@DoubleDD Yes, but who do you have confidence in recognizing it, and then making it? WVU was double teaming well above the key - someone has to be open - 1 or 2 quick passes and make them pay.

OK Jayhawk fans we need some luck. Whatever you do? Do it twice. If you have a wife or husband kiss them like when you first met them. If you have a dog let pet them and let them hang out in your KU room. If you have kids and grandkids pat them on the head and teach them the game. Maybe we can turn the tide, if not at least if KU loses you will be surrounds by love ones.

@globaljaybird We're stuck in no man's land. Self's traditional High Low is non-operational with this team either due to insufficient big man understanding or poor passing ability. We have disparaged the 3 game that we were showing success at and not willing to game plan for that strength. Have adjusted Perry to initiate offense from the top of the key, but that doesn't work against pressure D and certainly not if he's sidelined with injury.

Doesn't surprise me with the two big men in that we didn't post a big at FT line against the zone, but really....need to find an identity.

@Blown Thank you for mentioning this. Jaybate, in his "Bad Ball" post, basically described Self's season-long strategy for developing a tough team that can survive a March run. Last year, we were thoroughly exploited in March. This year, Self is making sure we are exposed for all to see before the big Tourney so that maybe we can heal and learn and become stronger for a big run.

Today, we had to prove that we could do things without Ellis, and the bigs really came through for us in the second half.

I'm not sure what we learned tonight other than if we play hard we can pull a game out. I guess it was thesame last game as well. So outside of hard play, what is our identity going forward?

@VailHawk my comment is a generalization toward the poor officiating I've seen over the last 5-6 years. But yes, I thought it was poor and inconsistent on both sides of the ball. The play where the point guard for WvU reached out and slapped Mason's hand down and no call was made took it to an entire new level for me.

Calls were very inconsistent, but at least in the OT they kept calling fouls.

And there's something to be said for a team that hits their FTs when everything else is going wrong.

BTW, when Oubre went out, I was pretty sure the game was over. Somehow, we survived with Perry and Cliff out of the game. Not sure I would have believed it was possible.

No consistency either way. Like freshmen refs or rec center refs. You know if you're not gonna call a foul don't call it either way. If you call it, call it both ways. No wonder the kids look confused out there when fouls are called.

There is a possibility that Self saw in practices what the team's 3 pt shooting was really like, and we happened to catch aberrations on tv. It's hard to understand the data if you don't have access to all of it.

@Blown Yeah just the OT. The brandy's out in the shop & I cant stand espn. Simon is one of the few I can listen to as he does not come across like a total effin know it all like most of their color guys. He's too young to be disrespectful to traditions yet. The dish is a minute or two behind the radio plus I like to listen to the Self show, senior speech, post game & ugh, did I say brandy's in the shop? Plus I like that damn cigar afterwards too. Hard to turn em loose. Picked that up watching old Red Auerbach & his Celtic champions & older Grandpa Charlie when I was a young lad. Besides, Davis & Gurley have a whole different level of excitement when they call a Jayhawk game. Max was the same damn way. Sounds like a puss, but I literally had tears the final night Max called a game. Only other time I did that was when Wilt came back for his Jersey retirement. Special times for this old Hawkfan. And another conference title leads the nation again just like the # of all Americans. I think we'll have another next year in Perry. Sure hope he's OK but have not heard from Self yet.
