That had been done like I said.
Will be nice to play 5 on 4 vs them and just not worry about a guy on offense. :)

Apparently Bryce is announcing tomorrow, not tonight.

@BShark This transfer still chaps my ass (even if he wasn't playing well as a frosh)
Yeah, Bill was giving him more minutes than his level of play even deserved tbh.
Bryce announcing tonight, should be Okie State. You know he's gonna light us up at least once...
July 7th is the big date.
@Kcmatt7 said in 2021 Transfer Talk/List:
@BShark This is the ideal, ideal scenario. With maybe something like if Ochai leaves they nab another top tier Wing transfer.
But I do like how the roster sets up with a one-year starter in Remy so that way our young guys see they will be able to get PT in a year. Bill HAS to keep this team together going into 2023. They can be special.
Agree, I love the long term look of the Pettiford Cuffe back court.
Yeah Remy is MUCH better than Wheeler is the main thing.
Staff has also contacted Brandon Mahan, but I don't think he is much of a PG.
@bennie Well KJ, Cuffe and Curry are basically locks to not play much imo. I think after that it's fairly up in the air when we are talking about the difference between guys 8-10. If Bill adds Remy Martin he is a lock to start. Allegedly he is hoping to move Braun to a bench role while still playing big minutes. Adding a high level PG would make that possible if Och were back. Something like R. Martin, Yesufu, Ochai, Jalen, Dave. You would have Braun and Harris as really nice bench pieces then you see how the back-up post situation shakes out and what Pettiford can give you.
Part of why I like Remy a lot is he is a 1 year rental so it also gives Pettiford a clear chance to grab the reins his SOPH year.
I believe they want to sneak in Zach if they can, you don't want a guy like that being a transfer risk. Some mix of him and C. Martin as the back-up posts I think.
Wheeler to UK is done, just not announced yet.
Reason to believe Remy Martin is the new top target.
@FarmerJayhawk I am confident Bill will add a guard. Whether that guard is impactful or not who knows.
Wheeler to Kentucky Martin to KU who says no?
:face_with_tears_of_joy:
Calipari might save us from Wheeler. :folded_hands:
@Kcmatt7 wouldn't even blame you. Throw the kitchen sink at Martin.
Remy Martin is in the portal. HOT DAMN.

How many schollies will we currently have to fill in 2022? What are the chances we don't use 2021 schollies to keep them available for 2022 kids we are trying to lock up? Livingston, Smith Jr?
At a minimum we will have to replace Dave and Jalen. Of course there will be more attrition than that as well.
I would pay close attention to
Would not fully rule out Joe Dooley just yet.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE.

I would really like to see us go after Brandon Mahan from UCF. Just entered the portal and was a very efficient scorer last year.
Looks like a solid option for a bigger guard.
A couple guys KU is still on in that vein are Bryce Hamilton of UNLV (both sides interested if he doesn't have a great pro option) and Pelle Larsson. Utah is trying to re-recruit Larsson (new coach) and it is believed that KU and Arizona are the main two potential transfer destinations.

Committed to Arizona today
Makes sense to me, they had 5 spots available and their coach has all those international ties.

The transfer from wake would be an ideal backup to Dave.
Not sure how serious things are there. KU would need another spot and it would have to be from a post player leaving. I think Bill is just covering his bases in case something changes with Jalen.
Good to see Self wasting time on recruits he won't land.
@BeddieKU23 said in 2021 Recruiting:
Doesn't even look like he's getting to pick his own school
Yeah the mom is in charge and milking everyone.

