Just read under armor offered KD 30 million for 1 year! His other contract is up soon.

High Hopes For A Bruise Brother... • Aug 06, 2014 05:20 AM

@drgnslayr I think Jamari and Cliff will be great bruise bros!!! I think they will play together a lot. I'm hoping maybe even some pressing? Depending on the match ups, I'd put 4 guards and Mari in to press. Run the floor. Praying that kid has a great year and stays out of trouble!

@JayHawkFanToo one left

@JayHawkFanToo just read an article about Lebron meeting his coach today. Think the coach is intimidated? Don't really care, I'm a bad sport!

High Hopes For A Bruise Brother... • Aug 05, 2014 10:30 PM

@drgnslayr I'm sure by now, you all have seen this? Another bruise brother?

Wait, wait, wait, wait! A 6' 9½" athletic beast of a player became available in late July and is planning to visit Kansas this coming weekend? Say what!?!? That's too good to be true, right? Wrong! Once Ray Kasongo was back on the market he immediately became a player coaches from around the country, including KU, wanted to learn more about. Fast forward a few short weeks to this weekend; Kasongo and his parents will be learning more about Kansas.

Last summer Kasongo become a pretty big deal in the recruiting world when he put 24 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks on BOTH Cliff Alexander and Jahlil Okafor in Las Vegas. At that time Kasongo had three schools that he was focused on, Oregon, LSU and Florida State. Although Kansas was interested in Kasongo back then, the Jayhawks never offered because they were still recruiting, the previously mentioned, Alexander and Okafor.
After committing and de-committing to Oregon last October Kasongo ultimately committed to the Ducks again before signing in early November. Then on July 30th Kasongo was denied admission into Oregon which started the recruiting process all over again.
Kasongo is originally from the Toronto area, but spent time at East Ridge High School and Pikeville High School in Kentucky before going to Phase 1 Academy in Phoenix, AZ for the 2013-2014 season. According to Kasongo's mentor, Brandon Bender, another Canadian has already told him Kansas is the place to be.
"He knows [Andrew] Wiggins," said Bender. "Their families know each other and Andrew has been in his ear about Kansas," Bender added.
And what about Kansas? Well, according to Bender, KU was a no-brainier of a school to consider once they called to inquire about Kasongo.
"I mean - it's Kansas," said Bender. Coach Self and his staff have done a great job with bigs and are known for developing and getting big men ready for the NBA. "He is a 6'9" chiseled athletic monster," Bender added about Kasongo.
Kasongo turned 19 on June 13th and is closing in on 6'10" and 230 pounds. His ability to snag rebounds, block shots and play above the rim is something that Kansas needs moving into the 2014-2015 season. The addition of Kasongo to the KU roster would give Kansas terrific depth at both post positions. It would also allow Coach Self to play Ellis and Traylor away from the basket more which he has mentioned he will experiment with.
Kansas, Michigan State, CAL, Memphis, UCONN and more have all shown interest in Kasongo. With a visit planned to Kansas this weekend the Jayhawks could have a big addition to the roster.

@JayHawkFanToo well, ok!

Tracking Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk • Aug 05, 2014 05:27 AM

@Wishawk you soccer guys should "fork this topic". I don't know how. Check the Thread tools.

A Game Changer • Aug 05, 2014 02:20 AM

@DoubleDD my friend, sounds like it's a done deal. Sucks!!! Hopefully something good will happen for wiggs! As for Lebron........

Tracking Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk • Aug 03, 2014 11:49 PM

@HighEliteMajor I would guess not just talent, but being a few years older would certainly qualify oubre as a stronger, more productive freshmen. I'm thinking Svi will need a guardian! Can you imagine if he would've had Tharpe for a roommate? That was low!!! Shame on me!

@kubuckets I really want good things to happen for this kid! Hope he has a good agent! Do you thing Coach helps these guys after they're gone?

I don't know how you figure out who's staying or going?

@kubuckets does he only have to stay a year?

Tracking Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk • Aug 03, 2014 07:15 PM

@rustindodd: Svi Mykhailiuk's Ukraine squad went down to Germany in the European Championship "Division B" final. Svi had 8 points on 3-8 shooting.

Hmmm? Not sure what to think!

@DoubleDD thought you might be interested in this article. Wiggins is saying the right things!

@JayHawkFanToo you know I was being sarcastic?

@HighEliteMajor

Kansas University basketball’s standing as one of the top programs in the country was one of the biggest reasons the Jayhawks were chosen to represent the United States in the 2015 World University Games in Korea.

“We went through a pretty strong, long process to find the most appropriate team and Kansas was a great fit,” said Craig Jonas, the deputy head of the USA delegation in charge of selecting the representative, during a news conference Tuesday at KU. “When you walk the halls here, you realize what a great tradition Kansas has, and we’re ecstatic about having them there.”

