I said it was imminent for Newman to break out.
So, we now have seen His Imminence, Malik Newman.
I think Self made it a point of emphasis. At least Newman was able to do it.

You can see the signs with this ISU team. They are gonna be pretty good the next two years after taking their lumps this season.

For Graham being so off tonight it's kind of surprising that KU is at least ahead.
I mean it's probably because ISU sucks.
HOLY SHIT MALIK NEWMAN
Rebounds killing us late
Newman stuffed...
Good lord Graham....
NEWMAN FLOOR BURNS
For Graham being so off tonight it's kind of surprising that KU is at least ahead.
Svi lost on D sigh
Newman the brick layer 3-9
this game is stupid
23 3pa in one half okay
Newman lays up another brick which leads to a transition and one.
Zero shots for Udoka.
I hope ISU leads at half.
lol so much sucking
Svi went hard for that rebound I like it.
First lead for ISU coming right up
We suuuuuuuuuuuuck
Lol Cunliffe
Lol Garrett. No more heat checks please.
@Jayballer54 still don't see how we could lose to ISU?
Recipe for losing to a crap ISU team...
6-16 from three lol
Still very unclear
Matt Scott.
Looks like it will be soon with Silvio. They were waiting on some documents from the Angola National team which were just recently acquired/delivered.

@BShark WSU is good and deep, but their conference sucks!
Agree.
My point was just that it's easier to go hard when you play a bunch of guys. Whereas Devonte barely even gets a breather.

So far... we are using the two missing post players as a crutch... and we have made our team identity as "the Jayhawks missing two crucial bigs."
The first thing we need to do is STOP using this situation as a crutch. It's just an excuse to let our guards off the hook for not guarding.
For those fans that think we will suddenly become the best team in America because we have post depth.... you are in for a HUGE letdown!
I know, I know... if we had more depth... blah blah blah.
I know our fans largely hate WSU, for several reasons. I try to catch their games when possible because I love basketball. And I love their hustle. They don't have McD's AAs. They don't need them. Their defense is starting to turn it up and they look like a pack of hyenas ripping apart a large animal in the Serengeti.
To get a proper perspective.... take a watch or your smartphone and TIME the gap of time between when Shocker players skid on the floor, diving for a ball. Then do it for Kansas. Let me know what you find. I already know the answer. Maybe our guys just don't want to risk getting hurt because it might kill their NBA hopes.... I don't know. Or maybe they just have an elitist attitude. One thing I know for sure.... if we play at this intensity level in Morgantown, they will beat us by 30 or so. And this year, WVU won't let down in AFH.
Unless we have some guys step up, just go ahead and count both games with WVU as losses.
BTW: I hope we don't have either of these two new bigs in the games against WVU. We will need at least 4 guards in that game all the time!
For reference, Wichita State plays TEN yes ten players at least 14 minutes a game. Even Shamet their best player plays under 30. Wichita State is deep, and has been deep ever since Marsha got there. It's what allows them to go hard defensively every single possession.
KU doesn't even have 10 eligible players. It matters.

@BShark Still making predictions? You've been right 3 times this year, and wrong 12 times. I've been right 12 times this year, and wrong 3 times this year. See the trend? We'll win both games this week.
Except I didn't think KU would lose to any of the donks they played, or Washington for that matter.
Yeah. They have a lot of players on their roster that weren't what they were hoping four. Solomon Young is okay (still not what I would want out of a starter) but Brase, Beverly, Long and Talley have all been disappointing based on what they were hoping for.
I think Weiler-Babb and Lard are their best players. Jackson and Wigginton at this point are fairly inefficient chuckers. I like Wigginton's potential though.
Can't see it at all? ISU has lost two overtime games so it's not like they have been getting blown out. It will be a tight game.
Players to worry about: Jackson, Wigginton, Weiler-Babb (their typical 6'5'' guard/forward that goes off against us) and Lard who will present a big problem for Doke on both ends.

I expect a 2-0 week. One of the games Newman finally gets some mojo back, canning a 3 ball early.
Newman going off would be huge. I don't see it.
One thing we know is Larry Bird Jr (who did turn out to be better than Bragg) will go off on us. He always does. I think the kid doesn't take enough shots normally, but he is never afraid to let it fly against us for whatever reason. Stokes being out is big though, they basically don't have a PG now and he was one of their only reliable 3 point shooters.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah I googled he is out indefinitely with a foot injury.
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh seriously? He was their best guard. That's a shame.
KSU is very tough this year. Mostly the same players as last year, but a year better. Had to travel last year to beat them. I think this team will be fortunate to go 1-1 this week. I think 0-2 is more likely.
Neither Vick or Cunliffe is injured.

@DCHawker High character - 4 year - guys. Screw the one and dones, not a single one of them has helped us in ANY way.
Last year's team without Josh is very unappealing.
Don't forget he is coming early. If he came next year as expected, likely not a peep. We knew when Diallo and Preston signed that there would likely be issues. And the rumours around Cliff were pretty brutal.
I wouldn't lump De Sousa with the other three.
edit: Oh hey, @mayjay beat me to it. :grinning:

We all knew this would happen. I'm not surprised at all. Sorry organization and I'm sure they have some lame azz excuse. I'm telling you, they are freaking out over the now 15 game suspension. They DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. They have to do something. I posted it's like a home inspection. They can't let this go as "time served." They are the freakin NCAA damn it. They have to find something and show their azz.
Oh and Silvio is going to be just like Enes Kanter. The only difference is, Silvio will be totally free of any professional influence. Both of these players should be pretty much REVIEW AND RULE. It's easy to do, but either they are so stupid the have no idea what they're doing, OR they are unnecessarily influencing this situation. They are only punishing the players. This is the NCAA's main role. They screw who they want, how they want, and when they want...They have it hard for KU too. BASTARDS
This is just not true.

That's true but if ISU is going to get Kansas it will be in Ames this season.
They drilled us last year in Allen soooooo
Perry became a great cerebral defender his senior season. He knew the opposing coaches and sets so well he would get to a spot before the offensive player. It was really disruptive and wasn't something that showed up in the box score.

Damn - three losses for the cyclones means they will completely turn their season around if they play huge and beat us - crap
And thanks for the pics - my eldest daughter attends ISU - pretty campus, and great engineering school
She is a KU fan though
KU is their superbowl always and forever.
Perry is much more skilled than Mitch. Not really a dig at Mitch as Perry was a very skilled player in general.
