He's a JUDGE. He had time to PREPARE. Instead he put on his clown shoes and danced for Trump. Embarrassing tbh. He got pushed through as expected and the SC is the worst it has ever been. So yay! GOP party!*
*And yes, Dems helped.

The Lawson bros definitely have that Morrii synergy thing going on. Any line-up with them as the two post players is a hell of a "small" line-up w/ a lot of length and rebounding.
Oh, well I never listen to hawk talk so I don't hear that aspect of Hanni.
Don't disagree about him being a nice guy and definitely into his job (again with the nicknames, maybe too much so, idk).

I like hanni. I've talked to him a few times. Is it his voice? He really does his homework, and he's super friendly and loves his job.
OTOH "Pooka Bazooka" and all his other nicknames are Dave Armstrong level awful*. His trademark phrases seem really forced too. Not a fan of "Rock Chalk it up". Jmo.
*Anyone else remember Armstrong trying to get "the sheriff" to stick to Cole? Yikes.
@DanR Seems like a big issue for a radio guy. :joy:

I miss Max. I always muted the tv and listened to Max when he was calling the games.
This was very doable with Bob too. Bob was awesome. Hanni...um....I'll just not say anything.
"[Boot Camp was] definitely probably the hardest thing I've gone through," McCormack said at a media session before Late Night. "It's also been a great bonding experience for the team, just like pushing each other on, making sure we get through everything together. And not just surviving, but to get something out of it."
For McCormack, what he got out of Bill Self's Boot Camp was going from likely being in the best shape of his life to being in even better shape.
"The best shape of my life? I would say so," McCormack said. "I think it's really pushed me conditioning-wise. It's just helped me drop water weight as well. It's definitely put me in a great position, physically."
And that's a good sign for the Jayhawks considering the four-star big man and McDonald's All-American wasn't necessarily expected to start, but he was expected to hold down a significant role in what should be a stacked KU frontcourt.
In the early summer, KU assistant Norm Roberts spoke to Phog.net about all the KU bigs and offered some glowing praise of the freshman.
"I think heβs got a lot of probably Darnell Jackson in him, the way Darnell played here," said Roberts, who also noted McCormack has a "blue-collar, Charles Oakley" physical presence. "Kind of an enforcer, rebounder, tough, can run the floor, [a] finisher around the basket and has a decent 15-foot shot as well.β
Funny enough, McCormack was actually a little more humble on his own skills when asked by the media to break down his game.
"I would say I'm just kind of like a brute force," McCormack said. "I'm a hard-worker, I go after every rebound, every loose ball, I run the floor, I bring whatever I can to help the team to have an impact on the game."
Really, that's the type of mentality that could earn him minutes on the current team.
A hallmark of Self's bigger teams have been big men who scrap for rebounds and loose balls. Jamari Traylor, a Self-favorite, was an example of a player who wasn't the most skilled or dominant, but earned his way into minutes as a high-motor, spark-plug type of presence
When the Jayhawks were recruiting McCormack, there was somewhat of a similar message, according to the big man.
"Just playing the important role of being a hard worker," McCormack said of what Self told him to expect of his role. "Being a big man, definitely helping out β as you know, like last year, they were just kind of short-handed on bigs. So coming in, playing an important role, giving Doke and the other bigs a breather is going to be an important role for me and having a big impact on the game."
So even before he left Oak Hill and headed for Lawrence, McCormack had a good idea of what to expect.
He had already transformed his body once and he was playing at a high level. Yet even he noted he wasn't quite ready to jump into competition from Day 1.
"To an extent it does [prepare you]; it definitely helps playing with other talented athletes, but still, the college game is completely different from high school," McCormack said of his time at Oak Hill. "I don't think there's really any way to just jump right in and be ready for it."
@BeddieKU23 My mute button is ready! Even if it's only symbolic, since I'll be watching on a computer and just turning the volume down.
Lol, Vitale.
Yeah, this exploded on twitter.

I can almost guarantee you will see them play together against Zones and probably both WVU games. But I wouldn't expect to see it every game.
Interesting topic.
I'm not saying to sit Dotson against Baylor but his shot does need to improve. I think the go to line-up for zone busting would be...
Moore
Grimes
Vick
KJ
Dedric

I agree about Nnaji soon being a Jayhawk, and JRE, as well. Hopefully Stanley or Chandler will sign early, too. A class that features McBride, Braun, Nnaji, JRE, and either Stanley or Chandler I'll take in a heartbeat ..... If Hurt waits too long we may have to draw our attentions elsewhere. What I like about the above group - I don't think that any of them are necessarily OADs.
I would say other than Stanley, the rest are almost guaranteed to not be OAD.
@KUSTEVE I still think Charlie is going to give Bill palpitations and he will revert to old habits.
KirkIsMyHinrich said:
I believe Dotson should and will start. Team ceiling is higher with Dotson than with Moore. Need to go through the growing pains as early as possible. Waiting to start Dotson could be the difference between a sweet sixteen and a final four.
YES.
Hopefully Bill has learned. :fingers_crossed:
@KirkIsMyHinrich Bigger as well which is a plus. But yeah, probably won't matter. :(

There is plenty of depth and talent on the roster to absorb Silvio's absence. I think some of you guys are way to high on a super raw 6'7 C. But that's just how I view Silvio. To me, he is just Jamari Traylor 2.0.
Strong disagree. In brief glimpses admittedly Silvio flashed much better than Jamari ever did.

