Doke and Garrett

I am surprised this hasn't been brought up here yet, but both have been in walking boots and it is obvious that neither of them is playing at 100%. What are the odds that they play like their old selves come the tournament? And if they can't, are our chances at a title dead?

We should rest both until the tournament and just accept any losses that may come. Bill won't do this though.

The goal will be to win conference tonight. If that happens, then the options open up for resting players.

@BShark I agree, yes I like winning the conference but a national title is much better.

It would be sweet if we could have our cake and eat it too. Win out and get that number 1 overall seed to pick your locations and rest Dok and Garrett enough to get them healthy, but not so much as to get rusty. I don’t think I’m asking for much. 😂

Marcus won't be healthy regardless of whether he plays over the next 2 weeks. His injury takes months to heal correctly.

@FarmerJayhawk I think this is the biggest thing is fans fail to really think about when we (including myself here) suggest resting players. We just don’t know enough about the injuries generally to know if it would actually help or not.

I was surprised when Doke reentered the game on Saturday but after talking to some athletic trainers and folks with more knowledge than me they almost all said with a rolled ankle it’s usually better to keep moving rather than rest and let it swell right away.

Self said in post game that both Marcus and Doke said they felt good before and after the game. He said if they had a set back he would definitely consider resting them going forward but doesn’t seem like they are in too bad of shape.
