@Kcmatt7 Sorry, I'm behind, but who is Blake Harris? - I mean ya he plays at Washington, but is he someone we had recruited before of - -just askin. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Hes apart of Washington's recruiting class. He's from NC and having seen him play i think he's a bit underrated. We have not recruited him to my knowledge but if there is a change at Washington maybe he looks around and I'm hoping that KU would look at him

Just as important is the fact that if that class falls apart, they lose the other two Seattle guys (HS teammates Davis and Nowell). They can't afford to lose Porter and two kids that grew up in Seattle. That would be a disaster for the program.
I still think Romar gets fired next year, or the year after, but you can't give away a once in a lifetime chance to turn the program around by getting Porter (and keeping a couple of local kids) in the fold.
We offered Davis as well..
I feel confident we won't be going to the Juco route. Spring time always brings out some options. I would take Smith if they targeted him and then find ourselves a grad transfer after the season ends.
Well we must find something to disagree on then! Ha
If you had asked me Tuesday about the Baylor Game I probably would have said we'll get beat by a bakers dozen but I think Baylor losing Monday put the pressure on them especially with the games they have left. Getting swept by KU will be kind of demoralizing for a team that has played so well all season long. And playing in Waco has never been known to be big home court advantage so I think our guys will be able to handle it.
It didn't work but I know that's the point and I absolutely agree. Romar shouldn't have the job at Washington but I think we all know if he's still there that it has everything to do with 1 recruit..
Baylor has the toughest remaining schedule. KU, @ ISU, West Virginia.
I think Romar will be at Washington next year because of the Porter's. It sounds like the younger one might move up a year to play as well. That would give them 4 top 100 kids plus the underrated PG Harris. Hard to see them pulling the plug on that type of talent infusion. Under any other normal circumstance Romar should be gone but when you get a generational talent like Porter everything gets put on hold.
I actually thinking losing at OSU is more likely than losing Saturday. OSU has been on a roll and we always forget to get off the bus in Stillwater.
Don't get me wrong I think Baylor will be pumped to win this game and its more important for them then us in the grand scheme of things. But its an early start and traditionally Waco is a place that isn't as tough to play as others on our schedule. I think this is another pride game for KU and I expect we will play with enough toughness to pull it out. I was less confident earlier in the week when emotions from the improbable comeback victory Monday were still fresh. But with 5 days to rest and prepare I'm thinking these guys just go in with that killer instinct and get it done
Good recruiter but not a great coach. I think he's always skated by on recruiting. That 2011-12 squad really gave us a game. A few years back he overachieved getting to the Sweet 16 again. Some coach will get some good pieces to work with, obviously Dennis Smith is gone but 4 double digit scorers could be back for a new coach to groom.
Definitely, Williams is a must get.
He had a couple of unexpected runs in the NCAA tournament but overall he was terrible in conference play. I think this years squad which has a lot of talented pieces being so dysfunctional really made it impossible to keep his job.
Apparently the ocean wasn't free enough to come here. Next year there really won't be any doubt about playing time availability.
Blake Harris is someone I've mentioned before. He's a player, I don't understand why he's underrated and if he was available I would hope the staff would take a look at him.

