Howling
Yeah the rumour is that he decided to transfer after Hurley unloaded on the team after the Purdue game. I think he is definitely worth a shot if the visit goes well. If there are bad signs on the visit then I bet Self moves on.
I mentioned it elsewhere as well but Cunliffe, Newman and Preston is a lot of mercurial talent to have on one roster. If anyone can make it work, it's Bill though.
This comment on that article intrigued me:
"Onto Cunliffe. I will tell you EXACTLY who he reminds me of from his Soph year through his Senioe year in HS. A 2" shorter Micah Downs! He also has the same issues that Micah had when he was 18/19 and parents influence. Micah went to Kansas expecting to be the star and it didn’t work out. Best move of his life was to get under Coach Few’s handling. Turned his LIFE around. As for Cunliffe, off to Arizona State with the same dreams as Micah had. Wrong Coach in Hurley (style). He just got his ego bruised.
I’ll tell you this, I watched them both for 3 years in HS and they are mirror images of each other: talent, BBIQ, athleticism, shooting style and range. Great hops too! Also transfered around in State alot (both). Only difference is height and parents! I would give this young man a chance if "I" had the room but like Peter pointed out, I don’t see it now either. Oh well. Thanks Peter for the info, especially the charts. Mike"
ASU posters claim he is a head case. Sounds like there is some truth to it. Might be one of those cases where he was never going to succeed on his first college stop. Regardless of if he ends up at KU or not I hope the kid turns it around, he is quite talented.
Reading this post makes me think of Carty, which makes me sad. He was the perfect Self junkyard post. He still has time to change his mind at least.
Right. It hurts, but at best he was going to play 15 minutes a night. I don't know what some people are thinking but apparently we went from "legit NC contender" to "will struggle to compete" and I just don't get that line of thinking.
Some quality cancel the season meltdowns about this on other KU forums.
Definitely. Bill pretty much said it's completely up in the air with Svi in the article in the OP.
Yeah it can be tough to get program players when you are recruiting at a high level but aren't Duke (gets to basically pick who they want) or UK (only recently slowed down by the Duke train).
With the caveat that Young is still on the board (and Duval technically is) KU could strike out on PGs in this class (I do count Newman in this class but not a true PG and Garrett is a wing/combo, very good playmaker but will likely play the three) so we could be in a spot where we need a grad transfer, but a regular transfer wouldn't hurt either, to have waiting and developing for 2018.
This is why I love players like Russ Rob, Releford, Tyshawn, Reed, Morningstar, Mitch and Landen. Never gonna wow, but do the dirty work that needs to be done. Of course Russ and Rele came in as 5 stars so their situation was a bit different, but still.
I'm pretty happy with Doke if that was an either/or. Of course, the injury was unfortunate.
Best to not post about politics iyam, never ends well because everyone is set in their opinions.
Oh and welcome back.
I would be shocked if Robinson-Earl ended up elsewhere. Hurt's recruitment will be a battle but KU sits well. As bad as the 18 class looks right now for early KU leans, the 19 class is the opposite.
Robinson-Earl is the best player to come through the kc metro since...honestly I don't even know.

I see all of it is beyond paywall. That's okay though. Duke fans should have known that if he did this again there would be so much more attention brought to it. The media is doing nothing wrong here, they are right for the most part here. Even Duke Alums are sick of the negative attention Allen is bringing to the team.
Yeah it's a mixed bag. A few staunch defenders, but most wanted a suspension. Haven't been over there post suspension yet.
I think Bill could turn him into a decent player. That said I'm moreso interested in players that won't mess with the 2019 class. Hurt and Robinson-Earl are huge studs that need to end up in crimson and blue.

