Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 17, 2017 09:06 PM

Ok so lets go at a different angle. You think that defense only wins championships in all sports. OK so what about old Roy Boy who doesn't play defense. Yet he as 3 NC's?

Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 17, 2017 09:01 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10

So your saying the 06/07 team which is basically the same team that won it didn't lose to UCLA regional final, 68-55

Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 17, 2017 08:50 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10

Duh. but these kids had played what 3 years together? So UCLA never stopped these kids from advancing to greatness?

Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 17, 2017 08:49 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10

I don't think so? I remember Villanova Pounding the ball inside to that kid I can't remember. Yet he made a fooll of the front court of KU. It was done in during crunch time.

Sadly it was a bad reminder.

Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 17, 2017 08:40 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 k

Have to disagree. So none of the 08 players ever played UCLA?

Defense is great. I agree it's an important part of the game. Very few run and gun teams ever win it all. Yet they're are plenty of teams that won with just offense. Sadly it's hard to prove in basketball.

Take the Syracuse and KU national championship game. Syracuse didn't play great defense. KU just couldn't hit the board side of a Barn. Yet you come back and say the only reason that KU couldn't make their shots. Defense? See what I'm saying.

Yet if you remember Syracuse when crazy from 3 land. Also KU didn't beat Memphis with defense. Lets not forget KU was down for the count. It took fouling and a strong offensive. In fact it took that evil three point shooting to bring down Memphis.

Oh and one more thing? Sad to hear you think this team doesn't have the goods.

I for one thinks this team has a great chance. They are talented, they are veteran bunch and they are deep.

I'm going to enjoy the up coming season. I hope you do too.

Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 17, 2017 07:35 PM

You have to give the nod to the 08 team. It's the respectful thing to do. Yet this current team hasn't played a game yet. I think we are all in for a surprise. I under stand the concern of foul trouble with Doka. Yet don't forget this kid has a whole year under Coach's leadership. Just to learn what Coach is trying to lay down. I mean I thought the kid was a quite a quick learner before he got hurt. I'm thinking Doka may shock the world.

Think about it? He's was playing the 4 and 1 quite well before he got hurt. Meaning he doesn't have to come off the court when Coach wants to change some things up.

Graham, Vick, Svi, and yes even Newman are all going to be veterans in the back court. Again Newman has a whole year to just digest what Coach wants with out the pressure of playing. Don't forget Newman was considered a OAD. So he does have the talent. He too may shock the world.

That 08 team was tough as h e double hockey sticks. No doubt. Yet I wouldn't just claim them best as matter of fackly. . Lets not forget the 08 team ran the weave like no other KU team, and they loved to drive the ball. Shooting the 3 was way down on the order of importance or running the offensive. Something tells me this years team is going to shoot the three and shoot it a lot. Also as I said before the 08 team loved to drive the ball. I'm not sure they would have much success with Doka guarding the rim. Remember the UCLA matchups? UCLA took away the paint and forced the 08 team to make a living from outside. The 08 team became quite average on the offensive side of the ball.

Hey I would have to give the nod to the 08 team because they have done it and proved their worth. This current KU hasn't even played a game yet. It's an interesting topic.

Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 14, 2017 04:04 AM

@HawkChamp

Well just let me say I love that 08 team. They were champions.

However I just know. When we look at the paint play. Kaun and Jackson were awesome. They were tough as they came. Yet Udoka is a man child, a footer. The boy can play. Neither Kaun or Jackson were scorers. At best they were muscle ball paint players. I have no doubt Udoka could and would hold his own. Arthur could be a problem though. Yet Preston could be just as good as Arthur. And lets not forget Whitman. I love Jackson he was a warrior. Yet LIghtfoot is just as much as a warrior who can actually shoot.

Robinson was a great point guard, yet does he have the same fire power as Graham? I don't think so. Rush was a great shooter yet is he any different than Svi? My money is on Svi. Collins is a wild card Not sure this years team has an answer for him. Chalmers was a ninja thief. I think Newman can match and surpass on the offensive side of the ball. Not so much on the Defense. Chalmers was quite special on the defense side of the ball. He was a thief. The wild card in this matchup maybe Vick. If Vick takes another big step were talking lottery pick.

