10:10 ET tip. How ya'll feel about this one? I really have no clue although if Wisconsin can win at Purdue KU ought to be able to win in Salt Lake City where my son lives so he can ski.
Having no clue doesn't stop me from predicting a Jayhawk winner by the score of 69-61.
My prediction is that we won't see the first 4 mins of the game on ESPN.
Sounds like quite a few Jayhawk fans there!ā¤ļøš
@mayjay said in Ute came to the right place:

My prediction is that I'll spend 15 minutes trying to stream the game online, only to succeed 4 minutes into the game.
(When it goes on regular broadcast ESPN)
It's on espn
Schedule is setup for us to take advantage here, letās get some Ws and build some confidence
Elbow clank < layup
SEC game with less than 10 point spread and 3 minutes on the clock = 30 minutes, minimum.
Well if you canāt see it, you havenāt missed much.
Putrid
Brick. Dribble off foot. Brick. Brick.
This gym was the site of Bird Johnson in 1979
Juan with a 3
Hunter skied a full half foot for that rebound!
No one should be surprised at this start
Zero flipping energy or desire to be there yet again smh. Why does this team not give a single fuck
Griffen has been dog shit bad so far with two bad turnovers.
And hee we go--- - - Again
10-3 utah. Timeout Bill
This team is a bunch of pussies.
@nuleafjhawk said in Ute came to the right place:

They just donāt care and have zero heart, donāt know how else to describe them unfortunately
Soft is the best word i think.
@kjayhawks Itās not that they donāt care or energy
Itās that the players arenāt very good especially the 3 that plan the most
@approxinfinity yeah, that's what I meant. But I'm pissed.
Hahaha. Man this is hilariously bad
@approxinfinity Again
That Utah dude with the manbun....SMH. But his cool tats offset that.
these guys don't have a good win all season. How did they get in our league and how are they curb stomping us?
āNo energy guysā -source: trust me bro thatās the problem
@Texas-Hawk-10 nothing new
I don't get it. Literally the worst KU team effort I've seen since I've been a fan in the late 80s. Don't get me wrong, I'm cheering for them... but good grief it's not easy.
this team is just NOT GOOD
Well at least Dajuan is trying
I wasn't going to watch. But now I want to see if they can beat us by 50.
Oklahoma is 3-9 in the $EC E$PN has them as a bubble team
Flory is very talented. When he figures out how to play complementary ball he will be good. Looks like aau ball too much still. Just clueless how to help his teammates. At least you can see the talent with him, the rest just meh.
Just let Flory play and get Shak out there, please
Build a team with a bunch of quitters from other teams, and this is the result. No fighters.
Clean block, bs
@SlimShaddy54 said in Ute came to the right place:

He needs to be vocal and get on guys
Storr usually makes his first then misses everything afterwards.
Wow foul man bun! We got this
KU is elite in two defensive stats. Opponents FG% and 3PT%.
WIDE open 3
Yay. I love seeing these KJ and Flory minutes. Thank you Bill
Espn box score has the score but records no stats for any player.
The announcers must not have watched us much the last few years. Ball screen defense has been an issue since 22
Hey look, shak and flory in and we start getting stops
I'm gonna be optimistic here and say they're coming to life.
Juan is doing great.
Flory boxed out two guys for Hunt's open dunk.
āDoesnt miss many of those ā and the emperor wears no clothes.
Coit stop forcing the ball
Texas about to beat Kentucky. That game is going to end a half hour after ours was scheduled to start.
Sorry its Coit not Shak. Want Shak.
Not much to complain about with the minutes so far though. Dunno whats up with Shak. But Rylan didnt have it and Storr made sense.
Storr actually fought for a rebound even though he didn't get it. Positive signs.
trying to focus on positives. Plenty of talent on the team. Just need to get it to gel somehow in a couple weeks. LOL
The last couple of games Bill hasn't waited long to pull Dickinson out-- had enough finally of his BS , why we seen Flory Early
On ESPN now.
Playing flat in Salt Lake? Place is flat, yo!
@approxinfinity Not really
Geez you can see it already Coit is becoming bills guy at pg and will play a ton of minutes next year blocking better options at the position
Been there a few times, it's built on the side of a plane moving up to the Wasatch range. So the plane is flat but tilted. Beautiful location. Capitol building is spectacular.
Theres Shak
wow.. i'm surprised we're not ahead by 10pts at least. I guess I misjudged BS again.
daum.
Hunt needs to step up
Looking less athletic and worse than the
Worst team in the big 12 and probably least athletic team as well
How is man bun a decent 3pt shooter and awful at the line
@approxinfinity Yes 96 olympics there and another coming up in the next decade or so. We stayed up in Park City last year. Pretty cool place. My son goes skiing a lot up there.
Man, at some point you canāt say we have the talent anymore. We probably just suck
Haven't we seen this scenario before ? - guys making wide open three's
The lack of effort on the defensive glass is pretty evident
@approxinfinity We havenāt guarded the line for at least a decade
Just not prioritized by Bill
Our bigs have disappeared
Well, I considered a last minute trek to Utah to watch the Hawks. With this lack of give a crap, guess Iām happy I didnāt spend the cash.
The announcers are at least railing on us not defending the 3 point line.
@approxinfinity It is but they are nice
Best friend lives out there and heās from the Midwest but loves it. Heās not a mormon but said itās his favorite place to live and heās lived all over (OK, IA, AZ, WY and now UT)
Kind of ready for Bill to throw a Hail Mary and change the offensive scheme to one that just lets guys launch 3s like he let the 17-18 team.
finally KJ decided to score, rather than keep passing.
Has anyone ever seem madsen and kelly olynyk in the same room together?
Juan is the only one in white that is actually playing hard
@approxinfinity Suburbs do more. My son is pretty progressive and he knew there was that culture there which attracted him. We walked around the whole Mormon area, the temple/tabernacle and it was very strange. One young woman smiled at me like, hey, we believe in polygamy here you want another wife? LOL
@approxinfinity said in Ute came to the right place:
@wissox nice. I need to start traveling more now that the kids are a little older. Sounds like a nice place to visit.
Does it feel mormony?
LOL. Yes. I've stayed in SLC 5 times in the last 15 years. It's not bad now. Was a little weird with the liquor laws/bars/breweries before, but they've relaxed a bit recently.
Juan!
Juan came to play. He needs to wake the others up.
D2 looking good against D2 athletes but least he came to friggin play!
For once heās the more athletic guard on the court
Looks like Juando is sick of this crap. Go, Dajuan!
If it wasn't for umm umm D-2 where would we be
@kjayhawks we need him active in scoring.. dang that 3 looks refreshing!!
@patoh3 said in Ute came to the right place:

He is capable if he doesnāt pass up a dozen open ones
@approxinfinity Coaching material with that look
How does Hunt miss those shots?
got hacked
Doing much better penetrating the circle on offense than passing around it
KJ looking bouncy
KJ's ugly shot is falling tonight
It would be nice of we decided to play the whole game. Letās show up 13 minutes in and see what happens!!! We may get away with it tonight
Commentary from my other half:
Itās funny that the Jayhawks arenāt doing as well since they started paying them.
how many two foot chippies has Dickinson missed this year ?
To play this poorly and only be down two is a good thing
I expect a win tonight, but why the hell do we not come out playing with some frantic intensity on the road? Acting like the lofty king of the hill is killing us early in these road games.
Ok.
Our biggest problem this year is effort and today its starting flat. We need to start Bidunga and Shak. This isnt a mystery. Start people who bring it.
2 chances to tie or take lead. 0-2 on those.
Brilliant. Why not. Just dribble it out of bounds.
Off UTAH
Boom!!!
KJ got jobbed by that ref
Flooooooooooo
Flory from the rafters! Hunter with no D.