Efton Reid and his momma got themselves a nice bag from Jeff Capel today. Drama city recruitment
Is this official now? Because retractions were issued and this whole thing is batshit crazy. No wonder we dipped out.
@BeddieKU23 Last good HS class was 18. 21 has promise at least... Hopefully a continued uptick.
I don't think the construction is terrible but one more wing instead of a short guy could be nice. If you end up with Harris, Wheeler and Yesufu in the rotation, that's tiiiiiny.
@BeddieKU23 said in Sahvir Wheeler:
I get the need for another guard. Heck we need two if Ochai doesn't return. I don't think I've ever been this dumbfounded though in regards to roster moves
Going from all wings to all short guards was an interesting decision. Though if Ochai goes I would expect his replacement to be taller. That leaves basically having 2 wing types on the roster, if you count Jalen as a post player (I do).
Btw Kentucky already has TyTy's NLI and all the various paperwork in hand. In case anyone was wondering just how done that one is.
@BeddieKU23 said in 2022 Recruiting Thread:
Having been through Pulman before, nobody goes there for free
Was believe that KU and UCLA were the two players here, some rumblings about this yesterday and boom it is done.
ABSOLUTE STUNNER HOLY SHIT
In reading the recent weekly VIP news dump thread from Chasen (great content, the man is a machine) it does sound like Wheeler is potentially a lot more interested in KU than vice versa. I just fear it's who we end up with because they know they are out on TyTy, and Hickman will end up at Gonzaga.
@Kcmatt7 Yeah Bill won't do that and we know it. Cuffe needs a lot of time in the oven, I feel like if Bryce doesn't transfer they don't ask him to reclass. This is basically the opposite situation of Frank and Graham, one year early instead of a year late. Makes a big difference but especially on a kid like this who needs to develop. Hoping he is all-in on the program and redshirts.
Like @BeddieKU23 I am hoping Bobby gets some run. Does seem like they are hoping he can contribute this season. That's why taking Wheeler would be so baffling to me, I'm not sure he would even end up playing and would probably make the team worse.
@Kcmatt7 said in Sahvir Wheeler:
@BeddieKU23 I'm officially on your side of panic mode.
Nothing like starting 2 guys under 6' and then bringing one off the bench. Pairs well with our D2 6'7 power forward and JUCO 6'7 Center.
Just masterful roster construction going on here. Definitely got longer and more athletic this offseason.
Yeah I'm really not even sure the starting line-up changes outside of Marcus. The whole 3 wing (Braun, Och*, Wilson) thing will get beat like a drum against teams with good guards so I am hoping we do actually go with 2 guards a wing, Jalen, Dave.
*up in the air still
@Kcmatt7 Idk but idiots like Goodman are up in arms for some reason.
Causing quite the ruckus. Weird.
https://barttorvik.com/playerstat.php?year=2021&p=Sahvir%20Wheeler&t=Georgia ↗
The advanced stats are really alarming, I really don't even see how he would end up playing.
...
....
Believe is is 5'10'' now but still tiny.
I would assume that both sides think he would have a shot to play if he comes here. Played huge minutes so far, for admittedly not great Georgia teams.
Things are heating up. Panic or celebrate accordingly.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in 2021 Recruiting:
Why would we take wheeler just to fill a spot?
Why did Bill take Jossell, Anrio Adams, Merv Lyndsay, Royce Woolridge, Jack Whitman, Evan Maxwell etc
That's a wrap folks.
STRONG LIST
Yeah it was basically his FR year, as mentioned he hit a bit of a wall and had also been scouted. I think he's really good though, one of the few higher rated players on the roster and that's not everything but does shot talent is there.
Hit a bit of a wall, got COVID. Trust me when I say playing basketball seems near impossible with COVID.
He's a hard worker, have confidence he will be one of our best players and improve.
@bennie I have no idea what Bill is selling him on. It would be a full ass roster, and you do have to think some guys would end up not being thrilled with their role.
There will be a spot to fill, and Self will fill it. Wheeler seems most likely right now @Marco
Starting line-up would likely be Harris, Braun, Ochai, Jalen, Dave to start the season. Believe me though when I say I would prefer Braun in a bench role.
@FarmerJayhawk All indications are this is correct. Homesick while in Utah does not bode well for him leaving the state of Washington.
@Woodrow Got just flat out beat for Xavier Pinson and obviously they waited around on TyTy to end up just not getting him.
If it is Wheeler...he looks like Charlie Moore to me...
Final 247 rankings are out
Zach 44 Comp 66 247 down a fair bit in 247 ranking
KJ 67 Comp 78 247 up 8 spots
Bobby 91 comp 87 247 basically unchanged, did get a better grade though
Cuffe 103 comp 101 247 basically unchanged
