@drgnslayr it's pretty amazing how sports and coaches can affect kids lives, some not so positive. I always try to find positives, some men in my kids lives were pretty ugly, my kids never griped and I'm sure they are mentally tougher in spite of it. On the other hand, there were some pretty special guys, like your coach.
@AsadZ I keep pushing for Lucas too, and more of Greene. Didn't like Black and Traylor in at the same time. But, I'm not at practice so I trust Self.
@drgnslayr stay positive and encourage, thank you! Have you worked w/kids?
@dylans ok, that would be hard for me to do!
@wrwlumpy thanks for sharing!
@Blown can't resist, is blown from blowing your own horn? interrogating a kid, really?
@JayDocMD I asked a similar question awhile back, are we missing Dooley? Anxious to hear some more opinions.
@Blown you called it, you sound like an ass to me!
@RockChalkinTexas I'm w/you! In my eyes only, true j-hawk fans don't call out kids! Of course we see their mistakes, but there is such a thing as constructive criticism. How did Perry do against Duke? Forget? Coach said after the game that Perry wasn't feeling well yesterday. Not an excuse, just a fact. Reminds me of the OSU fb coach telling the media to leave his young kids alone and criticize him instead.
@MoonwalkMafia wish I knew what was going on w/those 3 guys. Greene was getting some time, then White was hurt, and not much at all from CF. Really thought Greene was the guy that could help us out.
@tundrahok Bill addressed the problem w/blocking shots and putting you in a bad position to get the block out.
@HighEliteMajor great points! Something must be going on w/Greene. Hard to figure when we are not at practice. I really wish we could get Lucas in sooner, at least prove me wrong! He's so fundamentally sound and strong. Self said something about Ellis not feeling well. Really bummed, but disappointed in our fan base not being supportive. Read the posts during game on KU sports.
@nuleafjhawk eww harsh!
@Chris1955 but, I'm not giving up! I refuse to believe that about Wiggins. Please, someone agree???
@JayHawkFanToo there was one very special game where Danny WAS the general on the floor!
Gosh, sounds like we don't have a chance!
@RockChalkinTexas I'm not making fun of you by any means!
@drgnslayr so, this might be a stupid question, but will coaches and schools want this and approve? Or will there be no choice?
@RockChalkinTexas I was thinking the same, who do you think Smart will guard? I saw him on Spradling some. Was switching back and forth from chiefs game-which I'm sick about! Does Phil Forte just play out his you-know what when he plays us? My only concern about this game is, didn't this play out the same way last year? I'm not sharing w/kstate this year!!! Our bigs should have a field day, OSU has no depth and fouls will kill them! Thanks for your insight.
@drgnslayr my animosity for Marshall is all on him, not their team or WSU. I live close to Wichita, so I see him on tv all the time, and even before the chicken hawk comments, I just couldn't like him. It's just that whiny attitude or a sixth sense I have. My sons friend, who's a D-1 asst coach, said Marshall is not respected by other coaches. Whether we play them or not, I respect coach Self's decision. I'd love to shut that guy up and beat them, but I stand by Self!
On another note, who do you think will guard Smart and who will he guard?
@JayHawkFanToo agree about those reviews last pm!
@RockChalkinTexas do you have bunny ears on a black and white? Jk! I do hope you get our games, by radio?
@jaybate 1.0 somebody has to guard Phil Forte, Appling kid and pretty sure Ohio State has another small guard, Sutton maybe?? I also believe if we go Tharpe and Mason, the other team has to adjust to our quickness. I do agree we need to bring in another pt. Who gets the call on Smart? Who will Smart guard? I'm thinking w/loss of depth for OSU they will be concerned w/foul trouble??
@Hawk8086 I'm referring to jaybates lengthy post from jan 2
@jaybate 1.0 I think you are right, also agree on selden being a little slow-footed. He's a big 2, load-wise.
@drgnslayr agree completely on your 2 and 3.
Anyone that wants to post an article about angry Gregg Marshall, there's another article about his thoughts on playing us and KSU on CBS sports. I don't know how to do it. I can't stand him!!!!