Will never happen
Hunter would not have grabbed that lob, just sayin
Hunter makes me say ācome on manā more than anyone.
This doesn't remind me of that great game played here between Magic and Bird.
Ma3o
Flory. All day
Mayo's 3 looks flawless!
Flory is just so much more active than hunt or KJ you have to have him on the floor
Unexpected offensive rebounds lead to wide open 3s
That's a pure block by Flo!
Come on man
Hunt has to make those bunnies
oh boy, HD's bunnies fall short today
Good block Flory. It was going in anyway. hunt good grief, man.
Dumb fans alert
Mayo gets the foul on man-bun.
Seeing all these missed bunnies reminds me of the amazing stat of the day. UW made 20-22 shots inside the arc today.
Hunt is 2/7.
That's a skillful rebounding by Kease
Passmore go get these, kid.
Yay passmore in the books
We were the better team by a wide margin the last 7 minutes
Dang. 4, hang in there.
@kjayhawks nah heās weak, gets pushed off his spot, would foul out playing more minutes ectā¦ā¦right!!?!?
I am looking forward to Elmarko and Kease next year.
@kjayhawks 9-0 run to catch up
Alright feeling better. Hunt plays like his normal self in the 2nd and we win it running away
I assume we all missed the first 5 minutesā¦
Who started? Havenāt seen RG really.
Juan and KJ were solid. When Hunter cant make shots hes painful
Usual guys started @rockchalkjayhawk . Rylen. But he was bad.
@rockchalkjayhawk Rylen started and played 5 minutes. Only stats were 2 turnovers. plus/minus was -7. But everybody started slow.
Kease is an awful FT shooter but has that NFL ready body.
@Zabudda said in Ute came to the right place:

Kelce replacement for next year?
Would be really nice if Rylen, and Kease come back and we see GROWTH, and Elmarko comes back salty.
Part of the joy that is missing is when guys come back and dont get better, it cuts into that feeling we crave that we feel is going away with the portal.
At least for me a big part of my connection to these guys is to see them grow
@wissox said in Ute came to the right place:

Looked up the box score. Tonje had a great game.
Do the guys need red bulls or 5 hour energy before the game?
Apparently the oranges at halftime are an issue...
@kjayhawks good thought. I wonder what they snack on before games
I don't like their 8 3PTs but love our 5!
Saw something about KState being the best team in the country the last several weeks, had some weird stat to back it up, but they got blasted by our next opponent today.
Well down two is better then down eleven like we were
We came in as solo 4th place in the conference. Staying there will be fine with me. I do like to play with a lead every once in a while.
@DanR said in Ute came to the right place:
@wissox I wonder if it's better to get a scrappy, hungry kid from a second tier program (Tonje/Mayo etc) rather than a disgruntled power conference transfer.
Just don't get a transfer that wants 7 figures or is only going to the highest bidder.
@approxinfinity he is killin us by missing two foot chippies time and time and time again

I think Iām disappointed in us likely not being able to play in our own backyard for the NCAAs
Maybe if Danny was our bigs coach maybe hunt wouldn't be missing so many jump hooks. I'd guess he was one of the best ever to shoot it.
Dude shoves Hunt right out of position on that pass.
Unleash Mayo. Dude wants to score.
Rylen gets so square on wide open 3s. Pretty
Money!
2 possessions here.
this is what happens when Mayo only attempted a couple of shots. we need him to score.
Rylan on!
Looking good griff. Bad, then good, then bad then good.
Rylo has a hot shooting night i hope
Jesus Christ these passes. Flory time please
This team...
James Naismith is rolling over in his grave.
3 back to back TOs
Sucks
Rylen go down man dont stumble backwards
we need Flo
@nuleafjhawk I heard like him, our team is in grave condition.
Sit the stick
Have that guy shoot all of their FTās.
HD looks less athletic even against the least athletic team in B12.
Are you fricken kidding me ?- -just get the game tied and then four straight fricken turnovers sloppy lazy passes
The one handed half ass passes drive me nuts
luckily they have gone off the rails too on offense
Yep, i just don't get how in the world you're not passing to Flo.. he's not that hard to spot
And boy.. Juan passed to FB when he's no where to dunk.. damn.. we look like a bunch of HS players.
@approxinfinity can he even do that right ?
It would have been cool to watch tonight and see this team lead at least once in this game. I mean, weren't we like the #1 team in the country for the first month?
I'm assuming this has to be blowing Self's gasket too. WTF is he doing though?
Hunt 2/8? Really man?
Anyone know what Ivy League team also played in that Final Four?
I am wondering if the fact we know we are spending millions on these transfers make it harder to not saddle them with expectations and constantly grade them.
Love the hustle Flory. You got mauled.
Lawson looks much a better shooter, or center overall, compared to HD
travel
What exactly are we watching here?
I mean its mind boggling that we were talking about this team being defensively elite 3 weeks ago.
this has got to be without a shadow of a doubt the worst team for God knows how long
that shot knocked down two players, LOL
Alright. Whew 12 more minutes of this? Lol
I believe coach wants to make friends with the Utes' staff. Make them feel KU is beatable. What they heard about KU - reigning B12 was just a myth.
Why not try STorr some more Hell we are half way through the 2nd half and geting our ass beat by a 5 -8 bunch of jokers
Who mentioned Cooper Flagg? Gtfo

Dude. Do we need a tech here?
Hahahaha there ya go bill way to make it worse
Dickinson has no fire. He had a shot blocked a minute ago and had no reaction at all.
I'm remembering why I haven't watched these morons all season.
Yell at your players, Bill
Hunter's been pretty good for us this year. Tonight he does not have it. Maybe it's the altitude, maybe he went skiing today in the Wasatch and is tired. Maybe he took a float in great salt lake. Maybe he converted to mormonism. IDK.
I donāt believe even a tech will fire the team up.
No Tournament this year.
Hunt made a layup comeback begins now
Hunt made a bunny!!!
T him up
Iām pretty sure my high school intramural team could beat this team at home.

