Preseason. Clark wasn't playing.

Aug 12, 2019 01:29 AM #5

@BShark very true but I still think Dee Ford was better. The defense was terrible last year in everything but creating turnovers. I'm worried that they will be a touch better statically wise but wont duplicate turnover numbers. Oddly enough I feel the same about KUs defense.

Aug 12, 2019 02:04 PM #6

@kjayhawks

Turnovers are difficult to duplicate year over year because they involve some degree of luck (particularly fumble recoveries). Pass gets tipped, and falls just out of reach of a defender, rather than one foot further. Ball gets fumbled and takes a funny bounce right back to the offense. Because of that, looking to have turnovers make up for an otherwise leaky defense is always risky.

If the Chiefs are statistically better (particularly on third down) they will likely be much improved even if turnover numbers dip.

Aug 12, 2019 02:36 PM #7

@justanotherfan right that's why I'm thinking they won't duplicate those numbers. But yes if they improve on 3rd it will help tremendously. I'm just waiting til we see if they can actually do it.

Aug 13, 2019 02:01 AM #8

Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu say hello! Juan Thornhill looks like he’ll be good by years end too. The D will look better when the starters actually play together. Not elite, probably not good, but better.

The defense will constantly be under pressure, since the other team will be pressured to put up points to stay in the contest. Mahomes might be a little hard on the D, but I’ll take it over not scoring while eating up the clock!

Aug 13, 2019 02:00 PM #9

@dylans

The crazy thing is, Mahomes could throw for 43 TDs, 4500 yards and just 15 interceptions and that would be about 15% worse than last year, but still one of the 25 best passing seasons in NFL history. That is absolutely mind boggling.

I also think the Chiefs run game is more effective this year. Teams will have to put more people into coverage, so the backs are going to be operating with a lot more space around the line of scrimmage. While that may lower Mahomes' overall numbers, the offense could be even harder to contain, which should make you giddy as a Chiefs fan and absolutely terrified if you root for anyone else.

If the defense is a top 20 defense, the Chiefs will be very hard to beat.

@BShark your boy Thompson is getting more reps with the first team this week. Hopefully he’ll get some decent playing time in the next game.

Ford has been out for a couple of weeks now. Having knee issues.

I think it was best to move on from a run porous DE with a bad injury history to a guy two years younger who is stronger in the run and still an elite pass rusher.

Sep 01, 2019 02:17 PM #19

I'm not sold on McCoy just yet myself. He's had some good seasons but hasn't averaged over 4 yards per carry in a couple years. Last year was a career worst for him at 3.2.

Sep 01, 2019 03:02 PM #20

@BShark It must be nice getting to watch that offense every week.

Sep 01, 2019 03:12 PM #21

@kjayhawks He'll probably have some good games, but they'll gradually fade McCoy out, and go with Thompson. Shady went from the outhouse to the penthouse, didn't he?

Sure is. Been suffering for a long time with shitty qb play until now.

Sep 01, 2019 03:23 PM #23

Thompson will be good. I do think his size will limit his touches. Similar to how Darren Sproles career was extended because he was basically only a 3rd down back his entire career.

You knew he couldn’t handle 20 touches a game. But he could handle 10 and they’d all be explosive touches.

Sep 01, 2019 03:30 PM #24

If they get Sproles impact out of a sixth round guy that would be pretty okay.

I mostly mean usage. I don’t know if he ever becomes sproles. But I do like his skill set

Sep 01, 2019 03:36 PM #26

@BShark I'm happy after decades of the chiefs trading or signing a back up/ guy that had been benched. They finally used a high draft pick for a QB. I'm not sure I could name all the guys in that category. Montana, Erbac, Bono, Gannon, Green, Cassel and Smith. "Doing the samething over and over while expecting a different result is insanity"

KC has options at running back. Each guy can do something a little different. That should limit the wear and tear on everyone, which means those guys should all be ready to go come January when this stuff matters.

No, but he just gets weirdly dumped on by KC fans, imo. Like lumping him in with Thigpen is just such an insult to the man and he isn't even able to defend himself lol.

Sep 05, 2019 02:51 AM #37

@Kcmatt7 probably because instead of starting for the Chiefs (admittedly a dumpster fire at the time) he chose to be a backup in Dallas. But I didn’t bring him up and actually wanted him back for another year in KC. It would’ve been better than what they got.

Sep 05, 2019 03:26 AM #38

@Kcmatt7 I'm pretty okay with lumping every QB between Green and Mahomes together. And obviously Mahomes is on another planet compared to Green but Green was good.

He did his job perfectly.