I don't want to pick a winner. Yet I do believe this team can hold it's own. Well see.

@justanotherfan

Well lets uncover the story? It appears that the Russian lawyer that met with Trump Jr. had received special treatment from Obama and Lynch. UMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Makes one think.

Yet I get it we don't investigate Dems we fry Reps.

Is Breitbart a legitimate news site? • Jul 14, 2017 03:09 AM

@mayjay

So you're ok with Hillary selling 20% of US uranium to Russia, and then receive millions from Russians into her and Bills foundation? If you are ok with that then I guess you're ok with the Dems fixing their election, and Hillary destroying and bleaching her illegal server. You know the one she refused to turn over to the FBI. And what about taking a hammer to all those cell phones?

Yet your upset that Russians tried to effect the US elections? And you blame Trump. So are you ok with Obama trying to effect the Jewish nation elections with American Tax payers money?

So let me get this straight. Our intelligence agencies have said Russia has tried many time to effect our elections over many years and decades. Yet here we have Hillary selling 20% of the US uranium to Russia. So if Russia is so evil and so wrong for trying to effect the US election process. Why is Hillary selling 20% of US uranium to Russia and then gladly receives millions donated to the Clinton foundation from Russians that benefited from the uranium deal?

I also have to ask if Hillary is willing to sell America to the Russians then why would they not want her president versus a wild card like Trump?

OK my friend lets fry those Republicans and give the Dem party a free pass. Cuz you know those Dems really care.

Also by the way Bill got impeached because he was getting blow jobs and bonking the interns. Maybe your ok with that?

We Need a Title • Jul 14, 2017 01:52 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10

Yea but the ACC and the SEC are east coast darlings. They get the love and the benefit of the doubt no matter what.

It's not about what we know. It's about perception. The Media doesn't and won't view the Big 12 as a good basketball conference.

Putting pressure on the current Jayhawks • Jul 13, 2017 11:54 PM

I know this years team hasn't played one second in this upcoming season.

Yet just looking at talent? Is this year's KU team more talented than our NC team of 08/09?

Who would win if these two teams locked up on the hard court?

I have some thoughts but I'll let you gals and guys speak first.

We Need a Title • Jul 13, 2017 11:49 PM

@HawkChamp

I used to be that guy. NC or bust. Yet I've come to some truths. One KU will never be UK, Duke, or UNC. Not because of success on the court. As KU and Coach have don't quite well. So much they are breaking records with success on the court.

First KU plays in a Football Conference. The Texas and Oklahoma schools make it so. Lack of success in the tournament confirms the belief. Second the east coast Media basis is what it is. They don't care about fly over country. See Hillary.

Having said that I do Believe Coach is about to crack the code. Even with the near miss of a final four run last year. Coach hasn't given up on the 4 and 1 even though he has the bodies to play is high/low.

I also believe Coach will not leave KU anytime soon. Even with the recruiting wars. Coach is getting nice recruits year after year. Also KU is one of those few schools that is still hungry even with it's recent success. Meaning KU fans and alumni don't take for granted the success and Coach. Plus and NBA coach never has any down time. In the college game Coach can do his thing. Yet still get some time to regroup.

In fact I think this year team maybe better than our 08 team.

@HighEliteMajor

Normally I can get on board with your thought process. However it seems to me there is an element of KU Playing MU, that you don't really want to confront.

It is easy to make claims that the fans and Coach of KU are just being too emotional about renewing the so called rivalry.

I'm trying to remember? Yet wasn't the MU and KU football game at Arrowhead becoming a dud? And talk was swirling about not having KU and MU play their football game at Arrowhead. I do believe that was the feeling and this was before MU Left the conference. You see there was already talk about moving the KU and MU game back to their respected campuses.

As for the basketball game. KU doesn't need MU to sell out the Sprint Center, or any arena for that matter. KU basket is one of those rare schools that can sell out an opposing teams arena. Playing MU in basketball does nothing for the KU basketball program.

Also I don't like the fact you're grouping all KU fans together. Just because I don't think KU should play MU doesn't mean I'm scared as a fan. I just don't see the point. Take for instance I'm not a big fan of the "Champions Classic." It's played way to early in the year. Yet I get it. The national exposure is just to much to pass up. There is a reason KU plays in the Champions Classic. They get a return on playing in that Classic.

