@BShark

Bill probably disagrees but yeah it's not wise given our injury concerns down low

KState game thread • Jan 18, 2025 05:41 PM

@BShark

Think it's matchup based. Hopefully can set the tone for rebounding and defense and rotate him when needed. Can't get in foul trouble though, will force our hand even more

KState game thread • Jan 18, 2025 05:35 PM

@BShark

And how they win hopefully is what I'm paying attention to

KJ Adams • Jan 17, 2025 04:49 PM

Down to 2 guys we have that normally play the 4/5 positions. Griffen/Storr are going to have to step up.

@drgnslayr

I think we've seen Juan isn't a scorer, nor can he be relied upon to do so on any kind of consistent basis. The Creighton/Mizzou week where he went 11/35 from the field in two games where both teams baited him to shoot is a good example.

KU now dead last in free throw attempts in all of college ball

Kind of harsh but true • Jan 16, 2025 10:36 PM

@approxinfinity

Perhaps that's due to fatigue from the obvious 3 guys. Many have seen enough of the same game after game, year after year. That also indirectly points a finger at Self for treating those 3 different even when things are going bad.

More often then not our HOF coach has been steps ahead of us even when we think we know better. With this roster and how certain games have gone I'm not so sure that's the case anymore. Kind of gone from invincible to seeing real weaknesses in the armor. I guess the level of excellence we have experienced here was due to come back to some kind of mean. No other program has experienced the sustained standard like us. The last few years since the title, perhaps the edge has worn some, perhaps the NIL and current climate has wiped his edge over the field. If we look at a lot of the greats that have left the game lately, maybe there's a correlation between them and what we are seeing. Who knows. Losses suck. Losing in such a way where the ceiling of the team looks a bit bleak makes it worse. Hopefully there's another regroup and new way coming and this is yet another test on the road to get there. Grasping some but trying to stay the course given our history of doing such. But it's getting harder with each data point that kind of reinforces some troubling signs

The thing that bothers me most about last night besides the poor in-game management of rotations and reading the room of who was playing well/wasn't, is the fact three Seniors, two of them 5th/6th year guys did not have a lot of poise during critical parts of this game. The turnovers last night were awful from Juan and Hunt in particular. This is a reoccurring issue that happens in big games like this, especially on the road. We've seen the ceiling of all 3, there is nothing untapped to unlock from any of them. Maybe they will learn from this but I'm not optimistic there.

Hunt's effort last night was piss-poor on both ends. There's a pattern there with him when things don't go well. Competitiveness especially.

Juan missing 5 Free Throws at critical points of the game. Unfortunate I guess is the nice way of putting it.

Hopefully KJ is okay with that shoulder, but he was not good on offense around the rim. 4 years later with his athletic ability and still not finishing strong and through contact.

Zeke is our best offensive player and yet he is rarely the focus. Flory is one of our best 5 players and yet he's a sub playing out of position when Hunt stays in. What a mess

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 01:54 AM

Can we hire an offensive coordinator?

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 01:53 AM

Disappointing loss and there isn't a lot of positives to take from it. You just have 3 Sr's that are very limited offensive players. Mayo not being the focal pt and not realizing just how impactful Flory has been, kind of keeping the team from finding it's ceiling which has shown itself a lot since December to be low

KU'S collective would like a refund on the Storr fee

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 01:32 AM

@Kcmatt7

Has an ugly shot too

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 01:30 AM

That's why storr don't play

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 01:29 AM

Wide open 3 to cut it to 2, brick

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 01:06 AM

I love possessions where we get a bad shot with no passes

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 01:01 AM

Got back into this

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:53 AM

Nice job mayo. Sittrr

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:50 AM

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:50 AM

Please Hunt foul out

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:33 AM

Not unexpected. This is who they are

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:30 AM

Pathetic ref show

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:28 AM

That won't get you minutes as a freshman

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:27 AM

Very disappointing from harris

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:21 AM

Done with these refs.

8 bad passes will do that

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:19 AM

Getting away quick.

@BeddieKU23 making baseline jumpers doesnt hurt though

Sure but we all know that's not what Self cares about.

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:14 AM

Just draw another foul and get to the bonus. Need to get this crowd and momentum shifted

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:13 AM

@approxinfinity said in Looking forward to Hilton:

This would be a great game for Storr to show up and build trust

Even better if he learned where that trust could be earned, by playing team defense

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:10 AM

Typical

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:08 AM

And again. Travel and calls a foul. PAID

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:08 AM

That ref is bullshit

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:06 AM

Adams is big time at the line this yr

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:04 AM

Not their ball

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:03 AM

And just like that espn misses a score

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:02 AM

Iowa St doesn't seem like they have any offense so far. If we could just figure it out on offense at some point this one could go our way

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 16, 2025 12:01 AM

@wissox

Even better when they go full screen to talk about something or someone and miss actual gameplay.

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:59 PM

Nice play Juan to mayo

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:56 PM

Sad ref. It's a foul, you're right there and just blind

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:56 PM

Or make a shot or 2

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:55 PM

Weak

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:50 PM

@wissox said in Looking forward to Hilton:

Fans are too dumb to recognize a travel call is the right call.

Or a foul

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:49 PM

We'd be winning if it weren't for dumb plays on offense. Got +2 on fouls in that first sequence and from guards.

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:46 PM

Turnoverfest

Looking back at Hilton • Jan 15, 2025 11:45 PM

Those are the kind of dumb misses that hurt us later