He played well enough that he got Romeo hired. Caused them to be so bad next year that we got Romeo fired and were able to go get Andy. (Also we landed Kelce in that 2013 draft with Fisher).

Think about that for a second @BShark...

Also Alex Smith was good here. Andy was a big reason, but Alex was good.

Rumor is an NFC and an AFC team reached out to the Jags about Ramsey. The NFC team (not sure who) offered a 1st and a 5th round pick. The AFC team (I believe to be the Chiefs Shelborn would be a terrible poker player) offered a first round pick and a player. The offers were declined and countered with two first round picks. I wonder if someone will step up and pay the price or if the Chiefs can continue to bolster their secondary? Can they make the money work with Mahomes due for a pay raise soon or would be be a rental?

Everyone knew replacing Kareem Hunt was not going to be easy. Chiefs HAD 5 RBs when the season began. A very solid run by committee was decimated (current definition).

Sep 30, 2019 01:23 AM #73

The chiefs gotta feel both lucky and good after that one. Mahomes having an off day while still completing 57% of his throws and getting 300 plus yards speaks to the type of player he is, throw in 50 yards rushing. It's hard to be too discouraged with that. I wonder if the Dome threw him off, supposedly that was the first time he had played in one. Interesting that the lions had one safety back 25 yards pretty much the whole game to
prevent getting beat deep. But I think it gave Kelce a good amount of room to work with. Hold on to the football and make a FG it's probably a 13 - 17 point win. I know it 4 weeks in but the defense still looks shaky to me and will be the down fall of this team if huge strides ain't made sooner rather than later. The other issue was how much pressure the lions created with a 3 man rush that had 5 guys blocking most the time. I realize they have some guys hurt but that shouldn't at this level repeatedly.

Sep 30, 2019 04:55 AM #74

@kjayhawks they just said it wasn't the first time he's played in a dome on the news tonight. Detroit is known for causing to's. Lucky to get the Td from their to! Mahomes had some nice runs and thank heavens Pringle held on! Looks like Hill is about ready?⚡️Love the hook n ladder from Kelce!🍻

Ugh! 🤮

Oct 07, 2019 04:01 AM #76

That game is why the chiefs can't be in the superbowl. That was pathetic on all fronts. Kelce looked a high schooler and a dozen penalties were killer.

kjayhawks said:

I've said it's going to be their Defense that kills them - -they couldn't stop a cold against a team that runs the ball. - -Lucky for them not a lot of teams that run the ball anymore that much - -we saw the result when you come up against a team that does

Oct 07, 2019 04:29 PM #78

Andy Reid also still has his issues with clock management that have not been taken care of. He mismanaged the last two minutes in Detroit last week in the first half, losing a chance to try for a TD, then mismanaged the last 3 minutes of the game last night (including that disaster of a run call on 4th and 1).

Reid is a brilliant offensive coach, but he does not handle decisions under stress well at all. We have seen this time and again, and I would not be surprised if we saw it again in January. He has helped Mahomes develop, but I question whether Mahomes can achieve his full potential with a coach like Reid.

Oct 13, 2019 05:24 PM #79

Oct 13, 2019 06:26 PM #81

Somebody better wire the Chiefs and someone tell them how to defend the run. - -Got that ass tore up last week by the run - -just ran it right at them - -and now again this week can't stop a runny nose pathetic 4-5-6 yards a carry best wake up

Oct 13, 2019 08:25 PM #82

The chiefs are wasting Mahomes' prime years with a piss poor offense line and a laughable defense. The fact that these guys are making millions and are that ungodly terrible is hard to grasp. The honey badger was a big waste of money. Dude can hit but couldn't cover a guy in a wheel chair.

Oct 13, 2019 08:28 PM #83

Also the amount of penalties reflects on the lack of coaching and accountability. The same stuff that ran Reid outta Philadelphia.

It's called being undisciplined. they need to get this stopped , I believe it's like the 3r4d time they have had at least 11 penalties .

However I was watching the Cowboys/Jets game and in the final minutes on One drive by the Cowboys - I count there was SIX straight flags on consectutive plays - - SIX - -from pass interference - -to holding - -and then players were bitching about the one where they thought there should of been one on Dallas 2 point conversion attempt that would of sent it into over time that WASN'T called -SIX straight flags - -that's not football - - that's a joke.

Oct 14, 2019 10:38 PM #86

@jayballer73 I personally think there have been far to many weak penalties this season as a whole. Then they miss obvious PIs and dont overturn them. Complete waste of time to review something that they wont change.

