@Lulufulu Name never changed.

Non-KU Games Nov 11 • Nov 12, 2016 02:28 AM

@Lulufulu This K-State team is really bad. I mean, we knew that right? But Western Illinois is a team you have to handle if you are a P5 team.

I like Udoka, but UK has a lot of skill inside to go with their girth. They will be tough for anyone inside I think.

Ouch. Wagner 67 UConn 58.

Non-KU Games Nov 11 • Nov 12, 2016 02:04 AM

Lauri is quite good, shame he wasn't interested in KU.

Non-KU Games Nov 11 • Nov 12, 2016 02:00 AM

It would now take a miracle for UConn to win.

Non-KU Games Nov 11 • Nov 12, 2016 01:30 AM

B12 looks like ass so far.

Non-KU Games Nov 11 • Nov 12, 2016 01:17 AM

Early early early but Texas down to INCARNATE WORD and ISU is up by 1 at the first media timeout over Savannah State. Still looks like typical ISU, uninterested in playing D.

Non-KU Games Nov 11 • Nov 12, 2016 01:15 AM

Duke handling Marist of course.

Zona looks good even with limited bullets in the chamber. Simmons looks reaaaal good, maybe KU should have got more involved there.

Ohhhhh Turgy, Maryland strug-a-ling with American.

Just curious what happened? • Nov 12, 2016 01:10 AM

Jerry Meyer cb picked Duval to Kansas. Also in general rumours swirling that now that KU missed on Sexton they will pursue Duval with more vigor. Buckle up fellas.

Also I believe it was mentioned before but Tilmon isn't signing with Illinois. KU could definitely get back in there.

KU wins. Too much depth, experience, and talent.

This is my thinking as well. Lots of fouls.

A little off topic, but I'm watching Nova right now playing Lafayette. I know they are not playing a good opponent, but Nova looks like the same team that got hot in the tourney last year. Their defense is really good. IMO, they should be the front runner for making the final weekend, not Duke.

Meh. Need to see them play a real team or two first. Lack of a post presence will hurt them.

ESPN, Talking Heads • Nov 12, 2016 01:02 AM

It's like they haven't seen what happens when KU goes to Morgantown and Stillwater.

Crazy talk about Tech. ISU, UT and WVU are all better for sure.

Oh and yeah, Kentucky can't shoot threes. Being confirmed tonight. They are a LOAD inside though. Yikes.

@BShark your probably right, going to be very interesting I think on how we contain Bryant. - -One thing is at least we do have fouls to give at the 5 - - Lucas, Udoka, Dwight, maybe even Mitch huh? - - Another player they talk a lot about on the Indiana board is their guy I think is called OB something like that, surpose to be pretty good, talking about him matching up on Josh. - -Can't wait to get this baby rolling been too long. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

OG Anunoby. Kid is a beast. Crean does it again with a big time ditr.

IU game predictions • Nov 11, 2016 04:56 PM

I'm thinking a 5-8 point win for KU in a foul fest.

MSU will beat Zona I think. If Zona had their full compliment of players they would have rolled. Lauri might be able to save them though, kid is a stud.

I'd bet next year, but if KU opens 2-0 it's probably happening.

Marcus Garrett Signed • Nov 10, 2016 11:49 PM

@KUSTEVE said:

@BeddieKU23 Marcus has some physical advantages over Devonte. That doesn't mean he's a better player by any means, but Devonte's flat best he's got is located down in his heart- he wills himself to be amazing in the biggest games. Garrett's HUGE advantage is he is a physical mismatch - a freak of nature with a crossover dribble. My theory about KU freshmen guards are they evolve much faster than our bigs, partly because their bodies don't have to change in order to be effective on the court. I think Garrett starts from day 1. I think he will be a prolific point guard- one to remember, for sure.

He won't start if: Graham stays or KU gets Young/Duval. That said I don't think any of those are likely and Garrett will likely end up starting.

@HawkChamp said:

@KUSTEVE add him to Vick, Malik and Dok and that is a very solid lineup

Yep. Very good core.

Sexton to Alabama...not much of a surprise...

Yep. Unfortunate but no suspense at least.

Let's hope Quade Green goes to Kentucky.

Just curious what happened? • Nov 10, 2016 11:28 PM

I was just mentioning it because early on I believe KU popped up as preliminary interest. But obviously not heavily involved of course.

