouldn't have just cut Frank Mason. Josh Jackson seems to have staying power in the league and we're all pulling for him to succeed in Detroit. Svi is taking his sveet stroke north to Canada. Lets keep checking those box scores and updating here as the season starts up this week!
I don’t follow the NBA at all, and therefore lose out on how the guys are performing. Heck most of the time I don’t even know who they’re playing for.
Thanks for making this thread! I look forward to reading future post.
Wayne Selden made the opening roster for the Knicks
Devonte is playing with Zion now
Gotta admit, I've just been a casual NBA fan ever since the Sonics left town. I do enjoy following Jayhawks in the league though.
(And of course, the TNT post game show with Chuck, Kenny & Shaq. Usually more interesting than the games.)
@BeddieKU23 You know I was thinking about him and thought, naw, shouldn't waste time looking him up. I'd love to see him do well. Thanks for the add!
@Crimsonorblue22 Forgot about that. Thanks

Wayne making a roster popped up on my Facebook from a Jayhawk group I follow. I had no idea he was with the Knicks tbh but good to see him still trying to make it in the NBA. I had kind of thought after his last go-round that he might have to go elsewhere to play.
Still disappointing that Frank hasn't found a good home. That injury in Orlando last year was the epitome of bad timing/bad luck. I know guards his size have a low % of getting stability in the league but having seen how dominant he was at times in the G-League I still want to see him be successful. Devonte got his chance and capitalized and it seems like Frank is still chasing that same chance
Wigs with 12 points, 7 boards and 1 assist.
Wayne Selden played a year in ISRAEL I read. Bet that was nothing he had ever experienced before.
Noticed Quentin Grimes on the Knicks roster as well

Been there myself for work and can attest to it being some experience.
Oubre 14 points but ugly shooting percent. A few boards and assists
Josh Jackson 7, 4, 2 I watched this game and he had some good moments in one stretch including a really nice block.
In a head to head matchup Joel had 22, 5, 6 against Devonte who had a nice shooting night making 4 of 6 threes with 5 assists and 18 points total. Missing Zion (surprise surprise) so maybe assist opps will increase.
Selden didn't play in NY, same for Doke, the only bench guy that didn't play for Utah.
I think that about covers it for our guys last night.
Spectacular 133 point first half out west last night. Steph had 25 after 1 quarter making people calculate the possibility of breaking our Wilt's unbreakable record. He ended up with 'only' 45 which was 18 more than M. Morris and Wigs scored combined.
Marcus Garrett is officially an in the books NBA player, earning 5 scoreless minutes although he did contribute 2 assists which would be like 18.3 assists if he had played the full 48 minutes. Pretty cool a guy with his unique skill set is now an NBA player.
Graham with 21/6/6 for the Pelicans
@KirkIsMyHinrich Yeah he was fun to watch.
Busy night on the NBA scene. Sri had a nice effort scoring 8 with 3 boards. Oubre had a real nice night with 25 points off the bench. Wayne Seldes scored zero in 2 minutes. Joel Embiid off to a slowish start scoring 19 against the Nets. Doke riding the pines.
Oubre having a strong game tonight. 19 points, 8 RBs, 5-9 3's. Svi is shooting well in limited minutes with 5 points. Not gonna stay up late to see how M. Morris does in LA or BMAC in Portland.
Another good game for Devonte. 21/7/3 (+/-) +23 and a W
@KirkIsMyHinrich he's legit!
Been a few busy days so I've missed some action. Joel Embiid tonight 30 points, 18 boards. Josh Jackson was much less productive scoring 7. Wayne Selden didn't play against the Bulls who lost for the first time. Neither did Grimes. Devonte is averaging 18 points and 5 assists so far. Great to see.
Selden and Grimes have been warming the Knicks bench, hope that they can some PT.
@KirkIsMyHinrich That's awesome! I sometimes think we lose sight of how athletic these guys are.
Devonte being Devonte , sure made a little boy happy. Devonte gave the boy his Pelican game shoes WOW what a great guy, always loved the guy seemed like he was always smiling ear to ear. Will never forget his Senior speech so emotional.
Gave the boy his shoes. The kid tweeted or something saying thank you so much and that how he was now going to have to get his dad to buy Devonte's Jersey so he could wear it to every game lol. - -The boy had a regular shirt and it had Graham name on the back - -taking it Devonte must be his hero lol - -Gotta love it
Ben Mac not getting any PT in Portland
I noticed Svi got a start tonight and played pretty well with 15 points, 5 boards and 5 dimes.
Dtae vs wiggs on espn now
First pts wiggs and dtae
@Crimsonorblue22 Thanks, was going to check to see who's playing tonight.
I hope that NOL can turn it atound.
Ben Mac has not played a single minute.
I do not see Selden and Garrett on their team rosters, perhaps moved to GL.
Also, do not see Marcus on LAC roster, is he injured?
@Crimsonorblue22 I’ll have to look it up
@Crimsonorblue22 That was something
At the bulls and Knicks. Quentin Grimes just came in.
No sighting of Selden tho
BenMac still on the bench, no PT
Read where Wiggins went of for 32 last night
Yep Wiggs is good for 4-5 big games a year. He's consistent in that regard
@BeddieKU23 I think he's already met that.
Having a good season so far! Warriors are legit
Yes, Best record in NBA so far. Curry is on fire.
Sorry haven't updated stats and stuff. Our guys generally are not performing that well. Will try to list everyone this weekend and their general stats
DT had a game winning deep trey last night.
Oubre had a nice game, scored 27 points.
Dot is back with Bulls, he played a few mins but no stats.
Svi has been decent off the bench for Raptors.
BenMac and Selden still not getting any PT.
Devonte nailed a game winner in Utah tonight for the Pelicans.
Joel with a dominant return with 42 points and 14 boards. Grimes actually played 15 minutes in NY, got 3 points. Oubre with another outburst, 23 this time.
It appears that Doke has been relegated to Jazz G league, hoping to see him develop.
I think the NCAA should let Doke come back to KU for one more year.
Svi started for the Raptors tonight. 12 points, 8 boards
Tough night for Wiggins against the Suns. 4 for 12 from the field for only 10 points. Still dealing with a bad back.
Even tougher night for Steph. 12 points on 4 for 21 shooting. If it wasn't for Jordan Poole it would've been a complete Phoenix blowout.
When did he hurt his back?
BenMac finally got some PT last night, 18 mins or so and scored 17 pts.
One night after Wiggins shot only 4 for 12 from the field, Embiid goes 3 for 17 in the Sixers' loss to the Celtics. Ouch.
At least he had 18 rebounds.
Found this on a fantasy portion of ESPN:
News: 4 days ago Josh Jackson contributed zero points (0-1 FG), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in seven minutes during Sunday's 110-106 loss to the Lakers.
Spin: Jackson barely touched the court Sunday, continuing a trend that has him on the outside looking in when it comes to fantasy leagues. He has been able to put up sporadic 12-team value in the past, but with this little playing time, there's not much to see here.
MONSTER GAME IN CHARLOTTE!!!! JOEL SCORES 43 with 15 boards and 7 assists. OUBRE SCORES 35 with 5 boards 3 assists and 4 steals!!! Sixers win in OT.
Morris and BMac are both playing on opposite teams in Portlalaland
DDot made 2 FT's for the Bulls!
Morris 17 points in his return from injury. BMac played 8 minutes. Wiggins gets 28.
Nice production tonight from some former Hawks.
JoJO had a nice game as well
Pretty good night.
Joel Embiid: 32 pts 8 reb (32 min)
Kelly Oubre: 22 pts 10 reb (41 min)
Marcus Morris: 20 pts 4 reb (34 min)
Andrew Wiggins: 14 pts 4 reb (32 min)
Devonte’ Graham: 12 pts 5 ast (38 min)
Ben McLemore: 12 pts 3 reb (35 min)
BMac had a pretty good game defensively against the Warriors, on a night when all the media spotlight was on Curry trying to break the 3-point record. Nice to see him get more minutes. I'll have to pay more attention to the Blazers now that my local cable carries all their games.
Devonte Graham is struggling, shooting percentage is dropping. No Zion means he's being pressured to score more and it looks like he's pressing a bit.
Embiid leads all scorers in the Sixers win over Golden State. 26 points, 9 boards and 11 of 11 from the line.
Wiggins with 20 points for the Warriors, outscoring Steph who only had 18. Second straight off night from 3 for Curry, just 3 of 14.
@nwhawkfan Joel had an ugly line at the half. He was 1-10 I think.
Devon and Marcus played against each other in Bulls vs Heat game, both got some PT.
Whoa Quentin Grimes gets a start tonight, the Knicks get destroyed (covid?) but did he ever produce! 7 3 pointers, 27 points total.
BMac 5-6 on threes. 15 points in 15 minutes. I think, like some of the others here, Ben has benefited from Covid opening up playing time.
Devonte Graham hit another game winner for New Orleans tonight. This time about a 60' shot at the buzzer to beat OKC and had 15 for the game.
@Texas-Hawk-10 70 ft!
@Crimsonorblue22 Well, 61 feet anyway. WOW !

