I was referring to how hard the law/rule would be to enforce.
It's kind like the ban on texting while driving that's sweeping the main land.
-
How hard will it be to enforce, and will it be enforced.
-
Is it an infringement on some one's rights? They're not taking the phone away from said person. Just creating a zone where they don't want you to look at your phone.
-
Is it kind of like the Jaywalking law. A real law that is hardly ever enforced.
I would say sensible.
Yet I wouldn't be against signs being placed at cross walks saying don't look at your phone while crossing. A full fledge ad campaign with TV and radio commercials. Followed by cross walks and cell phone use classes being set up all over the country. Pamphlets should be mass produced and handed out to the masses. Protests and riots should be planned in front of every cell phone stand and store. A law suit should be filed against the cell phone makers.
Because if someone is too stupid to pay attention when crossing a road. We must save them from themselves so they can procreate.
OMG
I was sharing this debate on this subject with my wife. She said, "you know how you can protect the Football players from getting hurt?" I'm like what?
Just wrap them up in bubble wrap.
God I love that woman.
Yea I get the road games. But I feel the Royals are hitting that stride that has led them to 2 out of the last 3 world series. These Royals have been there and down that.
I don't remember saying Clinton set up the meeting? I did say Obama and Lynch went out of their way to let this lawyer in.
And this isn't an administration fault. This was before Trump was elected. Remember this wasn't Trump senior.
I'm afraid this was a son thinking he could do something good for his father.
So sad that Trump Jr. is going to be fried for his actions. While Hillary and her actions walks away scot free? :(
I just don't see Self leaving. Sure anybody wants to try their hand at being the best at what they do. An NBA job could be enticing for Coach. Yet he and his lovely wife would have to way the options. Not sure an NBA job could entice Coach. Other than the star and some radio hosts in the KC area he's King. Very few employees that when they speak their bosses listen. Everybody listens when Coach speaks.
It would stand to reason. That if both the Indians and Royals stay hot. That the Royals will still over take the Indians for the division. Royals second half schedule is really weak. I think after Boston. The only tough foes would be the Indians and Arizona?
It appears David Price is having problems with Eckersley. LOL
How about some Boston turmoil and a Royals sweep.
Heard an Espn Baseball analyst say the other day. The other contending American league contenders don't want the Royals in the playoffs. LOL
I'm thinking he might be right.
Hey who holds the HR record in a season for the Royals and How many.
I'm thinking Balboni Right?
Tell ya the truth I've been trying to drink more tea myself. They say it's better than pop. Momma has been getting after me here lately with my health. I tried to tell her I'm just big boned.
I don't think she's buying it?
I'm afraid I really don't have much accept a bunch or right leaning sites. Some better than others.
Time did a piece on it. It's kind of interesting. It tells a little of the story about her. Yet the interesting part is Time says she set up the meeting. Hear Say? I don't know. Really don't have anything concrete to stand on.
I don't think anybody wants to see someone get hurt. At least I know I don't. Yet there is a danger in everything we do. You can't eliminate it. Yea you may decrease the odds, or even have some form of Insurance to cover your injuries. However just mandating something like High Risk Insurance would kill the game and not only that but take another rung out of the ladder of success.
You speak of High Schools being responsible to cover those students who would participate in case of a bad injury?
-
Majority of High Schools are not privately owned. They are owned and ran by the state. Their revenue sources are generated from tax payers. Meaning in order for a High school to field a team the revenue source must go up. Hence the taxpayer would have to pay the bill.
-
Sadly if High Schools are forced to pick up the bill for insuring said kids. High Schools in low income areas will be forced to drop the game altogether.
-
Once you move the line or force a certain plan of action. Like forcing High schools to pay for insurance coverage on football players. Then the debate will begin what about the baseball players, basketball players, and even the wrestlers? As history has shown move that line and it will be moved again and again. Meaning at some point High Schools in low income areas would indeed have to drop sports all together.
-
The thing about football is not just playing the game. Yet it gives so many youths discipline, structure, and a chance at a free education at the next level. The goal maybe to make it to the pros and ink that million dollar contract. Yet in the journey a lot these kids do get an education they other wise wouldn't have gotten.
You start messing around with something because you think it's too dangerous? You might just close the doors on a lot hopes and dreams.
As for the NFL? The players have a union they can fight for what you propose if they wish.
I'm glad you like a good cup of joe. I too like my coffee. PS I know you drink tea. Admit it. :grinning:
Here is the problem with insurance. On paper is sounds like someone cares and it's great. Yet the problem is insurance costs money.
