@BeddieKU23

Yeah, I do not understand what drives people to say such things about kids. Even worse is on twitter tweeting at the kid. Our fanbase does it too, unfortunately. I use twitter but I would never tweet at a recruit.

Seems like Hami is headed to UK and if that happens it becomes a lot less likely that Trae goes there. That would give them a PG, a CG and a SG. 3 for 2 spots already and that is if Briscoe leaves.

Fwiw Matt Scott thinks we get a visit from Trae.

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 07:56 PM

@BeddieKU23

Sneed and Brown are definitely players. Brown was more ditr like Foster but when you looked at his film from HS the thought was there is no way there are 250+ better players in this class. Sneed was legit top 150 with offers from Cincy, Creighton, Illinois etc...

Agree about the 6 player thing. It's Brown, Stokes, Wade, Sneed, DJ, Iwundu. After that...yikes and it will hurt them against good teams.

Trae • Dec 08, 2016 07:48 PM

@BeddieKU23

Yeah typical toxic fanbase. I don't know if UK has any decent boards.

They seem to think we negative recruited UK to Oubre who...grew up liking KU. Makes sense. They also thought they were getting Wiggs so that was tough for them as well.

There is just too much stupid in that thread to even properly address but the best part of me is that they seem to think KU is a magical death vortex for guard failure. Because Selden stayed three years and wasn't lotto. Because projections can never be wrong.

@JayHawkFanToo

Well there is the problem, Fran Fraschilla.

Trae • Dec 08, 2016 07:29 PM

UK fans in spin mode currently.

@Crimsonorblue22

Not enough shots with Foster there.

he was supposed to have range.

I remembered reading when he committed that he is an undersized center and that shooting was an issue. But great effort kid etc...

Creighton doesn't play a lot of defense.

TCU vs SMU • Dec 08, 2016 07:22 PM

I'll take our coaches over TCU's last staff, plus not much talent around him. I feel he'd be an okay cog for KU.

TCU vs SMU • Dec 08, 2016 07:17 PM

I wouldn't mind Shep on the roster right now. That's with the caveat that everything else remained equal.

Question/ comment • Dec 08, 2016 07:05 PM

Picked a random crootin thread for this.

Matt Scott posted a little VIP snippet today. Not much there, KU is in good shape with 18/19 kids we thought we were in good shape with (Dotson, Grimes, Leech, Harvey, Hurt, Robinson Earl) etc... Also briefly mentioned guys that KU has offered but probably aren't KU kids. So a pretty comprehensive 18/19 list... So the key may be who WASN'T on the list, Bol Bol.

Reality starting to set • Dec 08, 2016 07:01 PM

Doke had and still has a lot to work on. The staff was likely more concerned about getting him to try and grasp the plays and such moreso than his FT form. That said it should be worked on as well. Hopefully we see lots of improvement in general with Doke throughout and season and then next year with a full off-season to work.

@BeddieKU23

Mitch to me seems like a PF/C in a wing body. Love his effort but I don't see starter. Depends on recruiting.

@JayHawkFanToo

Part of his PT is necessity but I feel like if Bragg and Lucas were playing up to snuff then we would be seeing more 3 out 2 in and Doke would still be getting PT. It's hard to keep a 7 foot beast off the court.

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 06:58 PM

Gregggggg is a good coach, albeit a dick. I struggle to grant that to Bruce when his teams lose some of the close games in the fashion that they do.

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 06:55 PM

Ah I see.

I didn't mind KSU when Martin was there, Those KSU teams had an identity. They were tough and were gonna rebound. Bruce is just really unlikeable to me. Same problem with GREGGGGGG at WSU.

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 06:32 PM

@JayHawkFanToo

Are you also a KSU fan? Asking because of your name. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Reality starting to set • Dec 08, 2016 06:31 PM

@BeddieKU23

Seems like Mitch is pretty jazzed to be at KU. I feel Wade had this issue last year for KSU at times. Sometimes you can have too much adrenaline.

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 06:27 PM

@JayHawkFanToo

No one smart thought SLU was a test for KSU (they are kenpom #287) and MD is a one man team that also barely beat Okie Lite and is in the same range as UGA and Stanford. Not convinced of KSU at all. I think best case they are a fringe tournament team, not soundly in. Let's see how they do in Allen. Imo TTU, TCU and KSU are all fairly comparable.

Been awhile since we had a good ole fashioned whoopin of these guys.

