A big thank you to @KUSTEVE. I don't get Espn 3 Yet I'm watching the game because of his link. Thank you sir.
Coach letting the boys play. I'm happy.
I was very high on Conner. I was sad to see him go, yet I understand why he did. Even with his herculean effort in the tournament Coach was going to kick him to the bench.
LOL
Do you mean the realist?
I just want to apologize to you for firing on you even though you may have not have deserved it. Yet I'm tired of KU fans that question coach this year being label haters.
I don't hate Coach and I don't hate Landon, and I don't hate Traylor. Yet I do love the Jayhawks. So yes I'm not happy with Coach.
So forgive me and take my comments for what they are worth.
Nah not whining. Just know talent when I see it. Not playing the likes of Bragg and Diallo only delays the learning curve.
If coach can't play Bragg and Diallo against the likes of Harvard? Then will they play?
If Coach can't play Diallo and Bragg against the likes of Harvard, then when will they play?
OK Do you think coach is letting KU play like he did in the WUG? Do you think coach let KU play in the MSU game? Do you think Coach let KU play in the Harvard game? NO in both these games coach reverted back to his High/low. Which by the way were the lowest output on offense for the season.
Come on I've explained my position very clearly. You must have an axe to grind.
Maybe Bragg and Diallo could be better in mere weeks if they got the playing time? It's been my experience the only way to get better is to play. Alas I guess will have to wait until conference play is almost over before these two actually get to play. Then coach will have a short leash on them. Please do tell me again how KU is going to win a NC with Laden and Traylor manning the paint? I need some Kool-Aid to drink.
So you're going to make the case that Landon and Traylor should start over and play more minutes than Bragg and Diallo?
No serious question? Please do tell, because I've yet to hear a point view that has changed my mind that Bragg and Diallo shouldn't garner the most minutes to play along side the designer.
Yet then again what do I know as I don't attend practices and don't coach the game. I'm just that fan that has no right to an opinion even though I watch ever game I can and even pay money to watch those games.
Interesting that KU is ranked #2 in the AP poll, yet just #7 in the coaches poll.
What do the coaches know that the AP doesn't?
I can't say it any better than @justanotherfan.
My heart couldn't take that many close games. I would have a heart attack before the season made it to that would be championship.
Hey it would be one way of getting rid of me though. :mask:
Well doesn't that kind of land into my point? We know what this team can do when coach lets them run and gun. We also know how bad this team struggles when coach tries to slow down the game and run his high/low.
I think this KU team can be awesome. Question is will coach play to their strengths?
Coach is not a dumb person by any means. It's like you, like me or anybody we have a certain way of doing things. Yet even if someone shows a better way we tend want to stick you our way.
Coach maybe a legend in the making yet he is still human. and not is immune to his human nature.
Coach cut his teeth on the High/low. He has won with the high/low. He's not going to let go of the high/low very easily. It's all he's ever known.
Think about it if fans average humans beings that don't attend practices, and spend no time in the gym with the players can figure out what your trying to do on offense. Can come to the conclusion you don't have the players to run it. What do you think an opposing Coach knows and is thinking?
Well if KU is going to play the C5, then coach needs to play the parts of C5 that can actually put the ball in the hoop the most minutes.
I don't care how great your defense is if you can't score then you'll lose.
What is there really to learn with this team? This is basically the same team from last year, with the exception of Diallo and Bragg. Yet we already have seen they'll be riding the pine when the game is on the line.
I don't think you quite understand where I'm coming from? I totally believe this team has what it takes to win both a conference championship and a National championship. I'll take it a step further and say this team could become one of the all time greats. This team can flat out shoot. The team isn't the problem.
Coach has to decide if he is going to play to his teams strength or force his high/low on a team that struggles every time they run it. All we have to do is rewind the clock to last year. It's not a mystery and there really is nothing to learn.
This team plays best when they run and gun. This team struggles when trying to play the high/low. The numbers don't lie.