Yes at first it would be free of course but at some point it would become mandatory.
So somebody has to pay. One or Two things are going to happen. You will eliminate the "poor" from being able to play the game. Or you will add even more taxes to the middle class.
Why can't we just leave it alone? If you don't like football don't watch it. People always want to tweak and changed something they don't like.
Just don't watch.
@mayjay says : I would like catastrophic injury insurance to be mandated at HS and above, so the choices people make can at least be adequately treated when the odds go sour.
Why? I knew as a young man that football was full of danger. I had know doubt that I could be hurt at anytime. Football is Football. This isn't like smoking cigs in the turn of the century. Where you didn't know that it could cause a life ending cancer.
It's football. It's not rocket science. If you go slamming into some one multiple times there's a good chance you'll get hurt. Duh? And yes there are those that think they know what's best for you, and feel it's their right to enforce that upon you.
Dude if I want to drink a 64oz soda then that's might right. I don't need some left leaning liberal thinking they know what's best for me and enforcing their beliefs on me. (see New York)
If a person wants to play football then let them. Geez. Next thing you'll be telling me is I can't drink beer and play poker. Or tell me that I can't load up a shot gun and go out into the timber with my champion Weimaraner for fear of my safety. For the record we got attacked by a pack of coyotes one time. She killed two right were they stood, and injured another. The rest ran like scared cartoons. I didn't even have to fire a shot. Yet you will tell me how cruel I am to dogs, and how my life could've ended. And how hunting with dogs and carrying a fire arm is just plain bad.
Just keep drinking your expenses tea and believing you no better than those around you. As for me I'm drinking playing cards. Hunting with dogs, and yes if it comes up. I'll still play some tackle football.
I don't blame the Illegal Immigrants or the companies. I mean why blame the companies? After all our Federal government refuses to enforce the law of the land. (well with Trump things are changing) Think about it? We have sanctuary cities? Yes were if an illegal immigrant breaks the law they are let go, for fear of deportation. This is our own government local and federal. (Well not so much with Trump).
Why wouldn't a US company hire illegal immigrants for pennies on the dollar? After what the real punishment?
If football dies it wont be because of the violent nature of the sport. Let's face it people love violence. Who hasn't slowed down at a traffic accident to get good a good look at the carnage?
No if football dies it will be because something better has come along or those people that think they know what's best for you and just hate free choice will turn the game into flag football.
What's a Cmt? Sounds like you're old High School has things going in the right way. So many not so much.
A lot of them have closed. Do remember when you were in High School and they offered vocational skill classes?
I spent 2 months trying to find a carpenter to replace my big bay window that was taking out by a tornado. Yes 2 months I had to live with plywood covered over my window... I'm going to wait another 2 months to get my roof replaced.
Yea I did. I really feel that colleges should focus on getting their students jobs as much as they educate them for said jobs.
I only say this because it cost a small fortune to attend such colleges.
Holy Cow Kstate just got kicked to the curb. "Last paragraph"

Yet is raising the minimum wage really going to help? Look I get the humanistic side of the issue. Nobody wants to watch a fellow citizen suffer. Yet are we punishing those that do to help those that can't and won't? In a true capitalist society the market decides the worth and value of the wage of a worker. If a position/craft is in high demand a company/corporation will pay more to fill that position. If anybody can do the job or be easily replaced then the wage will go down to fill such positon. Think about it? If you owned a business? Why pay top dollar to fill a needed position, when you can basically hire anybody off the street? By setting a minimum wage, you're setting a fake value of services rendered. This can help those with little to no education/skills, but it can also hurt the person that does have an education/skills.
Where do we place the blame?
-
Our Government -- They did not protect our borders, citizens, and companies. They marched us into a global economy with nations that haven't paid the price and fought the wars. A price and war that the American workers have, to bang out a decent livable wage and retirement plan. Our people and companies have been forced to compete with nations and companies that basically have slave labor. Our government did this with their outrageous trade agreements and high taxes.
-
Our Education system -- Too many colleges care more about getting paid than they do about the wellness and minds of the Students that attend their campuses. The idea if you just get an education, everything will be fine is just outdated. Too many kids are getting degrees in job markets where it is saturated with like minded students. Creating to many workers for to less of jobs. Thereby driving down the cost of wages for jobs that would normally pay a decent living.
-
The closing and lack of vocational learning -- I don't know what happened on this arena? Yet this type of education should be firing on all cylinders. A person can make a nice living in this arena. It is a dream job. Most likely not, yet think most people would be happy making a decent living even if they don't really care about the job.