Norm checking in on studs Silvio De Sousa and Emmitt Williams Thursday. I guess Duval too but blah.
Good plan sending our best after those 2 studs
Agreed, it didn't work for Duval under similar circumstance. Lewis is probably not someone Self takes without knowing Dotson's intentions. Regardless of ranking Dotson is exactly the point guard you build your future around
I keep seeing Grimes is projected as a PG, I still see him more in the combo guard role. Dotson is just an unbelievable bigger need now. Lewis is solid, I think we'll have a tough time pulling him out the south though.
If Graham returns all the sour grapes are forgotten from today. But we know either he'll declare after the season and keep us waiting until after the combine is over or declare and give Self some time to figure out option #345643 of the 2017 cycle. I'm not buying anyone who thinks he's coming back as some of the media is trying to talk up today in light of losing out.
And yes something about Marcus makes me think we are still under-appreciating signing him.
I guess the only silver lining I could get from today was that 2018 KU will be hard pressed to lose Dotson and Grimes at this point. Self gets to sell the ocean to them both
I do hope he has a role next year. At this point the role is expanded to say the least. There may not be a signing on the horizon that is better than him and I think Marcus will prove to be as good as any in time.
I think we still got a great chance at Ayton running point
Frank Jackson will be back but he's been playing a combo guard role for Duke. Duke, KU, Arizona are all selling the same soda, they need a primary ball handler
And apparently when it comes to Duke it doesn't seem to matter who's on the roster, they get who they want
After the KU visit he went to the Duke/UNC game with Duke as his perceived Favorite since they offered him. He also has plans to go visit Arizona soon officially and Seton Hall could be also receiving a visit. He said that if KU landed Young that he wouldn't consider us anymore so in some regard we are still in it. Nobody that follows his recruiting believes KU is likely to land him no matter what we pitch to him.
I doubt he signs before April. Another where the dad is very much involved in his recruitment,
Another win for Nike/ESPN Calimari. Just further enforcing his will on the top high school kids going forward
He is quick and has good handles. Physicality could be an issue for him until he matures. He's a gunner though and will spend a lot of his time shooting the 3
The comment wasn't meant to be mean in anyway but his elite skill is perimeter shooting. He's a 6'2 beanpole with average athleticism.
I certainly don't wish he fails or gets hurt.
not that I know of. 3's are worth more than 2's..
I hope Marcus Garrett scores 25 against him next season. Hows that for class? Garrett did beat him in a HS game earlier this season
Definitely, they trolled Self. I hope Self uses it next year when they play each other.
did anyone actually watch it? it was over yesterday
Definitely his hand was forced into thinking/coaching/reacting differently. He's got a 6'8 guard phenom acting like he's a post player for sake. We took the Nova page and have made it work.
it will be nice when he puts up 35 against us on 8-10 from 3 land and still loses the game. Problem is he won't actually care
Very good points.
Actually we could probably say our perimeter defense usually can't even put 4 minute periods together. How many double digit leads have been blown in a matter of minutes, often before the next TV timeout even comes. It's been very unexpected the perimeter struggles but the lack of depth and the way the game is being played hasn't helped. The Big-12 is also very very guard heavy this year so KU faces quality guards every game.
In that roster scenario no we don't scare anyone.
We won't know anything about Preston until he's out of HS and the rumor mill comes back around with him.
Some many unknowns and how we finish in March will have a huge say on what happens as well with the roster.
Scott is an idiot, that much is true after yesterday
We definitely fell victim to the hottest shooting game by an opposing team in history at Allen Fieldhouse.
Burton/Long were en fuego from everywhere. Maybe the only game in Self's history at Allen where I thought he was out-coached. We just stuck with M2M defense and didn't even attempt to change how ISU was attacking us. It wasn't like our offense struggled either. Game is in the past, kudos to ISU for sticking it to us.
With Huggy Bear we know that he's masked not having top-talent with style of play. He's gotten kids to play with unbelievable hacking effort and its worked. The law of averages says ref's won't call everything in hopes that trading FT's for not exposing his talent deficit works. It's genius because instead of maybe a Top 25 team sometimes, he's a perennial now and he can recruit specific kids that other schools won't compete for. The reason Ahmad is arguably their best player is because Ahmad was a top 50 kid coming into College. That he just flat out won against other big schools that wanted him.
Just a list of possible kids that could be on the graduate transfer market. I'm assuming most of these kids either transferred or red-shirted at some point which would in theory put them on track to finish their last year somewhere else. We probably won't know for sure until late March what kids would be good to graduate and go.
We'll see what options are actually available. I don't think anyone other then Keene is all of that exciting at the moment.
I do think you need to have someone running this team next year that is more than just nothing special. Not many top programs get away with their floor general not being as good as the guy on the other side. Frank Mason and Graham are not "average". The last time we settled for average we had Tharpe. The College Game today requires that your guards are your best players. Newman/Vick should be great combo options but we need more than 1 guy who can shoulder leadership/ ball-handling duties.
that's a good one!
More to add that I jacked from the thread on the phog. There is also a list of possible transfer bigs as well.
Brandon Goodwin, Florida Gulf Coast: 6-foot-2, 180 lb SG who transferred from UCF after the 2015 season (remember him?). He's putting up 17/4/4 on 55/40/78 shooting splits.
Jonathan Stark, Murray State: 6-foot-0 PG who used to play for Tulane, but transferred. Averaging 21p/3.6r/5.3a per game on 43/42/83 shooting splits.

you mean to tell me it wasn't a fluke that they lost the game right after beating KU @ Texas while shooting 9/25 from 3 land?
Iowa St has 5-6 seniors in its rotation with no front-court. 8-5 isn't improbable but to have the same record as West Virginia who has been a consensus top 15 program all year seems improbable to me at this point
because he's already told the coaches his intentions and that info has made its way out into the recruiting world..
planned on it, did it for Perry last year
Already did!
Seems like he's too close to his family to leave. Mom didn't want him to leave as most mothers do. In the end he's sticking with familiarity. And if all goes to plan in his freshman year he won't be at OU long enough for it to matter.
