Carlton with a miss on the post move but I like his aggressiveness the last few possessions.
@globaljaybird no the post move and the score
This team continues to refuse to lock down defensively for longer stretches.
Man that was a strong move by bragg
@DCHawker true but he still makes the stupid jumping pass out of the wing. That keeps costing us
Man, leaving a lot of points on the floor.
@kjayhawks and even that team gave up a 28 point lead.
@BShark but look at the numbers. When we stopped playing and focused instead on the concession stand food, that is when they started scoring. Our guys control that because of their defense, not the other way around
@globaljaybird but there is no reason to lose AGAIN to them. This year would make it four in a row. We have more talent, better shooters, and plenty of experience against their press.
@kjayhawks well, again our guys decided the game was over and just didn't care to finish the half. That attitude is frustrating to behold. The difference was night and day
@RockChalkinTexas well, I don't know what is going on but his post game sucks right now. Someone has to be accountable for that
@BShark they were not amped up to play oU. They are always ready to play us
Does anyone know if the staff works with Bragg on post moves? He acts like he has never done it before.
Good thing we didn't play west Virginia today - it would be ugly
@BShark he needs better spacing and positioning to score.
Bragg soft again. Sigh
@globaljaybird great post man.
@BShark one on one in the post is a difficult guard for just about every big in the country. Hicks and Meeks get scored on also. Unless you have Wilt or the Unibrow, it is going to be tough.
@DCHawker no, we haven't been able to contain dribble penetration all year - bigs scoring is a result of penetration.
@stoptheflop again, what do they think they are going to do on Tuesday against real pressure. For supposedly being experienced upperclassmen, they sure don't look the part.
@BShark are they incapable of staying focused for even ten minutes of a half? That can't be true, can it?
@DCHawker that is what is frustrating about this team. Most of the time, they look like they don't care and sloppiness results.
Bragg being a little baby with the ball.
@bskeet very frustrating
Where did the focus go?
Man this team can play so well and so bad
Frank should know not to do that
@BShark yep. Everyone has to be able to play that way
Need to amp up the defensive pressure again.
@BeddieKU23 yep losing focus.
Very solid start. Good focus
@drgnslayr so you think Devonte stays?
@jaybate-1.0 uh, I know what happened because I watched the game and have re watched it many times. I was going along with your hypothetical scenario. You say we don't win without Cole, I say we do. Agree to disagree.
@jaybate-1.0 as I said, that team was so good and ready to play they would have smoked Carolina regardless. No one is saying grooming a top recruit like Cole is bad - those decisions aren't up to me or anyone here and I'm not responsible for it. This year's team doesn't have that so wishing for it does nothing for us.
@Lulufulu no, I think he was saying Cole was an important piece. The truth is, that team would still have smacked Carolina without Cole.
@JayHawkFanToo thanks for providing the minutes.
@jaybate-1.0 dude, there aren't many guys like that. Maybe TJ Leaf? Hes not a banger inside and prefers the perimeter. Justin Jackson? Probably not - hes a perimeter player. So you see, there is no Kevin Durant or Michael Beasely to worry about. I've watched a lot of basketball this season and I don't recall a guy like that that could effectively guard Josh thirty feet from the basket. Isaiah Hicks MIGHT be quick enough, but I wouldn't bet on it. Fortunately, we probably wouldn't see UCLA or UNC before the final four.
You say what Self is doing is genius - maybe but do you remember Nova last year? We are almost an identical team. The recent UConn championship teams and Michigan in 2013 are also very similar to us, so clearly other teams have done well in similar circumstances.
Also, Cole was a big boost in San Antonio, but he wasn't the reason we beat Roy if that is what you are implying.
@dylans excellent point.
@JayHawkFanToo and that's why computer rankings and systems are pure bull when it comes to predicting games. It does not account for a random guy getting a career night or a team that just has a bad game.
@Lulufulu UK isn't a conference game, so we have a chance of staying undefeated if we can eek one out at Morgantown.
@BShark I agree
@kjayhawks that loss is looking worse and worse every day. Thanks a lot Loosiers
@jayballer54 thats not a gimme game either
Jayhawk nation thanks you Lon and company!!!
Put them ahead there. Might win it
@jayhawk-007 good post. There definitely was a little more urgency on defense and we made them work and labor for every basket. Sign of improvement.
@Crimsonorblue22 yes they have had less practice time to accommodate for the slim rotation.
Great topic. It does seem logical to not use amps or get the guys "hyped up" for a home game against Texas or Oklahoma State. Most of our games will have to be grind it out style games due to the short bench, just like in 2012, with the occasional up tempo hype up game. No need to use too much energy for this Saturday against Texas then rest up for the trip to Morgantown. That game will be very important because it is followed by Kentucky, and we don't want to go 0-2.
@drgnslayr the video they posted on cyfan called the legend of toupee bill is kind of funny.
@BShark same here. I love shutting up the cryclones, but is that the goal of the season? For them beating us is their championship, but we have much bigger goals that somewhat pertain to a particularly large city in Arizona. I am not going to buy some pom poms and parade down Massachusetts Street yelling Rock Chalk after we beat K State and Iowa State. Those wins, at least to me, are expected with a talented and veteran team that has a hall of fame coach on the sidelines.
