Excited to see more reveals. Hope they get in and do well.

Apr 17, 2019 01:45 AM #2

I hope trob!

Apr 17, 2019 01:49 AM #3

Oh and please everyone if you can support the team on the TBT website. Doesn't take much and they still aren't in yet.

Apr 17, 2019 04:57 PM #4

Kevin Young revealed today.

Apr 17, 2019 05:45 PM #5

@BShark nobody more fun than him!

Apr 17, 2019 05:48 PM #6

Took me a bit to figure out the header. Thought it needed put under the general/political discussion section for a bit. 😂

Apr 17, 2019 05:51 PM #7

I may watch this year. This group should be fun. I hope they pick up Jamari and T-Rob. Perry may finally get to play some 3 😂

I never watch but I will watch this team.

Apr 17, 2019 05:53 PM #9

Oh and I would bet insane amounts of cash that TRob and Tyshawn are on this roster.

Apr 17, 2019 05:56 PM #10

@BShark Oh I'm sure. And probably Russell Robinson. He played in it before.

Apr 17, 2019 07:08 PM #11

Would be cool to see Withey join Trob and Ellis. Monster front court.

Apr 17, 2019 07:34 PM #12

They can't add too many guys. Otherwise the prize is getting split too much. Have to find that right balance.

Apr 17, 2019 08:03 PM #13

@Kcmatt7 I thought I saw something like 12 guys. That seems like way too many. I would think around 7-8 guys. Although they have to play in a qualifier in Wichita to even make it to the "real" tournament so maybe some guys are not available for all of the dates.

They can carry 12, but historically most have carried less so they get a bigger piece of the pie

Apr 18, 2019 05:30 PM #15

Releford confirmed.

Apr 18, 2019 06:37 PM #16

Fun team! Awesome idea!

4 left to reveal, will happen next week via their twitter account. I will post all of it in this thread.

Apr 22, 2019 03:52 PM #18

Given the reveals so far, they need two more guards, a true big man and another wing.

Tyshawn is likely one of their guards. TRob could also participate as the other big man, although they may need someone with more size since both Perry and Kevin Young are undersized. Xavier Henry could be an interesting addition, but probably won't be on the squad. They need at least one shooter, so someone like Tyrel Reed would be nice. Withey would be a great add to give them size. Most teams have at least one guy over 6-10, so having a footer will be important.

Apr 22, 2019 04:20 PM #19

@justanotherfan I think Mario little is one, I hope trob is the big, afraid it's LL. Somebody said nadiir. Tyshawn for sure, the 3 sign, his signature

Tyshawn is the lower left corner silhouette IMO.

Apr 22, 2019 04:57 PM #21

Top right looks like Mario Little. Bottom Right looks like T-Rob. Bottom left looks like Tyshawn. My guess for Top left is Withey.

Apr 22, 2019 04:59 PM #22

Honestly, would be a salty bunch.

If this happens...4 bigs on an 8 player roster. Also the team would be named the Brick Masons. Hell this roster would excite Bill so much he'd probably coach them if he could.

Apr 22, 2019 05:33 PM #24

@BShark They still have to be one of the most talented teams in the tournament overall. Even if Perry and Mario are playing the 3

Apr 22, 2019 05:47 PM #25

@Kcmatt7 big rematch for some-Perry-w/WSU. I hope I can go.

Apr 22, 2019 05:58 PM #26

@Crimsonorblue22 was right, one of the bigs is Landen Lucas.

Apr 22, 2019 10:23 PM #27

@Kcmatt7 I’d take that for sure. Want Withey and Trob before we even talk about Lucas.

Apr 22, 2019 10:24 PM #28

Apr 24, 2019 06:27 PM #32

@Crimsonorblue22 - who’s the other big man to sub for Landen?

Jul 23, 2019 08:30 PM #52

Darrell Arthur

Jul 23, 2019 09:04 PM #53

@Crimsonorblue22 Can't say I've ever wanted to watch Tharpe play again...

Jul 23, 2019 09:07 PM #54

@ajvan agree, the team really needed another guard though

Jul 23, 2019 09:16 PM #55

Jul 24, 2019 10:14 PM #62

@bcjayhawk ?s=21. Live stats all I could find

Jul 25, 2019 02:06 PM #63

Definitely will support, even Naads. But make no mistake, EJ + TT were that every so often dual-combo-guard tandem that fed off each other (RussRob&Mario, Frank&Devontae). EJ alone in 2013 proved it. He needed his buddy Tyshawn, both together = NC title game, and 3 missed dunks were not on them. TT was unguardable. Curious to see if that 2012 magical chemistry returns (goodTT + EJ).

