@JayHawkFanToo

Sorry about the late response, and yes I did read the article that you linked. Yet I'm not sure I totally agree. As the saying goes there is more to the story.

You're a pretty smart guy. Thank about this? Was Wiggins really on the KU radar? I know I was completely shocked when he picked KU. Also having done and been apart of some business deals myself I know a lot of work is done and things put into place before all the t's are crossed and the I's are dotted. Don't you think it's a bit strange that as soon as Wiggins signs with KU rumors start swirling that Wiggins a shoe deal from Adidas in the 100 millions on the table? I'm telling you a business like Adidas doesn't start throwing around numbers like that unless there is more to the story. And the kicker is Nike only guarantees to match?

You maybe indeed be right not sure you're making a point, or just trying to prove me wrong. Yet there are a lot stuff that doesn't add up in all this.

Besides I have hard time believing that Adidas would just all of sudden want to lock in a 100 million plus shoe deal, just because some kid decided to attend KU. I'm afraid that is not how the shoe game works.

Chaundee Brown/ Andrew Jones • Dec 15, 2015 04:11 PM

@JayHawkFanToo

all I know without hiring a detective to delve in Wiggins life, is that all I heard and read was he a had a contract waiting be signed with Adidas before he came to KU. And a big one too.

Maybe he did wear some Nike gear growing up, but somewhere along the way he became an Adidas kid, and it was before he came to KU.

Chaundee Brown/ Andrew Jones • Dec 15, 2015 03:31 AM

@Crimsonorblue22

Sorry I had a important phone call but went back and ended my comment. Yet you hit on a point that I'm not sure you know you hit on. Nike owns the kids state side yet for some reason Adidas owns kids coming from over seas.

I marvel at the talent KU has been getting and will continue to get from overseas.

Chaundee Brown/ Andrew Jones • Dec 15, 2015 03:07 AM

@jayballer54

Nike is the biggest shoe dealer in the US, and they put on most of the AUU tournaments that OAD kids play in. A lot of these kids already know where they are going long before they get to be a senior in High school. Nike makes it so.

In a way the kid really has no choice in the decision. (me talking) As they come from very poor families. An agent or runner knocks on the door with cash in hand. Kid takes the cash to help out his mother and siblings. And then they belong to Nike.

It in a nut shell it's about the shoe deal if any of these kids hit it big. Remember when Wiggins was associated with Adidas even before going to college? How shocked was everybody when Wiggins signed with KU and Adidas school? How shocked were any of us when Wiggins signed a shoe deal with Adidas after he went pro?

Nike is king and they hedge their bets by throwing money at many kids hoping one or two make it big. If they do Nike adds to the empire, as it is mere chump change to persuade these kids into the Nike way and a Nike school.

Does KU pass the eye test so far? • Dec 15, 2015 02:44 AM

@BeddieKU23

I don't know if KU is the best team or not? Yet I know this when KU pushes the pace and plays their game their going to be hard to beat.

I've noticed yet have no facts to back it up. Yet when KU goes to the Midrange jumper they seem to catch fire?

Has anybody else noticed this?

Chaundee Brown/ Andrew Jones • Dec 15, 2015 12:03 AM

@jayballer54

I'm kind of wandering if Coach is taking a step back from the OAD circus. Maybe he want's to recruit great talent but talent that needs a couple years to develop?

I don't know just throwing it out there.

@wrwlumpy

Thank you for taking time to give us Jayhawks fans not only a look at the team they are playing but all the extras too. I rather enjoy it.

Diallo and Bragg = NC Next Season? • Dec 14, 2015 11:50 PM

@Hawk8086

It's ok my friend I was just pulling your chain a little.

Diallo and Bragg = NC Next Season? • Dec 14, 2015 01:56 PM

@Hawk8086

An neither is winning 11 conference championships, yet KU has done it.

It must a bummer to sit there and watch a KU game fully believing that Selden is going to miss, because the so called law of averages say he must. I kind of like the idea of believing every time he lets it fly it's going in.

But hey that's just me. :astonished:

@wissoxfan83

All I can tell ya is Coach was pissed. :rage:

I damn near chucked the watch if he would caught it when it broke.

Diallo and Bragg = NC Next Season? • Dec 14, 2015 07:51 AM

@benshawks08

Why does Selden's 3 ball have to come back to earth? And everybody acts like I'm doom and gloom.

Pondering the meaning of UA display • Dec 14, 2015 07:47 AM

@ralster

You maybe just stirring the pot, but there might be more to story than we know.

Think about it. If you're a coach and adidas or Nike is paying the bills are you going to wear another competitors sports gear?

I didn't see it but if it is true Coach was wearing Under Armorer gear. Wow! This could be something big or just a mistake on Coach's part. Either way I bet coach gets a conference call on this. If he did indeed wear a UA gear.

I could get the conspiracy machine going but I'm not sure anybody wants to hear. :shit:

Pondering the meaning of UA display • Dec 14, 2015 04:34 AM

@jaybate-1.0

I"ve been thinking the same thing.