Problem is the game is rigged. Diallo, Bragg, or Hunter make a mistake and they are riding the pine. Yet Landon and Traylor can play 20 mins a piece and only score a couple of baskets.
Can't wait for Houston to get back.
First understand all true Jayhawk fans love Coach.
Here is the problem. Coach has recruited a team that runs and guns. They play fast they shoot midrange jumpers. They rain shots from three land. They desire to harass you on the defense side of the ball. They want to push the ball when there is no reason to push the ball. They want to take the open shots. They want to run and run and run and run.
Coach wants to slow down the game. Coach wants to play great defense. Coach wants to run the shot clock down. Coach wants the first or second pass to go inside. Coach would rather see a big score a 2 or 3 foot contested two, than an easy three. Coach would rather see a game played and won in the 60's than to see a blow out.
The real problem is Coach recruited a team that can't play his style of game. Coach has nobody to blame but himself.
Bottom line
If Coach forces his will KU maybe wins another Conference Championship, and bows out in the second or third round of the tournament.
If Coach embraces his current team and plays to their strength. A Conference Championship is a giving, and at the very least a final 4 run happens. Yet my gut says KU and coach cut down the big nets.
Ah man getting back in hot water here.
As @JayHawkFanToo said, "Coach gets paid to win" not in those exact words. but still the same.
Yet that is the problem. Having Diallo and Bragg on the bench during crunch time during worthless games does KU no good. It doesn't prepare them for March or even Conference play.
So every time the game gets tight Diallo and Bragg go to the bench? These two are easily our best bigs. Yet how are they supposed to learn and get experience when the game is on the line. Besides Landon isn't going to win KU a game, and neither is Tralyor. They are what they are, nice role players. No shame in that.
Sadly I guess most Jayhawk fans are content on winning Big 12 conference championships, and just rolling the dice come tournament time.
Ah come on. It's going to take Coach a little while to fully embrace fools gold as a viable offense system. He's been slowing down the game and pounding the ball inside for a very long time. In an essence this is all new to him.
I guess my biggest gripe about the Harvard game is Coach's unyielding belief that the upper classman must play the majority of minutes in tough games.
You'll have to clarify? I'm interested.
No I didn't know that. Yet a hip injury would hurt any persons game.
Perry is a in the flow kind of player as most of the KU players are. Not sure why? Yet as we have seen this year when KU forces the pace and plays to the flow of their game the offense numbers are crazy. Yet when KU is forced to grind out a high/low offense they struggle.
I appreciate that Coach is letting the boys shoot the three, yet I would love for him start scheming for the 3 land shot. I feel Perry and the bigs play way better when KU is dropping bombs from the outside.
I'm not one for making excuses. Yet I think you have a point on the travel thing. It is often believed and even acknowledge by Vegas betters that a team traveling from one coast to the other is at a disadvantage just of the travel.
To be fair I did say I thought the Big 12 was pretty good. The Big 12 gets no love as it doesn't do very well in the tournament.
Ball game. Alright Rock Chalk.
See you Gal and guys next time.
KU hits their free throws coming down the stretch. I believe, I believe, I believe.
Its starting to rain in the PHog.
KU goes on a run. I'm calling it.
Maybe we should start the conversation on how great this Harvard team is?
I just want to rip my eyes out.
Welcome to Bad Ball.
KU needs to get out and run
I hope you're right as I'm getting tired of losing to MSU.
I'm hopeful. You don't have to be a coach or an expert on the game of basketball to see that coach was being stubborn in how he wanted to run his offense. I'm hopeful because it seems Coach is reinventing himself, and running an offense that focuses on the three, thereby playing to the strength of his team. Losing is part of life, Yet how we lose is what we should focus on. Like why Coach underperforms in the tournament.
Yet it seems by some we can't have that conversation, because we as KU fans are never to question King Self. And if we do we are lunatics.
I too want Coach on the bench, but I also don't want to wait another 20 years for a championship either.