@drgnslayr I also hate the OAD, but mine is more about emotional maturity than skill level. That pic of BMac crying after signing, choked me up. I know he needed money for his family, but crap, he needed to enjoy his college days.
@wrwlumpy my kids make fun of me for using checks! After watching the Miracles, I had forgotten how much I hated Tubbs. So my question is, after Tubbs left did our hate grow for Missouri and soften for Oklahoma?
@drgnslayr didn't think there's was much difference in 4-5 or 2-3, but having Embiid this year, think I'm wrong!
@truehawk93 Greene?
@wrwlumpy loved watching Hasse play. I'll pass on Brady, thought he was way over-rated
@drgnslayr thinking it would be fitting to ask Cole, EJ, TRob, any past players how long it took to "get it"?
@drgnslayr respectfully disagree. I think the reason they decided to go here is cause they got it. I think when they played Duke, they got it. Talking the huge following in Chicago, their visits to Allen field house , the KU basketball alumni, Danny Manning and the Miracles, Mario's shot.........
Love it! Hopefully we see a Missouri fan doing the same thing tonight!
@lighthawk although Withey saved our behinds numerous times, gotta go w/Travis. He took great pride in shutting down great scorers. It also led us to some great transitional baskets.
Perfect for them to see. The 88 team had to overcome so many obstacles. Don't think any team could play w/more heart than Danny and the miracles! Special team!
Welcome! Go early and wander around. I always leave my coat in car, it's hot and crowded. Can't wait to hear about your experience. Mass street is a fun place to shop, eat or drink. Enjoy!
@brooksmd Thanks!!!
I watched some 2013 games replayed on cox22 yesterday. One thing I think these guys have that is special, is team chemistry. Cox had a special on the 1988 season. Wow, I had forgotten a lot of things that happened that year. That team had so much heart, something that can't be measured in HEM's points. I miss Danny, so much class and humbleness. His teammates all stepped up that final game, it was a very special year for Jayhawk bb.
@wrwlumpy defense seems to be a key point this week. Speaking of Kevin Young, miss that high-energy guy and of course "the fro"! Does anyone know what he's up to? Also, is Brady done w/bb?
I'm guessing our guys are working on all your points, as we speak. I'd like to add, playing hard-nose D results in many high-flying dunks!
@Jesse Newell couldn't pull this up from this blog, but read it from twitter. Do you have any stats from their high schools or Tharpe's from last year?
@KirkIsMyHinrich I can't wait to start conference play, going to be an exciting season!
@KirkIsMyHinrich you are exactly right, we have the athletes to play much better D! Hopefully they are getting enough experience they will cut those lazy--assed passes and all unforced to's. Can't wait to see Sundays game, I'm assuming they are doing a few defensive drills this week!
@ParisHawk you are exactly right about that.
@approxinfinity Harmony and order?? I think if you sign to play D1 bb. at KU, for Bill Self , disruptive better be in your vocab! If not, motivation comes from riding the pine! I think all KU fans take great pride in our team's reputation for playing D! Hopefully we see that soon!
@drgnslayr I agree completely about Greene. He gets a hand on a lot of balls. That may be the reason he's getting more time than the other wings. He's a great shooter too!
@approxinfinity I kinda think it's the opposite. These high flying studs could do a lot more dunking by reading the offense. We were always taught one pass away we're in passing lane-uphill and off hand out. 2 passes away in help position. Also taught if you made it hard for their hot shooter to catch it, they would wear down faster and put up quicker shots. For instance Tharpe's first 2 passes in Toledo game, they were in our passing lanes. How do we not read that for back doors, meeting the ball hard, getting some fouls called? Can you imagine w/Wiggins reach how many dunks he could have if he kept a hand out? I loved how hard Travis played, love watching good D and running the floor!
@drgnslayr been thinking about this teams lack of anticipating on D. Coach talked about them not getting their hands up and out-passing lanes. We tend to react and not anticipate, which worries me if that can be taught? Maybe it's not trusting teammates to rotate and help?