-
Illegal immigration -- I figure I'll draw some ire with this one. Yet it's true. I hear it all the time they do the jobs nobody wants to do. You know why? Because these jobs don't pay enough. That's why. If there wasn't a plethora of Illegal Immigration workers who work for mere pennies then these crafts would indeed have to pay more. Meaning if they pay more people might be interested. Yes that would mean we might have to pay a little more at the store for some items, yet I have to think it would be only right. Besides we're paying one way or another. I rather pay at the store than having the government forcing me to pay.
Hope I didn't offend anybody. Just my two cents.
I don't mind 810 am myself. Though I do get tired of the lets save MU mantra. Yet from a business point of view I get it. If you can't have KU then your try to grab whatever you can. Hell they would even try to give NU love. Just trying to tap into the NU audience. Yet if they have KU? That's the game changer. KU is like Kansas City's NBA team. Even Keitz has said that more than once on his between the lines afternoon show.
[link text](
I'm torn on this issue. With so many factory jobs gone to places like Mexico and China. It's really hard for a low wage earner to make a living wage. Yet I also understand economics. Whether you like it or not a business can't survive unless it makes a profit. No profits no business.
So are we just kidding ourselves by raising the minimum wage, or is it just the beginning of the end? Something that just has to be done?
For the record I prefer Church's Chicken.
Omg
I'm rolling on the ground Laughing so hard. Oh wait I think I hurt myself. You know fat old guys shouldn't be rolling around on the ground laughing so hard.
Lesson learned. Lmao.
This might get ugly for the Dems. We shall see.
Could it be that Hillary and the Dems colluded with the Russians?
I know this wont change your mind. Yet I thought it was an interesting read. As I've been told, " if you isn't got anything to hide then just share it"
I think it's quite fair and needed if you going to investigate some one or something.
I would also have to ask why Did Obama, and Lynch go out of their way to get this Russian lawyer into the country. A lawyer that just so happens to have the so called goods on Hillary, and a meeting with Trump Jr.
Lets not forget those that view this issue as very important. Also view this as an impeachable or removal from office type stuff. As if a great travesty has been done. Almost Treason.
I gave this some thought. The topic is Why lies work in Propaganda. Well this Trump investigation is the perfect example. Too many are seeing red. They have been filled with lies of Collison for how long? So it's like a man walking in the desert that has no water. When at last he finds something wet to drink. He doesn't care what It tastes like of even if it's good for him. He drinks.
The media and those on the Dem side have been seeing Red since that wonderful night that Trump turned the tables on Hillary. What a sight it was to see so many media types dazed and confused after realizing their champion had indeed lost.
The thing about lies is two things. One, people start not to trust you. Which would explain the low approval ratings that the media has gotten. Two, even when you might be telling the truth? You've cried wolf so long nobody believes you any way.
Take for instance this so called chance meeting with this Russian lawyer. What is working in the Propaganda of the issue? When those seeing red, they become benevolent to the evidence. All they see is a smoking gun and just can't wait to pile one.
Yet one piece of evidence that any investigator would find interesting. Is this lawyers connection and relationship with Obama and Lynch. I would think if one really cared about justice and not just smearing ones name. Then this question has to be answered or at least looked at. It's like the guy sitting out in the get away car. Hey I didn't rob the place I was just sitting in the car. LOL
Sadly the fervor to get President Trump has reached a point in the Propaganda. That it you went around and asked any joe or moe on the street. They would believe (and this important) that Trump himself set up this meeting with Russian lawyer and attended such meeting. Yet Trump didn't. So in those in the haste to Get Trump are going to take down anybody and everybody that is connected or gets in the way.
This is why the Hillary part of this equation is important. Her server and her inability to turn over said hacked information. Remember everybody said the Russians hacked the DNC.
So what information did the Russians have?
Was the Information from Hillary's server the info that was to be given to Trump Jr?
And were they really going to give that information to Trump Jr?
Also why did Obama do nothing when he knew what the Russians were doing?
Trump very much may need to be investigated, yet why aren't we asking these very valid questions. Because this isn't about justice. This is about beseeching a person and a movement.
This is indeed a Propaganda filled with lies.
What I would like to know is why is everybody just focusing on just Trump Jr's meeting with this Russian lawyer? I mean why aren't we looking at the bigger picture?
For instance
Why does a foreign country have so much dirt on Hillary?
Is sharing information actually Collison?