Oct 14, 2019 10:44 PM #87

The issue is on the offensive line are at least mostly injury related. The defense is an all around joke. Houston and Ford were better than Clark and Hitchens have been doing. Zero pass rush and no ability to cover. I still think they win the division but the Pat's, if the chiefs even make too them will spank the daylights outta them.

was listening to the local sports broadcast/show here today - -exactly what they said. - They basically right now this Chiefs team is not a very good team. - -like you said ZERO pass rush , can't stop a runny nose against the run - - secondary can't cover - -in a nutshell -- the Chiefs defense - - - SUCKS - - -like they said to - well this week anyways , these guys that are running for 100 yards plus against them - -aren't exactly household names running backs - and your going to see a steady diet now of teams running the ball at will until KC can prove they can shut it down.

The o line is not protecting PM - -precisely why he now has a bum ankle - -other teams getting pressure on him a lot more - - like you said/ this sports program said - - if NE and KC played today -- it would be ugly

Andy Reid should be fired tomorrow. His decision making the last 2 weeks have been laughable. Then tonight he decides to run a QB sneak with an already injured QB with a lead in the first half. There isnt a word harsh enough to cover just how insanely idiotic that is. This season is done for KC, Carter Stanley is better than Matt Moore. Chiefs fans better pray because Mahomes may never be the again after that injury. I've seen it too many times unfortunately.

Oct 18, 2019 02:03 AM #91

Oct 18, 2019 02:07 AM #92

We don't know 100% yet. There is a chance he could be back this season. In which case KC should trade for another QB. Newton and Mariota could be available.

Oct 18, 2019 02:10 AM #93

@BShark @Crimsonorblue22 he at the bare minimum dislocated his knee. 98% of the time you tear a ligament when you do that and sometimes you never get back your full capabilities with that knee.

@BShark ligaments are the issue IMO. I've had 2 teammates that had the same thing, one with a torn MCL and the other with a torn ACL. Google it, as I said a very very high percentage of dislocations tear something. If not Andy Reid may have saved himself being the least popular man in the midwest.

They need to get someone. I think they said Sherman is the emergency QB?

Ironic, since Mahomes was doing what they should have had fullback Sherman doing on that 4th and 1.

Oct 18, 2019 06:03 PM #115

AP source - said he escaped big time damage to knee. - -they were able to re set his patella on the field.

Said the chiefs haven't released timetable for return - - BUT source says could be 3 weeks but looking like also could be 4-6 weeks

Oct 18, 2019 06:04 PM #116

4 to 6 weeks, unbelievably lucky. I'd go with Moore til the bye week in 4 weeks.

Oct 18, 2019 06:56 PM #117

I was the QB of my undefeated intramural flag football team from 1979 - 1982. I'll give it a whirl. If the price is right !! I mean, I ain't giving these undefeated services away ya know....

Oct 18, 2019 07:43 PM #118

That's why u wait to see the results of the mri and the 2nd opinion.

Oct 18, 2019 08:42 PM #119

I've noticed how big the injury news is on a national scale. Even out here on the coast all the local TV/radio sportscasters (usually a pretty pariochial bunch) had it as one of their top stories.

Can't recall a pro athlete from Kansas City with this much national clout since George Brett.

Oct 18, 2019 08:47 PM #120

@nwhawkfan MVP and breaking all kinds of records, plus super nice guy! He does a lot of work for charities! All of his cereal sales goes to his charity.

Oct 18, 2019 08:51 PM #121

@Crimsonorblue22 Not surprised to hear that.

In fairness. lots of NFL players (and pros and other sports as well) do plenty of charity work.

Something to think about the next time we rant about "today's spoiled athletes".

Oct 18, 2019 08:54 PM #122

He's "the guy" in KC right now for sure.

As far as athlete salaries, I think they are fine. They are making even more for the owners. I always suggest to people that think they are overpaid you can always go to a TBones game for cheap or watch intramurals. Lol.

Your team probably had a better offensive line.

The hiatus for Mahomes gives our O line a chance to heal before he comes back. Moore might get beat up, so we should sign about 4 interim guys.

I already pointed out one irony of PM's injury. Here is another: How many of us going into last night's game were more afraid of Mahomes getting hurt by a dumb coach than by a series of sacks like he suffered through in last week's game?

Oct 19, 2019 03:01 AM #124

The QB sneak is about the safest play in football. Fluke injury.

I would not be surprised to see Mahomes back in time to get a few snaps for the monday night game against the chargers on Nov. 18. Then take a couple weeks off for the bye. But, seriously, the chiefs have to get at least one more QB on the roster for the next month. Sherman is the backup? Moore's entire college and pro career is based on going in to sub for injured starters when NOT INJURED HIMSELF. He's no iron man. Chiefs need another actual QB.

