@wissox @nuleafjhawk I hit a bit of a block on old great broadcasters after I was well into my post. I nearly said Cosell, but many found him annoying too (I liked him, pompous arrogance and all). Al is welcome to join the bind-the mouth mob.
@drgnslayr @jaybate-1-0 Svi and Devonte eradicated their length by shooting and canning NBA 3s. Most D1 guards can't do it, and of course the Orange knuckleheads could not adjust. They inched out a bit at top of key but then DG got it to Vick. Our range and accuracy did them in, Newman not withstanding. They were totally unprepared to address guards with our range and passing ability.
Move ball to open spot (near or far); shoot with no one within 3 feet; can shot; make cool celebratory gesture. Repeat. Simple as putting the old volleyball in the peach basket.
@nuleafjhawk I have this dream where Vin Scully, Curt Gowdy, and Keith Jackson show up during the broadcast of the Duke-UNC game, slap duct tape over his mouth, bind him, and take him away to the Horrid Broadcasters Dungeon to rot in abject SILENCE! for the rest of his days.
@wissox And when we brought in our walk on who possesses basketball fundamentals and actually knows how to play the game (unlike their chuckers), dicky v never said a word. Nor did the idiot announcers mention we went on a big run with our walk on on the floor, out scoring them by 9 while Clay was in the game outperforming their trees. We all know he was a guard right and he is playing out of position and killing it! How about you mention that dicky you ignoramous.
@jaybate-1-0 Can you imagine if Boeheim had half a brain and did some iso posts with young guarding a 6-10 guy? With Clay on the floor we outscored the orange by 9! We struggled to get a couple boards but that was it. Their players were uber long and uber athletic but have zero BBall IQ...lets chuck another contested three and not take it inside against their midgets! I was surprised at how bad they were.
Svi: the time with Hudy has paid off. He got several 50/50s and boards because he was just stronger and could not Be shoved off his spot.
Garrett/Dok: MG did have several lock Down moments on D and a number of good block outs I noticed...things Dok cannot do very consistently. Garret plays smart on D and was more valuable than Malik in that respect.
Malik: with him offering nothing on O he did at least have one nice stick back. He is not showing me much. I was surprised we could win handily w/o him scoring double digits. Needs to drive it.
Vick: love the nickname, it is perfect. He may have more killer instinct than Keith Langford and he is more athletic. He is doing it all. The oop was nasty!!!
Davonte: keep this up and we may have b2b NPOY on our hands. On a night were it could have tuned into one of those 2-23 nights from 3 after our slow start, he just refused to see us lose a game we should never lose even tho we have no bigs. I really thought he was gonna get 40.
We have also had several not playwho went through camp so i think self and Devonte making sure chemisty is happening is more critical. The boys may all rally around the cool dude fron the football team too.

Seems like the type that does not have the frame to ever be a 4. But his shooting touch is nice and he is doing decent with rim protection. Svi light(foot)?
@wissox Sosinski talk popped up again on kusports. Says he has practiced with team a couple times to gauge ability. Billy issue could be worse than we thought.
@jaybate-1-0 I got to watch most of the Duke vs. TX game and Texas bigs would eat Mitch alive if left in there alone. They are long, athletic, and built like men. The white guy is a load but also mobile. Can drive it and finish with either hand. Good post moves. No chance Mitch can hang with them. This is the Preston / Desousa dilemma.
Saving grace is they play horrific interior defense and our guards far out class TX guards. But the need for Silvio grows more critical every day.

He was horrible in the first half, missed easy shots, missed free throws, got controlled by our walk on and generally played egg laying bad. His points were meaningless in the 2nd half after down 30. He laid a big egg. Quit being the annoying crtiquer and go watch the game again. Proof that stats can be meaningless. Young was nails....played great for who he is and what he was asked to do. I'm sure you will say he played badly because he did not have flashy stats. Daum choked. Most useless double double this season.

The Doke post moves had to have the NBA scouts wetting themselves. They were legit, and better and more diverse than the "poor man's Larry Bird." Daum did lay an egg however...
@wissox @JayHawkFanToo @HawkChamp I am not young so I have despised Dv's announcing (read: inane yelling) for decades. And hold your hat but I am gonna agree with JHF2 here 😄. Has zero to do with him as a person, he is just a horrible announcer. Bilas is fair, knowledgeable, and articulate. Vitale is noise....and adds no substance. Man I miss bob and max. (Btw...I think Haney and Gurly are terrible too, so I cannot be accused of homerism on this one).
@cragarhawk I was telling friends before game if Malik plays well we win easy +10. If not then toss up. This before no Preston and shooting only like we do in E8 games. Malik was ave and being super short handed to win was ugly satisfying. No panic. A good coach would have fouled Doke out and beaten us by 25. Luckily they have the squid.
If Preston extracts head from arse and Silvio is eligible, then very positive. If we are relying on Mitch then not so much.

But he has to get touches down the stretch. Graham should know better. But also a two edged sword. If they feed him and he misses foul shots it could backfire.

Whitman killed us...flaked out and ran off Colby at the same time. DC would be played 17-20 min a game.

@KUSTEVE @mayjay My 4th grade teacher, who I really liked, was from the State of Confusion, or was it the State of Disarray?, said "warsh" for wash, along with mizzourah, to the impressionable 9 year olds trying to learn the complexities of the English language. He made up for it with other cool things he did, but I always found it odd they allowed him to speak improperly.
@mayjay all the marketing material we get (daily!) is in Spanish, so I guess change of name and language will solve their image issue. Consolidated cc is not much better on the service.

@dylans Now it is just a preseason game, and it is 2017, so DVR seems to be the ticket. However, we don't have stupid "spectrum" which evidently is Spanish for "Time Warner Cable" so I won't get to see it either way.
I believe they have diluted if to the point if you were an all American and/or on an NC team. Maybe if you have a sweet jump shot and you walk old ladies across the street that would be enough. I liked it better when there were set criteria. But I guess that is showing my age. The bar was really high before Roy tore it down to get his favorites up there. Used to be you had to be Mvp of the NC or NPOY or consensus all American. Does top 5 in scoring make you a rafters-worthy legend? Could mean you just shot a lot. Sheron was vital to the NC, but not sure about legend? How do you not include Russ Rob then? He was equally vital...but I don't think he should qualify for enshrinement .

@HighEliteMajor I hope you did not just compare a very talented Jayhawk hoops star to a surgeon of any stripe, and insinuate their pay and skill levels are anywhere near the same level. Even the best surgeons, at the best hospital in the region, where I work make no where near the obscene amounts of money the top athletes are making. And they actually provide a vital function to society, such as...oh, saving lives, as compared to what the elite athlete provides, such as...oh, a line of apparel and manipulating a ball in some impressive fashion. Surly you meant those with elite skills get paid handsomely, but only the top 1% of executives come close to equating the out of proportion wage that top athletes make. It is not about fairness, it about societal imbalance.
@mayjay It a conundrum. I love sports, love jojo. But I am becoming more and more uncomfortable with what all pro athletes are making. This is just one of the more ludicrous examples. His agent is a genius. Alex Gordon making 72M is another example.
Yes, the owners are fools for paying it, but where do they get most of their money for these contracts?
We could probably end hunger, at least in America, if we paid athletes a reasonable wage and used the rest for good.

My daughter and I were planning on going. When she heard who was performing she changed her mind and wanted no part. Sad because she is a HS senior and this will be our last chance to go in a while (she will be going to college in Boston or CA next fall). Every song on Spotify of his is labled "explicit?" Guess I'll be watching the royals instead.