What has Hillary done that some foreign country could have information that could effect her so negatively?
If the FBI Contacts Russia in a fact finding mission is this considered Collison?
Is talking to some one about damning info on another really breaking the law?
Yet we won't get those questions answered. Nah this is all about Trump. Fair and balanced.
So name one Billionaire that hasn't and isn't doing business with China or Russia?
Just name one?
Better yet name me one politician that isn't taking money from a lobbyist? And who do the lobbyist work for? Big business? So now name me one big business that isn't doing business with China or Russia?
Yep Trump is guilty.
I think these two have a death wish.
You speak of health care? Yet you lame blast Trump as not knowing much. Well my friend the ACA aka Obama Care isn't working either. So I guess the Obama and the Dem party don't know much either? Right? I'll throw arrows at anybody you want. Yet I'm fair.
You want to throw some arrows at Trump cool. Yet lets throw some at Hillary, Obama, and the Dem party? I'm guessing you're not interested in that though.
Hey I've tried to throw out and state my case with many posts. Yet all I'm getting is how dare I back Trump. Sorry to offend but I do.
I can state the reasons but I already have. It's just becoming redundant at this point.
If your ire is directed at me. Then let me know. I'm more than happy to let it go and move on.
Whatever? To bad you didn't have the same passion for hanging Hillary as you do Trump. No need to reply I get it.
Stupid injuries? A broken nose tells me the KU boys are getting after it in practice. Me likey.
Actually I thought there would be more. I'm not a millennial, in that I actually like listening to different points of views of the major media outlets. But man this investigation is becoming a joke. Even Comey said after he was fired that Trump wasn't being investigated. Yet now he is?
I think we are starting to reach that point were statue of limitations should be kicking in.
Mayjay I read everything. Hell I even watch the view. Yes the view.
Whao there big dog. I'll fry anybody Rep or Dem if they're doing something wrong. No issue with it.
Yet six months of investigation? And this is all you have? A potential meeting between a Russian lawyer (that received special treatment from Obama and Lynch to get into the country) that may have produced some dirt on Hillary. I'm sorry are you telling me the saint Hillary didn't try to find dirt on Trump? Again so are you telling me that your ok with Obama using tax payer money to influence the Israel elections?
Also as from what I've heard Trump Jr. has broken no laws? Yet I'm not a judge. Sooooooo take it with a grain of salt.
Really my issue in all this is some folks want to find anything to impeach/remove Trump from office. They're just looking. You're an educated man you know as well as I do. You shine the light in someone's closet long enough you find some dirt. Funny how this investigation team is full of Hillary and Bill donors and supporters. Doesn't sound like a fair and balanced investigation to me. Sounds like a hanging to me.
This investigation is never going to end until something is found. Period. This investigation is a witch hunt. I'm fine with bringing the man down if you must, but if you do then you better bring down Hillary too. Having an illegal server, bleaching said server, denying the FBI access to said server, taking a hammer to multiple cell phones, and lets not forget all the donations the Clinton foundation receives from Russian higher ups.
But you don't want to talk about that tough. I know, I know us Average Americans are just supposed to believe the Dem party will be fair and balanced, because they care.
As for the Rep party they're spineless. They promised for 7 years to repeal the ACA, and what do they do when they have the power? nothing but bicker and grand stand while the working American man and woman suffers. And no I don't have much respect for Dems either. All they care about is winning.
Hell yes I want to believe in Trump. Our country is what 16 trillion in debt. It's getting harder and harder for the average man or women to get by. Yet all anybody wants is bigger Government entitlements with no way to pay for them. Please spare me the Rich are going to pay for them.
Bottom line we have a broken government that is running amuck. Hate him or like him Trump is a message sent to the nation and this government. We still have a voice.
I just love that you put KY in there. Man that kid was one of my favs by far. How many times did it seem KU was getting pushed around and KY would do something to rally the troops?
Why do you call this guy an idiot? Is not Trump in a box with the Russian issue? If he tries to smooth over relationships with Russia it will be seen as a confirmation that Trump was and is in the bag with Russia.
A myth/thought I might add that the media pounds today, yesterday, everyday and all day long. Granted it is a subject that is under investigation. Yet most already think he's guilty. Yet no true evidence has really came forth. Every little tangent that comes out is viewed as the smoking gun to bring down Trump. Then the sun rises and it starts all over again.
That's not an opinion. That's just what you see when you turn on the Teletube, or while reading a newspaper.
I don't now, but I think this is propaganda at it's best.
UDoka is going to shock the world, and so are the Jayhawks.
