@ralster Lucas is 5th year, right?
See you all tomorrow for additional post mortems and strategy for Tuesday.
Our solid help defense, don't ever get beat to the hole...kills us against 3 point shooting teams.
Too often we play off of 3pt shooters and help off of 3 pt shooters because of our core defensive philosophy.
I suppose it's asking too much, especially in an early season match up with a team with that philosophy, to get players to adjust for a single game (or two with Duke coming up).
Looking at what Villinova did to us defensively on short turn around last year in tournament, seems like things like that can be done to effect.
But I know, Self's a system guy and that gets us a higher win% than everyone else...guess pick your poison and your bliss!
@JayHawkFanToo IU might...that's their game...
Duke can probably do the same things with K's philosophy.
@Crimsonorblue22 yeah, too many fouls.
Why does the NCAA have to keep jacking with these early season games.
@BeddieKU23 yeah, I'm wondering about our scheming.
Outside of playing personnel changes 4-1, not sure I'm seeing anything yet that says we will use that to maximum effect.
@jaybate-1.0 And they still haven't solved his cramping issue.

well this team just missed shots period, so many missed bunnies, so many missed shots from guys that usually make them. some FT's as well at critical times.
Yep missed a lot at the rim. The curse continues.
Looks like we shot 50% from 2pt range to go with under 32% from 3. So does look like shooting % is down.
@BShark yeah, guess we see why.
Don't know that that wins % wise as more balanced, but sure can make for some big wins in big games.
@BeddieKU23 but hit nearly 79% FT's...not terrible.
Offensive boards and 3pt shooting for IU were our achilles heel.
@HawkChamp saw Svi step away from defensive action a couple times too.
Lucas got a lot of credit for stabilizing our team last year...and stepped up his game after that whole mess of meetings between coach and 'The Core'. But not seeing carryover and we don't have the cohesiveness that thought we might see mixing experience and new talent.
Maybe IU with their offensive approach isn't a bellweather for where we are against a more balanced approach team.
We have one player that's ready for the season.
All other pieces aren't there yet.
Lets see some of that nasty
Offensive Rebounds and loose balls like that.
Has Frank played the whole game?
Let them drive...don't go for any fake drives
That wasn't bad defense but...dang
This is going to be my question for awhile and would love after this is over to hear discussion on it:
Do we have the scheming to play small ball?
Rebound in traffic...nice LL
So...
Mason or Sheron Collins?
@DCHawker but he got all ball...
Looks like Graham and the nutristionist haven't gotten it figured out yet.
All ball
I'm not a fan of the offensive player extending the arm to create contact and getting the call...that is what Frank did there, but that's the way it's called and we had the same thing go against us. ..
And 1
There we go
Need a stop
@kjayhawks didn't say it was...just a stat check
PF's
KU 25
IU 23 now
Think we just got one of our bad calls back
LL hits FT's
Our bigs are a huge work in progress...
That looked like offensive player created contact by extending his arm...
Need shots to go down
Lucas under the basket...
No foul a better resolution
Boards
IU 35
KU 26
3 pt shooting and they have 15 ORB's...
Guarded lob to Lucas?
Looks like if they're gonna call that on Mason, we need to give LL a break, he was fouled on that attempt to go up for a dunk.
Bill is going to have his work cut out for him this year forming this into some sort of coherent way to play and put the pieces together to get there.
@approxinfinity cause we don't trust our bigs?
Though we did have some good action going inside off and on
Why was LL under the basket, maybe blocking out, but completely took himself out of the play as well.
Did I mention that the ref's have really sucked
Did I mention the ref's were bad...
Why are we defending the lane like it's fort knox
oh, and Landen, really, learn to handle the ball.
Refs are just bad
Bill could learn from IU's motion to get 3 pt shooters open without the inside out action. Add it to the toolbox.
