Elijah Elliot in the transfer portal..
Moretti? Hes been seeking a euro deal since his freshman year. Beard definitely knew to recruit in case
He will probably claim he didn't have a spot back at Georgetown and see what happens
Doesn't help them this yr.
I'll take a Grant-Foster over a Coleman-Lands!
Iowa St added Jalen Coleman-Lands, Grad Transfer from Depaul/formerly of Illinois. Has been around longer then Perry Ellis. Avg 11 ppg on 36% FG & 32% from 3 last season
Season 4 was awesome, maybe the best of the entire series. We are at the end of S5 but we have slowed down since we started watching The Last Kingdom on Netlfix (which I recommend). Season 5 has been very good as well.

With Moreti gone I bet he ends up @ Tech.
Tech is actually full on scholarships right now. Of course numbers always work out but he would have to sit a year so it doesn't help losing Moretti. They have 5 star Burnett replacing him anyway
Texas Tech, Auburn, Memphis, USC, BYU, Wake Forest, Arkansas
Huge blow for St Johns leading scorer & 2nd team All Big-easts LJ Figueroa on the move again. Read an article that made it sound as if some schools were tampering in his ear about an immediate transfer somewhere else.. Oh boy
Davide Moretti leaving Texas Tech for Euro. Been a long time rumor he would go that route
There will be no immediate transfer rules in place until next year at earliest
The immediate transfer rule has been tabled until next season per NCAA. Still I'd imagine just about anyone who transferred to apply for immediate waiver anyway based on Covid etc.
Self will be happy for at least another year as he was opposed to the rule change. I think most coaches will be against it

@BeddieKU23 "They clearly think KU did rub this in the NCAA’s face. Their latest response sure made it sound personal in regards to the Late Night fiasco."
But did KU? I thought I had seen somewhere that the particular video of Self in the Adidas shirt was recorded weeks in advance (before KU was even charged by the NCAA). The optics looked bad and probably a bad decision on the marketing department, but I don't think KU read the allegations from the NCAA and then said, hey guys, "I have a great idea. Let's put Self in an Adidas shirt with gold dollar sign chains on it and go film a promo video for Late Night."
I don't believe KU intentionally did anything to stir the pot but as you mentioned the optics look that way to the NCAA and others. The NCAA felt some type of way about it to include that part in their latest response. I thought it was a very petty thing to do but we're talking about the NCAA here.
The NCAA is so hell bent on hammering KU they took down Stephen F Austin first.
So sad to see this out of touch organization continue to do this. An Administrative error cost them this much. Sad.
Adams is good and I like his game. Would be a nice 4 man and seems like the Big-12 makes up half of his Top 10 so good chance he ends up in the conference. I think KU is after someone in the Azubuike/McCormack mold and that wouldn't be Adams.
26 of the Top 100 is already committed to a program for the 21 class.
Mac McClung released a Top 7. KU wasn't on it which isn't the point I'm making here. It's funny that transfers have "top 7" lists now. I saw recently a football recruit release a "top 20". funny stuff.
They clearly think KU did rub this in the NCAA's face. Their latest response sure made it sound personal in regards to the Late Night fiasco.
Really liked both of your posts.
The crux issue as I'm sure you know is all about labeling Adidas and Gassnola Boosters of the KU program. They even throw in Larry Brown for some fun. KU is the big fish in this whole thing and when logic and facts weren't on their side they went off the rails like they always
Not so fast says Lee Corso! The IARP is funded by the NCAA. How impartial will this be? There are no appeals with this committee. I would not want to be the guinea pig for this latest disaster
The NCAA has recommended KU's case to the IARP. Yikes
It will be competitive as always. The 18 game Round Robin schedule with 10 teams makes it that way. I think the league overall lacks top end talent with experience. There's a ton of youth new blood in the league due to 6 of the 10 bringing in 5 or more new guys so I think the well in advanced rankings/potential seeds is overblown at this stage.
I think the league has 4 definite tournament caliber teams. 5 if Texas puts it together which if they can't with the Coleman/Sims + others Shaka will get canned. Ok Lite could make it 6 if Cunningham transforms them for a year. I don't see anyone else making it.
For Baylor it all depends on what Butler & Teague do as far as the draft. If they both come back they are a #1 type seed team again. They take a huge hit if both leave, if one leaves it depends on which one, Butler coming back would be more impactful.
Tech will be better adding an actual low-post transfer and getting the 5 star recruit Burnett who's the perfect fit for Beard. I don't see it with West Virginia, still lacking any perimeter talent beyond McBride. Texas has all the talent but we all know their biggest problem. I'm not high on the rest. Oklahoma St will get a lot of chances for having the #1 recruit but I'm not sold on the rest of the team.
Of the recent offers at PG JD Davison & Nolan Hickman stick out. Davison has elite level athleticism hence his 5 star status. Hickman has great handles, quickness and play-making ability. I think he's the more attainable recruit of the two. Really like Hickman's tape at PG.