Moore had couple good passes yesterday, and I have nothing against the dude, but the guy does not look to be in the peak of conditioning. Is he capable of even going four quarters?

Oct 19, 2019 04:12 AM #125

@DanR good question! Kelce said that the pass he caught was the first ball he caught from him, ever! 😳

Oct 19, 2019 05:11 AM #126

I was really looking forward to a shootout with Green Bay. But I could that being a 45 to 10 game in favor of the packers now. I guess you can't fix stupid 🤷‍♂️

Oct 19, 2019 05:46 AM #127

@kjayhawks it's impossible🤦‍♂️🙅‍♂️

Oct 19, 2019 12:49 PM #128

Do you shut down Mahomes for the season knowing that this is not a SB Caliber team and go full force or in 2020 or do you bring him back ASAP with a risk on another set back?

Oct 19, 2019 01:13 PM #129

People that are mad about the QB sneak understand that his ankle had nothing to do with someone falling on his knee, right? I mean are people really mad that Andy called a QB sneak on 4th and inches? Tom Brady has run 186 QB sneaks in his career, and guess how many times he’s got hurt. Zero. Being mad about the play all is dumb. Don’t be dumb.

Pat will be back either for the Chargers game or the Raiders game after the bye. There is no reason to give up draft picks and trade for a QB. Andy will have Moore ready and they can go 2-2 in the next 4 games, and still win the division.

Oct 19, 2019 01:15 PM #130

@AsadZ why is this not a championship caliber team? You realize they have 5 starters out not counting Pat that they are going to get back.

Oct 19, 2019 02:34 PM #131

@AsadZ WAIT - 6 weeks ago EVERYBODY has the Chiefs going to the Superbowl and now we're completely inept?

As soon as we get a couple of running backs, a QB, an offensive line, another wide receiver or two, and a defense - WE'RE RIGHT BACK IN IT!

Oct 20, 2019 12:47 AM #132

@nuleafjhawk I agree, him taking 5 weeks maybe good in the long run. His top 2 WRs have played just over a game together, the offensive line has had 2 guys out and the defense has had both linebackers and lineman out. Wait til after the bye and see if this team can get healthy, then you can make judgement. I think a 9-7 record wins the west this year and with only one game in the division in the next 4 as long as they dont go 0-4 with out him they could still be 3rd or 4th seed in the AFC. The Patriots schedule is so weak, I dont see them not being the number 1 seed.

Oct 20, 2019 12:08 PM #133

Do we believe that even after getting healthy this team can beat Patriots on the road when playing in January.

Oct 20, 2019 12:27 PM #134

@AsadZ I don’t see why not. Let’s wait and see how the Patriots look when they play a some games against teams with a pulse. They have played one decent team in Buffalo and won 16-10. They appear to have a great D but their offense isn’t anything special this year.

They play Cleveland, @ Balt, @ Philly, Dallas, @ Houston, and KC coming up in the heart of their schedule. They run the table there or go 5-1 then maybe I’ll change my tune.

Oct 20, 2019 03:48 PM #135

was listening this morning and the reporters are talking like it could be even sooner then three weeks for Holmes return - -going to take it week by week -- probably the only game for sure Patrick missing is the Green Bay game - - after that -- all bets are off.

The way they are talking Holmes wants to come back NOW - - feels good but that's not happening - but again could be before three weeks. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@Crimsonorblue22 By a lot. I'm sure the NFL will issue an apology....as if it matters...

Nov 10, 2019 11:11 PM #154

He was offsides by a damn yard, asinine play calling again by Reid. Mahomes is the next Aaron Rodgers, great player zero defense.

Nov 10, 2019 11:56 PM #155

I would just like to know how many people with more than one brain cell:

1) facing a team needing a touchdown to win

2) which team has 25 seconds left, zero timeouts, and needs a touchdown to win

3) which team has a behemoth running back who has battered through your defense like a Sherman tank and will obviously go to him

4) since the team has a 2nd down and only 1/2 yard to score,

would play a linebacker 5 yards deep in the end zone while leaving a single defensive lineman facing 2 offensive lineman over a 12 foot wide section to the left of the center?

Nov 11, 2019 12:29 AM #156

Oops, mixed up my plays with so many disgusting ones to choose from. I was referring to the score by Henry with about 6.5 mins left and Titans needing 2 scores to win.

True story: I explained to my wife in the 3rd quarter why the punter gets the snap on a FG. Some bullshit about how they are sure-handed and ready to take quick action like a pooch kich if the snap is bad...

