@Fightsongwriter Keegan said he bruised it which is consistent with what I have heard. Should rest him as much as possible Saturday
@drgnslayr thats actually a good point
@Crimsonorblue22 I think he had it taped last game also
@Crimsonorblue22 it didn't seem to hinder him at all.
@DoubleDD it's the silly mistakes that have to be shored up. It's amazing the mistakes that a veteran team is making. Winning at Ames, Manhattan and Morgantown proves their ability to win tough tournament games when a lot is riding on it. Last year, they lost at Ames, Morgantown and Stillwater and guess what? They lost in a close game to Nova. Those are the types of gutty wins they have to win.
I don't expect perfection of course, but I do want smart play which is the key to no13, a one seed and a final four.
@DoubleDD no I knew they could win and I said there was no reason to lose to them.
That said, I'm not going to get too excited, if at all, over a regular season win as I view tourney wins much higher and more rewarding.
@DoubleDD true, but playing in April is much better. I like it when we silence the cryclones, but a final four is the real deal.
@DoubleDD the scoreboard is important? Hmm...
Anyway, they have to realize how important not turning it over is.
I like the W but boy were our guys sloppy. What do they think they are going to do next week against West Virginia?
@ralster first key road game - W. Two to go
It's over
That's why free throws are so important
Frank still running and jumping well. Nothing serious maybe?
Beautiful drive by frank
@BShark he dunked it earlier. Dunking is legal now in basketball
Really soft move by Landen
Anyone know anything about Frank?
I really wish someone on the coaching staff would teach the jump stop. Svi could have used it there instead of making a tough pass
@stoptheflop needs to drive it more
Need to keep going inside every time. They can't stop us. No need to try to out shoot them - there are other games where that will be important but it isn't today
@Crimsonorblue22 yes all on Josh. Not the refs fault
Coach needs to tell Josh to calm down. That's another turnover
Seems to be running ok
@Crimsonorblue22 what specifically?
What's wrong with frank?
@BShark the key is speed and not letting him get hot from three
@Crimsonorblue22 yes
@BShark Josh and Svi would be better
@wissox he was fantastic
@BeddieKU23 agreed. They will probably try to double the post so our other guys will have to be ready
We have a monumental advantage inside. We need to drive it every time and get the ball into Landen.
Coach needs to tell JJ not to take any threes or long jumpers. Iowa State has zero inside game
Why is Bragg guarding Burton? Hes not nearly quick enough
Should go to Landen every time. Vick hustling
That's more like it
@globaljaybird not sure but about 420 were at KU
@BeddieKU23 for him, rebounding might be an effort thing
@Hawk8086 all I know is I wouldnt want 13 to come down to our last at oklahoma state. Seal it early and build a great resume for a one seed.
@BeddieKU23 I disagree. Is there any guarantee we are in KC with a two seed? Maybe, maybe not. I think all games matter including the opening loss to Indiana - hope that doesnt come back to bite us.
@Crimsonorblue22 wait what?
@BeddieKU23 yes but we dont have any chance for a one seed with five losses - MIGHT be able to get away with four. UCLA, Nova, UK and Gonzaga and going to end up with no more than three losses a piece. UCLA, UK and Gonzaga might not lose another game before the tournament because their conferences are weak. This does not look like a year a team can have more than four losses a get a top seed.
Dont look now but Higgins is reffing tonight.
@BShark eh, I dont know. The threads I have been reading were pretty grounded - some reminded me of our discussions here. Many of them are unhappy with Prohm
It will take a solid all around game to beat the cryclones tonight. The majority of their fans on cyclone fanatic think we are going to win after their loss to TCU. A solid start is important along with maintaining poise when Iowa State makes a run. Also cant have a 5 for 20 night from three and expect a W - 9 or 10 for 20 would do just fine.
In all actuality, this is a must win game, not only for no. 13 but for tournament seeding. A true road win against a top 50 team is very important for our success this year.
@Fightsongwriter for me, Chalmers, Robinson and Collins are the top tier. You could also put Tyshawn in that group. Until Frank and Devonte lead the team to the final four I think the others listed are in front of them, though Frank's numbers are sperlative.
@Texas-Hawk-10 but I just get the feeling that any game now things are going to start looking better. The short bench doesnt help, but that isnt causing the issues at hand. To me, it looks like our guys are saving their energy to play offense. I don't think any of them are that slow and incapable of putting together consecutive stops.
There was a discussion earlier about Nova and Duke and their depth. Basically, those teams had one more sub than us. But in crunch time who played? That's right, the starters. Is one more man really that significant though? I doubt it. If anything, the shorter practice times and other things Self said they were doing will counteract guys playing an extra two or three minutes per game. So I don't think the short bench is too much to worry about because we need as much cohesion as possible just like the 2012 team. The real issue is bench production.
@DCHawker you are right. The Indiana loss is not looking good right now. I dont think our expectations are misplaced. We have three starters and two main reserves from an elite eight team that was playing at a championship level. We have just as much, if not more, talent than everyone in our conference. Yes its hard to win on the road, but K state, Tech, and Iowa State do not have any distinct advantage over us. Tommorow night would be a great time for our guys to start playing like we know they are capable of.
@JayHawkFanToo excellent and spot on summation.
@ralster Its not really the post moves that are baffling with Bragg (he has scored on a few this season), it's the lack of attitude. View it this way - don't you think he would be more productive if he had a Marcus Morris type mentality? Not the trash talking but the toughness and tenacity required to play in the post.
It is clear that Bill has told him he is going to play the 5 and he is going to figure it out whether he wants to or not. Right now, he is a fish out of water. I'm hoping we start to see a Landen type end of the year with Bragg if he starts to settle in to his new role. It's possible.
@JayHawkFanToo I hope they get leaped over also.