@BeddieKU23 just went and read the whole article. Bates is probably a top target based on that.
I think its smart to keep a player like him as a top target in case someone like Sallis doesn't end up being someone they can really get. In a perfect world Self lands both along with Brown and calls it a day. There's room for all 3 if Ochai/Tyon end up in the pro's after next year

Bates made it sound as the staff is potentially recruiting for 6 spots. Depending on the seasons of McCormack, Agbaji & Grant-Foster..
I guess could be pretty big turnover then possibly. Lots of new faces
Things have a way of working themselves out. I don't see it for Dave but GF is definitely on the radar of NBA scouts and of course Agbaji is well known. I don't think KU will lose all of their upperclassmen on the roster but crazier things have happened. I think the staff will work hard to keep one of Dave/Ochai as a Sr.
Those that stick around always have good seasons and elevate their stock. We'll see what happens, weird times
He's the type of kid that if there was an AAU season probably would be getting more and more attention. There's room for him to move up in the ranks from where he is. Hasn't come close to reaching his ceiling at this point
Bates made it sound as the staff is potentially recruiting for 6 spots. Depending on the seasons of McCormack, Agbaji & Grant-Foster..
They are recruiting Bates hard still according to himself. He had a virtual visit with KU recently.
“The message to me was [that] I have a lot of other good schools that want me, and they understand that, but when it’s a big-time basketball program, they just talked about the history,” Bates said. “And it’s right in my backyard. Why not take that?"
Perhaps even more notably, Bates said he was told the Jayhawks would be ready to take him whenever he commits.
Man that Purdue/Virginia game in the tourney two years ago was one of the best games I've seen in a while. Carson Edwards was unreal that game. I also enjoyed KU's trouncing of Purdue a few years back in the S16 I believe it was? I believe it was also Purdue that we beat in 2012. Can't say I have issue with Purdon't and Painter seems like a perfect fit there
This is actually a very manageable non-conference schedule. Will be interesting to see who we get in the SEC/Challenge- Guessing either @LSU or @Florida. It's not an easy schedule by any means (when is it ever) but manageable.
UCLA lost their two best players at the moment. Leading Scorer Chris Smith declared for the draft (although he could pull out) and 5 star recruit Dashean Nix went pro. Not a Top 25 team without either of them.
Georgetown lost their best player to transfer yesterday. Their other top player went pro.
Creighton will be good, probably a Top 15 team. They did lose Alexander to the Pro's which was a huge loss. They would be Top 5 good with him.
USC has had a lot of roster turnover. Very little talent on the perimeter remains and they only have 1 spot left to get someone who can score.
Colorado will likely take a step down after losing Tyler Bey to the Pro's.
Virginia will be good as they get the transfer Hauser eligible. The inside/out combo of Clark & Huff would be tough as well. Kentucky is Kentucky. 7 freshman, 2 upperclassmen.
Yep that's a good one to be in on.
In 19.7.8.3.1 Importation of Facts.
Facts established by a decision or judgment of a court, agency, accrediting body, or other administrative tribunal of competent jurisdiction, which is not under appeal. Doesn't this clearly state only facts can be used which are not under appeal? I'll look over this again to see which rule the NCAA used against KU.
Gassnola's testimony was apart of Gatto's trial. Where was Gassnola's case separate? If I remember correctly didn't Gassnola strike a deal with the FBI in exchange for him being a cooperating witness. A lot of the allegations from the NOA against Self and T revolve around Gassnola's testimony in the trail.
Really you think he's a 3 year player? Based on anything?
If that occurs we'll need multiple bigs, in addition to Zach
Yes, the NOA response from Bill Self references the NCAA bylaws. In the first post you can download and read where this is posted. Page 26 would be a good place to start.
Bylaw 19.7.8.3.1 Prohibits the Importation of Facts from or Consideration- in this case United States vs Gatto is under appeal.
19.7.8.3.1 Importation of Facts. Facts established by a decision or judgment of a court, agency, accrediting body, or other administrative tribunal of competent jurisdiction, which is not under appeal, or by a commission, or similar review of comparable independence, authorized by a member institution or the institution's university system's board of trustees and regardless of whether the facts are accepted by the institution or the institution's university system's board of trustees, may be accepted as true in the infractions process in concluding whether an institution or individual participating in the previous matter violated NCAA legislation. Evidence submitted and positions taken in such a matter may be considered in the infractions process.
Was in the 2021 recruiting thread but thanks for giving Zach his own he deserved it.
Definitely a talented high 4 star caliber player with a really smooth 3 point shot at 6'9/6'10.
Yes "Book" Richardson is the Assistant your talking about.
It will be interesting to see if there is benefit for KU dragging this out as long as they can. Duke is now in the news. Louisville was last week getting their NOA. Arizona and LSU have to be next. Something like 16% of P5/P6 schools have been charged with violations. Is the NCAA really prepared to hand out punishments to that many schools. The Duke/Zion Allegations could be game changers in this.
Let's not forget Gassnola's dealings weren't mutually exclusive to KU. He's tied to the NC St & potential Arizona situation as well.
Another interesting part. The NCAA violated its own by laws using evidence in the FBI trial against KU in its NOA. If the case is still pending appeal when KU goes before IARP or a federal court I wonder what grounds KU has because of that.
Love it. Great job by the staff locking him down early
With the amount of time he's spent on campus at games it would definitely be a shock if he doesn't commit. Weirder things have happened. Fits a need as well if Agbaji/Grant Foster were to move on after next season to the next level..
Transfer Portal approaching 900 as we hit Mid May.
Definitely needs some weight. The usual. Upper and lower body strength. If and when he makes it to campus he is the kind of stretch 4 that other programs have used against KU plenty in the past. He could also be a small ball 5 depending on how other parts of his game develop