Alright. Lets not lose to these dirty bitches. Come on Hunter! Lets go!
Man tough crowd in here. Several bad calls in a row and no energy from his players, so the coach gets a T. And people are pissed. Self sits on his hands in a losing effort and he gets blasted. Seems like people have their minds made up.
I would have smacked him harder, TBH
4 shooters around Hunt the rest of the way please
That's intentional, no doubt
Another blown bunny
What could have been a 4 point trip or even 5 turns into 1.
Get 1 point out of that smh
Come on guys. this is winnable.
wtf.. still missing FT after the bunnies..
I think what @BeddieKU23 said after the Houston loss is proving to be true. Season killer kind of loss.
oh boy
This team isnt playing with any confidence
I can barely stand to watch HD at this point
I think it's the high altitude affecting KU

Tbh i would much rather have KJ with Flory than Hunter tonight. KJ has played with energy
Shak's dunk will bring this team back alive from braindead..
Seems like every time there's a jump ball it's pointing at the other team.
Flo!!!
If we have to depend on Juan for last minute three's were in real trouble
missed another lob chance by Juan
Utah giving as much as we need to come back four and a half minutes no scoring for Utah
I think they are trying to give us the game we just refuse to take it.
My eyes usually don't bleed during KU games.
At this point, HD doesn't look like AA material at all.
:hundred_points: Still a game we should win.
@kjayhawks they want us to take it BUT - -we say no thank you-- your ball
Mind boggling watching this team and knowing it's Kansas. They don't look coached.
KJ has 4 points and 3 rebounds not sure what galaxy that is kicking ass but itās not this one.
at least i can still laugh - thanks fellas.. lolz
If we could not have 3 guys standing with their thumbs up their hind ends on offense, thatād be great
@kjayhawks 2 for 3 a couple assists and steal and decent D. Good for KJ, IMO
Ziggy --Ziggy - - Ziggy
Diggy
@kjayhawks that's one of our play calls
Shak knows he'd pass when there's pick and roll. the problem has been, KJ is not programmed to roll and score. he's there to pass around.
Wow that kid is 39% FT shooting.
Let's go Haaaaaawks!!! Don't tuah this game
@kjayhawks Has he even touched the ball in the second half or been out there?

At least ten times he just did before he sub out and the announcers were taking about how he never looks at the hoop. Sorry buddy but Kj is definitely not kicking ass tonight. Statistically a below average night for him
@approxinfinity BiDunga
Mayo is done
@kjayhawks OK dude

Come on rubber man, Zeke. You are young and limber. Shake it off.
@DanR Bad roster but the coach thinks the players are great
Paired with awful management of said roster
Paired with archaic offensive and defensive philosophies
Gets you want 5-7th place big 12 finishes and what 13-19 on the road the last 2 years (something atrocious like that)
But yeah Iām sure it all gets 100% fixed next year and the right guys will get all the minutes (cough cough Iām calling Diggy playing way too much right now)
F.. this has been a bad season
I'm googling knee injuries right now. Says rub some dirt on it.

@kuballin10 in fairness to Bill KJ has 4 fouls. The problem is that Hunt sucked tonight
Also Storr was bad.

just a struggle every game -- night in - -night out- -- KU ha never led in this game
Team interprets "winning ugly" literally, night in night out
@rockchalkjayhawk 4 out of 12 or something like that
Really wish it wouldn't come true
@approxinfinity running 3 bigs now - Billās favorite dream lineup!
This team is so bad and going to get blitzed to end the season in kc and in the tourney
Iām not sure how fans can watch and have any belief. In fact, most I talk too have all checked out and watch but donāt even get mad when we lose. Thatās proven here with guys/gals doing other things.
Iād never miss a KU game but when they become average quick - itās easy to find something else to invest the time in versus guys who get praised but arenāt good enough and a coach who has no clue what to do about it

I'm a lot more excited about our football game against Utah tbh.
That's a bad sign for the bball team. And a good sign for the football team.
Flory pivot bro
3 bigs in and canāt board
But uh uh I thought heights= rebounds (bills mind exploding along with all his basketball truths being proven false)
Donāt know what all you guys see in the break, but that colon guard commercial has me cracking up. Those poor mail room folks getting nothing but boxes of š© every day!
The ref inbounded the ball at the wrong place. Should have been smack in the corner. Much harder to inbound the ball there.
3 bigs and can't get a rebound. Pathetic
Utah fourteen offensive rebounds- -- holy shit

I think this by far is our worst team since Self took over ever - -here comes the Court Storming -- we are making everybodys year -- true laughing stock of College Basketball
Smh this game is on Bill Self donāt give a rip what anyone says. He fucked his brain with all of his health issues
Still winnable if we had one aggressive stud
@jay4ever say it with me archaic
Transfers take forever to pick it up
Defensively we donāt guard the three point line
We play 3 bigs and canāt rebound
Retire Bill before you waste 1 year of prime Kobe Bryant!!!
You already threw away Wiggs and Embiid with the Tharpe debacle and now itās DP getting hosed by diggy
I can see this crap already āoh diggys been the best guard in practiceā will be word from @BShark ans @FarmerJayhawk - meanwhile stud transfer canāt pickup the offense or defense to bills liking
Good play Juan
@kjayhawks why single him out? didn't he have coaching staff? 3-4 people can't say a jack about his flaws?
@BeddieKU23 We will get dog stomped by BYU

Every SOB on the staff needs to go at this point.
Just lock it down on these punks come on
Itās over canāt score 10 over 1:30 itās done
Offensively we couldnāt get it done even if we get stops
never practice the press so why bother
2 3s from Mayo, Diggy, we're heading OT
Well, weāve let other teams come back from this far downā¦
Mayo is trying
how is this crap possible -we just flat SUCK PERIOD
could've been a flush by Flo
@jay4ever account for them hitting some free throws - itās over
Never lead at a 5-8 bad Utah team
Another L on the road
Getting texts from Bama āwhatās up with Kansas man - you guys look like 1980ās ball with this offense and ur losing to white guys with short shorts who can shoot itā
Storr is out there. I'm sure he'll come through
I bet Zeke could make a bunny if he would look at the basket instead of throwing his head back nearly every shot trying to draw a foul.
I hope Bill puts some TLC into next years roster
I never wouldāve guessed in a 100 years we hold them to 36% shooting and not only lose but never lead the damn game
@kuballin10 wow, surprised, your buddy's watching this game.. lolz
Another awful loss. This was an inferior opponent
Game ova! Night. Have a great Sunday.

@kjayhawks Calling our coaches SOB's is something you could do but it's not right.
Alright well I'm going to go watch Darryn Peterson highlights. Have a good night
Why doesnāt Hunt shoot those before we are in desperation mode?
That's why I always value kids who dunk given the ability..
still in it LOL

Well Iām sorry but the way they have coached this season they deserve it. Just flat out stupid basketball
Boy, this team is really frustrating to watch.
Weāre gonna have to break down why in a separate thread.
Looking back, how the heck we beat the devils?
@approxinfinity Hope heās not around
Heās been given the best roster for multiple decades and delivered twice
Time to go live in FL and golf everyday
The fact he canāt get this squad playing well and guys played better at other top programs than ours tells me the game has passed him by
He will stick around - we will get bounced in sweet 16 with Kobe Bryant at guard because of some suspect minutes distribution - same stuff versus vcu in 2011, so on and so forth
Not sure why it is BS's fault that no one can get a rebound or a layup, but sure, yeah, blame the coach. Roy Williams missed all those shots against Syracuse, too. Damn, this is easy.
@jay4ever said in Ute came to the right place:

They are young and it was super early
Shak is the mystery to me. Need defense. We shouldnt be acting like a football team with a separate offense and defense team. We need a blended team that can score.
@kjayhawks looooolzzz
@kuballin10 who got to decide BS got lifetime contract? i believe he'd call the shot, right?
Hey well U Conn lost again today so there is that lmao

Was debating the same thing earlier. We were down 6 with a pure D team in the floor, except for Diggy. Weird.
@kjayhawks He cosches, evaluates in practice and is confident these are the best guys
I think he puts more emphasis on whoās good based on practice and not the actual games based on these last 2 years
no more needs to be said about Dickinson- -he has done proved the point

Right why was he taken out while he was a big part of them not scoring for 7 minutes. Canāt be Selfs fault for pulling I guess Rylen and AJ must have had a great practice week and all the sudden learned to play defense smh
@jay4ever He hadnāt coached em yet
He runs in the locker room āwe got guardsā or maybe it was the interview
Guys shot the 3 with confidence
Oh and Hunter didnāt play the last what 10 minutes and Flory did great but people swear still to this day he isnāt good enough
Might drop out of the rankings for the first time in a long time. Probably still make the tourney to keep that streak alive. This team has regressed every week since the start. Concerning to say the least.