Nov 11, 2019 12:58 AM #157

@mayjay he sure isn't a qb.

Nov 11, 2019 02:58 AM #158

@Crimsonorblue22 I blame Reid for everything on that series. 3rd and 2 trying to run the clock in field goal range, need a field goal to ice it. You don't freaking pass! You run it, then kick. Or, if you want to run the clock, you run it on 4th down, too. Even the Chiefs should be able to get 2 yards in 2 plays. BUT YOU DON'T FREAKING PASS AND GO BACKWARDS 17 YARDS IN THOSE 2 PLAYS!

Okay, rant over. I am now okay because I know not to expect anything from a team that has such dumb coaching.

Nov 11, 2019 02:03 PM #159

While we're ranting, can we PLEASE get back our old Defensive Coordinator? Or any other human being that shows up and asks for the job?

Nov 11, 2019 02:32 PM #160

CBS switched most of the country to "a more competitive game" (Broncos-Chargers) a while ago., so no more video out here.

Fortunately I've still got the Mitch Holthus audio on the Chiefs Radio Network. Loved his call on the blocked PAT!

Dec 02, 2019 12:30 AM #169

Great game by the chiefs defensively, amazing what you can do when healthy. 6 INTs in 2 weeks is what this team needs. I’m not sure how sold on them I am going forward but hey a positive step is good to see after the last few seasons. I’m sure the nasty wind that’s blowing my Christmas decorations effected Mahomes but he just hasn’t looked better than average since the first raider game to me. That has to change in the postseason for them to go anywhere.

Dec 02, 2019 12:41 AM #170

Nice to basically wrap up the division.

Dec 02, 2019 12:41 AM #171

Dec 04, 2019 01:12 AM #174

Ron Rivera DC next year?!?!!!!

Dec 04, 2019 02:38 PM #175

@AsadZ

I think their pass defense is improving. IMO, the rush defense is pathetic. Allowing Oakland 5 yards per carry - that isn't going to get them very far into the post season.

If the Oakland offensive "gurus" had a collective brain in their heads, they would have taped Carr's right arm to his side and only allowed him to hand off the ball.

Dec 08, 2019 10:47 PM #176

Chiefs not to shabby! Didn’t start great, but Kelce is having a day!🏈😎

Dec 09, 2019 12:55 AM #182

I don't feel good about this win though.

Dec 09, 2019 12:55 AM #183

Speaking of close calls, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rams beat the Seahawks tonight. Seattle has been winning all their close ones so far this season, and they're due for an off day. Hope I'm wrong...especially considering the Niners win today.

Dec 09, 2019 12:57 AM #184

@BShark You have to have blinders on my man. Zebras literally took 2 touchdowns away from the Pats tonight. There were several missed calls on the Chiefs as well, like the no-call on the PI at the end.

Dec 09, 2019 12:58 AM #185

@KirkIsMyHinrich That was great coverage at the end.

Dec 09, 2019 12:59 AM #186

@BShark Haha okay.

Dec 09, 2019 02:19 AM #187

@KirkIsMyHinrich you’re higher than a kite if you think that last play for the pats was a PI. If that was a PI they missed about 25 more on each team. The only real call the chiefs got was the outta bounds at the 3. Mahomes got late hit atleast twice with no flag.

Dec 09, 2019 02:25 AM #188

!66FB9D27-2845-463A-AD08-95248EC3C071.jpeg ↗

How I feel about it, they literally wrote a new rule to cover a blown call for the Patriots once upon a time then add in phantom blows to the head from a year ago. If they lose 10 games because of bad officiating, then they can complain.

Dec 09, 2019 02:41 AM #189

@KirkIsMyHinrich that was perfect timing on the ball. Patriots didn't even complain.

Dec 09, 2019 02:53 AM #190

Refs were absolutely terrible. I particularly like how Patriots fans are claiming they were robbed of two touchdowns on the same possession though.

Dec 09, 2019 03:06 AM #191

@DanR and to clarify... if they would've scored on the the Kelse fumble, NE wouldn't have even had the opportunity for the botched call on the Harry's should-have-been touchdown. If the refs hadn't been watching the cheerleaders on Harry's touchdown, no one would be complaining about the whistle on Kelse's fumble.

only get one TD per possession. I know. Refs suck.

And if the refs had called a personal foul on NE when Mahomes got slammed into the coolers on the sideline, none of the other two scenarios would have probably happened either.

The end.

Dec 09, 2019 03:09 AM #192

Bottom line is that ref crew should not work again. It could have gotten REALLY ugly at several points in the game. Good coaches on both sides.