It looks like, as @jayballer73 astutely pointed out in the 22 thread, we’re going after a different type of guy these days. I think Bill saw what he had last year and was like OH. This could be fun.
And with OAD all but officially over with the new G League contracts it makes sense. We'll still get our Bryce Thompson's and others, but as far as top 10 recruits go I say steer clear. Build the bench and solidify the starting 5 with KC players and the occasional Wichita recruit, as well as adding nationwide ones such as Frank and Devonte (Gethro fitting that mold for next season).
There's not enough local talent to keep KU competitive at a national level. KU would have to land every local player to have any chance at being competitive which isn't going to happen as long as MoKan is the dominant AAU team in the area.
KU lands a local talent every other year on average with varying degrees of success.
KU is a national brand in basketball and with the new rules on players selling themselves, KU needs to market the exposure a potential recruit can get at KU to land top players.
Why do you say Mokan being the dominant AAU team in KC is a detriment to KU? KU has 3 Mokan players now. Do you know of any high profile players at Mokan now that we are/should be recruiting?
Kennedy Chandler, but we can't play in that sandbox and his focus is on swooosh.

Nice! Grabbing his teammate can't hurt there either..
WOW. Huge commitment out of left field..Zach has upped his game tremendously in the past year at Sunrise. Think Matthew Hurt in terms of comparison. Can really shoot the ball from the perimeter at his size. Watched Several Sunrise games this past season and came away impressed with his ability.