There just isn't anything to gain from playing MU.

Is Breitbart a legitimate news site? • Jul 12, 2017 06:33 PM

@justanotherfan

Yea, but you left out the large amounts of cash that rolled in from Russia into the Clinton foundation. All donors where involved in this so called legit dealings with Russia.

So why is it ok for Clinton and the Dems to talk and deal with Russia yet we have to have an investigation of Trump and is team just for talking with the Russians? Seems a little hypocritical to me. Then you have Obama on tape telling a Russian Official I'll have more leeway to do what I want after my election victory.

As someone that is quite familiar with investigations. I can tell you if dig hard and long enough you'll find dirt or wrong doing on anyone, especially a politician.

I'm not against investigating Trump and his team. I find it quite funny though that every time a perceived smoking gun produces it's self the Left dances in the street claiming they finally got Trump. It is quite humorous.

However if you going to investigate Trump, then you have to investigate Hillary, Lynch and yes even Obama. I mean you have Bill and Lynch having a private meeting on a runway in Arizona. You have all kinds of leaking and names that have been unmasked. You have Comey saying under oath that Hillary broke the law but wouldn't bring charges because he couldn't find any intent. Are you kidding me? This is all just begging for an investigation.

All I ask for is fairness.

@approxinfinity

I don't care if you run this web site or not. YOU have some good posts. However?

[Pick your poison](

@mayjay

Well I thought Coach speaking on the issue was good enough? I guess not?

@HighEliteMajor

Ok my friend and foe. Why should KU play MU?

I don't see any gain by playing them. I just don't. In fact I think KU agreeing to MU bails them out of moving to a conference that doesn't care about them.

Think about it? Nobody is talking about MU anymore. So why give them a foothold so they can be talked about?

I like you post but you almost speak of a smoking gun yet you ignore other smoking guns.

Did not Hillary sell a third of the USA uranium to Russia only to receive big donations to the Clinton foundation? Where's the investigation.

Hey Trump Jr. maybe guilty as hell. Yet why not be fair and investigate Mrs. Hillary and her husband in Russian collusion? Just saying the Clinton foundation received some serious cash from Russia.

Where is the investigation? I mean we are going to attack Trump Jr. for some tweets. Yet we're going to look the other way when Russia puts some serious money in the Clinton foundation?

And why aren't we investigating this?

A study of Brain patterns. ↗

I would say that yes Breitbart is a legit news site.

It's all about the person. If you lean left then you will look for sites that confirm your thoughts and reject those that don't. Same with those that lean right.

I think the most important thing is what actions or thoughts that bring both the right and left together in agreement.

Like the Kathy Griffin holding a severed Trump head. Both sides felt that was going to far.

CNN Bullying a poster for what he posted about their organization. Again both sides said whoa not cool.

A Dem shooter shooting a Rep at a baseball game. Again both sides not cool.

I'm afraid that Dems and Reps will never think the same way. Yet maybe that is best for the country. You know keeping one party or the other from going to far in one direction or the other.

Embiid: "F--- Lavar" • Jul 11, 2017 11:26 PM

@kjayhawks

I'm sorry but I have to totally disagree. Lavar Ball is that Dad on the side lines screaming at his kids. Plus What business does he have? Oh you mean trying to milk his kids for the life style he never earned?

Yes Lavar is getting the free media, yet he is also putting extreme pressure on his kids to preform. It's hard enough to stick in the NBA let alone with your Dad making claims you're the best that has ever picked up a basketball.

Lonzo could be a fine NBA player. Yet with his Dad spouting out his mouth the greatest ever. Anything less than a Lebron or Jordan type career. He will be considered a failure. That's not cool.

FBI's chance(%) of winning for KU Football • Jul 11, 2017 11:15 PM

IS AWESOME. I think he's building a machine. Will KU football be OU or Alabama? No of course not. Yet forget this team and talk about this program. KU football will be that program nobody wants to play.

Back up the Brinks trucks and pay David Beaty. Don't let this cat get away.

Coach speaks about KU playing MU ↗

Coach isn't interesting in what's best for MU. He's kind of interested in what's best for KU.