The U.S. International University Sports Federation’s choice of a complete college hoops squad was a change from years past, when American all-star teams were sent to the Games.

Asked about the specific criteria that set KU apart, Jonas pointed to the Jayhawks’ five-year record — No. 1 in all of college basketball — plus preseason rankings, expected returners and last year’s RPI. A smaller, more speculative factor also played a role.

What to expect from Alexander? • Aug 02, 2014 03:53 PM

I think Cliffs a beast, but I think it will take awhile. I watched his 4 ot's in high school. He did a lot of dumb things, that will drive Self nuts. His defense is, try to block every shot. That said, he's played a lot this summer, before the ankle sprain, so I expect more improvement! I think we have some great pieces, can't figure how they will all work, but I think coach will do that! Can't wait!

@wissoxfan83 you better run!!! Jk. We had the toughest preseason last year, so that doesn't always work. Match ups and injuries.

@JayHawkFanToo thanks for the great idea to watch it!!! Jk

Here's an article

So much positive media • Jul 31, 2014 09:22 PM

@JayHawkFanToo I think that is old news?? I read a couple of days ago he was ncaa cleared, but because of his family's need, he was still going to china. Anyone else hear that?

Tracking Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk • Jul 31, 2014 03:28 PM

@Wishawk my point wasn't his choice to play NBA now, because he can't. It was to worry he'd play euro ball instead of coming here. Somebody had mentioned Svi red shirting or coming off the bench, then euro ball was mentioned, like mudlay(sp) going to china.

Tracking Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk • Jul 31, 2014 07:15 AM

@Wishawk do you think playing for his country will be better than getting here?

@DoubleDD my sister had a weimer, he flunked doggie school. He ran across the tile floor, slid on a rug, jumped on the bed and went thru the window. Didn't hurt him. He was a lover, for sure!

@DoubleDD looks like my theory that dog-lovers are good people is true! Chocolate lab?

@globaljaybird ah tore me up! I haven't got a new dog since I lost our golden-2years ago. Not sure I can do it! Somebody once told me you could tell if a person was good if they loved dogs and kids. I find it to be very true!

A Game Changer • Jul 31, 2014 03:51 AM

@JayHawkFanToo I like the way you put it, build and not buy! Feel the same way about Embiid. Great question on their future, I hope they both remain healthy and prosper. They are great reps for KU! I look forward to following them, along w/the rest our players. Went to Bens summer slam, had a lot of fun! It's great to see his love for KU and helping kids in his neighborhood. He's got a great charity. They were auctioning a red jersey of Bens, winner got to sit in the chair and Ben jumped over it to dunk. A very generous man won the bid, 450.00 and picked out a kid that lived in the homeless shelter to sit in the chair. Rock chalk proud!

So much positive media • Jul 31, 2014 12:04 AM

I hope you are right about Perry, but I can't see that happening.

So much positive media • Jul 30, 2014 09:09 PM

@HighEliteMajor so, I think you are saying no??? I thought a year or 2 of college would appeal to them more than say, playing in china.

So much positive media • Jul 30, 2014 07:49 PM

@HighEliteMajor do you think getting a college education would be of any importance to his parents or Svi?

@approxinfinity can you explain some of the new features, like the fav- heart button vs the uptick. Why would we flag a post, the tag? Etc, thanks! Oh and how to use quote.

Boot Camp: Length? • Jul 30, 2014 03:42 AM

They shortened it because coach could work w/athletes for a longer time in the summer. Wonder if any of Hudys testing could help decide that????

@JayHawkFanToo he would pull the same crap and wiggins is young, so probably he'd take it. Mario did. Not a Lebron fan!!

@Kip_McSmithers ditto!

@globaljaybird I know exactly what you are going thru! We lost our golden 2 years ago, he thought he was a human, we did too! Gave us all good stuff! So sorry!

@globaljaybird different pic?

Is it too Soon? • Jul 24, 2014 02:13 AM

@justanotherfan I hope you are wrong on Traylor's PT. Hunter is a complete unknown to me, but I think we will see some Cliff and Mari together, the new bruise bros. Self has a lot of options, I could see some pressing teams w/Greene at 4- like last year, and Mari at the 5. Maybe crazy? Mason or whomever at lead, Selden and Oubre? It's nice to hear so many different names! Hopefully we are all right and we can keep them all happy w/PT. My concern is Cliff in foul trouble. Let's keep this rolling. I'm going to see BenMac sat, can't wait!

@DoubleDD I'm hoping there's more than one. I do think a bunch are going to show huge improvements! I will go w/my favorite guy, Mari. I'm willing that kid to be successful. I'm anxious to see how Hunter does, hoping for good things from him, too. I'm also a big fan of Greene.

The Lebron Legacy • Jul 19, 2014 11:30 PM

@DoubleDD TRob for sure! Have to think on this. For sure Collins!