You can't come into this thing without having practiced and having sets to run that are not just college sets. It's a serious tournament and it doesn't look like they took it too seriously.

Yeah that’s kind of what it looks like. They’re better than this.

Jul 25, 2019 11:40 PM #97

They have played so ungodly bad if they can it back to 9 or 10 at the half, they have a shot.

Jul 25, 2019 11:43 PM #98

@kjayhawks that’s a pretty big if after witnessing the first half live

Jul 25, 2019 11:44 PM #99

@HawkChamp just need to tell the guys to play together and start doing the simple things like boxing out and moving on offense.

Jul 25, 2019 11:46 PM #100

They’ve been practicing. Losing perry hurt! Landen sucks, sorry. DA not much help.

Oof

Jul 26, 2019 12:10 AM #106

Be lucky if it's less than 20 at this point, need a run. We look old, slow and uninterested.

Jul 26, 2019 12:10 AM #107

Jul 26, 2019 12:22 AM #112

It seemed leading up to this all the players were taking this serious. However, after watching this it doesn’t appear they are.

Jul 26, 2019 12:25 AM #113

Perry is huge

Jul 26, 2019 12:26 AM #114

Yeah no Perry and no Mario Chalmers really hurts

Jul 26, 2019 12:26 AM #115

Let's wait til we're down 20 in the 4th to play defense smh. Remind me of some other games in a tournament.

Jul 26, 2019 12:31 AM #116

Yeah and wait to speed the game up. This was a great team to run up and down with.

Jul 26, 2019 12:40 AM #117

I'm wondering how much Perry's injury played into this. These guys have pro contracts outside of this tournament and I'm wondering if they backed off after Perry's injury to preserve themselves for the professional teams.

Could be, who knows. Arthur was visibly frustrated during timeouts. I’ll have to watch highlights of him versus UNC and Memphis to forget about today’s game.

Jul 26, 2019 01:08 AM #119

Morningstar is a bad coach, LL and DA can't make baskets or block out, TT had a few oops, bad passes. I really think Perry getting hurt changed the game. He's a scorer. I mean they had to play case!😳 let us pick the guys next year. Guessing Perry won't do it again. He has a torn patellar tendon, surgery next week. Hate to see such a great guy have to go thru this.

Sucks for Perry.

Fwiw they wanted some other guys such as Tyrel Reed that couldn't make it work. Also can't have any NBA guys iirc.

Jul 26, 2019 08:26 PM #128

I was excited for this game, all the more since EJ was building it up on his new podcast, Foul Shots. What a bust.

Who knows what would've happened if Perry had played, but they came out slow and without energy. No bounce, no fire. Gave up easy baskets and lost the battle of the boards—both energy categories. I'd love to see Withey in this next year, and Trob, if he hasn't caught on with an NBA team.

Jul 27, 2019 12:58 AM #129

With Perry having a torn patellar tendon, it sounds like there's a possibility his basketball career is over.

While Perry is recovering, I wouldn't be surprised if Self gives him some kind of support role within the program this year to get a head start on on a coaching career in case his playing career is over.

Jul 27, 2019 01:39 AM #130

I feel terrible for Perry and we can see why most of our big name alums stayed away from this tournament with no guarantee of a decent pay day.

If he does have to retire that would be awesome for Self, Perry and the program.

Jul 27, 2019 01:54 AM #132

@BShark For Self and the program at least. I don't think Perry would choose that path at this point in his life voluntarily.

Jul 27, 2019 03:12 AM #133

I just meant if he had to do something else it is good for him if that is how it plays out. I'm guessing his first choice would still be to hoop as well.

Jul 27, 2019 02:16 PM #134

As horrible as the injury is, I’m glad it didn’t happen straight out of college. The what if’s would’ve been haunting for Perry then; now he pretty much knows where he stands.

Jul 27, 2019 09:40 PM #136

Aftershocks, afterthought

Jul 27, 2019 10:16 PM #137

@Crimsonorblue22 That sideline cancer squad is salty.

Jul 27, 2019 10:24 PM #138

@BShark yeah they shoot it really well. Kinda reminds me of a Villanova type team. That sort of team is one that we see do well at the collegiate and professional levels - 4 out 1 in, lots of ball movement and shoot the three well.

Jul 27, 2019 10:36 PM #139

A lot of second shots

Jul 28, 2019 12:16 AM #140

Sideline Cancer has been in the tournament several years now, those guys know how to play well with each other at this point.

Some of the better options the KU group could get to play are over in the Big3 league, so not available for the TBT. KU guys in the Big3 league are Drew Gooden, Mario Chalmers, Brandon Rush, and Julian Wright. That's why there were some players who would've been a great fit on Self Made that weren't there.
