@HighEliteMajor I agree 100%. So far, Devonte has had an underwhelming year and he gets mentioned frequently in the media due to his performances last year. If he wants to play in the NBA next year, he needs to step it up from a leadership perspective as well as ball handling and play making.

@JayHawkFanToo I think there is truth to that. They can only play hard defense for stretches and not for the whole game in order to still have legs for offense. As long as they win, I don't care how they do it.

@Crimsonorblue22 yes, I had bronchitis for several weeks last year - I am quite aware. I was referring to the common "hes tired" excuse.

@kjayhawks the pressure is on us to keep the streak alive. No one else is expected to do it - they want to win it just as much as we do, but there are no expectations.

Yes I think we win tomorrow - this is a big game and Self will have them ready. Josh has improved his jumper and his free throws are sure to follow. I still have the same question about Carlton - what is his role? Is it to pass the ball around the perimeter? If it is, he is doing great. Like I have been saying, we are doing nothing to isolate him and put him in a scoring position.

I think Frank is sick. With the rest he had this past week, no reason he should be tired. I mean, if he's still tired Saturday after Monday, how in the world does he think he's going to make it in the pros? Conclusion - he's a little under the weather.

@jayballer54 yep very few really good defensive teams. Virginia and Villanova come to mind as teams that have defensive pride. Our guys can but they need to realize its importance.

@kjayhawks same thing happened last year - remember Devin Williams? Imo, too much is made of that. The perimeter players dont seem to care about defense.

@jayballer54 Spot on. Our guards obviously dont care about staying in front of their man. Its as though they only care about playing offense - they have to learn to do both which is certainly possible.

@kjayhawks Im not worried about their press - we seemed to handle it fine at Morgantown. Not getting outhustled and smart decisions will decide this game.

@drgnslayr as well as against Baylor. 2-0 this week would basically lock up no. 13 and a 1 seed. The short turnaround will be tough but get the W and have a few days rest for Baylor.

I really dont know what the team talks about, but there are numerous issues with their defense and that is inexcusable for a veteran team. I dont buy that "its the refs, its the refs" or "we dont have a shot blocker". Opponents are cutting back door, getting into the lane and constantly shooting wide open shots. It looks like everyone has regressed from last year. In general, I agree with Beddie - it seems as though our guys get outhustled almost every game.

Btw, does Devonte not know that he can dribble drive? All he wants to do is shoot.

The only positive I see is that this team has not yet played its best for over twenty minutes in a game at any point this year. Youd have to think that at some point soon we will see them put it all together.

@BeddieKU23 I disagree - I like to see where teams are getting close to March. I dont know why some are salty about this. BTW, the Big ten is really weak this year compared to the last few years, so no surprise that no teams were in there - maybe you could put Wisconsin in there but thats it.

@Crimsonorblue22 they really took it to Xavier - haven't been impressed by them though. Definitely not a top ten team - not sure if they are even a top 25 team.

Anyone watching Gonzaga? Seems like St. Mary's would greatly benefit from going zone - they have been getting destroyed all game inside.

Isnt it amazing that on the road and bad refs that KU can withstand multiple players having career days while having the NPOY plays sick and the rest of the team playing like crap and we still win?

This feels like a loss with this effort

This is not the same defensive effort we saw on Monday. Except for Josh, everyone else has been very mediocre.

They just dont care about playing defense. They are going down this afternoon.