ROYALS vs Seattle Game 3 • Jul 06, 2017 02:49 AM

Vargas not looking good.

@jaybate-1.0

Well I really don't have a good answer for you. It could be the stacks was a new thing. I would imagine Coach Cal promised equal playing time.

Remember the white and blue teams Coach Cal played around with?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a correction in the whole stack approach. As Coach Cal is finding out they NBA cares more about potential than what a kid does in college. As he forced to recruit kids, to replace kids that could use another year of college ball.

I would also think the NBA would correct it's self at some point to. As the cost for paying for potential and that talent not coming to fruition as to be weighing on GM's across the nation. At some point a GM is going to pass on the going for broke approach and take the seasoned and proven player.

Then again I could be wrong.

I think it's obvious that the big money is really affecting the College game in today's era. Coach Cal doesn't even have to leave the UK campus to bring in the stellar recruiting classes he's been getting. Look at Coach K who has been running the Duke program for like ever. Sure he's always gotten his fair share of talent. Yet all of a sudden he too is banging out stellar recruiting classes. What happened? Did Coach K all of sudden change how he recruits? I think not.

To answer your question. I think one would have to look at recruiting through the eyes of a High school recruit. I would think there are three things a recruit looks at.

  1. Playing time

  2. National exposure

  3. Can friends and family come and watch

To be honest I wander if the OAD effects recruiting more so than the Shoe petro. Any kid that has the goods has no choice but to seek playing time, and national exposure. They just don't have time to attend a program that is rebuilding.

@globaljaybird

I understand where you're coming from. Posts and Posters can be taken out context for what they are trying to say and what they really believe. It can be tough at times to tell if someone is being controversial or just being down rude.

However I not sure I can share your view of @KUbuckets. It may not be perfect but man It's quite a step up from so many other comment boards, and I'm glad it's here.

Sure it has its tiffs and what not. Yet at the end of the day the posters are for the most part thoughtful, respectful, and persons that love the Jayhawks. Plus the best part is it doesn't have the plethora of Trolls that plague so many other comment sites.

The thing is? With so many persons coming from so many different walks of life, to express their own views on a topic. It should be expected that the meeting of the minds would cause some friction from time to time.

I would also say that @approxinfinity does a fine job of keeping the posters and comments in line with the spirit of @Kubuckets. He'll let us play but steps in when his action is required. He'll either join the conversation/debate to calm it down. Or he'll just put a lock on the topic.

If you don't mind I would like to disagree on one more issue with you? You staying away and not posting, sharing your knowledge, and command over the English language does more harm than good. I would even point my finger at @HighEliteMajor on this issue. When you guys get in your element and give the meat of the bone you wish to express. It's a thing of beauty. So many times I've walked away from one of yours and @HighEliteMajor posts inspired and perplexed. I would spend days pondering on what you have posted. That my friend is a gift and not to share that gift with your fellow KU brethren is the sin.

Looking forward to reading one of your insightful posts in the near future.

@globaljaybird

What does GN mean? Forgive I'm not hip. Didn't you compare @HighEliteMajor to @elpoyo? If you didn't then I'm sorry.

Yet if you did. @elpoyo is no fan of KU. Sooooo?

@wissox

Maybe you're the better person than I. As I don't put value in what one claims. I look at the fruit they bare. @elpoyo has never said one thing positive about KU. Even a negative fan will admit they love the Jayhawk. You won't hear that from @elpoyo. You just won't, and maybe that makes me wrong? I'm old school. I call a spade a spade.

@globaljaybird

It's just an opinion. I don't know him personally. Just read many of his posts, and understand that he's a bit of a controversy. Yet I would admit here lately his posts have a me a bit baffled. Yet hoping and banking that he has a method to his madness.

Thing is you may not like what he has to say. Yet I'm not sure you can say he's not a KU fan. Too many times he has challenged Coach only to bow and give respect.

My guess his he doesn't care about the journey anymore and wants the NC. Hey I've been there. I just woke up one day with the help persons like you. That the journey is just as important as winning as it all. So I thank you.

@globaljaybird

Whoa @HighEliteMajor is a KU fan my friend. Too many times he has set aside his core beliefs to buy into the KU hype. He posts often and he admits when he's is wrong. Yes he can be controversial. Yet that is good for topics and points of view.