Seriously, this team looks like Div2 or HS team these past few games.. i'm lost
Now eight losses-- - - -and then there is this - - -Houston - -Loss -- -Texas Tech - - loss -- -Arizona loss- - so that's at least eleven losses
Ok im going to start a new thread about something
@approxinfinity get your popcorn ready, folks
@SlimShaddy54 we're playing catch up with the Utes..
Will we even win 20 games to keep that streak alive?
@kjayhawks what streak? another achievement for BS? the most active HC who's got most 20wins streak... gossh
just checked - -KU had been ranked FIRST in constitutive weeks in the top 25 at -- --231 -Say good bye to that

I believe its at least 20 wins in a season since 1989
i don't care if we lost to better teams, but with bright sides, like different style, improved rebounding, offense.. not lost like this to least winning team. sucks..

This team is going to completely erase a lot of Kansas basketball history. Itās because we are lazy and poorly coached
@kjayhawks said in Ute came to the right place:
@mayjay He built this roster and coaches them every day for them to turn out the say lazy ass performance. Please enlighten me on how Bill isnāt accountable for this, this team is exactly what I said it would be with Juan (played great tonight), KJ and Hunt.
Self can only repeat the same message so many times. At some point, the players on the floor have to make a decision if they give a damn or not about their pride and effort. If they're fine with collecting their NIL checks and that's the most important thing to them, then this is what we'll get.
@kjayhawks wish ewe could yank these over paid bums NIL cause they sure don't deserve it. -- They are getting paid now - -this program at the present is in /Shambles
@Texas-Hawk-10 Or maybe just maybe the players getting all the minutes arenāt that good
And the system employed isnāt as well
Pair those with quick hooks and favoritism and Bill gets what he made
Blaming it on nil is a poor loser mentality as my boy Jeter would say - losers always have excuses
Reality - his favorite players arenāt actually good at basketball. They get all the minutes, they have all the experience, he built the roster around them and we have more Lās than ever before in Selfās history here
But yeah letās blame NIL for this even though Self hand picked the squad
@jay4ever said in Ute came to the right place:

Cuz I was at the game! Iām nearly undefeated.
@kuballin10 I know dam well that your not going to actually try and say Griffen and Storr are better I know your not that stupid
@Texas-Hawk-10 Right but itās same story, Hunt doesnāt attempt to play defense and never has at any point in his collegiate career, heās lazy as hell on the glass. KJ super under sized big, struggles to get rebounds and shots off in the paint rendering him useless most nights without a jump shot. Juan was pretty good tonight but heās very limited athletically and isnāt aggressive enough offensively. AJ Storr was notorious for lacking effort thru out the season. Zeke Mayo canāt play defense never has/ never will. The jury has been on this for years! Please explain to me how when this is known by the coach none of it is his fault. Itās called accountability he built this roster and it arguably the worst in 40 years

Yes got to change some contracts, if you donāt play hard you donāt get paid. If anyone one on here showed for work time after time disengaged and not getting it done, Theyād be fired. This is a job in a sense for them, they aināt doing fire them. Iād rather play walk ons that try and get beat by 50 than these goons just half assing it repeatedly
Only solace is that we get closer and closer to senior day and wishing good riddance to a majority of the team
Let my 9 year old stay up and watch this one. 3:31 left in the game, 62-60 them, Hunt fouls a terrible shooter. We sub out the only guy going for rebounds. I tell my son we probably just lost because even if he misses we canāt rebound with this group. Sure enough it happens and they get 2 points out of it. I hate myself for being right most the time but for as much as a few of you give me grief, about 95% of what I say happens.

Did I say Self was blameless? No, I did not. Is Bill Self 100% responsible? Again, no he is not. At what point do the players bear any responsibility for their play on the court? This where I take major issues with you and others views because y'all never place the blame on the players when they play with zero effort, it's always Bill Selfās fault for not properly motivating his team. So again, at what point do these players bear any responsibility for their lack of effort on the court?
And yes, I do believe NIL is a factor in that self motivation. Who are the two players that have been criticized the most for lack of effort this season? Do you really think it's a coincidence that Dickinson and Storr are also the highest paid NIL players on the team and also the two most often criticized for a lack of effort on the floor. They have their money, they know they aren't NBA players at this point, and that jas shown bright and clear with their effort at times this season.
So yes, Bill Self gets the blame for the roster construction, but the players take 100% of the blame for their lack of effort on the court.
You can even go back and check what I said about this team before the season when someone else here was trying to rip me a new one for saying this team was only slightly better than last season's when he was claiming this team was going to make a deep run despite ignoring me pointing out the lack of NBA talent on the roster this season.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I like your response and no it isnāt a 100% on Self for sure several times on this thread alone I got on the players. Especially Hunts effort tonight but IMO when you build this roster knowing Hunt and AJ were both like that last year and still include them on it itās more on the staff. Iād put about 65%-75% of this on Self/staff especially after what was said after last season by him. As I said before his mouth wrote a check his ass couldnāt cash.
Heās washed up and dying on his sword. If it wasnāt for me wanting to see Darryn Peterson and Oats having a large buyoutā¦Iād recommend turning the program over.
@TYOHawk I have never been this frustrated with any KU BB coach in my life. That being said I think we give Bill next season as long as Dp still comes and Flory stays. He has done enough to have a few bad seasons. If Dp/Fkory jump ship itās over and we need to move on from him.
This is perhaps the least entertaining Jayhawk team Iāve ever experienced and one of the worst teams. Iāve been watching for 60 years.

We are in the pace and space era and we really run lineups with 3 non shooting bigs and a non shooter at PG.
Itās the type of thing you would laugh at happening in another program but itās become normal here. It almost feels like a middle finger to the fan base at times with some of the lineup decisions.
I saw a Dajuan/Shak/Diggy/KJ/Flory lineup tonight man. Who is supposed to score or create shots in this lineup?

