Joe has 0 turnovers btw

Has definitely been a spark... Except, no more quick 3 pts attempts....

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 01:04 AM

1 TO so far in the first half of the second half....

Mason and graham made a living transition threes

Not sure I'm ready to equate Yesufu with Mason and Graham....

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 01:00 AM

That was NOT a good shot by Joe...

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:54 AM

Great to be up by 12, but....

We're at 57% FGs. 10 RB advantage. And, they are 1-11 from 3. Should be 20+...

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:51 AM

First points by Jalen...

We are okay on offense when we actually get a shot up lol

Alas, that's only about half our possessions...

@jayballer67 said in Boo Part 2 Game Thread:

Iowa State not actually strong with the ball either 9 turnovers themselves

Yeah, but it's a 7 TO differential. We should be able to score more than 1 pt per possession. So, the TO differential is the difference between being up 38-24 vs. 30-24...

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:33 AM

7 assists and 16 turnovers. Uh, that ratio will not win many games. Thankfully, ISU is offensively challenged...

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:29 AM

13 FGs and 16 effing TOs...

Curious what is the most we've ever had in a game???

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:24 AM

13 TOs and maybe 2 or 3 actually forced....

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:23 AM

We're shooting 50% and have 16-8 RB advantage and we have 24 points with 3 minutes to go...

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:21 AM

12 TOs - 10 FGs...

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:19 AM

Dave is the least instinctual basketball player in the history of the sport - maybe a wee overstatement....

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:18 AM

HCBS can't believe some of what he is seeing...

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:15 AM

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 02, 2022 12:00 AM

More TOs than made baskets....

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 01, 2022 11:56 PM

Hate to say this, but we are lacking in ball players - guys who have a high bball IQ and instinct for the game. Way too mechanical and one dimensional....

Boo Part 2 Game Thread • Feb 01, 2022 11:47 PM

Wilson can contribute in a lot of ways - shooting from deep is not one of them. Shots aren't even close.

Rewatching the UK game • Feb 01, 2022 04:53 PM

@Jethro said in Rewatching the UK game:

Saw this quote on another board:
"It’s also worth mentioning KU finished the game shooting 11 of 25 on layups. That percentage (44 percent) was worse than Kentucky’s overall field goal percentage of 51."

It's been a season long issue. I don't know if there is somewhere to find the data, but it sure feels like we have to have among the worst make %s from 3 ft in the history of college basketball. The issue is that, almost to a man, every time our guys are around the hoop, they lean or fade away from contact, rather than inviting it. Primary reason that we aren't getting to the foul line nearly as much as we should, especially running so many downhill plays. If you get fouled, it's not a FG attempt (unless made).

@DCHawker exactly 17-3 is awesome but also some smoke and mirrors if we watched the games.

We saw what the sec just did to the big 12 and it wasn’t pretty. Chances a big 12 makes a final four is diminishing as Baylor isn’t a final four team without lj cryer.

Kudos those to our guys for showing toughness to comeback against kstate and hanging on in double OT against tech.

I'm not sure how much I would read into the games with the SEC. Every home team won, except the Hawks. IF we had held serve it would have been 5-5. The 4 teams that didn't play are from the bottom half of the conference, including GA, which is just bad.

I do think their best 2 are better than ours - clearly more athletic. But, I might give a slight edge to our top 6 compared to theirs. Then, a slight edge back to them for their top 10 against all of ours.

Regardless, they are conferences with the most quality nonconference wins and teams capable of making E8 or FF runs.

@mayjay said in Talent Wins Games:

This crappy coaching job still has managed somehow to go 17-3 against the hardest schedule in the nation.

Not a comment on the coaching, but just our record against the "hardest schedule in the nation." Our schedule strength is wholly a reflection of the fact that all the teams we've played are at least decent, to good, as well as the fact that all B12 are ranked fairly high (were all top 60 in Kenpom). I'm not sure there is a Quad 4 team in the bunch - probably only a few Quads 3. BUT - how many wins do we have against teams that are potentially second weekend tournament teams? 2 - MSU and TTU. One, the first game of the season and one in 2OT at home. How many teams have we even played that are likely at-large selections? Just UK, MSU, TTU, ISU and maybe Iona and one of OU or WVU. That's it. We got hammered by UK, barely split against TTU, and we'll see after tomorrow with ISU. Other than that, we've only beaten the bottom half of the league so far.

The point is that I'm not sure that we are even close to as good as our record - and statistical strength of schedule - suggests. At least we haven't yet proven it against many tournament caliber teams.

The question is… How can Bill self and the team use this…
Holy crap

I just don't know, this team can't just magically get more athletic. Remy doesn't answer that either. Joe does to an extent but that ship has sailed in regards to pt.

Very reminiscent of the USC beatdown....

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:45 AM

Well, they didn't get to the century mark on us.....

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:43 AM

Mitch put in more effort to go after rebounds in 30 seconds than Dave did during all of his minutes.....

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:41 AM

They have 17 rebound advantage. Needed a big team effort and didn't get it.

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:39 AM

Based on this game, their Big O may now have a big leg up on our Big O for POY....

Well, there is a pattern here. Bunch of guys have career games against us, because they can. Our defense is porous....

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:25 AM

We've only drawn 8 fouls on them the entire game....

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:20 AM

So much for momentum...

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:18 AM

The difference in the game is FTs and rebounding. They have 10 more points at the FT line...

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:08 AM

3 TOs in the 1st half - 4 already this half. All bad passes...

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:05 AM

They have 13 more RBs and 10 more FTAs...

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 30, 2022 12:03 AM

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 11:53 PM

Kentucky is good, but we are making them looking WAY better than they are. They're 2-1 in their past 3 games, with the wins by 6 and 8 points. And, they lost to Notre Dame.....

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 11:36 PM

20-9 UK rebound edge. And, we've only gotten to the FT line once (at home)....

Squid Game (Thread) • Jan 29, 2022 11:34 PM
