Clay Young = 3rd Post Man
Dec 02, 2017 11:26 PM #1

DeSousa, Sosinski, get ready!!

He knows the freaking plays!!

Dec 02, 2017 11:30 PM #2

@jaybate-1.0 Really funny, in the box score he has 1 assist and 3 pfs, and no other stats. But might be mvp after DG for filling the post for over 9 minutes--which let DG go crazy. Took a charge, just as ML took two earlier. Doing the fundamentals very nicely!

Dec 02, 2017 11:32 PM #3

@mayjay

And he’s doing it against giants!

Dec 02, 2017 11:41 PM #4

Corona Time! Let's go Jayhawks!

Dec 02, 2017 11:42 PM #5

Yes! Exactly what I was looking at the entire time he was in... good footwork, good position, blocking out, not letting the footers push him around...Really pleased with Young's play today so far.

Lob city

Dec 02, 2017 11:55 PM #7

For them too😳

Vitale🤢

Dec 03, 2017 12:06 AM #9

Waiting to hear from all the experts who not so long ago said Graham did not have a Mason-esque personality to take over a game when we need it.

Dec 03, 2017 12:14 AM #10

Vick😱

Dec 03, 2017 12:14 AM #11

career high for DG and not done yet... sweet

Dec 03, 2017 12:24 AM #12

terrible game for Newman, one of the few low points tonight (well besides the first 10 minutes of the game in general).

Dec 03, 2017 12:26 AM #13

@StLJhawk Terrible game for not only Newman, but also Doke. Graham and Vick have more than carried us so far. Not much help anywhere else...

Dec 03, 2017 12:30 AM #14

I'd have to go with just bad for Doke, he's pulled a couple of rb's, been a presence inside, hasn't fouled out, had a couple of dunks to keep his percentage up. Malik just looks cold and slow tonight, almost like he has a cold or something. But yea, DG and Vick look awesome.

Dec 03, 2017 12:34 AM #15

Just peeked at the stats, Newman FG- 1-8 and 0-6 from 3, but 5 assists though. Doke - 100% 3-3

Dec 03, 2017 12:37 AM #16

@StLJhawk man got to make open shots. Don't want to see Oregon like games this year. Man oh man. That and his turnovers and fouls. When he's bad, he's pretty bad, but when he's good, he's terrific. Got to play smart, not stupid.

3 questions....
Vitale and Co. were blabbering so much I didn't hear what happened twice: 1. When Devonte shot the Tech in the first half...what had happened so that Cuse got the ball?
2. When it appeared we both were in the lane on the Cuse made FT, why did they get the ball?
3. Did anyone else think that Vick turned down too many open shots in the middle of the zone?

Thanks

Dec 03, 2017 12:42 AM #18

@Hawk8086 3 - yes Vick looked very passive in there. He should have shot the ball every time and had like 30 points. Why he didn't take advantage is a mystery. That hurt us a bit because that was the most open spot on the floor.

Dec 03, 2017 12:42 AM #19

Cuse fans after the game.

My answer to two of those: -- Yes I thought anyways - -Vick had a lot of open easy looks in the middle , didn't even look just automatically kicked it out - -and then on the double ft lane violation it goes as a alternate jump ball. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dec 03, 2017 12:50 AM #21

@Hawk8086 On the first question, I think that with the rim hang stopping play on the T, it may have gone back to Syracuse on alternate posession (our rebound therefore not counting).

Dec 03, 2017 12:51 AM #22

Hawks wound up pasting them!!!

Dec 03, 2017 12:52 AM #23

Another nice stat: No turnovers by our post triple threat in 40 minutes of play. Few chances, but still, exactly what you need!

Dec 03, 2017 12:52 AM #24

@BShark

PHOF!

Correct. Technical was for making a play on the ball while hanging on the rim. When it happened no one had possession so they went to the possession arrow.

Dec 03, 2017 12:56 AM #26

We end up shooting 49% from the field - -36 % from the 3 which for the way we started out isn't THAT bad. - - 11-13 from the free throw line - - decent on the boards - -only got out rebounded by 5 on the boards - -going against the tallest team in the Nation not that bad.

I will still say I just think it's imperative , we have got to get some other big's on board.. - We come up against QUALITY big's could spell trouble - as much as I like Mitch we all saw what happens when the competition takes a step up. Mitch is a good kid, just his athletic ability against some of these guys just not going to cut it.

We have just got to get Billy back - or De-souse -the foot ball walk on or what have ya. - The perfect scenario would be would be to have all three - that would be one hell of a Christmas present. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dec 03, 2017 12:58 AM #27

@Hawk8086 On that rim hang question, we won the opening jump and also had the first possession of the 2nd half. I could not find any other "jump ball" alternating possession possibility in the 1st half play by play, so I think my earlier explanation is likely.

The announcers were pure crap at explaining anything, so I spent a lot of time looking at the ESPN box score during the game to find out who fouls were on, etc.

Dec 03, 2017 01:02 AM #28

@jayballer54 Mitch took a step backwards for sure. He just doesn't seem to be able to play defense without fouling.

ya the poor kid - -he tries just doesn't have the talent. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dec 03, 2017 01:12 AM #30

For the 2nd game of 7 Clay out played Mitch IMO. The big first half run started with Clay in and he actually did better guarding Chukwu than Mitch. I wonder what the chances are of De Sousa and or Solinski being better than him?

Dec 03, 2017 01:14 AM #31

@jayballer54 more awareness than talent, imo

Dec 03, 2017 01:35 AM #32

@Hawk8086 yes on vick! That's his shot! At least look like you might take it. I was very aggravated at the announcers. It's about the game not you guys!

Dec 03, 2017 01:40 AM #33

@Crimsonorblue22 coach said he was better the second half when he was looking at the basket. This game will be a good teaching tool for the team.

Dec 03, 2017 01:43 AM #34

Made me mad when dickie v got on dte about celebrating his shot! Just play bb. He went on to shut him up!🤐 That's coaches job not not his.

Dec 03, 2017 01:49 AM #35

@jayballer54 Thanks, you former ref. I thought I knew the rules pretty well, but I did not know that one.

Dec 03, 2017 01:49 AM #36

@Crimsonorblue22 I agree, I love when players show emotion, especially when it’s positive. DTG is having the time of his life out there why not smile or throw up 3 fingers. Don’t get me wrong I think you can cross the line but he’s far from that IMO. Dick would never say such to a Duke player.

Dec 03, 2017 01:50 AM #37

@mayjay , Bshark. Thanks.

Dec 03, 2017 01:54 AM #38

@kjayhawks Yes. Clay seems to make the right plays when he gets in. Appears to have a good BB IQ. When he made the quick bounce pass out of the middle.......very nice.

@Hawk8086 good questions and the answer to#3 is yes

Dec 03, 2017 02:28 AM #41

After listening to coach bahumbug in the post game, why on earth would guys want to play for him? I think he wanted a ksu banner for sticking to a zone cause or cuse we scored below our average.🤔 Even though they still lost😳 💡🎟🥈

Dec 03, 2017 02:41 AM #42

@Crimsonorblue22 Which coach? I'm having trouble understanding your post.

Dec 03, 2017 02:47 AM #43

Boeheim! So whiney! Thinks because his zone held us under our average it was the right thing to do. I'm not a fan.

Dec 03, 2017 02:48 AM #44

@KUSTEVE sorry, got a lil carried away!

Dec 03, 2017 02:57 AM #45

@Crimsonorblue22 He's known as the biggest whiner in basketball. Gives us zero credit.

You'd think with all his stupid comments where he gets excited he wouldn't be such a scrooge mcduck over a mild celebration.