Dec 09, 2019 03:33 AM #193

@DanR 100% agree, that crew was terrible but they definitely missed calls that aided the Patriots as well as the Chiefs.

Nothing worse than KSU/Bronco combo fans. Okay maybe Missouri/Raider fans but I'm thinking there aren't many of those lol.

Dec 09, 2019 04:09 AM #197

I cheer for the chiefs but I don’t get crazy like I do over the Jayhawks.

Dec 09, 2019 04:44 AM #198

@Crimsonorblue22 I wasn't talking about the last play when Brady threw to Edelman. I agree that was a clean play.

Dec 09, 2019 04:46 AM #199

@BShark A Broncos fan that doesn't like the Chiefs or the Patriots. I saw some pretty bad calls against New England though, including an obvious touchdown that didn't count.

Dec 09, 2019 04:50 AM #200

When people commenting on social media are saying the Patriots got screwed, they got screwed.

Dec 09, 2019 04:50 AM #201

@KirkIsMyHinrich what no call on the pi at the end then?

Dec 09, 2019 04:51 AM #202

@Crimsonorblue22 The deep ball Brady threw to I forget which receiver, not Edelman. It would have given them a first close to the endzone.

Dec 09, 2019 04:52 AM #203

@KirkIsMyHinrich those are patriot fans! Best of the best!🤡

Dec 09, 2019 04:54 AM #204

@Crimsonorblue22 They aren't though. I'm talking about people who aren't fans of the Patriots or Chiefs.

Dec 09, 2019 04:54 AM #205

@KirkIsMyHinrich they called pi on almost every pass play🤣 I was po’d on mahomes getting thrown around, and that late hit out of bounds!

Dec 09, 2019 04:56 AM #206

@KirkIsMyHinrich I thought everybody hated patriots and Duke

Dec 09, 2019 04:57 AM #207

The play I'm talking about is at 10:52 of this video. The TD that should have counted is at 8:45.

Dec 09, 2019 04:58 AM #208

@Crimsonorblue22 They do. That's why it's bad if people are complaining that New England got the short end of the stick with officiating.

Dec 09, 2019 05:05 AM #209

And here's a link ↗ to people complaining about the officiating.

Dec 09, 2019 05:11 AM #210

?s=21

Dec 09, 2019 05:12 AM #211

I agree they would.

Dec 09, 2019 05:49 AM #212

@Crimsonorblue22 they would’ve called several roughing the passers tonight if the roles were reversed. The Patriots can bitch about it when it’s costs them playoff games, they have been the beneficiary of dozens of flat out wrong and questionable calls for the past decade plus.

Dec 09, 2019 02:01 PM #213

I thought roughing could have been called on both teams. The refs did miss a couple of calls (the TD out at the 3, and spotting the Ware rush to the 49 at the 50 among them), but it was a great game. The push of Mahomes near the heater almost duplicated a call last week that everyone thought was unnecessary roughness, but it was explained last week that if the defender got his hands on the runner in-bounds, the play is legal. Romo was saying that it was illegal because Pat was going out of bounds and had no other possible trajectory, but acc to the explanation last week that isn't the rule. It looked to me as if the defender started the push in bounds. But they needed to show a sideline view and oddly didn't.

Dec 09, 2019 02:12 PM #214

Attention Patriots fans:

1) The sky IS falling.

2) The Empire is crumbling.

Dec 09, 2019 02:24 PM #215

Lol. The patriots are beatable when they can only score on trick plays and turnovers. That offense sucks right now. 2-12 on third down. Chiefs miscues kept them in the game.

Dec 09, 2019 04:19 PM #216

Top four AFC teams record against each other:

Baltimore 2-1

Texans 2-1

Chiefs 2-1

Patriots 0-3

Dec 09, 2019 04:20 PM #217

I still wouldn’t pick against Brady in the playoffs though. (Unless he’s playing the Chiefs, but that’s homerism)

Dec 09, 2019 09:29 PM #218

@dylans Up until about 5:30 - 6:00 last night, I would have agreed with you. But, for the first time in his career, I felt like he was starting to show his age. He was looking slower, frustrated and tired (of getting knocked on his butt).

Regardless, it was a good day to be a Chiefs fan.

Dec 09, 2019 09:45 PM #219

@nuleafjhawk I’d agree 100% but feel like he’s being undermined by Belichick in some weird end of career power struggle. Brady has no receivers - Gronk retired, they cut Gordon and headcase Brown and the pats haven’t signed or drafted a decent receiver in awhile either. I think most QBs would struggle there this season.