Tried reading some of their board but couldn't get past the whining fans that are saying ESPN drove his suspension. sad sad fan base
ESPIN GRAYSON NARRATIVE. Their entire board is tilted right now, bad time. Slater has lots of good info though.
Coming from 247 Duke insiders about a week ago. Don't remember if the post was behind the paywall or not (probably was).
I still don't understand why Bolden went to Duke.
Reading that it's a very strong possibility that Jeter transfers after this year.
Apparently Bolden is pouting and Tatum is a me first one on one baller. Duke running into the dreaded "too much depth" scenario.
So I said there were no positives here, I thought of some parts of the situation that are at least not terrible... The team has plenty of time to adapt to no Doke at this point in the year and quite frankly, our upcoming schedule is pretty tame until we head into Ames.
Originally from Topeka, went down to Wichita to play at Sunrise. The reason for suspension was undisclosed, but I would think Bill could get that info if he were looking to take the kid.
Beddie and Too are harsher than I, I was gonna say until they played against a tough team, lol.
He will not last in the NBA if he keeps tripping players there
Duke boards are popping right now. Reactions go all the way from "the Elon player was trying to break his elbow" to "kick Grayson off the team like Sulaimon".
I'm not sure what to make of Allen at this point. He clearly has issues. Not used to dealing with failure.
Trouble in paradise...
“Everybody, they’re not bought in. ... They’re not all the way consumed in winning. Everybody’s not consumed in just being one." - Kennard.
Even most of the Duke fans on their 247 board are fed up at this point, saying he needs a suspension.
Ba gawd King, that's Mitch Lightfoot's music!!!
It means much more Bragg and Lucas and probably almost exclusively playing 4 out 1 in. I don't even think against Baylor or Kentucky at this point we can afford to play two post players at a time. Not when the back-ups are Mitch and Coleby, that would not end well. With playing 4 and 1 that will help mask it to an extent and thankfully we have a transcendent player in Josh this year that is perfect for a college do-it-all 4.
Basically, it makes the team less versatile to play big when the situation would call for it.
It's certainly good that Lucas seems to be rounding into form. No more injuries please.
Lightfoot is a PF/C in a wing's body, God bless him. He and Coleby will be pressed into service though, that's for sure.
There is no bright side to this, unfortunately.
The frosh big curse continues.
Even less depth in the post. 9 scholarship players. Ouch.
Honestly I wouldn't have mentioned it if it was from UK people. It was from the main Duke 247 guy who knows a lot about recruiting in general.
Dang. On one hand, he isn't playing huge minutes but on the other the team is thin in the post as is and this slows his development.
I read that scholarships could be an issue for Gonzaga.
Not sure. I feel it has to bode well that KU is getting a visit so soon.
I hope we get him. Three years removed from HS Cunliffe is better than any wing KU can realistically get in the 2018 class as a Frosh.
If the staff misses on Young then Marcus Keene could be an option if he decides to grad transfer. Currently averaging 30 ppg for CMU. 5'9'' 160 though.
Walker is a five star talent, but also multi-year player. Not completely different from Selden honestly.
Sam Cunliffe visiting Jan 2nd. He recently escaped the ASU dumpster fire.

Jmo, but I feel that KU cooled way off when Self felt Bragg would be changing his plans and coming back. No fact to this, just the vibe I get.

@jayballer54 the big thing that happened was Billy committed.
The next guy to look at in this class is MJ Walker, while waiting for Young and Duvall to decide.
Eric Bossi
Kansas assistant Norm Roberts watching MJ Walker for second day in a row. Jayhawks have turned up interest level in 5-star SG.

Also Preston committing definitely could be a factor.
KU really wants Walker. I think we should all get acquainted with his game. :relaxed:
As of now, most likely signings are Grimes, Dotson and Oturu imo but things change. Chris Smith will play his way into or out of being a legit KU target this year.
KU seemed to cool way off on Kezo Brown.
Norm was watching Walker again today. Things are heating up.
Richard Sherman often gets away with DPI. Do see it a fair bit in the NFL in general.
Preview
Without getting too detailed (unless you want to) what was he going off about this summer?
Yeah we will see how much it matters.
I actually just posted a link about Walker in the next year thread. If Svi leaves I could easily see him coming here.
Duke fans would have you believe they don't get all the calls. Ha.
