He's starting over Dawson and Jackson, As long he plays with effort and isn't afraid to let it rip from 3, he'll be fine.

My concern is if this team ends up becoming too reliant on Peterson to do everything on offense.

This is essentially a 3rd exhibition games for KU. We know this is a great defensive team. I think the offense will get there, but they just need more time playing together to build chemistry. I still don't see this being an elite offense, but they should still be pretty good by March.

Love watching Council. We haven't had anyone this fast end to end since Dotson, maybe longer. He's a legit blur

I imagine that good teams will go right at Flory to get him in foul trouble early. Then they'll double DP all game and make others beat them from outside the paint. Will be interesting to see how Self schemes offense. Fortunately for him their defense will keep them in most games.

I’ve been looking for the go to guy if DP gets hurt. I think it’s probably Council. Elmarko was someone I was hopeful for but he still looks like he doesn’t know that he’s playing basketball out there.

Going to need more out of Tre White and Rosario.

This team really could have used Diggy off the bench imo.

KU womens soccer up 1-0 with 3o minutes left in 2nd half in the Big 12 quarterfinals. KU is 7 seed, the hillbillies of WVU are the 2 seed so this is a minor upset in the making, but KU has a pretty solid side this year so it's not going to be a surprise if they pull this one out.

@DCHawker it will probably be the Flory and DP show early in the season. We have some good athletes and I love seeing us actually pushing the ball. But we have to get these guys to become better basketball players and we have plenty of time to do so.

@DCHawker A lot of the 3's KU has taken have been good looks within the flow of the offense. It'd be nice to see more drop, but as long as they aren't forcing it, it shouldn't be a big issue.

Too close for comfort.

Saw a lot of positives tonight, I was worried about our lack of 3 point shooting coming into this year and that will be a working progress going forward. Guys are still learning where to be on the defensive rotations which is to be expected. Bench needs to be more aggressive when on the floor. We’ll see what Friday brings

A lot to be happy about. Love the lack of turnovers, energy on defense, and efficiency on offense. Just need some 3s to fall and it’ll be a very dangerous group.

TCU loses to New Orleans. UCF in a tight game with Hofstra. Colorado losing to Montana St.

Overall the team looked good. Some sloppy stretches, but nothing awful.

Ngala might deserve some real playing time. Good shooter, fluid with his movements, quick, pesky on defense.

Udeh, Zuby, Storr, Coit, Griffen, Grant Foster all did pretty well tonight. Zach is the only 1 that I see that did not do much. He started for Tx A&M, but scored 2 points in 17 minutes with 5 RB’s. Philon did well too. Another one that slipped away from KU.

One thing I was focused on was Dawson since he's been basically MIA through the 2 exh and 1 game so far. He doesn't look playable right now which isn't good. Perhaps he isn't healthy and is trying to play through whatever leg injury he has. Body Language and aggression are not there when he has been in the game. Not someone that looked to be fighting that hard to get back in the rotation. Mari was playing twice as hard as him and Kohl has certainly shown he's valuable to this team. Hopefully he can figure it out as the season goes.

Yea kind of wild to see Dawson playing like a freshman and the freshman playing like a vet.

So far imo:

• DP - better than I expected. Legit #1 overall guy
• Flory - right what I thought. Will have good and bad games.
• Tiller - better. Maybe significantly
• Rosario - better, way better than I expected
• Elmarko - worse, slightly
• council - better, slightly
• Dawson - worse, significantly
• McDowell - right where I thought
• White - slightly worse so far
• Mbiya - maybe a little worse. Thought he could be a dunk machine.

Still a very good 10-man group. Hoping to see them still be elite defensively. Team plays above the rim and can really push the tempo. Better shooting team than I expected, mostly from DP so far. But outside of Flory and Mbiya everyone who steps on the floor is a threat to shoot the 3.

They handle the ball well and pass well. Sometimes too quick of a shot but I’m not complaining too much about that. I like that we pick up full court. I think we have the bodies and athleticism to do that.

They do need to find something from the bench. Tiller is good there. But they need a guard to step up a bit. Ideally Elmarko…

It was boring. Which is fantastic. Didn’t have many boring blowouts the last couple years.

I didn't expect Elmarko to be much better than he was as a freshman (ie, I expected him to be sped-up and inconsistent on defense). He now plays with more poise, plays solid D, and has hit his free throws so far.

Physically ready to compete now. He has looked much more comfortable out there so far at least.

I'm just wondering what value he's going to give as the season wears on. Offensively we've seen nothing different from his freshman year. He's not playing to his strengths and athletic ability yet. I want to see more, he's got to be a dependable player for this team.

@Jhawk69 I guess I was just hopeful that he would be able to be some kind of offensive threat. Either in transition or with the ability to drive to the rim.

But so far he's really not done a lot. He had 11 in that Louisville game, but 9 were free throws. He's made 4 baskets in 66 minutes of playing time. I figured he would be better than that...

At the same time, none of the guards on the bench are doing much thus far. He may be the best of the bunch. At least he can defend and knows his role on this team I think.