@wissox

Sorry my friend @elpoyo is not a KU fan. I get the being negative approach. I've tried it myself. Yet even when I was on this road I had to give props when it was deserved. @elpoyo is not a fan of KU basketball. Don't believe me? After KU cuts down the nets this year you won't hear from @elpoyo. I don't care how negative you are if your Jayhawks cut down the nets you will give props and celebrate. Yet I promise you. You won't read a post from @elpoyo after KU wins the NC this year. Bank on it.

Another reason to dislike LeBron • Jul 01, 2017 01:05 AM

@approxinfinity

So help me out here, as I'm not an NBA guy. Meaning my knowledge is low.

Does this say LeBron has a problem with KI?

I just have to laugh every time this topic gets brought up. It's always the same thing too. KU and Coach Self are butt hurt, but MU they're great because the want to renew the so called rivalry.

Of Course MU wants to play KU.

They over played their cards. The SEC popped their balloon. MU really believed they were the cats meow. This isn't KU or Coach Self's problem. It's not the responsibility of KU to throw MU a life line. What am I saying KU owes MU nothing and is not obligated to play them. It's not KU's and Coach's fault that the SEC used MU like a ragdoll to get the St Louis and Kansas City tv market. It's not KU and Coach's fault that nobody in the SEC respects or cares about MU. Hey the writing was on the wall. All you had to do was look at Arkansas. How long has Arkansas been in the SEC? And still the SEC culture rejects them. What MU thought they would do better? No MU made their bed let them lay in it. KU owes MU nothing. Putting MU on the schedule would be the dumbest thing KU can do.

@HighEliteMajor It would appear to me the majority of KU fans don't want to play MU. Wouldn't it be in Coach's best interest to listen to what the fans want?

@jaybate-1.0 I'm actually ok with KU students packing heat. I mean the libs love to put on masks and gang up on those that don't believe as you do.

I call it leveling the playing field. I didn't raise my baby girl to be brain washed. Taught her to think for herself. Sadly in this day of age. This isn't popular. I have a big relief in my heart knowing that my daughter can protect herself when Dems want to start burning down the place.

It might be the classic of Coach Cal getting out of town before another program that he's lead goes under sanctions? Love him or defend him. He has a strong history of leaving his previous school in NCAA sanctions.

Just a fact.

So let me get this straight MU wants to play KU and KU doesn't want to play MU. So KU and it's Hall fame Coach are to blame? So MU gets to call the shots even though they don't even own the KC market let alone the St. Louis market. Yet KU and it's Hall Fame coach is to blame?

I'm so glad KU doesn't play them guys anymore. However I'm even happier that KU is dropping some serious cash into KU football. Sounds like to me KU is looking to make a move to the Big 10?

KU is an elite program. So sad some fans think the men players should be perfect. OH GOD if they aren't then they are cursed for life. Hey we fans know. So Players if you do wrong at KU just give up. Quit? You have no chance. Because some of our KU fans know. Don't fight it, just accept it. They are experts on what is acceptable and not acceptable.

So making a sales pitch to high school women looking for a college basketball career. Come to KU. No really. As some our fans believe that you can come do what ever you want without punishment. You can spit in a persons face. Slam a drink in someone's face. Hell punch a man in his face and your Golden. If a KU man so much gets angry at any of these actions. Then he has the problem and shows a lack of character of a good law abiding citizen.

So come ladies and play basketball and abuse KU men. Our fans will back your actions.

Reid Extended, Dorsey Fired • Jun 24, 2017 01:42 PM

I'm not sure letting go of Dorsey over Reid is such a no brainer. I like Reid, but to win in the NFL you have to draft. Since Dorsey had arrived the Chiefs talent level has risen. So much they could even win without a great QB.

Reid is a tireless worker, yet I'm not sure he should be calling the shots in the draft. Which I think the releasing of Dorsey does.

10 to 1 I bet the Packers jump on Dorsey. There's a reason they were upset when he left them for the Chiefs.

Sadly I think the Chiefs took a step backwards with this release of Dorsey.

Man I hope I'm wrong. I love me some Chiefs Football.
