Just getting stoked. Man I love me some KU basketball, and college Basketball.

First game? One team is flirting with Folk lore, and the other with greatness. Should be a great game.

I'll be rooting for Loyola to Ramble on. What a great story the Loyola players will have to tell whether they win or lose.

This day has taken 3 weeks. It's like time has stood still.

I really want Loyola to win. My wife is Loyola Chicago alum. Should be an interesting weekend should Loyola and Kansas advance in the semis.

These are two of the slowest teams in D1 tempo wise. KU is the only team in the top 50 of tempo so if we can get an up tempo pace going, that bodes well for Kansas.

Tough having Doke's mom coming out, worried that was too much emotional luggage in a game where Doke was not the best option down low.

Only way we have a chance is to speed up the tempo. Doke is too slow. Id go with lightfoot. He can close out faster and affect shots at the rim.

It's a 4 guard offense tailored to our personnel. Jay Wright has run a 4 guard offense for most of his tenure at Nova including just about every variation of it. There's nothing KU can run in their 4 guard offense Nova hasn't run in the past.

If I played us Id NEVER double Doke. He isnt that great with moves. A ton of his points are off of other guys penetration and kicks or lobs. Then go at him and get him in foul trouble. Then if you are a Nova type team you stretch him and make him run and gas him.

Vick can leave. Good player but not great. Makes too many turnovers same for Devontae this year.

Nova handles it so well even being an older team we were junior high sloppy with the ball all year

bottom line our perimeter d did what it does—not defend.

we didn’t rebound.

the only chance Kansas had to win was try to match their scoring and Self held them back and instructed them to play in the paint.

regardless, we couldn’t have kept pace with 18/38 threes anyway.

No way u ever double doke force a guy who doesn’t score 20 a game to feel the mental stress when he has a quick 8-10 down low to continually scoring which mentally makes u feel selfish and letting ur team down when u miss

He was a freshman asked to carry a big role on a really bad cal team. His size is what concerns me the most as he's looked like a middle school player since he got here. He can play and with a possible 4 years here it will be impossible to expect he won't step up at some point

@kjayhawks make zero mistake about it. Bill has his faults and has had his failings. It's just simply that this season as a whole was not one of those. But.... It's also anyones choice to think whatever the hell they want about him honestly. And to say it

@kjayhawks not hating man stating issues in basketball philosophy. Hall of famer and does great with low talent just needs to put guys in better positions and change some things. Don’t get defensive man everyone loves bill but he’s not infallible.

Barrett is a future stud. Jones is going to have some tough moments, Dotson is better then him. They look like a team that will have no bench or size but they might get another 5 star in montgomery.. who knows I don't see it with them

I can hesitantly agree...would rather play Garrett at the point. He can get to the rim really well for his size but has a looonnnggg way to go to do that. Would like it only to play 4 big guards who can all defend. If bill preaches D like he claims he does Charlie isn’t playing much

Michigan is helplessly overmatched but they defend so it will be lower scoring then 95

Wow, if they do this to us...hate to see what they will do to Michigan. I see a 20+ blow out in the NC game. I think it's safe to say that Nova will be the next NC. If they play at this level or higher, it's not going to be a game at all. Nova could have an average game and still win by a fair margin at this point. I was afraid of this possibility. Another team beat three B12 teams to the NC game...WVU, TT, and KU...wow...WOW. They beat our top three teams in the conference and the conference champion, conference tourney champion...WOW. I have no words.

Great season and couldn't have asked for more. They are a great team and special.

@kjayhawks I'm w/you. After losing preston, doke hurting his knee, and getting a high schooler ready to play, I'd say Self did pretty darn good. He put up w/a lot of crap this year. We are really losing a great leader in dg, not sure where that's coming from next year.

@BigBad Assists comparison is irrelevant because of how much better they shot. DG set up Malik, Svi and Vick 2 times a piece for good open looks that were missed from 3, Garrett also missed 2 3s that were so open I could’ve at least drew iron. The team that shoots the best will have the most assists 9/10 times.

A few years from now this season by Bill Self will be even more appreciated. A lot of people here over value "our guys" as far as talent goes. This group is really just a talented college team and void of real NBA talent. The kind of talent it usually takes to win it all.

If we continue to go inside to start games and run the third grade weave I’m gonna meet bill on hawktalk and instead of an autograph ask my question then hand him a book by jay Wright’s basketball philosophy and two titles.

We talk all the time on whiffing recruits that duke, uk and unc get.

Nova has our level of recruiting but wright has figured out defensive pressure based on today’s game and offensive spacing/ball movement with guys who can shoot but maybe aren’t top 10 recruits.

@kuballin10 Actually by rankings Nova recruits on a slightly lower level than KU. They will sign guys in the 75-150 ranking range in the early period without hesitation. Wright has a good eye for evaluation and knowing who they can get.