Devonte at his best - - - WOW
Forget about Curry...Devonte Graham is "ruining the game of basketball."
Now every 12 year old kid will want to chuck it from 60-plus feet !
(Tongue firmly in cheek.)
The coolest thing is that DG's shot came right after the other team tied it up from the center logo!
@Texas-Hawk-10 wow! That’s amazing!
Graham firing up multiple 3's tonight, 8-12, ending with 26 points. Wiggins played greatly with 27 with 5 3's.
And BMac goes nuts for the Blazers ! 28 points, 8 of 13 from three in a win over Charlotte. Oubre had 18 for the Hornets.
@nwhawkfan Wow! I guess I went to bed before checking the late games. I still can't figure out why he hasn't been a steady presence on an NBA team.

that's our boys - -that's what we like to see. Got to say I thought Kelly would have a good chance to play pro - -just seems he has done bette then I thought but couldn't be happier for him.- -Good for B Mac , and the of course Devonte -- Devonte - - bein Devonte love it - - ROCK CHALK
BMac and Isaiah Thomas were the two guys I was really hoping would get a shot. Watched Isiah in person a couple of times when he played for the UW Huskies a while back. Glad to see the Lakers pick him up, if only for a 10-day. He ended up as their leading scorer last night...19 points in his LA debut.
Coincidentally, both were playing at the same time, which kept my remote busy.
17 points in the last 6 minutes of the game. He's so good
@KirkIsMyHinrich wow! Thanks for sharing that.
Dominated that game offensively from start to finish

Geez , just mercy. To think and he actually didn't want to leave KU at the time , wanted to stay but Coach told him he needed to go -- MERCY, you can understand he wasn't gonna help himself anymore in College what a guy
Cheick played 3 minutes and scored 2 which is half as much as Josh Jackson scored in 21 minutes. JJ's time must be running out soon. Detroit is 5-24 and he's hardly played at all since tonight. To me Josh was a kid who didn't belong in college. He seemed indifferent, had some decent moments I guess, but the rules should have let him go pro. Not sure his problem this year, but again, hardly any PT, goes falling from covid right and left and he still has trouble getting minutes.
Nice night for Kelly Oubre with 23, back from a starting role to a sub, but got 32 minutes in the victory. He's indispensable to that team. Joel Embiid played well but the Sixers lost and are a disappointing .500. The prima donna Ben Simmons can be blamed as his petulent ways have cost the Sixers a chance at being a powerhouse. We want to see Joel win a ring and I thought they had a decent chance with that duo.
I feel bad for Joel. He needs a PG to get that ring.
Wiggins is one Jayhawk with whom I expected a lot more success in NBA. To me he has underperformed in the league.
I am not sure if this is related to lack of effort or what but wish he could have translated once in a decade type of talent and athleticism he possesses.
@AsadZ I guess definition of success is a little vague!! Starter since day 1, 19.5 PPG career average, 4 boards, 3 assists, 42% 3 point shooter this season at least. And starting alongside Stephen Curry on one of the best teams in the league.
I do understand where he's probably not heading for the HOF or even all star teams that he may be considered a bit of a disappointment, but of all our great players he's one of relatively rare ones during the last 30 years that has been a steady presence in the league.

