I don't even dare bother with football recruiting. Most of the time those players won't even see the field for 1-2 years.

I feel like we are waiting for a crappy internet link only to listen to a coach talk about his JV team for 45 minutes when its supposed to be a commitment announcement (its totally happened recently) @BShark @Jayballer54 I know you guys now this one!
That was truly awful. Perhaps the worst commit announcement I've watched and most are pretty bad.
In before no update.
Well the staff did recruit PGs, they just didn't land any.

And every school in North Carolina. He wanted to stay in state and his last remaining good options were BC and Ben Howland. Yeah
I think KU definitely could have got him had the staff pushed for it, based on what I've read. Not really interested in a PF in a wing's body though. I think he is probably ranked too high at 64.

I wasn't sure where to put this but so many midseason transfers now. More than I can remember. Blake Harris has left Missouri for NC State.
I was going to get around to posting that. Still think he would have been nice to have backing up Devonte this season. However having Dotson and Grimes next season more then makes up for it
Harris, unlike Moore would potentially impact recruiting. And really I don't think our guards are an issue at all, though Newman has been mostly disappointing relative to what was expected, fair or not.

@BeddieKU23 Yeah he can definitely shoot it. I'd love to see him end up at KU.
I wonder if that was always part of the equation with Jairus. If it was, then it really makes sense why he ended up at BC.
Looks like that (brother) became more of a thing late in the game. Hamilton really didn't progress last summer in AAU and a lot of bigger schools backed off. Good spot for him IMO.
Yeah even Maryland backed off, enough said.

I just couldn't imagine being a coach in today's game. Not a lot of loyalty, from any party. And too many opportunities for players that they really do have the upper-hand.
Yeah. Even Self got into a tough spot with recruiting misses and players not working out.
With the way we have loaded up there could be a transfer after next season but I hope not.

@BShark Nebraska is losing a sophomore big man.
Glad we don't have to be in the market this year.

Some of my clients were literally barely competent to breathe. Back then 60 to 70 % of enlistees tested in the lowest acceptable quartile on entrance IQs (something like 75 to 85).
This was during war time then? Because that's rough.
I wasn't sure where to put this but so many midseason transfers now. More than I can remember. Blake Harris has left Missouri for NC State.
A gummy bear. :grinning:
I shouldn't do this to myself but I do expect Silvio to be able to play against KSU.

Pretty good guess.

I have noticed that some of the ranking services tend to be way behind and don't upgrade often enough to reflect current play so ranking could be way different the next update.
Yeah I don't think 247 has done a real major update in awhile. Rivals within the last month did major 2018 and 2019 revisions.
BeddieKU23 said:
Not surprised he's ahead of the younger Lawson. Must be having a big season
Has Chandler not been having a great season? I haven't been paying too much attention.
Sam Williamson up to #87 on 247 composite. Still super low on 247 at #170. Someone from Rivals is high on him as he is #48 in their new rankings. He is definitely working his way up to be a player KU would be very happy to have.
Rivals actually has him ahead of Chandler Lawson and Malik Hall whoa.
I think there is more in play than just the car honestly.

@Ralster Meanwhile, Bob Sutton is still the D coordinator. That would be a nice change if it were to happen.
He really needs to go imo.
West is incredibly average. I wouldn't even be opposed to a mid to late draft pick replacing him.
It's not an attack on the team it's posting facts. Fact is KU hasn't been good defensively for awhile now which hurts your chances to win a title. I am hopeful that next year will be a return to stalwart defense but it will definitely take time due to so many new players.
This KU team definitely can't look past anyone even a banged up KSU.
More NBA talent than Self will have had in some time.
Adding Romeo would make this class pretty unreal.
Barry Brown is NBA jam on fiiiiire lately.
Tamba and DJ are pretty easy cuts imo. Unless DJ wants to take a hefty pay cut. He is an all-time Chief but he has clearly lost a step or two. I'd move on from Alex as well but I'm not sure if that will happen.
I would think they could get something for Alex as he would be an upgrade for many teams in this league.
I don't have a huge issue with any of your suggestions though I would probably keep Schwartz. If they could get a 2nd round pick for Fisher I would do that in a second.
This team drafting well might be a reach.
All of a sudden we are missing Brady Morningstar. Now that was a dude that could feed the post.
Doke's rebounding is definitely not great, I can agree with that.
This team can defend when they aren't tired!
Great point from Jesse Newell here...
"Itβs easiest to spot when breaking KUβs defense down into splits.
βͺ Texas: 1.00 points per possession first half vs. KU, 1.33 PPP second half
βͺ Texas Tech 1.19 PPP first half, 1.20 PPP second half
βͺ TCU 0.92 PPP first half, 1.39 PPP second half
βͺ Iowa State 0.97 PPP first half, 1.05 PPP second half"
freebilly #freesilvio
It's not just getting in position for Doke. There were plenty of possessions where he never touched the ball at all. Even if he isn't wide open for a dunk because of great position it's not a terrible idea to get the ball to him to see if the defense will collapse.

