Same but we can hope some factors make a difference if he doesn't have the season expected. He's not even a starter here. There's no NBA team that's coming for that

I think our NIL makes a difference here. Also Self. If he isn't going to stick around to be the best player he can be under Self he likely isn't headed for a serious professional career. This is where he needs to be to get where he wants to go. We all see the flashes in him but he's still not there to being a finished product. I'm very surprised he isn't a starter given the NIL we gave him. Hopefully he's open to a 2nd year

Some buzz and chatter that Tiller will pick KU after all. Believe he's announcing on Saturday.
6'10 forward with 7'3 wingspan. Self is not messing this cycle with getting kids with the ideal measurables.
Tiller is very skilled but a player I think will definitely be in the Self toughening school for a while. We'll see how this one goes.

Sounds like we getting a good athlete. Measurables and athletic ability sound great, hopefully he has some skill.
Calderon is a high-level athlete with exceptional length, huge hands, and a frame that is both strong and defined. He's measured at 6-foot-8 with shoes on and has a massive 7-foot-3 wingspan and 10-inch hands. His athletic testing numbers are equally impressive with a 38-inch vertical and the fastest full-court sprint time in the entire OTE program. His physical tools are just as impressive within the flow of the game as he has easy bounce, covers the court, and has all the tools necessary to thrive on the defensive end of the floor.
The 4-man here has to rebound at a consistent clip and it doesn't happen currently. He even played the 5 last night and rebounding was an issue with his man during those possessions. It's a known weakness and not going away.
What I do see collectively is just better rebounding since we have more depth, so we are not reliant on just 2 guys to board like last season. We got 9 boards from the bench and were +4 on Mich St for the night. I think that relieves some stress on KJ but we'll see.
So far we are +8, -1 +4 on the boards. Should be a coaching focus as we head to conference play where specific teams certainly make it a big part of their identity (Houston etc).

Hmm, I'm not quite that concerned. About what I was expecting for a team with so many new pieces. November basketball. If we look like this in February that will be alarming.
Plus we knew already the defense was going to be a concern coming in. There's a lot of work to be done there.
IMO as others have mentioned, drop coverage with Hunter on the ball screens seems like something they must consider doing. Too much film of KU struggling here. Griffen might have made the play of the game where he had great awareness and got a block, that was a big time play that changed the momentum. So, there was defensive plays made when needed but it wasn't pretty. Mayo and Hunt also came up with key steals/rebounds as well late.
Foul trouble was an issue and MSU playing 2 bigs forcing Self to play Bidunga at the 4 with Adams saddled with 2 fouls. It worked on Offense as KU got into the paint and got Flory three dunks but defensively, I could tell they have not practiced it much, if at all. Booker had one where Flory never left the paint before he took his shot, the same area Hunt was already in, so that leads me to believe Flory did not know his assignments playing the 4. He's more mobile than Hunt so it was kind of alarming to see how much room he was giving his man who was camped on the perimeter.
I definitely wanted to see this combo out on the floor but it definitely needs some work defensively.