The problem with Wiggins in Minnesota was that he, along with Towns, were expected to be the alphas of the team. As we saw during his year here at KU, Wiggins doesn't have an alpha dog mentality. He's much better in a supporting role which is what his job is at Golden State where Curry and Draymond are the alphas of that team so Wiggins can just go out and play without worrying about being a leader.
Josh Jackson is the player I'm more surprised about because I thought he was the better overall player at KU than Wiggins was, and he has an alpha dog mentality, but I don't know if it was a work ethic issue with him or not, but his career has been much more lack luster than I think most people here would've predicted.
@Texas-Hawk-10 My memories of JJ were some minor legal problems, weed maybe? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but character issues may be what's weighing him down which is really sad. I've always guessed that was his issue.
Everyone is talented in the NBA. I never was blown away by Wiggins physical gifts as being some level above everyone else. I’m in the “Andrew did just fine and is a fine piece of the puzzle on a good team” camp
It’s hard when your OAD classmate is the unheralded Joel Embiid. What about Jabari Parker? For a while he was touted as the jewel of that crop. He’s got one foot out of the league. Andrew did just fine.
Wiggs went overall #1 in 2014 draft, Joel was #3.
Joel could have gone #1 but there were some injury concerns if I recall.
I never understood how anyone ever expected Simmons to be anything other than the piece of crap who bailed on his LSU teammates.
Character will out.
@wissox JJ had more than minor trouble in the nba. He had a kid and smoked pot around the baby, the mom tried to charge him. He was also at a concert and tried to get back stage and I think escaped from a cop and ran off to get back there, thinking he was more important than he was. I can't remember the exact facts but some really bad screw ups. Seems like last yr or the yr before he got it back together, but he's not seeing much time this yr. he may be a dawg on the court but he can't do it off the court, no control! Really sad!
@mayjay Don’t know if you remember but I was in Baton Rouge the Ben Simmons season. All year I kept thinking I hadn’t seen anyone like that since Danny Manning. I don’t blame him for the LSU experience so much because he clearly didn’t want to play in college. But his lack of competitive drive in the heat of the moment was startling. I was fortunate to be in a rare sold old PMAC for a game against OU and senior yrmear Buddy Held. Buddy led a big comeback and in the last 5 minutes Ben didn’t take a shot. Fans were pretty pissed. Ben had an interesting teammate Keith Hornsby who was the son of rockstar Bruce Hornsby who would come to quite a few of the games. He was a decent player. The last interesting tidbit was a guy hollered at me because I was wearing my KU stuff. We started talking and he was the KU grad who made the rules of basketball documentary for ESPN’s series 30 for 30. He was making a documentary about Simmons that aired on showtime. I filled his ear about my opinion about Simmons.
@Crimsonorblue22 thanks you’re always good for the inside scoop on the Jayhawks.! I knew there was some tough stuff. Michael Vick and he got in trouble together didn’t they? Wow Michael Vick what a wasted talent. I remember after one NCAA game my bro in law asked me “who is that guy?” It was one of his high flying alley oop games. Was so disappointed he let himself down and us too.
@wissox LaGerald :) Michael Vick was that Ron Mexico QB guy who liked to dog fight.
LaGerald definitely couldn't get out of his own way. Running down the court after making a 3, jabbing himself in the temple and staring at the crowd while the other team got out on the break drove me nuts.
Wiggins was the consensus No. 1 ranked prospect in his high school class, and he remained at the top even after he reclassified and went to college a year early. Before his sole season at Kansas even began, he was widely considered the eventual No. 1 overall pick, having drawn comparisons to LeBron James and Tracy McGrady and even being bestowed with the nickname “Maple Jordan.”

Btw to the people who think Andrew hasn’t lived up to expectations, I thought this article painted an excellent picture of a 26 year old who is still improving.
There are 3,484 players who have played at least one minute in the NBA since 1985, according to our historical RAPTOR database. Of those players, only 556 recorded at least one season with a positive RAPTOR rating on both sides of the ball while playing at least 1,000 minutes per 82 team games. Among that group of 556, just 50 did not post that first two-way positive season until at least their eighth year in the leaguee
I love Wiggs! I think he gets better as his body matures into a mans body. He's not a dawg, but God has gifted him with multi athletic abilities and he's worked on his shot. He's pretty dang smooth!
Svi got some PT tonight and took advantage scoring 10. But his team got destroyed by the Cavs who scored 83 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters alone. Another amazing stat was Cleveland taking 52 3 pointers, making 22. Goodness how this game has changed. Garrett got one point for the Heat. Covid is giving our guys some PT. Joel Punished the Wiz with 36 and 13. DG had a nice game but lost with 15 points and 8 gifts. Cheick almost had a double double with 9 and 9, but JJ didn't appear in the box score, I guess he's in the protocols. SA blew (out) a Piston. DD can't find PT in Chicago even with guys out. Marcus Morris is coming back after sitting out for Covid. I've got 3 more days and I'll be able to begin to play again.

Garrett like numbers tonight. 1-7 shooting 5 boards, 3 steals. Not quite over. Embiid putting up big numbers again.
Apparently Cleveland started 3 footers tonight.
It is great to see Marcus getting decent minutes.
If only Wiggins could be turned up like he gets playing Cleveland or his old team. He's done nothing wrong in the league but certainly not a generational talent like he was hyped to be. I think he's having perhaps his best season in the league with GS and it helps they are one of the best teams in the league. I've been impressed every time I've seen him this season

Quentin getting some minutes with the Knicks but they're ugly minutes. After a debut with 27 points, he's really struggling to score, and nearly every basket he's made has been outside the arc. Thinking his time is short in the Garden. Rather see them giving Selden minutes.
BenMac had a big game against his former team (Lakers).