Dec 15, 2019 05:56 PM #220

I'm iced in, doesn't take much, kind of a chicken! Ready for some chiefs🏉

Dec 15, 2019 07:27 PM #221

Dec 23, 2019 04:11 AM #244

Ugg at least @KUSTEVE is having a good day somewhere.

Jan 12, 2020 08:39 PM #248

My god it like yesterday all over again but with football. One team has silly mistakes and wasn’t ready to play.

Jan 12, 2020 08:41 PM #249

Plenty of time, if anyone can catch a simple pass

Jan 12, 2020 08:42 PM #250

Pass to doubled Hill--Pat's revenge?

Jan 12, 2020 08:43 PM #251

That honestly looked like a hit on a defenseless receiver to me. Some of the weak ones I’ve seen this year, that was way worse.

Jan 12, 2020 08:44 PM #252

Anyone notice the chiefs Booing repeatedly after the drops lol 🤷🏻‍♂️ What do I know.

Jan 12, 2020 08:45 PM #253

@kjayhawks historically a clean hit, but I agree by this year’s standards should have drawn a flag

Jan 12, 2020 08:47 PM #254

@DanR yep

Jan 12, 2020 08:47 PM #255

Maybe switching end zones will help

Jan 12, 2020 08:48 PM #256

I usually just sign up for cbs online for the ncaa tournament. This year I get to pay (Antenna doesn’t pick up cbs) for the privilege of watching all my favorite teams seasons end on it!

Jan 12, 2020 08:54 PM #257

So anyone put money on San Fran winning it all, early this year?

Jan 12, 2020 08:54 PM #258

If they can hold them to 3 here and wake up. If they can go into the half down 24-14, they have a shot.

Jan 12, 2020 08:56 PM #259

I’d kick it, big momentum play if you don’t get it.

Jan 12, 2020 08:57 PM #260

Chiefs and Jayhawks in the same weekend. Sweet.

Jan 12, 2020 08:59 PM #261

I’d be pissed if I was in Arrowhead!

Jan 12, 2020 09:02 PM #262

Chief fans are diehard fans, they don't give up!

Jan 12, 2020 09:05 PM #263

@Crimsonorblue22 yeah. I'm at the give up stage. Even after the score. Sorry.

Jan 12, 2020 09:09 PM #264

@nuleafjhawk I really don't care.

Jan 12, 2020 09:09 PM #265

Jan 12, 2020 09:10 PM #266

Jan 12, 2020 09:21 PM #272

@DanR chieffffs!

Titans are playing well. I didn’t want them in this game, but the Texans are proving to be pretty salty too!

Jan 12, 2020 09:26 PM #275

Jan 12, 2020 11:05 PM #305

@jayballer73 I remember him killing us and he was their back up. I kept thinking jeez he could start for us! He definitely left an impression. Love him, everything about him! He's so positive!

Jan 12, 2020 11:18 PM #307

@jayballer73 Tennessee will try to control the clock and not let the chiefs offense touch it. That was problem when the lost there, Mahomes lit it up but didn’t get many tries.

Well now watch my Packers see if they can win. Gonna be tough , doesn't really matter cause I think San Francisco is representing the NFC for sure

Jan 12, 2020 11:35 PM #314

Tough for any road team to win at Lambeau. Seattle with a puncher's chance though...only one road loss this season.

kjayhawks said:

that wasn't really even questionable. - - When he tackled Graham Graham came done but his knee was not on the ground - -not even close - -what it was Graham was on top of the tackler , you don't count him being down with that, when any part of his body hit the ground - it was his helmet and that was over the 1st down line.

Green bay was the ones that came up with the Big stop - - Seattle still had their chances and Rogers nailed them with perfect passes on the last possession.

Even the announcers were saying Seattle can't get the stop on 3rd down. - -Not gonna matter anyways , as much as I love Green Bay - San Francisco is gonna win the Championship - they just that much better this year. Unless Green Bay has some change of play calling - SF just dominated the hell out of GB when we played in the regular season. - -Still been a pretty good year , when Rogers hasn't been that great

Jan 13, 2020 05:17 AM #320

@jayballer73 Seahawks definitely still had their chances. I’d take the packers over the niners. They have the more experienced QB

49er's plain and simple are just the better team this year. - - Aaron has not really played well all year. - - Is it the new Coach/scheme , some think so.

I've been a Green Bay fan from way back when with Starr Brockington and such Nitzske - -the ICE Bowl can still remember watching that game .

We got some really good edge rushers - -the /Smiths but they done whipped our ass earlier 37-8. Aaron barely reach 100 yds passing.

