10 - 0 run in 2 minutes...
Well, that halftime lead didn't last very long....

Can this be Marcus’ team if he isn’t the guy you want to have the ball to close the game?
Good question. Not sure yet
I think the only one who can come close to creating his own shot - or dishing - is Thompson...

This roster is karma for us criticizing Bill's commitment to the hi lo.
I love the hi-lo --- well, as long as you have someone capable of playing the hi and the lo....

I'm not sure how to describe Dave's defense... Boisterous?
Spastic????

Hey FT shooting won't suck this year
Really - it did yesterday...
Actually didn't suck - 67% - below 70%, which is almost always the case for KU...

8 - 1 on TOs...
Wow, this is some fugly s***......
We just do not get back and set on defense...

Rock Chalk. It's early on in HCBS figuring out how to build the best 5.
And, early indications are it will be small ball - 5 guards/wings...
A dunk!!!!
SJU lost to Auburn, which just fell to the Zags by 23. Shouldn't we be able to handle these guys???
Dave is nothing but a somewhat serviceable backup big. Problem is, he doesn't have anyone to backup...

@BeddieKU23 We are clearly not the best team in the country right now...
Gonzaga simply has better players. They've got several pros. We have to play a lot better defense to keep up...
TOs last 4 trips down...
Looks like Bill's mask is made from a negligee...
I do like that we have 9 guys who have scored. And, we're outrebounding them this half...
Typical Jayhawks team in one respect - too many missed FTs...
That hurt.... ;(
Looks like HCBS has a COVID gut going...
@Texas-Hawk-10 said in Gonzaga Game Thread:
Gonzaga is the best offense KU will fave this season.
True - but was hoping that the Hawks would be one of the best defenses they would face...
Although he made that, Dave has very little court awareness...
Given the first 8 minutes, down 7 doesn't seem quite so bad...
Finally a little fire from the boys...
@approxinfinity said in Gonzaga Game Thread:
We can still win this. Just no more Dave and make our shots.
And, perhaps keeping them from making as many??? ;)
Zags have 7 different players with rebounds - we have only 2 - Dave with and Mitch with 4. Need to be crashing the boards.
Dave's 20% from the field is just a wee bit short of Doke's %... ;)
Dave is killing us so far...
Lightfoot actually playing better D on Timme than Dave, although I realize that's not saying much...
Zags are on a 100+ pace...
@Kcmatt7 said in Gonzaga Game Thread:
70% from the field is embarrassing. Not even like they’re shooting well, these are layups
And, 11 to 3 on the boards...
Treys keeping us within shouting distance...
Throwing up weak ass shots on drives against their bigs...
@approxinfinity Unfortunately, not much of an early peak, but yes, a peek.... ;)
Right now, we look like a directional state school against the Zags...
Clean block!
Loping down the court...
Quick foul on Dave. Likely he will be spending a lot of time on the pine in the 1st half...
This is truly one of the most idiotic attempts at ranking of greatest college basketball players that I've seen. Number one is the ridiculous Duke bias. As noted, 7 in the last three decades?! Number 2 is the recency bias - yes, probably is a millennial Dookie. Old enough to remember UCLA (other than Alcindor and Walton)???
Those who definitely do not belong on the list of top 50 or so men's college players: Trae Young, Stephen Curry, Doug McDermott, Dwayne Wade, Zion Williamson, Jimmer Fredette, Chris Webber, Marcus Camby, and Shane Battier. Not when the list doesn't include Gail Goodrich, Sidney Wicks, Dan Issel, Calvin Murphy, Rick Mount, Wayman Tisdale, Scott May, Phil Ford, George Mikan, Clyde Lovellette and Bob Pettit (and I'm sure that I'm doing injustice to another half dozen who are more credentialed).
Way over-"seeded" - Hansbrough, Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, Jay Williams, Len Bias, and Kemba Walker. Way under-"seeded" - West, Bradley, Manning and Olajuwon.
I don't have a major issue with the women with two exceptions. The three greatest UConn players were Taurasi, Stewart and Maya Moore. I think the case could be made that Moore should be at the top of that list, but she definitely isn't 4 seeds lines below Stewart. I would note that she is only one of 2 women to make the AA first team 4 years in a row. The other is Courtney Parris, who would be the other quibble.
@BShark While that may be the case, this "result" isn't really a BPI issue - it's that they picked just one! simulation, which is patently idiotic. Given that it is ESPN, they probably picked the one in which KU lost the essentially one in a 100 coin flip very intentionally....
fwiw, since we could meet one of these teams, but Penn State lead Michigan State by 15 at half, until MSU started the second half with a little 34-9 run.....
@BShark said in NUMBER ONE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE KANSAS JAYHAWKS:
The 1st place Kansas Jayhawks, say it with me.
I gladly will - after the tournament....
Seriously, is there anyone who is capable of winning 6 straight games in March??? The 'Hawks managed to win on the road, but by 4 against the last place team in the B12 - which has lost 9 straight games. Other than Dotson, offense was abysmal. Baylor, FSU, Villanova and Duke lose. Maryland getting whipped early by MSU. Maybe Dayton is the real deal - only 2 losses, both in OT (one to KU, of course)? Sadly, UK looking pretty good right now.
Baylor down 1 with 5 to play....
That definitely goes in the books as an UGLY win....
Jeez Marcus...
Unlike Ochai, Braun didn't look like a deer in the headlights on the in-bound play...