Fun with the box score.
This pretty much sums up the lack enthusiasm tonight:
REBOUNDING
Utah 46 KU 36
OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING
Utah 16 KU 6
But just for fun Iāll throw in:
FG %
Utah 36.5% KU 40%

I think what @BeddieKU23 said after the Houston loss is proving to be true. Season killer kind of loss.
The Creighton/Missouri week was the first sign this was a broken bunch. The Houston loss just kind of cemented how disconnected this group is together.
So we were the biggest win in Ute history and they didnāt even storm the court. Guess it really wasnāt a big deal after all.
Question of the week: how many hours per day does our coaching staff spend in the restroom trying for a bowel movement?
Iād expect people to be disappointed, but the only āsolutionā I hear around these parts is fire the coach. SMH unoriginal, boring, tired, sad. If this applies to you, pick your head up - KU isnāt likely to win the national championship this year or next or the next or the next. Itās just a numbers thing. If the National Championship is all you care about, you will be disappointed nearly every year of your fandom. At best you might enjoy one in twenty years or you could root for a team like Missouri and not even know what a final four is like.
If you canāt have fun watching the team grow and competing you will be disappointed nearly every year. For instance, some are really enjoying watching Flory develop. He could be a great player if he figures out how to play with others - help defense, why positioning on offense helps the flow, etc. I look forward to seeing how his KU career progresses.
To me it looks like the team lacks an emotional leader and that canāt be the coach. They need a Travis Kelce, DeVonte Graham, type hype man. There arenāt any true alphas (Frank Mason, Mario Chalmers, Tyshawn, Robinson, Ochai), demand the ball in the crunch time players on the team. I suspect this is why there is such a big let down on the road compared to home performances with the crowd providing the energy at Allen and a lack of an alpha to carry/spark them.
The pieces are there, the spark isnāt. That is on the players to find. You either want it or you donāt and some (most) donāt know the effort it takes - I sure didnāt put forth the effort in sports that I thought I did in hindsight. I quit when I got wore out or hurt instead of pushing thru like, not my, but my loved ones life depended upon it. I didnāt have the heart of a sports champion, I hope the team finds theirs.
Thereās no solution. Theyāre just not that talented and outwardly look like theyāve quit on their coach and vice versa.
We just have to wait it out cause Self has a fetish for the core 3. If things look this bad next year with Darryn and Flory then conversations will be had.
Iām not enjoying watching this team. Iām enjoying watching my 11 year oldās team as they use fundamentals on the court, run real offense and their bigs stay in the paint. This KU team is an assault on everyoneās basic intelligence of the game. There is no excuse for what we are seeing.
@approxinfinity - can you rename the site to KUbitchin? Jk lol
sheesh one Russian bot with intent to sow dissent on here has turned this from a fun sports site to a sad therapy session within about 18 months. Incredible.
Well. I wish i was within 100 miles of you @drgnslayr i would come hang out and talk about your sons game instead, positively of course :)

I agree with you on two points, but disagree on another.
Yup, they really lack a hype man leader this season. Pretty obvious. Without ever really realizing it, maybe that whatās it takes to win. Maybe itās not as easy in the one year rental era to find that guy?
Zero spark most days. 100%.
Are the pieces really there? I donāt think they are.

Right, this is why on several other sites there is talk of Norm Robertās running the show and Bill has suffered a stroke of sorts. Idk what the scoop is but we just donāt play smart basketball and we donāt seem to coach with any common sense what so ever.
@rockchalkjayhawk Fair enough. A spark would sure get this team to overachieve - they have beat good teams when they find it. But they lose to crappy teams when they donāt have that edge - Utah, Missouri, K-State. Come on.
Braun nailed it - play for the name on the front of the jersey.
Now wtf to do if itās correct? Buy all the road tickets so they have energy there too? lol Better recruit a hype man for next year, a vocal leader.
Itās more than play for the name on front of the jersey imo. Theyāre just not that good. All of these guys sans Hunter arenāt talented enough for the roles theyāre placed in. Dajuan is fine as a starter if you have 3 other NBA players. KJ is fine if you have 2-3 floor spacers with him. But together with Dajuan it doesnāt work.
Theyāre just not that good. Itās maybe 1 nba player on this team.
Hunter Dickenson is Alex Rodriguez...a diva who's hard to root for...and who has more empty statistics than any player I remember. So many points/rebounds against crap teams and in games that are already decided
We just have to find a way to get the guys engaged and wanting to play basketball again.

I don't want to start a fight on here, frankly I think this is just a really inefficient medium to have a conversation about this. But man...if you think Self doesn't deserve a whole lot of the blame for this one, I just don't know what to tell you. (IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT SAYING FIRE SELF)
The pieces very much are not there. Hunter Dickinson is slow and easy to exploit. He has a terrible attitude, is a bad defender, and a sloppy player. He relies entirely on his size (and I think HD is the least of our concerns).
AJ Storr was notoriously an inefficient player. He takes a million shots, which is the only reason he averaged the numbers he did. When you're a coach with a notoriously quick hook for poor decisions, that's an odd choice. He's also switched schools every year since he was 15, so you know he's probably a poor fit for a school that prides itself on playing for the name on the front instead of the back.
Dajuan is small, can't shoot, can't score, and frankly I think is an overrated defender. Did everyone forget what it was like to have a PG that could score? We went from having Miles, Chalmers, Robinson, Collins, Taylor, Mason, Graham, and Dotson. And now we have a guy that's lucky to average 8 points.
I'm not gonna pick on KJ. It's not his fault he's in this situation, and I'm not gonna repeat what everyone has already said. But suffice it to say, he's a problem. He's undersized, he's relied on way too much to play a position that he doesn't fit. Think about the SF and PF guys we've had over the years, Wright, Arthur, T-Rob, Perry, Jackson, Ochai...we're asking a guy for a lot who's probably at best a defensive specialist (he's not that great of a defender, largely because he can't be at his size, at that position). That's a steep drop off.
You could just as easily point to the rest of the team and say the same thing. Coit is Charley Moore essentially, undersized, bad fit. Griffen looks like his confidence is shot, and he hasn't been what was advertised. Shak Moore is fine, but he can't score. Mayo is fine, but he's the second scoring option when he should probably be the fourth.
When you say the pieces are there, I couldn't disagree more. They very much are not. You have 2 scoring options. That's why we pass the ball so much and it looks like nobody wants to shoot. The roster doesn't fit. Self was always great at breaking guys down over the course of multiple years, and building them up based on his philosophy. That's not the situation anymore, you don't have the time with these guys anymore, and I question whether Self can adapt. I hope he can. He's the best coach in KU history. But he's also human. He has an ego like anyone would in his situation. His assistants are largely his friends, I honestly don't know what they provide. This very odd, very mismatched roster is on Self. It just is. The buck stops with him, and those other factors just exacerbate the problem.
Guys I can tell you, KU will lose every road game from here on out. They will lose at BYU on Tuesday, they will lose at Colorado, and we will get destroyed at Houston. Seriously, place a bet on it. I have! Betting on KU to lose on the road at this point is free money. We'll probably lose at home to Arizona too.
Guys, things are bad. Bad, bad. You can try to equivocate and compare us to other programs, but we're not other programs. You can't have it both ways. Expectations come with the territory.
We are at a crossroads. I do think that a big part of this is the FBI investigation that killed our recruiting. KJ and Dajuan are part of that. They were consolation prizes at a time when we couldn't get big names. Let's be honest with ourselves, they would not be playing here otherwise. They are the types of players you throw onto a roster to round it out. Not guys who are multiyear starters, playing a ton of minutes.
The FBI stuff is over, maybe we'll turn the corner in recruiting now. Peterson is the REAL DEAL. Him and Flory together could be special. You find a few Zeke Mayos to throw around them and we could have a special team. You lose either of those guys and...uh...we might need to have a serious conversation about Self. I genuinely don't know. We will see.
@MoonwalkMafia pretty much exactly how I feel but you are much better at putting it to words. Iām sadly wondering if the Golden age of KU hoops from 1984 to 2022 is done. Will we ever be like that again?
Hereās the thing..he never tried to recruit over KJ and Dajuan. Thatās what puzzling to me and a result of him being stubborn.