Ok I know it seems like I'm being a downer after another KU win. Especially after KU and coach righted the ship and just the blew the doors of the Beavers in that second half.

However I'm pushing for the KU bigs to hang out with the """""Final 4 KU volley ball team"""""".

As I believe it would help the C5 learn HOW TO DUNK. How many bunnies can one team miss? If the c5 would just dunk or finish at the rim like the volleyball team finishes at the net, then Jayhawk nation would be in perfect harmony.

Other than that Rock Chalk.

Wow not looking good. KU needs to get out and run.

Hey KU just made sports center.

Oregon State vs Kansas chat • Dec 13, 2015 01:52 AM

Don't be fooled but that was nothing but fools gold. Wonder why KU has only shot 2 3's all night? Think maybe coach should run something to get our 3 machine up and going.

Oregon State vs Kansas chat • Dec 13, 2015 01:40 AM

God I miss TRob. They have to change the rims after all the dunks he would already have.

Too many believe in Fools Gold • Dec 12, 2015 05:44 PM

@SoftballDad2011

Coach really has underachieved ↗

And it's not just the losing but how they lose, that has a lot KU fans voicing there displeasure.

Too many believe in Fools Gold • Dec 12, 2015 05:29 PM

@Lulufulu

I like where you're going. So far KU has been shooting the three in the flow of the game. What would happen if coach started X/Oing the three shot?

ISU getting whipped at home • Dec 12, 2015 07:03 AM

@Hawk8086

I don't know? How many times when KU loses does the opposing team storm the court. UM like every time. I know you see it as pouring salt in the wound. Yet I don't. I see it as a program that thought they had no shot in hell in beating KU, that they can't contain themselves when it does happen.

Really it's almost like a respect thing. I just wish there was a way to get the KU players off the court in those rare occasions before it happens.

Too many believe in Fools Gold • Dec 12, 2015 06:49 AM

In the relocation of many KU fans minds. KU shoots the three good one night and the next it doesn't. The conclusion It's risky to depend on the 3 as a solid contributor on offense. Yet what if it wasn't?

For a solid decade coach and KU have played a extreme high/low. Not a bad thing by any means. Except one thing to play Coach's high/low you have to have a 4 that can pass the ball, and a five that can bang.

Last year's team had neither. Yet Coach played bad ball, and KU was able to win a conference championship, before making a quick exit from the tournament as usual. Do any KU fans really want to see bad ball played for entire season because they the 3 is to risky to depend on?

Are we as fans to say no lets pound the ball inside no matter what because we fear one damn night the KU shooters won't be firing on all cylinders?

It has been said by many on @KUbucket and the national media that this is coach's best shooting team he has ever had.

But hey lets don't shoot the 3 for fear one night the shots won't fall. Well you know what? Even in the glory days of Coach's High/low the easy two didn't fall and didn't work.

Crystal Ball • Dec 12, 2015 06:13 AM

Could it be that coach opening up and letting the boys play might be swaying some of these numbers?

@jaybate-1.0

First I faved you because I respect your knowledge of the game.

You are correct about the Wizard, yet here is one thing you forget about the Wizard. He didn't worry about what the opponent was doing. He didn't change his game plan because he was playing this team or that one. He was going run his stuff. The Wizard was a bit before my time but it seems to me he wasn't a close minded person. In that he adjusted his plan to the players strengths that played for him.

Me personally I'm starting to believe Coach has opened his mind to that truth after the MSU game. That doesn't mean the high/low is going away. Why should it? It's one of the best offense schemes out there. It's just coach realizes that he can't run it the way he wants.

@jaybate-1.0 I don't know how you feel about me or think of me, but understand this. Coach has dominated the regular season in college basketball. So I say why cant he be the next Wizard and dominate the post season too?

Me personally I know he can. Especially after how he has changed some things after that MSU game. MSU didn't win that game KU lost it, and coach knows it

@JayHawkFanToo

Yea but UK doesn't have the shooters KU does. Also as for the Clones they pushed the pace of the game. This is what I've been saying from the beginning. Sure there will be nights when the shots won't fall, but you know what? This current KU team looks just as bad trying to pound the ball inside. Just look at last year. Need I say more?

Yet when KU gets out and run they are very hard to beat. Just look at the WUG's. There were nights were KU wasn't hitting the shots but it was them pushing the pace that won the WUG's.

It wasn't pounding the ball inside.

ISU getting whipped at home • Dec 11, 2015 11:54 PM

Court storming is a mixed bag for me. If there was a way to get the opposing team off the court before the storming starts I say let it happen.

The whole argument of act like you been there before seems a little hollow to me. Because if they had been there before they wouldn't be storming the court.

I can remember a few times when KU football posted big W and the fans stormed the field and tore down the goal posts.

I think that is the thing the college game can invoke that the Pro games can't. That connection, that passion, that love. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying there isn't passion in the Pro games. It's just different.

ISU getting whipped at home • Dec 11, 2015 11:34 PM

@jayballer54

As a person that knows a little about the state of Iowa. You have to understand Iowa st. beating Iowa is a big thing. These two schools compete very hard against each other. Unlike in Kansas where KU dominates the basketball scene and the Wildcats dominate the football scene. In Iowa the games are dog fights. Football and Basketball.