Wonder why Q is getting minutes over Wayne. He had at least had one good statistical year, what with Memphis awhile back?
@rockchalkjayhawk Well I think Q is a decent player. He took his team with others of course to the final 4 last year. Wayne and him would be about even I'd guess. Not totally sure.
Embiid 31 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists in 30 minutes. Guy's unreal

@Crimsonorblue22 Wow Josh been having himself a game against the Bucks. 24 points, 5 boards, 5 3's made.
It was pointed out in the game chat that Devonte went off in the 2nd half. Ended up with 28 points and 6 assists but couldn't beat the Suns.
Big game in Charlotte for Oubre who makes 9 threes and scores 32 over JJackson and Detroit who scored 15. Curry is in a shooting slump and Wigs is leading the team in scoring with only 12 in the 3rd. Embiid scores 31, but what else is new?
Kelly hit eight of his nine threes in the fourth quarter, part of a Hornets team record of 24 treys.
Wiggins ended up with a team high of 17 in a Golden State loss to Dallas, on the night they retired Dirk Nowitzki's number.
As for Embiid, that's five straight games with 30 or better.
Wiggins led a Curryless Warriors over a cold shooting DG tonight with 21 points. Seems like he's the 2nd scoring option on that team.
Doke played 16 minutes, 2 points, missed 1 FT (surprise!) 3 boards and a block. His opponent Svi didn't play but 2 scoreless minutes. That was his first action in a while, wonder if he was out for covid? Joel did Joel things. He has 6 30+ point games in a row.
Wow, Marcus Morris with a huge effort in a loss today with 29 points and 8 boards. Made 4 of 6 3's.
Joel keeps chugging along, another 30 point effort. 13-13 FT's. I don't know enough about all the big guys in the league but he's got to be one of the better FT shooters out there among them. Oubre might be out hopefully just Covid, but he didn't play. Grimes had a nice game with 7 points and 6 assists.

jO jO is an Animal. Just needs someone else to help a he can't do it by himself
Joel with another 3o point game, 8 in a row I believe. Wonder if his 7 TO's however spelled doom against the Oubreless Hornets?

Very true and the breaks he is getting right now sure isn't helping him
BMac starting in Portland. 18 points tonight. Led his team. DGraham had some good numbers except for his shooting which has really been off lately. 7 boards and 6 assists. Marcus Morris scored 12 in the same games. Wiggins led his team but only 16 in a blowout loss to the Bucks. Since Klay came back his numbers have dropped a bit.
Wiggins scores 21 as the Warriors open up a can of whup-ass on the Bulls in a 42-point road win.
Dubs break out of their slump, aided by Chicago playing without an injured Zach Lavine. Wigs was the game's leading scorer until they sat him early and emptied the bench.
@nwhawkfan heard curry hurt his hand?
Suddenly the bulls got injury woes. Nets destroyed them the other night too. Some guy got hurt in beginning of that one named Green and they’re missing him
Even Dotson played!
Update from yesterday, BMac 10 points, Svi, 7 minutes, zero, Grimes, 8 points, Devonte 10 pts, 4 assts, Joel, 32, and 12, but his 30 point game streak ended the previous night, MMorris, 15, 6, 5. Busy night

Short story Garrett waived, is having season ending surgery on wrist, and will be staying with the heat through rehab.
Dotson waived
The Bulls have released guard Devon Dotson, the team announced today (via Twitter). Dotson had been on a two-way contract with the club.
An undrafted free agent out of Kansas, Dotson spent his rookie season in 2020/21 on a two-way deal with the Bulls, then signed a new contract for the ’21/22 campaign. Across two seasons in Chicago, the 22-year-old averaged 2.4 PPG and 1.0 APG in 22 NBA games (6.1 MPG). He played a larger role in the G League, especially this season, when he averaged 20.1 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 6.3 APG, and 2.2 SPG in 10 contests (36.9 MPG) for the Windy City Bulls.
Dotson will clear waivers on Wednesday, assuming he goes unclaimed, and will be free to sign with any team at that time.
@rockchalkjayhawk Interesting take on the Dotson waiving:

Selden update
Wayne Selden Signing With Turkish Team
January 18th 2022 at 2:08pm CST by Alex Kirschenbaum
Shooting guard Wayne Selden is signing with Turkish club Afyon Belediye of the Basketball Super League, per Turkish paper Afyon Haber.
After going undrafted out of Kansas in 2016, Selden logged time with the Pelicans, Grizzlies, and Bulls, plus several G League clubs. The 27-year-old wing then suited up for Israeli Basketball Premier League club Ironi Nes Ziona during the 2020/21 season.
Selden inked a non-guaranteed camp deal with the Knicks ahead of training camp and stuck on the roster through the start of the regular season. However, he was waived earlier this month as part of the Knicks’ Denzel Valentine/Rajon Rondo trade. Selden appeared in just three games for New York this season.
The 6’4″ guard holds NBA career averages of 7.2 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 1.5 APG with a shooting line of .415/.344/.718 across 127 contests, including 27 starts.

Joel with 50! Azubuike has played in 6 games and his stats show he hasn't really changed. 80% FG percentage and 50% FT percentage!
Oubre back from Covid and scored 18. Nice return to action!
Not a good news in that Marcus G was released by the Heat, he had an injury and Heat released him.
I hope that another team will give him a chance.
Joel dropped 50 points in 27 minutes last night
Wow
Grimes news and notes
Quentin Grimes has earned more playing time even with several veterans returning to action recently, Steve Popper of Newsday writes. Grimes doesn’t put up big stats but Thibodeau has played Grimes a minimum of 17 minutes in all but one game this month. “Grimes has been playing great basketball,” Thibodeau said of the first-round rookie guard. “But it’s just step by step. You earn your minutes here. What you do in practice. You have to wait for your opportunity and when your opportunity comes, be ready to go.”
@rockchalkjayhawk I still cannot figure out why Selden did not get PT with NY

Joel only scored 40 tonight. BMac had a nice game with 4-7 3 pointers.
Dotson update, Part 2
Devon Dotson, who was waived by the Bulls last week in order to sign Malcolm Hill to a two-way deal, is expected to land with Chicago’s G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, according to veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein of Substack (via Twitter).
Hope that Dotson and Garrett can back on the NBA roster quickly.
Jo Jo scored 38 and I believe 12 rebounds in sixer's win last night
Devonte had a nice game last night with 26 points and 6 assists. BMac did well also for the Blazers. 17 points with 5 3 pointers.