This is an objectively false statement. At PG, Self has brought in Bobby Pettiford, Jalen Coleman-Lands, Remy Martin, and Elmarko Jackson.
At forward, Zach Clemence was in the same class as KJ. Others expected to take minutes from KJ were Ernest Udeh, Zuby Ejiofor.
Obviously, none of those options worked out except for Remy for the last few games, but to say Self never attempted to upgrade those positions is just flat out wrong.

This is untrue imo. Pettiford wasnāt ever a threat to take minutes from him. JCL is more of a two guard than anything. Remyā¦no need to go into that situation but we had an actual nba player coming off the bench for a minute due to Self not benching Harris. Elmarko played the two as well as Arterio Morris even though they were evaluated as point guards. They played as secondary ball handlers cause God forbid anyone actually gets to be the primary handler when Dajuan is on the team.
Clemence came in the same class. Zuby and Udeh are 5ās which theoretically KJ is but he complained about playing the 5. So we moved him to the 4 and have yet to try to upgrade. We passed on getting Harrison Ingram who ended up being a NBA player due to KJ.

Hindsight is easy to claim Self didn't attempt to because those players didn't pan out as hoped for. It still doesn't change that the reality was that Self and staff did attempt to recruit over Harris and Adams.
When Self brought in Pettiford, JCL, and Remy, all in the same class, the expectation was never that Dejuan Harris would be the long term starting PG because he was not a starter at that point. Marcus Garrett was the starting PG during Dejuan's 1st season playing with Dejuan coming off the bench that year.
The plan the following year was that Remy starts, then Pettiford would take over the following year. Self absolutely recruited that class with the expectation of Pettiford winning that job long term. Also, notice that I did not bring up Aterio Morris because he wasn't brought in to be a lead guard. Elmarko Jackson was and was forced to move off ball because of Morris being kicked off the team. Jackson was absolutely expected to start as a back up and push Dejuan for minutes as the season went on.
With KJ, Clemence was always the bigger name in the class and expected to take those minutes. KJ played 5 minutes per game as a freshman. He was not guaranteed to start the following year. That happened because Udeh and Ejiofor weren't good enough to take those minutes. And no, Zuby was not projected to be a 5 long term, he was projected as a 4 long term. That's the spot he's playing now at St. John's. Hunter Dickinson coming in and running those two off changed the outlook of KU that season because there was a lot of talk of KJ also leaving because of Hunter.
So again, just because the players didn't pan out as expected, that doesn't change that Self didn't make efforts early on. Later on, there's politics involved in recruiting that play into situations like recruiting over multi year starters. For better or worse, the optics of recruiting over guys like Harris and Adams later on would have a negative impact on Self's reputation among recruits, especially multi year prospects.
There's absolutely a balancing act involved and too many people here don't understand how important that aspect of the job is.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Your objection is objectively false as Iāve proven
D2 started every game NEXT to Remy. Everyone thinks remy started for d2 but that never happened until remy got nicked up
Bill was always starting d2 because he said heās the John Stockton of pure pgās. He NEVER recruited guys over him just guys to play next to him or spot him minutes
Identical with Kj as proven by @BShark and @FarmerJayhawk how we were out on stud 4 guys because they knew coach loves Kj
Who did he recruit to take the ball out of Dajuanās hands and not play alongside him?
Iāll be waiting cause it never happened.
@Texas-Hawk-10 geez revisionist history
D2 was recruited over by arterio lol heck no. It was d2 with Morris starting at the 2 guard per Puerto Rico and everyone who follows the hawks knows this
You must not see bills loyalty to d2 but he 100% had the keys from 2022 on

If you remember the Michigan State game the year we won the title. The lineup was Dajuan/Remy/Ochai/CB/Big Dave. Jalen came off the bench. Now that couldāve been because of his dui or incident but Jalen didnāt start if I recall until Remy got hurt.
He has never tried to take the ball out of Dajuanās hands. It is a blatant lie to say he did. He recruited guys to compliment him but never tried to upgrade

I already laid it out for you and have pretty explicitly said multiple times that obviously that vision didn't work out as anticipated. You choosing to not accept that was the vision at the time doesn't change that was the vision at the time.
So tell me, after the 2020-21 season with Marcus Garrett as the starting PG, how many people were projecting Dejuan Harris to win the starting PG job long term with a 2021 class that included Remy Martin, Bobby Pettiford, JCL, and Joe Yesufu? Did Self bring all those players in that class because he thought Dejuan Harris was going end up being a 4 year starter? You don't bring that many potential short and long term answers in because you think the answer is ready on the roster.
I'm done responding to you on this, I've answered your question multiple times, you choose whether you want to accept that answer or keep using hindsight, but I'm done addressing it.

You canāt address it because youāre wrong like me and Kubballin have told you. Since 22 Self has never tried to recruit over Dajuan. He has recruited guys to play alongside him. Morris, JCL, Remy, Elmarko have all played the two while DaJuan has ran point. Even now when Diggy and Shak are in with Dajuan he is running point.
Two of the most laughable things Iāve ever read in my life as a KU fan are in this thread. First one- KJ Adamās kicked ass last night⦠26 minutes, 4 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Second one- Jalen Coleman Lands was a Point Guard or recruited here to be one. I literally spit out
My drink at that one!!
@TYOHawk spot on my friend, Remy was a renta player that wasnāt quite good enough to make the NBA for 1 year not sure how in the hell that could be labeled as Juanās replacement with Juan being a Sophomore at the time and as I put above JCL was never a point guard by any stretch of imagination.

Coach allowed his loyalty to burn him with those two. It is what it is. Iām not a big Dajuan or KJ guy. But one of the truly sad parts of this is I genuinely believe him and KJ give all they have..but they donāt have the talent to be built around. Itās frustrating.
But next year is a fresh slateā¦hopefully it reignites the fire in Coach.
Agree. It makes me sad that I am conflicted about KJ and Dajuan. Kids we should root for without an astericks.
@kjayhawks Iāll cut @Texas-Hawk-10 a ton of slack on jcl statement. He goes back and forth with us on here and has some knowledge about the game.
I enjoy the jousting even if heās told me Iām a dumb mfer lol
I want Self gone this off-season which people are shocked by. But seeing Liam McNeely and Philon get legit run and play well - they would not do that here. Even if they got run they wouldnāt score say the 38 like Liam had the other night. Self would lose his mind and itās like he never lets players do that. Itās honesty really odd the more I dive into his philosophy along with how heās won consistently but struggled to reach the mountaintop with top rosters
Self and his system are toast. He isnāt getting 3-4 year guys to stick around and if thatās what he needs to run his perfect little system than itās outdated and a bad system. Explains the upsets and playing down to our comp in March.