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 05:08 PM

@BeddieKU23

I think it's a byproduct of the good coaching in this league. Self, Kruger and tHuggy in particular all have a pretty good baseline even just rolling 5 ham sandwiches out there. And Drew is actually working his way up the list but I feel he also has a ceiling (and that it is EE and not winning the conference).

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 05:01 PM

@BeddieKU23

Yeah it's tricky when teams hide behind a complete garbage schedule. Kenpom and such can give a good feel, but it's still impossible to truly know.

Texas finishing last would be amazing considering their talent. A good PG or lack thereof changes everything though.

Big-12 Contenders/Pretenders • Dec 08, 2016 01:14 PM

Good stuff.

With ISU I will believe their defense is good when the numbers bear it out for an entire season.

Edit: Oh and we can't forget that the front court is a massive advantage for KSU. Disregard the fact that Wade has similar numbers to Bragg against complete pastry competition.

Royals • Dec 07, 2016 11:12 PM

@Kcmatt7

Agree with your theology. You want to be the Patriots, not the team that holds onto aging stars that can't get it done anymore.

@BeddieKU23

Yep. Up 2 with the ball and 1:30 left. Far from automatic but it comes down to coaching (and shot making) in critical situations like that.

I can't believe KSU fans are falling for Bruce's charade this year but they are, and they think they will beat us is Lawrence. Mason is only slightly better than Stokes, Graham vs Brown is even and Iwundu will match Jackson. These are some things I read. Can't make this stuff up unfortunately.

@globaljaybird

Oh for sure. I think CF also made a poor choice with WSU. GREGGGGG is also a hard nosed coach like Self.

I wish Ballock nothing but the best at Creighton. He loved KU, but he is a wing and also wants to play and could see how KU really has it rolling there. It might have not been until his JR year that he really saw the floor for KU, and that isn't what he wanted and why it can be so difficult to find program players because they will have options to play more at a lower level. I believe Teahan had some scholarship offers but chose to walk-on at KU instead, that's pretty special but not for everyone of course.

@globaljaybird

Fantastic. A shame Conner didn't have the same attitude.

Thoughts on todays game • Dec 07, 2016 03:35 AM

19-12-5 for Josh tonight in 28 minutes. That's on 8-12 from the field. Only attempted one three (which missed).

@Crimsonorblue22 said:

Was just thinking what young thought if he was watching this game.

That he will get a lot of three point buckets and fit in well with this offense. I hope anyway.

If you have a twitter account, vote for Uplift for Markese

@Crimsonorblue22

The ball was pinging tonight for sure until the last 6 minutes or so.

@kjayhawks said:

@BShark I understand your side but you can always pull the red shirt if needed. It is what it is at this point. Keeping work Mitch you'll get there.

He should definitely be serviceable in time. May never start, but then again look at Lucas so you never know. 4-5 year program/glue guys that have smarts and a bit of game to go with it are critical to program success in my book. Releford, Perry (admittedly had a lot of talent), Brady, Reed, RussRob. Gimme these players every day of the week. :older_man: :tshirt:

@globaljaybird said:

@Crimsonorblue22 No doubt & agree @BShark not near enough manpower with Coleby still on the mend & LL not up to snuff. Some guys never fully recover from an ACL. BB players who do not get a donor or one that is smaller, sometimes the re-stretch will not allow the range of motion the game requires. And sometimes its damn tough to find a 6'10" cadaver. Sorter legs is not as tough a repair for the med personnel. & also rehab is more successful.

Yep. Sometimes just takes 2 years to fully recover as well. Though if Bragg is back to go with Preston and Doke Coleby is going to have a tough time finding minutes next year as well.

@KUSTEVE

Testify brother Steve.

@kjayhawks

Foul trouble and potential injury situation. It's tough with only 10 scholarship players that can play.

@kjayhawks

Not enough bodies. Next year I could easily see it happening but depends on the situation. Certainly if Bragg is back AND KU has Wooten to add to the class.

@Crimsonorblue22

Assuming it makes it to youtube I will post up the link here.

Next up: Nubbs. In the same kind of Kenpom range as UGA and Stanford.

@globaljaybird

You think there is a chance either of his brothers end up at KU as well?

@brooksmd said:

I really expected Self to be more liberal with PT by the 5 minute mark. Kind of rubbed it in leaving starters in so long.

He knows how bad our deep bench is.

@Crimsonorblue22

His old man game is on point.

Coleby can't elevate.

SVI DUNK

@Crimsonorblue22

And dragging his foot the whole time. Seems like he will check in though. Maybe this was just about getting Mitch minutes.