I'm telling you man I deer hunt in Iowa and even if one team is having a down year they go have after each other.

I'm not sure I'm intelligent enough to get into this conversation.

Yet the Wizard once said,

"I'd rather have a lot of talent and a little experience than a lot of experience and a little talent."

The game of basketball isn't rocket science boys.

I would also like to add when KU plays that talented team that decides to focus on shutting down the 3 ball? Well then coach will be able to run is High/low to perfection. As the opposing team will have to put so much effort in stopping the 3, thereby leaving the paint open for the C5 to feast.

I guess my logic is that on most occasions a team on average has 1 maybe 2 players that can really shoot a 3 for a high average.

Yet as @BeddieKU23 pointed out we have 4 in Mason, Selden, Graham, and Greene. That doesn't include SVI or Perry.

Logic being sure a shooter can go cold but pure numbers meaning shooters in this case should overcome when a Selden isn't quite feeling it. What I also like is that this KU team just doesn't chuck 3's to shoot 3's. The majority of 3's taking by KU are indeed in the flow of the game and good shots.

However as @HighEliteMajor pointed out it's not just about just shooting the three, yet the pace with which KU plays is the determining factor. KU pushing the ball has shown they are tough to beat, because even when the shots aren't falling they can weather the storm until they do. I'm also a firm believer that our bigs play better and have better games when KU pushes the pace. For some reason when coach slows the game down and wants to go inside KU struggles.

The three is no gimmick offense weapon. Used properly and there is no defense.

@jaybate-1.0

Ok, "Even though I can see sounds and hears colors, no team in the history of basketball has averaged 50-60% from trey. God is my co-pilot, not kool aid."

Um, @jaybate-1.0 "God just told me all things are possible with him."

Is it really that impossible to think that a team can shoot 50-60% trey? I'm not saying KU will but geez you act like the sky is falling because KU is shooting the ball so well. Like somehow the bottom is going to fall out or something. Problem is @jaybate-1.0 KU can't play the high/low as they don't a big that can score with his back to the basket. I don't know maybe Diallo in time can learn but he's already lost so much time because of the stupid NCAA suspension.

NBA shooting threes ↗

You see two NBA teams shooting over 40%, and so many more are close.

These kids can shoot ↗

This one should open you're eyes? As the amount of kids that are shooting over 40% from three land.

So you see KU shooting 50% from trey land isn't as farfetched as one might thing. An incredible feat yes but not impossible.

@jaybate-1.0

Get used to KU shooting lights out. As they are indeed a great shooting team.

Post Game, Thoughts • Dec 10, 2015 04:31 PM

@jayballer54

I kind of like the boys trying to jump the passing lanes. Sure they will get burnt here and there, but how many will they get?

@jaybate-1.0

I'm not saying KU should become the old Billy Tubbs OU teams. However for this year the talent and what the Kids are good at are shooting and running. So why not play to their strengths?

I have to disagree that this Year's KU team can play the High/low and grind wins out. As in the two games that I seen where coach brought the game plan to a stop and went inside exclusively. KU lost one and damn near lost the other one. And not even talk about what happened last year.

@jaybate-1.0 I understand where you're coming from. You're a bit like coach. In then that you like a grind game. You want to see a border line fist fight in the paint. You want the game in the 60's.

Just remember there are many ways to play the game. This KU team plays better fast, This team plays better when they take the low % midrange jump shot. The team plays better when they can fire away from 3 land.

Next years team maybe different and require a different approach. Yet for now this team is it's best when they run.

And I say lets let them run.

@jaybate-1.0

Shooting the three only has a small part in running fast.

This team should shoot the three until it's heart is content no matter what offense Coach wants to run.

It's obvious they can shoot. Yet this KU team plays better when they run and I mean push the tempo. Even our bigs play better. It's not even debatable.

Post Game, Thoughts • Dec 10, 2015 05:52 AM

@jayballer54

Hunter was less than impressive ??? Hunter played better defense than both Lucas and Traylor combined.

And the last time I looked at the stat sheets Lucas and Traylor weren't exactly lighting it up on the PPG.

@jaybate-1.0

Sorry my friend for my rudeness. Yet this KU team doesn't have to play muscle ball to win. With this team those days are over. They can run and shoot. They also create havoc on the defense side of the ball. The key is numbers.

I say play them all.

@jaybate-1.0

Sorry my friend but blow it out your you know what. With the C3 as you call it? The game was played faster and at a more frantic pace. Which favors a more talented team. UMMMM KU. Face reality there is no big on this team that can play Coach's patented high/low. Please name one? In order for this team to reach it's goals of a conference championship and a national Championship that have to play fast. The last two games should enlighten you? Verses Harvard Coach played Landen and Traylor trying to run his high/low. KU almost lost. The game tonight Coach doesn't play Landon and Traylor and lets his team run and they win by 30. I think that says it all.

Sorry my friend but thug/okie ball is dead. If KU plays thug/okie ball they lose. Or bad ball.