49ers play calling scheme is for sure a weakness of the GB defense, ut we have had a really good year all things considered 14-3. Never say never I guess , that's why they play the game but wit it being in San Fran I am just not feeling it right now. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

The defense did a great job of slowing down Derrick Henry. He gained 69 yds on 19 carries. That's likely one of his lowest totals of the season. Go Chiefs. I was watching in 1971. Hopefully, a win this time.

My dad and I watched SB I and IV together (I was 10 and 13 on those), but the only game I remember really well was the infamous Christmas Day game a couple years later when Stenerud broke my Dad's heart. The Chiefs were no good for the rest of the 70's and he passed away in 1978.

I started crying today! I was watching all those fans going nuts, thinking, "That's my city! This one's for Dad."

Jan 20, 2020 12:52 AM #361

Looks like chiefs and 49ers.

Jan 20, 2020 12:59 AM #362

Pretty cool the offensive coordinator, maybe ast. is a gal and🥁from Hesston Kansas. San Fran.'s I should add.

Jan 21, 2020 01:22 PM #375

@Crimsonorblue22 lol at first I was thinking of the Chief’s Eric Bieniemy. Definitely not an Erica! 😂

Jan 21, 2020 10:16 PM #376

Insane that Bieniemy isn't going to get a HC job. Great for the Chiefs though.

Jan 31, 2020 09:54 PM #377

Almost time. Well everyone or just about anyways knows that I'm a life long Green Bay fan , I have no qualms about that either BUT I do also like KC. I'll root for them anytime other then or if they play Green Bay , and watch them anytime I can.

I think KC could be the next Generation of the New England Patriots , for sure. They are really young and MERCY the group these guys got - -just explosive, Hated Patrick in College - - love him now.

I mean KC as a offensive group , if your trying to scheme for them what the hell you going to do ? - -Who you going to double and try and take out of the equation ? Kesle ? - -Go head - then what you going to about Hill ? - - Double him ? - -Go ahead - then you got Watkins ? - - no , OK then what about Hardman ? no - -Then what about Robinson ? No - - what you going to do with Williams you trying to take these guys out? - -Then you got Pat himself he WILL run - - - that's scary , you take all these others away - it's Ok Patrick will take off on you

There is really a couple of things that even concern me just a little about this Super Bowl. That is I mean I feel good BUT I just sure hope that there aren't to many KC fans that think this games is wrapped up for KC. -I love our chances BUT

I'm concerned a little bit about San Francisco's run game. - -I know , but I don't want to hear well we shut down , dam can't think of the RB for the Ravens - can't think of his name right now - -I hate that when that happens lol - - don't talk to me about that - - - WHOLE different ball game, that's great - BUT just like San Fran trying to take KC offense out of the equation - - worried , ya you might stop ONE of these running backs BUT, they come at you with a three headed monster. You defensive scheme might work on one - -but not sure they going to eliminate all 3 backs shutting them down.

Then I worry some about San Fran's Defensive line, these guys are so quick. - - Bosa is a beast - they get a lot of pressure with NO blitz better hope to GOD the line can hold up.

It is been brought up and I agree off our local sports talk though. - - look at it this way. On the average a team will get 10 possessions per game right at that. If KC scores on even 50% - 5 times , that's 35 points , San Fran going to have to Score more then 35, and the Style of game they play - - I /we don't think they will do that. - Your going to have to out score KC - -I LIKE KC'S CHAMCES - - -GO CHIEFS - -LET'S DO THIS BABY

Jan 31, 2020 10:09 PM #378

Derrick Henry is the running back for the TITANS that the chiefs held to 69 yards after he'd had two 180+ yard games earlier in the playoffs. I think that's who you were talking about, @jayballer73

There we go. A stop.

Feb 25, 2020 07:03 PM #384

Really?!? 🤞 not a sign and trade?!?

Chiefs GM Brett Veach also said signing DT Chris Jones was a priority. "Sometimes these things take some time to work through. The franchise tag is something that we have the ability to use. We'd certainly like to see if we can work something out with him. The tandem is Chris Jones and Frank Clark is something any team would want and we're going to work hard to get that done.''

Feb 26, 2020 03:22 AM #385

@dylans I really hope they are able to keep both players, it will be interesting to see if they wait til after the season starts to offer Mahomes a contract. I’m hoping he wants to continue winning and doesn’t sign a max deal. He seems smart enough to do so. LeBron and Brady had big endorsements that helped. Mahomes already has State Farm, Adidas, Hunts, Amazon and Head & Shoulders. I think they need to bulk up the offensive line first and foremost, then secondary and get some linebackers. Would be tough to do all but if they resign most of the current guys and do 2 of 3. They have a good shot at a repeat baring injuries.