Great kids zero doubt just not starter level KU players
Self never intended to recruit over them and he flat out didnāt. He brought in other players but never guys we knew would take their starting jobs.
Itās been multiple off seasons of ā1 and 4 are locked inā. You donāt think recruits and transfers know that - well shoot I have an beachfront property in Kansas to sell ya!
Bill tallied his horses to miniature ponies that he thinks are Clydesdales. Heās too arrogant to about face and hes too sawwfft to do anything about it now.
Next year will be diggy and dpā¦..he loves a good undersized guard who canāt guard or attack the paint - just float around the 3 point line with āenergyā
@kuballin10 :hundred_points: Philon would never got double digits minutes playing for HOF BS. It's certainly a big loss.
https://www.si.com/college/kansas/basketball/bill-self-rips-team-himself-after-kansas-brutal-loss-to-utah: ā
^Self didnāt just direct his criticism at the playersāhe called out the entire program for its inability to rise to the challenge.^
Q: what does he mean by including the entire program here? NIL? recruiting weak-arse guys?
^āIām tired of regrouping,ā Self said. āWe donāt need to regroup. We need to be men as an entire organization and do what our job is to doāaccept responsibility for everybody when we donāt do it well. We didnāt do it well at all tonight.ā^
Q: again, the entire organization.. - obviously his staff needs awakening or getting fired.. aside from players need to box out more, etc.. etc.. and of course coaching sucks.
@jay4ever Good stuff
Self doesnāt need a complete retool philosophically but he needs to adjust heavily
Donāt give up easy baskets and get them makes sense but today Iād rather have a guarded guy go 1 v 1 in the pain than let a dude chuck a wide open 3
The goal in todayās game is to run guys off the line and have them take a bunch of mid range jumpers. Defensively thatās what you want to have happen but we are the opposite as our rotations are such that we donāt recover quick enough and give up open 3
That paired with how we space and move the ball offensively is just brutal. Thereās a reason guys come here and their free throw attempts per game plummet because the system has no spacing.
Throw it inside to āopen up the 3ā doesnāt work anymore because coaches fake double and recover or just let their big guard 1 v 1 and are okay giving up 20 points to Hunter. Granted he misses a ton of bunnies just like kj and a lotta of guys because guys are athletic and guard them straight up wel
Distance to the basket doesnāt always equal better - Self gotta grasp that
@benshawks08 The issue is more-so how he reacts to guys differently based on in game mistakes. Thatās caused the serious division on this team.
Rylen and Storr have had some good moments and plenty of awful ones but getting the quick hook to watch the big 3 continually screw up and get dominated creates dissension.
This is all Self inflicted and he used to be able to get away with it via the seniority card but now when seniored guys transfer in who produces well elsewhere and he treats them different it creates exactly what youāve seen play out.
Guys are pi$$ed and tired of the bs from bs. Treating three guys like they walk on water when in reality they are getting blown out while then defending those three is bad.
Iād be hard pressed not to tell the coach to take a hike as well because he clearly doesnāt have a clue how to handle the squad. He hasnāt gotten through to them but thatās because of his treatment starting early in the season.
Messing with starters, saying he messed up storr, saying storr and Rylan arenāt getting it - same old bs from bs except they were at other programs that recently are more successful than ours. This causes the basketball iq to say this old goat is off his rocker, sawft and we are playing black and white 1950ās ball - Iād be checked out as well after a few quick hooks in Nov/Dec

Bill's lost it. Even his technical was weak and unconvincing at Utah. He doesn't have fire behind his eyes anymore.
I'll be shocked if he goes another year. Shocked.
The question is... does he stay and mentor a replacement?
@kuballin10 Come on... Yes, there are issues, but putting it all on the handling of Storr and Griffen? While Alabama has definitely been better the past three years (remember they lost 12 games last year), Wisconsin has not - they went 22-14 last year. Storr led them in scoring, but was high usage and very inefficient - 43% from the field, 32% from 3, 4 rebounds and one assist per game. Doesn't defend. He had no shot as a 3 and D in the NBA unless he improved his shooting and more importantly, defense, which is why he came to KU. It appears that he is what he has been, doesn't have the requisite BBall IQ, or is just unwilling to do what is necessary to become a better player. He was a recruiting mistake much more than a usage one...Griffen is basically a one-dimensional player - a good spot up shooter - who fit well with the other pieces around him at Alabama. Not so much here - Harris isn't Sears in penetrating and creating opportunities for shooters...
I agree that HCBS has always shown a quicker hook for some players and not others who seemingly make the same mistakes, but in this case, the problem is more a roster construction one than usage....
I hope your wrong about the end for Bill. Just don't see him walking away from a down year and bringing in Peterson. He will set the program back further if he leaves now and Peterson bolts, which would happen 100%.
I hear the other side of this argument but I can't imagine Bill isn't giving his best efforts and I have no doubts he would hang it up if he didn't have that desire
@DCHawker Storr is a black hole- -he gets the ball 85 % of the time it's not coming back.-- Like the other night , he hits his first shot , very next time down the floor one pass goes to Storr and surprise jacks up another three - -terrible shot.-- He has no desire to play defense , he rivals Dickinson if not worse on the defensive end.- -His shot volume is unreal. Like has been said multiple times hee there is a reason why he has been to so many Schools.
There is a reason he didn't end up Declaring for the NBA this past year- got to many deficiencies , he won't play NBA-- he might make some money over seas but for sure he isn't cutting it in the NBA.
Griffen is better but still has problems just dribbling the ball down the floor without dribbling it off his leg or trying to drive between two/three opposition- - -no matter what some that are obsessed about Firing Bill THIS is far from being all his fault.
@DCHawker putting it all on those 2 guys? Heck no - I listed 5 when you count how he handled the big 3ā¦..
This is well past two players but itās shown how those guys were successful elsewhere and they come here and struggle
Thatās because of Self and his bad system/philosophy
@BeddieKU23 Bill with DP thinks next year is his year
Book it
Wonāt win the big 12
Lose in the sweet 16 to a higher seed
He will have diggy eating minutes and DP throwing it into the post to ārun the offenseā his way
His brand of basketball has always been unappealing. Roy never won titles but boy were his teams fun to watch.
The 2008/2022 teams almost collapsed multiple times in the tournament to severely lesser teams because of how Bill likes to limit possessions and win rock fights.
It is the exact opposite of what you do if you had his kind of talent. Itād be like Ohio state wanting to slow it down and limit possessions on Notre dame - thatās what Norte dame would have wanted to give them a better chance - shorten the game
@kuballin10 would you rather Bill be gone instead of one more year, if it means we lose Flory and Dp?

He hasn't lost it, he's just over this team and this group. This was his response about KU getting off to slow starts and he pretty much threw the team under the bus for their lack of motivation and effort.
"I think you should probably ask the players that. The first possession they score off a simple ball screen, and we're in a certain coverage. And guys were surprised were surprised we were in it and we've only been talking about it for, you know, 24-48 hours. So that's frustrating. I don't know exactly what that answer is coming out of a half time different or starting a game differently. I really don't know what the answer is on that, because it seems to me to start any athletic contest both teams are usually pretty geeked up and on point. Even though you don't always play well, but usually the mistakes that you make aren't because you aren't aware of that. 'This is how we're going to try to guard.'"
Most of y'all know I coach at my middle school. I coach football, basketball and soccer there. Every year at the beginning of the first basketball and soccer practices, I ask my team why they're out there to play (I'm head coach of those sports, not football though). Are they out there for fun or to try and win a district championship? I then explain the differences in how I will coach them depending on what they want their experience to be. After they inevitably choose to go for a district championship, I then explain to them what goes into winning a district championship and if they're ready to make those sacrifices. Most teams ended up putting forth their best effort to reach that goal and some were successful, some weren't, but they were better teams and players by end of that season. It's been a successful strategy with several basketball championships and rebuilt our school's soccer program from the worst in the district when I took over to a championship team last season.
@kuballin10 Almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades
@approxinfinity aghhh thatās a tough one
If it is true Oats wants to come here I donāt think we lose DP and Flory. I think Adidas steps up so with or without Bill I donāt think it matters.
Now to play the game if the options are Oats and transfers but lose DP and Flory or have Bill and those 2 - I want DP more than Oats so can wait 1 more year lol
Bills gonna butcher it and mess something up about that squad and we wonāt run anywhere close to like we should. Good chance the 1 and 4 are young, unproven and will tick Bill off with their play and he will defer to more seniorād guys who are in the right positions (canāt make the plays but hey they are at least standing on the court where he wants them) but limit the March ceiling
My confidence in Bill is below zero much like the current roster
@Texas-Hawk-10 Setting the expectation upfrontā¦.you gotta be in sales too lol