You can see the signs with this ISU team. They are gonna be pretty good the next two years after taking their lumps this season.
Wigginton is a stud that I never understood why KU wasn't pushing for. I guess some kids just go where they feel most comfortable. He did however have a slew of turnovers that cost them dearly late. He'll be one of the best players in the league next season. I don't see him at ISU all 4.
Other priorities that obviously didn't pan out for KU but have also shown to be ELITE OAD college players. KU never even really sniffed around. ISU, ASU and Oregon were the main players iirc.
They stole another great one with Talen Horton-Tucker who is up to #31 on the recent rivals update. They have a sneaky good class to add to their current core with a couple very solid sit out transfers as well. A year of improvement from Lard, Young, Wigginton and Weiler Babb. Add Shayok, Jacobson and THT and that is a pretty formidable 7. I think Conditt is more of a long term prospect (but a good/solid one). They just have to hope for improvement out of someone on the roster like Lewis or Talley or that Griffin or Haliburton are more college ready than expected to get them to a really nice 8 player rotation next year.
I really like their entire class long term provided they develop. Haliburton is a 6'5'' PG and Griffin just gets buckets. Both better than their ranking IMO.
The weave gives me tremors.

@JayHawkFanToo Baby steps. I'll continue to take "more" efficient as we move forward.
@BShark What was Petro's take?
And by the way, sorry, I'm hearing that the decision on our benched duo is coming now any minute.
That he is simply an okay player which is fine. Where he got fiery was talking about people buying the back-up qb thing previously expecting him to lead the team in scoring because of practice. Don't overreact to one game and how a big issue so far is that he doesn't seem to understand how Self wants him to play. Says it isn't the worst thing in the world if Newman ends up with a 10 year Euro career. It doesn't mean he sucks because he isn't as great as people (recruiting analysts, KU fans) expected him to be. Says he won't repeat this performance but don't hate him when he doesn't duplicate it. KU still has a lot of work to do etc...
Prayers up.
Garrett.
Then guys redshirting on the bench like KJ and Dedric...
Soren Petro with a great rant about Newman right now.

My point exactly - - FIVE FRICKEN shots for the game. - -FIVE - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Not nearly enough :/

Svi left his man several times, self in his face
He was super bad defensively.
Yeah it would be a lot easier if he just named them but then he'd be closer to Bruce Weber which...ewww...
I don't think it would be Doke as he barely got to touch the ball but your guess is as good as mine.
mayjay said:
@BShark Who did he mean?
We can only guess. Judging by the minutes maybe Cunliffe was one of them. He was barely in there.
Self also added we need all 8 players to be locked in. Was kinda odd.
That bonus is no longer in his contract.
If we can have Malik and Graham "on" while also not mostly ignoring Doke this team could get a fair bit better.
Self just called out a couple players without naming them in the post game. Mentioned about 6 of the 8 players were playing good team ball tonight...
Fools gold comment in the post game. Heh.
That late block was pretty unreal.

Nice win over a scrappy Clone team. The Clones offensive style sets up isolations all over the court, which is a great strategy to use against a team like ours with a short bench ...chase, chase, chase the whole game. Great to see Newman back amongst the living, and Legerald's sterling play in the last few minutes sealed the deal. I'm sure the team is gassed...we live to fight another day. 3-1 in conference now. RCJHGKU.
Great strategy to use against a team with a Svi. LOL