Wow, the Hornets are scoring a bucket load of points tonight and Oubre has made 10 of 15 3's for 39 points and counting. Still 4 minutes left, but he's not in the game.

Congrats Wigs!

You sound like Reds fans who stuffed the ballot box back in the day and elected 8 Reds starters to the ASG. And no it wasn’t the big Red Machine either when you could have almost justified that. It was in 1958.
Did the same for the Royals a few years too!💙

Doke starts tonight for the Utah Jazz. He is in every lineup I posted for Draft Kings. Go get it, big guy!

Really great story about Doke!
@Crimsonorblue22 Interesting that the game started with Doke being outclassed by Mitchell Robinson. That was the guy who left WKY in the summer of 2017 after enrolling early and who visited KU in August before returning to WKY (and later sat out a year to train for the draft; first guy to do that). We had a lengthy discussion about whether he would have to sit out a year at KU due to his WKY summer school classes of something like 2 weeks.
He would have been competing with Doke at KU. I always wondered if that was why he didn't come or if it was just the eligibility issue. Sounds like he has done well (except for, well, getting stuck on the Knicks).

This is going to end poorly for Philly. Harden and Embiid's games don't mesh well and teams are now figuring out that Harden is a cancer that doesn't make teams better. Look at the players Harden ran off in Houston to to the point of ruining the Rockets. And now that Harden isn't the central piece teams are building around, they won't deal with his crap for long and he'll end up bouncing around the league the rest of his career. Harden is a ball hog and the change in the rules has taken away what made him a dominant player as evidenced by his drop in FT rate. Without the refs whistle, he's not an elite player as evidenced by his playoff career.

Selden update:
Veteran shooting guard Wayne Selden, who began the 2021/22 season with the Knicks, has signed with Ironi Ness Ziona in Israel, the team announced in a press release. Selden has appeared in 127 total NBA games for Memphis, Chicago, New Orleans, and New York since 2016. He spent the 2020/21 campaign with Ironi Ness Ziona, so the move represents a reunion for the two sides
Uh
@KirkIsMyHinrich thats a bad bad man.
@KirkIsMyHinrich you hear Barkley? That was offensive!
Svi has signed with Celtics.
I am rooting for him to have a long career in BOS.
The Heat have waived Jamaree Bouyea and Caleb Daniels in order to sign Jon Elmore and Cheick Diallo, the team announced in a press release. Elmore was immediately released to make room for RJ Hampton, who will take Bouyea’s two-way slot.
@rockchalkjayhawk Wow, nice find. Hope Cheick gets to hang around.
Boy I cannot recall much about him as a Jayhawk...
Perfect example of waiting! His family was dirt poor. Needed to stay under Self's wing for 4 yrs plus a covid one.🙏
I just remember the very loud “free Diallo” chants at the Maui tournament. Otherwise a subtle KU a career.

I don't know about 4 years, but a second year probably gets him into the lottery.
@Texas-Hawk-10 judging by his nba career, he needed more than 2. Jmo. 🤷♀️
Saw this list of Jayhawks in the NBA or G League this year. thought i'd pass it along. missing anybody?
Ochai Agbaji – Utah Jazz
Ochai has played in about two-thirds of Utah’s games. He is averaging 13.7 minutes and 4 points a game. He has not had much of an impact in Salt Lake this season. SLC Dunk had an interesting write-up about Abaji’s season up to early January after he had a nice four-game stretch. With Utah’s trade deadline deal to acquire Russel Westbrook and two other players, the resulting roster shake-up could free up more playing time for Agbaji.
Udoka Azubuike – Utah Jazz (now with Phoenix) t
The good news for Dok is he has played in more NBA games this season than in either of his first two seasons. The bad news, it looks like Dok will be looking for a new team next season. According to reporting by SLC Dunk, Utah has declined the option on his contract for the 2023-24 season and he will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. Dok has played in only 20 of the Jazz first 56 games and he is averaging only 4.7 minutes, 1.7 points and 1.7 rebounds a game.
Christian Braun – Denver Nuggets
Christian is seeing more time on the court than Dok and Ochai. He has played in 50 games and is averaging 14.7 minutes and 4.2 points per game. His coach, Michael Malone has expressed a desire to get Braun more playing time, but the current makeup of the team has prevented it and the makeup of the team changed Thursday. The Nuggets shipped Bones Hyland to the Clippers for two draft picks. With Hyland moving to Los Angeles, Christian should see more playing time.
Joel Embiid – Philadelphia 76ers
Embiid continues to be a dominant force for the 76ers. This season he is averaging 33.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. The Sixers currently sit third in the Eastern Conference just ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers. It looks like Joel will be with Philidelphia for several more years, having signed a four-year super max contract extension keeping him in Philidelphia through at least the 2025-26 season and if he chooses to exercise his player option through the 2026-27 season.
Devonte’ Graham – San Antonio Spurs
Devonte’ was traded to the Spurs just before the trade deadline Thursday. Graham has appeared in 53 games for the Pelicans this season, but he has seen a significant dip in minutes played compared to last season. Last season he played in 76 games and averaged 26.8 minutes per game. This season he is averaging only 15.3 minutes per game. This seems to be fine with some Pelicas’ fans as Graham has struggled as of late and people are wanting to see more of Kira Lewis Jr. With his move to the lowly Spurs, it will be interesting to see Graham get more playing time.
Marcus Morris – Los Angeles Clippers
Marcus now in his 11th NBA season and 3rd full season with the Clippers is coming off a recent 4-game absence due to injury. When available, Marcus is a consistent starter having started the last 104 games he has played and 152 of the 180 games played for the Clippers. This season, Marcus is averaging 12 points and 4 assists in just under 29 minutes per game.
Markieff Morris – Dallas Mavericks
Markieff may not have been a big name in the big trade between Brooklyn and Dallas, that goes to Kyrie Irving, but he sure seems happy to be part of the trade. What did Markieff think about the trade? Well of course he let everyone know before his first game with the Mavs Wednesday.
“I was just hoping I was getting traded with [Kyrie], I just wanted somewhere I could have the opportunity to play. .... just a lot going on, man. I just want to play basketball.”
With Brooklyn, he played in only 27 games this season averaging 10 minutes, 3.6 points, and 2.2 rebounds per game, all well below his career averages.
Svi Mykhailiuk – Charlotte Hornets (now with Boston)
There were rumors Svi was headed to Portland, but instead, he is headed to the Hornets at the trade deadline. Svi is on his sixth team in five seasons. So far this season, Svi has sat deep on the bench for the New York Knicks. He hopes to find more playing time in Charlotte. With the Knicks, he has found his way into 13 games this season averaging about 3 minutes per game and 1.6 points per game. Looking at his stat line, there is a bright spot, when he has the opportunity to shoot from behind the arc, he is hitting 60% of his shots. Just don’t look too close, he has only had 10 attempts.
Kelly Oubre Jr. – Charlotte Hornets
Kelly was having the best season of his career through the first 35 games of the season. He had started 30 of those games and was averaging better than 20 points a game. Then in early January, he underwent surgery on his left hand to repair a torn ligament that he had been dealing with the entire season. He will be joined by former Jayhawk teammate Svi Mykhailiuk on the active roster when he returns sometime in the next few weeks.
Andrew Wiggins – Golden State Warriors
Wiggins has missed significant time due to injury and illness for the first time in his career. From early December to early January, he missed 15 games and since returning he has struggled to regain his early-season form. If you look at his stat lines for this season and last season you do not see a drop-off, but that view just masks the great start he had to the season. Prior to his 15-game absence, he was averaging 19 points and 5 rebounds per gain, and he was shooting 45 percent from 3-point range. Since his return, those numbers have dipped to 12.4 points and 4 rebounds per game and 22.7 percent from behind the 3-point line. If the Warriors are going to right the ship and make another deep playoff push, they need Andrew to be early seasons Andrew.
Devon Dotson — G League’s Capitol City Go-Go
Devon has been bouncing between the association and G League for the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards since declaring for the 2020 draft and going undrafted. Devon started this season with the Wizards, but was waived on January 17 and immediately signed by the Wizards G League team, the Go-Go, on January 19. Devon has played in 13 games this season for the Go-Go, averaging 29 minutes, 13 points, and 5 assists per game, including shooting 39.3% from behind the arc.
Marcus Garret — G League’s Sioux Falls Sky Force
Injuries have been the story of Marcus Garret’s professional career so far. He impressed the Miami Heat enough to sign him twice to two-way contracts, but both times wrist injuries spoiled the deal. In October he was waived by the Heat after his latest injury and on October 24 he rejoined the Skyforce, Miami’s G League affiliate. Now healed, he is playing again. In 16 games he is averaging 25 minutes and 9.7 points per game. Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinal has a nice story (I do not think it is behind a paywall) about Marcus and his journey with the Heat and Skyforce.
Ha, it is missing a few...
Gradey Dick / Raptors
Jalen Wilson / Nets -- Two way contract.
Dok is with Phoenix
Cheick Diallo / Miami
Thanks for compiling.
Svi is with Celtics.

