Would be cool to see Withey join Trob and Ellis. Monster front court.

They can't add too many guys. Otherwise the prize is getting split too much. Have to find that right balance.

@Kcmatt7 I thought I saw something like 12 guys. That seems like way too many. I would think around 7-8 guys. Although they have to play in a qualifier in Wichita to even make it to the "real" tournament so maybe some guys are not available for all of the dates.

They can carry 12, but historically most have carried less so they get a bigger piece of the pie

Given the reveals so far, they need two more guards, a true big man and another wing.

Tyshawn is likely one of their guards. TRob could also participate as the other big man, although they may need someone with more size since both Perry and Kevin Young are undersized. Xavier Henry could be an interesting addition, but probably won't be on the squad. They need at least one shooter, so someone like Tyrel Reed would be nice. Withey would be a great add to give them size. Most teams have at least one guy over 6-10, so having a footer will be important.

@justanotherfan I think Mario little is one, I hope trob is the big, afraid it's LL. Somebody said nadiir. Tyshawn for sure, the 3 sign, his signature

Top right looks like Mario Little. Bottom Right looks like T-Rob. Bottom left looks like Tyshawn. My guess for Top left is Withey.

If this happens...4 bigs on an 8 player roster. Also the team would be named the Brick Masons. Hell this roster would excite Bill so much he'd probably coach them if he could.

Definitely will support, even Naads. But make no mistake, EJ + TT were that every so often dual-combo-guard tandem that fed off each other (RussRob&Mario, Frank&Devontae). EJ alone in 2013 proved it. He needed his buddy Tyshawn, both together = NC title game, and 3 missed dunks were not on them. TT was unguardable. Curious to see if that 2012 magical chemistry returns (goodTT + EJ).

Is this really on espn? For fans of past KU BB, seeing these guys play together is THE biggest treat of the summer bar none.

Tickets to the entire Wichita regional are like $75 right?

I do see that Wichita sold more in ticket revenue than the rest of the regional locations combined...

You can't come into this thing without having practiced and having sets to run that are not just college sets. It's a serious tournament and it doesn't look like they took it too seriously.

Yeah that’s kind of what it looks like. They’re better than this.

They have played so ungodly bad if they can it back to 9 or 10 at the half, they have a shot.

It seemed leading up to this all the players were taking this serious. However, after watching this it doesn’t appear they are.

Could be, who knows. Arthur was visibly frustrated during timeouts. I’ll have to watch highlights of him versus UNC and Memphis to forget about today’s game.

I couldn't agree with you more - -these guys looked like crap - -old an not interested period - -I saw nothing to that got me the least bit excited watchin I turned it off pretty sad display

Morningstar is a bad coach, LL and DA can't make baskets or block out, TT had a few oops, bad passes. I really think Perry getting hurt changed the game. He's a scorer. I mean they had to play case!😳 let us pick the guys next year. Guessing Perry won't do it again. He has a torn patellar tendon, surgery next week. Hate to see such a great guy have to go thru this.

Fwiw they wanted some other guys such as Tyrel Reed that couldn't make it work. Also can't have any NBA guys iirc.

I was excited for this game, all the more since EJ was building it up on his new podcast, Foul Shots. What a bust.

Who knows what would've happened if Perry had played, but they came out slow and without energy. No bounce, no fire. Gave up easy baskets and lost the battle of the boards—both energy categories. I'd love to see Withey in this next year, and Trob, if he hasn't caught on with an NBA team.

With Perry having a torn patellar tendon, it sounds like there's a possibility his basketball career is over.

While Perry is recovering, I wouldn't be surprised if Self gives him some kind of support role within the program this year to get a head start on on a coaching career in case his playing career is over.

I feel terrible for Perry and we can see why most of our big name alums stayed away from this tournament with no guarantee of a decent pay day.

@BShark For Self and the program at least. I don't think Perry would choose that path at this point in his life voluntarily.

I just meant if he had to do something else it is good for him if that is how it plays out. I'm guessing his first choice would still be to hoop as well.

As horrible as the injury is, I’m glad it didn’t happen straight out of college. The what if’s would’ve been haunting for Perry then; now he pretty much knows where he stands.

Aftershocks, afterthought

@Crimsonorblue22 That sideline cancer squad is salty.

@BShark yeah they shoot it really well. Kinda reminds me of a Villanova type team. That sort of team is one that we see do well at the collegiate and professional levels - 4 out 1 in, lots of ball movement and shoot the three well.

A lot of second shots

Sideline Cancer has been in the tournament several years now, those guys know how to play well with each other at this point.

Some of the better options the KU group could get to play are over in the Big3 league, so not available for the TBT. KU guys in the Big3 league are Drew Gooden, Mario Chalmers, Brandon Rush, and Julian Wright. That's why there were some players who would've been a great fit on Self Made that weren't there.