Factual obstacles are one thing but making excuse is another. If the allied forces made excuses we'd all be speaking German.
Besides we are talking about KU here. It's not like the roster doesn't have some very fine players.
I too have wandered what Coach would do with a OAD point guard.
Is Greene off suspension?
Yea I would agree to a point that a #1 seed doesn't always win the whole thing. Yet would you agree that a #1 seed should at the very least make it to the final 4?
You don't think I dream about coach getting the kind of talent that Duke and UK get? Oh yea, yes I do. I'm not Bill Self hater by any means.. Yet it seems to be we KU fans are always making excuse come tournament time.
Reality KU and coach are not a Nike school or coach.
Reality KU doesn't play in a great basketball conference (I don't think that it's that bad myself).
Reality KU has under achieved in the tournament.
Reality it's time to put up or shut up
Yet none of this really matters to me right now. I only engaged you and @SoftballDad2011 as you two seemed to mock and pass off those who were questioning whether coach should still be coach as lunacy and lunatic's. And @dylans thought of, well if you know so much why aren't you coaching. Are you serious ???
To be honest after the MSU game I was hurt as a KU fan. Mad and sad as all be all. If felt worse than some of our early exits in the tournament. Yea I was questioning whether the game was passing Coach by. It doesn't mean I'm a hater. I just care about MY JAYHAWKS.
Besides Coach has reinvented himself after that MSU game and has me believing again that this could be the year that Coach and KU bring home the trophy.
That is a very good point. I'll have to think about that one. Even now I'm like damn good point. Give me some time to think about that one. Yet even now I think you might have something.
I totally agree another National championship and all arguments become mute. Yet the fact remains as great as Coach has been in the regular season he has been just as bad in the tournament.
I mean ask yourself this question how many times has KU under Coach lost when they were the higher seed?
I love Coach and want him to succeed, and for the most part he has. Yet his tournament record isn't nothing to forget. After all KU is labeled as chokers in the tournament. That's just not an opinion that's just facts.
I for one is hoping Coach turns the table this year. I really do.
As I'm perplexed as a KU fan. Take me for what I'm worth. Which isn't much.
um Coach lost to MSU and Ratso. Not going to happen. Though I think you're right. not going to happen.
Be careful when you set a trap? The hunted might just be the hunter.
@SoftballDad2011 and @jaybate-1.0
Yea Coach rocks it in the regular season nobody can deny. Yet in the tournament Coach is nothing but average.
That my friends is just a fact. Yet I get it. Winning conference championships is more important than winning national championships.
And for some reason according to you two? The measuring stick is MSU? Not sure why but ok I always thought KU was the standard, but after reading your posts it seems KU has to measure up to MSU?
I'll go on record as saying MSU didn't win that game but KU lost it because our coach didn't play to his teams strengths. Not that it will matter to you two. As MSU seems to be the standard.
You would be correct there was indeed to much of a knee jerk reaction.
Though you have to admit that MSU game really hurt Jayhawk nation. It wasn't that KU lost it was how they lost that stirred the pot. It was like watching last year play out all over again.
Yet it's all water under the bridge. As Coach has righted the ship and is playing to his teams strengths, and has given Jayhawk fans hope that this could be indeed a special season.
Lets hope coach stays the course with this team, and does something magical.
I don't think @kubuckets has a lot of trolls.
Some KU fans are happy with conference championships and some want National championships.
Some trust in Coach and some question what he's doing.
Coach has righted this ship and is coaching a good game. Yet I must warn those that are beating your chest and mocking those that maybe thought the game might be passing Coach by. KU hasn't made it to conference play yet, let alone the tournament.
KU is winning and making big strides because Coach is going against his very nature. Yet don't think Coach has giving up on his addiction of pounding the ball inside. Old habits die hard.
However I will say this about Coach he has done the right thing despite what he might have wanted to do.
I guess that is why he is HOF kind of stuff. Maybe in time he'll become legendary?