It's illegal for recreational use in Germany so that would be a problem for Garrett. That was also just one of several issues it sounds like with Garrett.
I know people who love to claim weed isn't addictive, but if you can't give it up for a few months because it's illegal for recreational use in the country you're going to be playing in, you might have an addiction problem.
I also find it very difficult to have any sympathy for Garrett in this situation because it sounds like he did zero research about what life is like for pro basketball players in Europe.

If he's smoking that much weed now, then I absolutely believe that because one of the potential side effects of smoking that much weed is losing your motivation and drive to do things. It's also possible that his lung capacity isn't as good any more because of how much he smokes.
I obviously don't know the specifics of what's going on with Garrett here, but making an educated guess based of what I've seen from friends who chose to be stoners and smoke a lot of weed because that's what looks like is happening with Garrett here.
Sadly, I believe it too.

@HoraceZontal 🫶🥰🌾🌾🌾💙❤️
@Crimsonorblue22 ooooh, yuck. Bad stuff and I would rather he not drive drunk again instead of playing basketball.
Re Devontae and the bench, I was curious as well. I did some poking around and found this thoughtful analysis from a Reddit thread:
“Samlet 5 days ago
IMO Spurs know they’d be a better team with Graham getting all the non-Tre minutes at point guard. But the Spurs are prioritizing winning in the long term. So they believe getting Branham reps at point guard (after the Sochan experiment was uh… interesting) is more important than having Graham be the 30-40th ranked point guard he is, and getting guys some easier looks and us a few more wins, but then our guys aren’t getting as many creation reps.
I personally would rather have 48 minutes of real point guard play so our guys can play in a functional offense, but I understand why PATFO is prioritizing Branham with our upcoming roster crunch.
Next year we likely have two top-10 draft picks coming in. So we have Wemby, Devin, Keldon, Sochan, Collins, Tre Jones, our top-5 pick, and the Raptors pick who likely have 8 rotation spots pretty secure.
There are only so many minutes and reps to go around. So it’ll be important to know as much as we can about Branham by the end of this season, so going forward we know whether to keep prioritizing his development (~25 min a game) or if he’s looking more like a 15 min./game bench player.
The Spurs feel like that’s more important than giving Graham 20 minutes/game and getting a better offense/a few more wins, but then not giving Branham (along with our other young players) as many reps and then as a result not knowing as much about their capabilities.“
@HoraceZontal that sucks! Seems very unfair.
@HoraceZontal Time to call Tyler Self...
@Crimsonorblue22 I’m sure he’d like to be playing, but he’s making 12.1M this year. And if the analysis is correct, at least there’s a reason beyond Pop just not liking him. It’s the coaching opposite of something that folks often complain about with HCBS: that he doesn’t play the young guys enough early to the point of maybe losing some games now so that they and the team are better later.
Another comment indicated that Pop may be holding Devontae out with the idea of trading him soon. Hopefully he gets to a team that will give him some PT.
@HoraceZontal and Merry Christmas everyone!