I agree and understand.
I just don't know if fixing the big media is possible. It seems that profits and viewership aren't as important as trying to control and fixing the message.
Big media has become no different than Wall Street. When you have journalist signing multi million dollar contracts. Fair and balanced goes out the window and is replaced with an hidden agenda. They're no longer to be trusted.
It's the typical propaganda war. Control the consumption of information to the masses and you control the masses.
I wouldn't underestimate the typical internet blogger. I'm assuming we're about one more generation away of making national media somewhat obsolete. I know it's hard for cats like us to fathom such a notion. Yet it is really a movement to cut the cord. Millennials are really the fire starters of this movement. They are leading the movement away from being force fed an ideology that doesn't fit their views of government and the world.
And lets face it the big media is more about forcing an ideology than they are reporting the facts.
The thing is the news outlets have become like big business they have a controlling interest in what our government does.
It appears just posting the truth or shinning the light in a dark corner doesn't pay the bills or makes the controlling persons of such Media outlets very happy. There has to be an agenda and a purpose instead of just showing things and issues for what they are.
There was a time in my life I put a lot of stock in what the News Media journalists had to say. Yet it has become clear to me what a journalists used to represent is no longer the code of the modern day journalists. Really very few care about truth yet most have an angle and an axe to grind.
It might be frightening to think that so many Americans are turning to internet bloggers to find their news. Yet is that really any different than getting your information from these news outlets of today? Each one has an agenda. At least with a blogger you know what you're getting. The Media is supposed to be fair and balanced. Sadly something it no longer partakes in.
I don't think we Americans have a problem finding and understanding the truth. I believe the problem is the fairness that is giving to the that truth. As I said once before (I think). We humans or persons will gravitate to what fits our belief system. If you lean left your not watching Fox news, and if you lean right well you're not watching CNN. I mean why would anybody watch a news channel that would only bash your party and what you believe to be the truth?
I think the interesting part is this movement to the information age. No longer are the masses forced to ingest a ginned up spin by some leaning Media outlet that has strings attached. I see it everyday as I cruise the this thing we call the Web. There are a plethora of bloggers with connections that are reporting on stories that the media outlets wont touch because it doesn't fit with their narrative. Many Americans instead of being brainwashed on what to think about this party or president have found a new source with unlimited information to tap into. They get to hear and read the other side of the story the side the Media doesn't want to share or air. Sadly I think the days of the Media's stronghold over the masses is coming to an end. I remember when I was a growing up if it was on the news then it had to be true. This is not the case anymore. The media outlets have an axe to grind and an accord to fool the masses.
You know its funny and sad at the same time. Yet if a person would really think about it. The US media has done way more trying to effect the results of our elections, than Russians could ever dream of. I'll never forget the last presidential election. Oh my. In the end the media is losing it's grip and control over the American viewer, and they don't like it. I believe that is why are seeing a 24 hour hit campaign on Trump. The media is desperate to hang unto their control over the masses. Even the millennials are even going as far to cutting the cable cord altogether.
The next midterm and presidency elections will go a long way to telling how much power the media will wield over the masses. At this point I'm thinking not much.
I know what you mean. A couple pallets stacked with money goes missing nobody bats an eye. If Trump so much looks at a Russian then everybody wets themselves.
Doesn't make sense to me.
I agree for the most part except the NASA cost. Man that pennies for a space program. I mean we're paying Russia to fly our astronauts to the space station.
In fact I would believe that the US is falling behind in the Space Chase.
Anyways just my two cents.
You talk and talk defense. Yet you won't acknowledge that this years team will have a footer (as @jaybate-1-0 likes to call them) that can defend the rim?
So lets talk defense. The last two years Coach has rolled out LL as our best big man. I love the heart and the kid but come on.
How much does it effect a kid playing the one, the two, or the three spot knowing they have a rim protector?
Come on man. You have to at least acknowledge something special might be taking place with this years team.
Yet hey if you want to believe this years team sucks before they even play a game. That's on you. Keep screaming defense, and then when KU loses 54 to 55. You can complain about that this team has no offense.
I guess some Jayhawks fans are never happy.
Funny you bring up Kevin Love.
[love plays no defense](
I'm assuming you're right Love and Wright didn't play in that game. Yet sadly love became a household name in the NBA. Nobody remembers Wright.
UCLA still beat KU.
I agree defense is an important part of the game I would never argue that point. Yet your making it sound like this years team can't win it, because they can't play defense.
How about we wait to see what this team does?
To be continued?