You look at them out there and they are lost. It's almost March. They didn't look this lost in November.
I've been the biggest supporter of Bill Self going back to Day 1 at Kansas.
It's time for him to ride off in the sunset.
@drgnslayr This is the issue with high dollar NIL deals for players who don't have an NBA future. They don't care because they got theirs. It happens in the pros a lot to when a player signs a huge contract and their production amd performance drops off a cliff.
@Texas-Hawk-10 one has to wonder exactly when these kids / man children lost the love for basketball, where that wouldnt be reason alone to give it their all.
Every team faces the same issue. It's not a valid excuse when you compete against teams facing that same problem. The problem is he doesn't know how to reach them, or teach them.
This is the oldest team in college basketball with the most experience. There is no excuse for playing this level of basketball.
Did ya ever notice how much nicer the posts are when KU is winning?

How many schools have multiple players on 7 figure, or close to it, NIL deals where those players have zero chance of ever making the NBA? Name them.
So they get paid more than don't perform? So you are saying our problems are solved by cutting off NIL money?
Does KJ and Juan make huge NIL money?
Your view of these guys isn't positive at all. They came here to scam us, huh?
I don't buy that for a second.
@drgnslayr There are players that don't give a dam about the School - they don't think about the history of the School , the tradition of the Schools. A lot of these players are fringe NBA at best, they make more money in College then they will in G league because that's where they will end up , or over sea's, so instead of declaring they come back, they KNOW they are getting bank NIL and that's all that matters, their thinking is hey I'm making my money I could give a crap less about the game- - lets get this over with
KU has a couple of these guys right now, their focus is crap ---- their intensity is crap -their team concept is crap- - you could ask these guys about unity- -love of the game and they will look at you like what the f - - - are you talking about,-- They actually don't give a dam - -you wanna pull me- - then pull me I'm still making my NIL- -so ya they do need to get rid of this dam NIL-- it's ruining the College game
I myself don't give a dam if other teams players are facing the same thing - - I'm worried about Ku players and only KU players and right now with the approach some players on this team has - - It would be fine if they just kicked their ass out of here, get guys that wanna play for the game , for the School screw the rest
You could be right... so we suck because we don't know how to pick players with character. (sarcasm)
I mention all schools in the same boat because it supports the idea that we aren't cutting the mustard against other schools. Time for an administrative change.
But come on... it's more than that. I guarantee none of these kids are evil. They came and are getting well-paid and they aren't secretly flipping off KU.
@drgnslayr no they are not evil- - just twisted, it's all about money- -I'm telling you a lot just don't give a dam about the school- -they love the bidding war for their so called service.-
The Frank Mason - -Devonte Graham -- Christian Braun-- Thomas Robinson - Mark Turgeon days are history- -these guys I mentioned really care- -you could tell they loved the Coach They had true feelings for the School - -Not any more

KU's total NIL budget last season was about $4 million. It's a similar amount this year. So no, Dejuan and KJ are not making anywhere close to what Hunter Dickinson and AJ Storr are making in NIL money who are taking up well over half of KU's NIL budget if their NIL deal numbers are accurate. Dickinson and Storr are taking up the largest chunk of KU's NIL budget. Which two players have been criticized the most this year for not putting forth the necessary effort at times? Storr and Dickinson. Those two do not have an NBA future and making more money in NIL deals at Kansas than they would over in Europe playing pro ball.
Those two got their bag, complacency set in once they secured their bags, and we're seeing that fruits of two high dollar NIL players without NBA futures.
So again, please tell me another school that has two players making what Dickinson and Storr are making in NIL that do not have NBA futures.

I just looked at Dickinson's stats over his college career. He's up and down in categories over his performance at Michigan, but nothing is glaring. His rebounding #s are definitely up at KU.
I'll stick with Greenberg's opinion that he should be spending his time in the low post instead of out on the perimeter.
If we used him right his numbers would be flying off the chart. My question... who decides if he plays down low or up high? Isn't that Self? If Self designed him in the low post and he refused to do it, wouldn't Self pull him?
Listening to anothr KU Pod Cast and they were saying and I had already seen this in person so pretty well knew but people crying and bitching saying Storr should be playing more ? - - -- WHY ? what has he done to justify him getting more minutes.?
One thing we do know is - - Storr ranked third- -THIRD ! ! !NCAA/NATION - -in shot attempts to reach 16.0 per game- his shot volume is insane
One thg we do know about Storr is , in the little minutes he has played the first time he catch's the ball it is going up----- - your not getting it back- - he either clangs it up OR he tries driving the base line.-- It's like I'm getting mine.
There was an excellent question asked in the pod cast. They said they feel like the Staff should be asking these kids in the portal
Why are you wanting to transfer ?- -Like for Rylan-- Rylan why you wanting to transfer ?-- Your coming off a Season where you wer the starter on a final four program ?
AJ-- ? - -enough sid- -Four diffeent High Schools -- Three Colleges ? -- umm sorry AJ just don't think we can use you here lmao
.
In our starting lineup we have:
3 players with the experience of a Final Four (2 with a National Championship), and 1 player who is a two-time second-team All-American.
I wish people would stop vilifying our players. This is a team with plenty of talent, enough to be thought to be #1 at the beginning of the season. And it's more than just hustle or attitude. I can 100% guarantee you can pluck any of these players out of this team and stick them on another team and they will perform at the level that got them to Kansas.
It is pretty obvious these guys aren't meshing together and some may be bad fits for this team. That still doesn't explain them only going even with BYU's 3rd string.
@drgnslayr Hunt in the post missed bunnies and is often double teamed due to the defense not respecting any of our other players besides Mayo to hit a 3
@drgnslayr I think you mentioning two players as national title winners but not understanding 1 played maybe what 3-4 minutes all tournament and the others minutes were cut in half from the regular season -
Brings you to the conclusion that the roster is good enough when it isnāt even remotely close
Bill on the other hand canāt maximize his talent unless heās had them here for 4 years to play āhis wayā
When DP starts every game feeding the post it is yet again Bill not even grasping how basketball works today. He still thinks you gotta throw it inside to open up the 3
@kuballin10 that crap ain't happening next year , you can take it to the bank - - - Not Happening- -more reason then not this year was because supposedly we had this stud muffin 7'2 All American that was automatic from down low , why it was through him 75 % of the time
Turns out that 7'2 All world stud turned to and all nothing creme puff that thought he was Steph Curry. -- They ARE NOT going to run the offense through Flory, it will be run or evolve around Darryn. The One position Bill has never had problem and players evolving is Guard position. - Wings possibly- -Bigs maybe --But NEVER had problems involving and guards developing