Just curious what happened? • Nov 10, 2016 11:24 PM

KU never really recruited Trent or Knox because the staff knew it was a waste of time.

I think that is what is most frustrating about recruiting for KU.

Oh definitely. UK and Duke closed some of their heavy leans today.

@HawkChamp said:

@BShark well, on a positive note, at least he's not going to UK or Duke. Alabama probably won't be much of a threat nationally next year.

They should be good. We are about to find out a lot about Avery Johnson as a coach.

Just curious what happened? • Nov 10, 2016 11:18 PM

Sexton is a tough miss, fit Self's style extremely well. Bama has been on him forever though. Same with Wake and Chaundee. Too bad KU couldn't close in the same situation (Ayton).

Hopefully there will be someone like Vick available in the spring. I am concerned that we need immediate help rather then talent you have the ability to develop without pressure

I think, despite the attitude issues that Preston would be a good get. I feel like where the teams needs the most immediate talent is in the 4 spot. I think the staff can get by moreso with just developmental guards, though Duval would be quite the grab and hopefully the staff gets more involved with MJ Walker.

Marcus Garrett Signed • Nov 10, 2016 10:57 PM

Definitely helped by Larry. And UK was involved but idk to what extent (not sure if he could have committed there). I know for a fact KState wanted him, but LOL if it's a choice between KU and KSU.

ESPN, Talking Heads • Nov 10, 2016 10:53 PM

If KU beats Duke I will be very happy and surprised.

We are probably going to see a foul fest in KU IND.

Marcus Garrett Signed • Nov 10, 2016 10:51 PM

@BeddieKU23

Before I got to the next line I was thinking Vick is not as good of a shooter as Graham. That's okay though, his shot is improving and it isn't broken.

Vick was an interesting recruitment. Another Self decommit grab. Was going to SMU as of this time that year. Basically of the vaunted back court this year Josh Jackson is the only one that was a plan A. People freaking out about recruiting (not saying anyone here is) should consider that.

Lucas wearing a boot • Nov 10, 2016 10:42 PM

@HawkChamp said:

I still don't understand why you would have Lucas play in spite of the injury. Give him some time off to get better, like a month, so he can be fine by March. Our chances of going to the final four take a serious blow without him. Maybe its just me thinking this way.

Definitely not just you. This team needs Lucas, he is an important piece of the puzzle.

Lucas wearing a boot • Nov 10, 2016 10:27 PM

@BeddieKU23 said:

@drgnslayr

It's probably why he didn't play much in the 2nd exhibition game. I believe he only played 15 minutes.

If he plays and makes the injury worse, this is on Self for not doing the right thing. Landen is too important to worry about 2 games. We have to believe everyone could step up in his absence.

Maybe I'm assuming too much but anytime a kid is walking around in a boot its more then just a pre-caution and Self downplaying the injury is what coaches do

Agree. These games are not that important.

ESPN, Talking Heads • Nov 10, 2016 10:26 PM

If Duke gets healthy they are rightfully the odds on favourite. I'm beating a dead horse here but agree with @BeddieKU23 re: Kentucky.

Looks like he might be considering Saint Louis. The weasel is up to tricks again.

According to multiple reports late Tuesday and Wednesday, five-star East St. Louis big man Jeremiah Tilmon — the No. 1 player in the state and No. 25 in the nation, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings — will not sign a national letter of intent with the Illini during the early period, which ends Wednesday.

The 6-foot-10 Tilmon, who committed to Illinois in July, has not publicly decommitted, and the Illini still could sign him in the spring period, which begins April 12. Some speculation has Tilmon taking a look at Saint Louis, where Belleville Althoff guard Jordan Goodwin — a top Illinois target — signed Wednesday

Ford is killing it. After being fired for major suckitude too. Funny.

As for Garrett, this kid is a steal. Probably top 25 if he played on the shoe circuit.

Cliffs: His HS coach is good friends with Self and Snacks. Goes back to Self's OSU days. After the staff saw him play, they made him a major priority. Self feels he is versatile and can play any perimeter position in his system. Can fit in with any other perimeter players due to said flexibility. Long, athletic, talented. Will be a major player for KU in time. Self appreciates Garrett's loyalty to KU.