Totally forgot Zeke was back this past weekend for his OV. Anyone hear anything on how it went?
He is pretty quiet. Articles will come out within a few days I'm sure.
KU is very well positioned here though for sure.
KUSTEVE said:
Lightfoot has certainly earned court time as well.
Has he, though?
If Mitch is playing more than 8 minutes a game, something went really wrong IMO. And that's with Silvio at 0 minutes. If Silvio is good to go, Mitch shouldn't play imo.

@BeddieKU23 Silvio is a very nice backup post player. McCormack is a step down, but a nice backup post player. Mitch is a different type of player and a step down from Silvio, but also a serviceable backup big. It should work out, the team is well constructed.
Silvio gives the team a dimension no other team outside of Kentucky has, which is a starter level talent as a rotation piece.
When we talk about step down from one player to the next, the gap between Silvio to Mitch/Dave is significant. At least in my opinion its bigger then what some may think. We'll see how it shakes out.
It wouldn't be a KU season without fans worrying about which post player won't be available to play
It's a huge drop from Silvio. Like you said, he is a starter level player. Dave and Prison Mitch are nice, quality back-ups at this time. I feel Dave can develop into a starter, but obviously not this season. So yeah, good depth and much better than recent years. It just wouldn't be INSANE like it would be with Silvio.
If Silvio can play, KU and UK both have about 7-8 legit high quality starter type players.
Can't really switch to Nike if the deal isn't as good. Both are dirty and nothing will really change. We just need to get this sham case over with.

Arguments could have been made for starting Silvio ahead of Doke.

If Silvio is found ineligible how can KU keep supporting Adidas? Two players they allegedly paid are now caught up in this scandal.
The problem with ditching Adidas is the entire field is dirty. Nobody is clean. None of this dirty laundry will actually get fixed. SO does KU just go to the next dirty company and hope it doesn't get caught in the cross hairs again? Or stick with the company having its dirty laundry aired out
Gotta see how this all shakes out. As things currently stand, I'd just stick with Adidas.
FF is never a lock unless you are 2012 UK or similar. It's very rare.

We have any guys for next week?
Body bag szn. :(
@KUSTEVE Imagine being so wrong about the starting PG.
@jayballer73 Exhibition game is then. Doesn't count though of course. Open with Michigan State Nov 6th. You best believe I am watching every second of the exhibition games though. :D
Ramsey looks tired LOL
Well, yeah, obviously. Staff went in another direction.
Markese Jacobs to Depaul.
I've been beating this drum. He's an all around special player. Haven't had a forward as good as him in a hot minute. He is Simien/Marcus good.
Signs of improvement are there with this team, I'm convinced now.
lol

And I disagree about Hurt being a no-brainer one and done
He has made it very clear that it is his intention. So, it's certainly his plan. However if he needed or wanted to stay a second year, he has a better parental/financial situation than Cliff, Selby, BMac* etc...
*Not throwing any shade at Ben with this, he was absolutely right to go. He HAD to go pro and start getting paid for his family.
@Marco Correct. He has done some visits recently and is going to UK's midnight madness which will probably be an OV. I saw it mentioned a lot that he wasn't even taking recruiting all that seriously until very recently. The belief is he will visit KU for a game in which case he wouldn't be signing early. I hope your predictions are right though. :D
Hurt is most assuredly OAD. JRE and Nnaji should definitely be multi-year guys though. If Hurt signs early I don't think it will be to KU, since he hasn't even taken an OV to Lawrence yet.

Are any of the remaining games winnable for KU? Iowa State is winning today, as is K-State. TCU?
Iowa State is a good football team, 1-3 but with a really tough schedule.
That was a lengthy victory lap hoss.
Lol at Texas
@Kcmatt7 I bet he plays 20-25 mpg this year. It's just the offense is going to run through Dedric for sure and we don't know too much else yet. I'm intrigued to see how it all shakes out. I think Grimes can be very good but will he and what about his three ball...
@Woodrow Saint Johns, UConn and Syracuse are all players in his recruitment on the last update but maybe info is hard to come by. Apparently Achiuwa was at Memphis's late night thing so maybe they are making a push.
Edit: With UNC missing wing targets maybe they get in there too. That's just pure conjecture on my part, but UNC will want to add a wing this class to replace Little. He's a hell of a player so I would expect a battle regardless of who gets involved.
Kcmatt7 said:
@Woodrow Just looking at his 247 page, it appears that Achuiwa hasn't had any activity since June with any programs. Of course something could have slipped through the cracks, but they're usually pretty good about keeping it updated.
He hasn't even set up any OVs. Looks like a spring decision.
The belief right now seems to be that KJ will stay and be one of the focal points next year.
@Kcmatt7 Don't think KU is a real option there. KU is in deep with Stanley, Hurt, JRE, Nnaji and Chandler. There probably won't be enough open scholarships to take them all, not that Self would necessarily pull it off anyway.
I'd tag Achiuwa like Hurt and Chandler, guys that can play 3-4 easily and could do spot duty at the 5 but wouldn't at KU considering the roster.
I like Hurt's game but I don't think he is so must get that you don't take all of JRE, Chandler and Nnaji if they want to commit.
Kcmatt7 said:
@Woodrow so to answer your question, nothing new really. It seems like Bill is playing the Bird in the Hand game here in the fall. If we miss though, I'd say Bill puts on full court pressure for his services.
I would be on Self adding two forwards in the early signing period. I don't think Self would want to oversign by more than 2 in the early period. After that, things will get really interesting.

Susan Collins decrying dark money while confirming Kavanaugh. Ohhhhhh the irony.
Charles Grassley is a mysogynistic piece of shit.
So look, I'm in favor of them moving on to the next candidate when that person will be just as much of a Republican attack dog. This isn't about politics for me, it's about the fact that he is a pathological liar.