Ochai got traded to Toronto so I guess the raptors will be a popular team to follow now with both him and gradey
Yup, lots of former Jayhawks on the move today. Too bad if Och and Dick have to compete for minutes.
Others swapping teams: Marcus Morris, Grimes
Not worth a new thread but while watching the Bulls game just now they had a list of the highest scoring pros who are sons of former Bulls. Wiggins tops the list and Danny Manning is 2nd on the list. Two Jayhawks, sons of former Bulls did or doing well.
@rcjhdraft Was excited to see an increasing role as last season wore on even garnering some starts, but lately Och' lines were pretty sparse. Hopefully he and Grady can get some run north of the border.
Looks like Gradey has found his groove a bit in Toronto. 4-4 on 3's tonight, 18 points for the 2nd game in a row and 3rd time in 5 games. Gradey is averaging 10.4 per game in February. They wouldn't be talking about UConn as a favorite again if Gradey had stayed for another season. Same two games teammate Ochai has gotten 13 and 14 points.

Just stumbled upon this. Did not know:
Where is Darrell Arthur now?
Denver Nuggets
Darrell is now a part of the Denver Nuggets Front Office. Arthur is the first cousin of fellow basketball player Quinton Ross.
Saw the highlight of Braun throwing down the poster dunk on Rudy Gobert last night. Unfortunately, it lead to a technical and took the momentum away with the Nuggs ultimately losing after being up by 10 with 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Who would have thought Braun would be starting in the NBA when he played at KU?
It is a great thing to see!

Ochai and Gradey each had 22 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Gradey has been lighting it up for the Raptors. Two 30 pt games before that...
Gradey is averaging 21 points a game this season so far, after 8.5 last year. He's really stepped it up in year 2.
Och has been doing pretty good too! Saw an oop from Grady.
Dick has taken over my fantasy league. His owner changed team name to “Can’t get enough Dick” and I changed mine to “Not Just Any Dick Grade A Dick”
Yes, we are middle aged men.
@approxinfinity Uh hmmm, budddy- - Say what ? lmao
Hahaha. Dude if we cant laugh what have we got? Happy day before election day, when half the country will think we have entered the post apocalypse
@approxinfinity Lol - -you mean we haven't ? - - -Dammit - - I hate it when that happens lol
I don't get as excited about Jayhawks in the pros to be honest, but we've got some production currently. Grady averaging 20, Oubre 16, Ochai 16, Jalen um, 8 (?), Joel is becoming an enigma, finally playing Tuesday. Wiggins his usual 15 points or so. Doke, Svi just hanging on in the league. Devonte might be done in the league. Grimes seen his production go down a lot since his trade away from the Knicks. Braun is a media star of sorts getting lots of twitter noise for his 'stuff' and averaging 16 a game.
5 guys averaging at least 14 and that should go up to 6 when Joel starts playing.
Is Josh playing anywhere right now?
@Woodrow I can't find him listed anywhere. Last thing I see is him being waived by the Stockton Kings https://stockton.gleague.nba.com/news/stockton-kings-acquire-jericole-hellems-2 ↗

That sucks. He was a good baller. Didn’t even make a second contract. Legal problems? Seems like maybe he got in some trouble.
Josh was part of a recruiting era of Bill Selfs that seemed to find talented with baggage type guys. Seemingly he’s turned the corner from that
Anger issues and drugs
How does Cooper flag stack up against Wemby, Lebron, Embiid? Is the hype just Duke bluster?

He is Legit
Interestingly today I listened to the Jayhawker podcast on IHeart and Bill Self mentioned Josh Jackson. Just gushed about all of his talent.
I failed to mention in my player update that so far Johnny Furphy and I are tied in total points scored in NBA....0. He does have two rebounds in 3 games. Not sure who we wouldn't currently have if Johnny stayed in college but I wish he had.
Technically, now ALL Jayhawks are in the Pros, thanks to NIL
@nuleafjhawk you mean they are now all OFFICIALLY pro
@nuleafjhawk How should I retitle the thread? :)
Payhawks?
My suggestion for a new title:
An Exhaustive Examination of Former University of Kansas Jayhawks and Their Dynamic Journeys Within the Complex, High-Stakes Environment of Professional Basketball in the NBA: A Longitudinal Analysis of Talent Development, Adaptation, and Influence Across Seasons
@benshawks08 Hmm. Not descriptive enough.
Dick had 32 last night.
Dick’s on fire!
@approxinfinity I could say something BUT I won't cause some here would blow a cork and take it all out of the way it was meant.- - just my sick sense of humor. Anyway you can figure it out lol- - just playin
@nuleafjhawk Must've been! I didn't watch, just perusing box scores.
Imagine AI taking over this thread….. Dick is stroking, now Dick is on fire and burning 🤣
@kjayhawks - -There are ways to take care of that lol, I mean I wouldn't know personally but just sayin lol
Glad to see Jo , Jo and Kelly teaming up and doing well.-- - Last Night Jo , Jo 34 points - -9 assists- - -& 5 rebounds. - --Kelly 22 points- - 4-6 from three point I think 8 rebounds ?
Looks like Kelly & Jo Jo both need to take some of their money and get a haircut lol. - -Jo , Jo wearing aface shield- -what the hell happened now, Big man always getting hurt
There are 125 overseas high level D1 players 6'9" or over currently on rosters. Recruiters look for big guys who can shoot from outside, dribble and pass because US recruits are not as skilled. There are 1.68 players per high level D1 teams and the same for mid level programs. Most of these players know they will not be NBA players but come for the education degrees. Gonzaga has had the same assistant coach/recruiter for 17 years and that's how they have continued as a top program. Some players may start in JUCO's and the facilities etc over here are at another level. The coaches in the EURO programs are considered excellent overall. Serbia is by far the largest contributing country as BB is almost a religion there.
Furphy sighting. Hes currently on the floor for Indiana against Boston
@approxinfinity I sometimes wonder about his pro/NBA future if he had stayed another year at KU
Furphy was 0/6, no free throws, zero points. 4 rebounds, 2 assists in 23 minutes. -16 in +/-. NBA money too strong for him to stay. Maybe he’ll have an impact next year?
Hey, surprise surprise.
Looks like Kevin McCullar made his debut finally. G League appearance. Good for him and his mysterious knee. I hope that is a thing of the past.

I'm surprised that some of the Knick references to Kevin list him as a point guard. I wish him great success no matter what position he plays.
Higgins traded to the Heat. Rare long run with same team.
@Crimsonorblue22 Higgins, Wiggins, whatever, when guys stay for 1 year I really don't get to know them.
@approxinfinity LOL, I just did a quick glance and thought you'd posted a pic of Hitler. I'm like why? But now I understand. I liked Higgins better than Wiggins TBH.
Big games for Oubre and Grimes today for Philly. 20 and 44.
Boy Christan really turning it on. He has salified his spot on the opening Roster, they have been showing articles every day.- Sowed him posterizing one of the leagues best rim protectors in the league and got the and one on top of it.- - He has broken into a ranking of being one of the 100 top best NBA players now , also showed him coming down on the break and getting the and one again-- kid turning into a stud
@SlimShaddy54 I’ve actually watch some of the nuggets games here recently. I think they are one of the funner teams to watch at this point.
@kjayhawks ya me too. love Dokic and with Braun on the team follow them even more. Christan becoming a very solid player, the Denver fans love him
Garrett signed a 10 day today with someone, I forgot, but holy smokes, never expected to read that.

Question my fellow Jay Hawks . Just Scrolling through video's and such and came across library of Christan's Dunks while at KU , now the question becomes- - - - -- --- -
Would you agree that Christan is one that has flourished the most in his Basketball career, coming to KU and now with the Nuggets ?- --I mean this kid wasn't some hot stud coming into College, he played well , turned into one of our better players , and now has went from a bench player seeing a few minutes on the Nuggets and with his work ethic ha managed to become one of Denver's better players. Moved into a Starting role- -doesn't hurt at all I mean by playing with Jokic ?- I know spelt wrong but you know who I mean,
Yet the thing I miss most about Christan- -he WAS/IS a DOG - kid has a real edge to him , he has that attitude- - -love it , wish we had players like that on our team now - -He would talk plenty od smack BUT he could back it up-- - not back down from any situation. Showed some of his dunks at KU the clip was asking which one of his dunks did ew think was best. -Mercy he had some emphatic dunks- SHOW TIMe and his reaction to them was like- --GETE down boy , don't try to stop me- - This is MY TIME. Man I wish we had CB on this roster
Hunter Dickinson has signed a two way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Should be hearing about Dejuan Harris and Zeke Mayo in the next few days as well as each should at least be playing in Summer League.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I am surprised. Pelicans were 21-61 last season. Wouldnt you take a flyer on more raw, high upside guys? Not guys with very specific and limited skill sets. I would have expected him to get a flyer on a more competitive team with a clearly defined role, like protect a lead by trading buckets, maybe paired with a rim protector.
@approxinfinity Don't know enough about the Pelicans roster construction to know their needs. A two-way contract doesn't guarantee Hunter will spend any time in the NBA. He could spend up to 50 games in the NBA though.
Zeke Mayo has signed a deal with the Washington Wizards to be part of their Summer League team and Dajuan Harris will be playing with the Charlotte Hornets during Summer League.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I am fascinated to see how Juan does with talent around him. Hope he finds his mojo.
The Brooklyn Nets picked up their team option for Jalen Wilson next season.
@Texas-Hawk-10 nice!
Graham looking overseas.

Marcus Morris update after his arrest:
According to court documents, Marcus Morris allegedly received $115K from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino via bad checks in May 2024 and never paid it back when the checks bounced. The following month, he took $150K in a similar fashion from the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. There were two felony counts in each case — drawing or passing a check for $1,200 or more with the intent to defraud and theft valued at $100K or more.
I knew when that kid shot at housekeeping with a bee bee gun he was trouble.
Dejuan Harris signed a contract to play in Belgium this season.
@Texas-Hawk-10 nice! Ruffles should start a twitter campaign over there…
Brussels has bridges!
My HS assistance coach was Hadl's backup at KU. We played 8 man and he would take a snap and run around until we gave up. My oldest brother's brother-in-law HRC ran in the 100 yard state final against Riggins who was from Centralia (what ever class they were maybe Class B) HRC who was about 5'6" and 140 said this behemoth blew them all away running a 9.8 100. which was the state record at the time. Riggins reminds me of Joe Don Looney in offbeatness although Looney ran a 9.7 and was even more loony.
Mario Chalmers just hit the game winning shot in the big 3 championship game. Mario has now won a championship at every level in the USA!
Saw a collage of pictures of him in high school, college, professional and Big3.
RockChalk
Wowzers! Good for Christian if true!
5-year, $125 million extension $$$$$$
Maybe he could play for KU again. How’s that NIL budget looking? lol
Apparently teams are recruiting the G league guys and somehow signing them. Spoiler alert Izzo is not happy about it. -
Lots of guys from KU in the pros this year, but seemingly some taking their swan song. Not sure why Och and Grady's minutes are limited in Toronto, but they are. Wilson doing about the same with the Nets. Embiid's production is waning as is Higgins...or is it Wiggins? Oubre and Grimes are still productive pro's but I am way more impressed by grinders who hung around KU and made a name here for themselves like SVI. He scored 28 tonight for Utah!! Braun's still starting, but not scoring a ton, which isn't his role anyways.
Oh and in 5 minutes of action Hunter was 1-2 and had a block and 2 fouls and 2 turnovers. That's a lot of bad to fit into 5 minutes. But those are his only minutes he's played.

Ingram taking up a lot of minutes that would have gone to Ochai and Dick last year. Can't say that's the wrong decision, but it does suck for those two guys.
@Zabudda I'm definitely surprised by his pro career. He's been a good journeyman. I wonder what his college career would have been like if he played somewhere not as team-oriented style of play as KU. If he had played for a not blue blood that let him shoot without abandon I bet his college numbers would have been insane. 15ppg his final year here, but I bet that is 20ppg somewhere else.
I bet he wouldn’t change a thing! Svi for 3
