@Lulufulu your slogan is accurate - this team will start destroying opponents once their shooting averages out.

Ten Random thoughts on Siena • Nov 20, 2016 07:31 PM

@wissox I actually think that would be interesting to see how an intelligent poster would do. I obviously don't think anyone here would do as well as Self, but I think some here would be more open to trying something a little different and experimenting more.

Duke/Vitale wedding coming • Nov 20, 2016 07:27 PM

@jayballer54 yeah he is a cheerleader. Someone should hand him some pom poms!! You know, everyone (like Dickie V today) keeps talking about how Giles is going to play, but there is no timetable set and he has not played so far this year. Bolden and Tatum both played in the exhibitions, so they will be back. Giles is an unknown.

@kjayhawks I think Carlton and Udoka can do it, but they need more touches down there to work on it before March rolls around. Also disappointed that Self didn't play Udoka more - I know he didn't go after a rebound, but only playing him seven minutes is not helping us for March.

Shout Out to SVI! • Nov 19, 2016 06:17 PM

@drgnslayr I did see that! He has really put in a lot of work over the summer. The last couple years, I thought he was a little slow laterally. Now, its hard for guys to get around him. I really liked our defensive effort the last 7 minutes.

@drgnslayr playing him too much is on Bill. He is the one that has to rest him even if it means a closer game - the other guys will have to step up.

@Kcmatt7 that's exactly what North Carolina and Villanova did last year. Both were not great shooting teams until the tournament.

@Fightsongwriter that's the type of toughness and resolve that I love to see in players. JJ has some of that too, but he gets a little too excited at times to use it effectively; he'll get better as the season goes along.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 03:44 AM

@BShark and Villanova beat western Michigan by eleven the other day. Puts it in perspective

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:51 AM

Why can't we play with this focus all the time? The team from the last four minutes is a final four team

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:43 AM

Why can't we play with this type of effort all the time?

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:33 AM

Thing about it we are learning to win the hard way without making any outside shots

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:31 AM

Lucas playing good d here

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:29 AM

@Bwag maybe more shooting practice is in order?

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:27 AM

Man, some undisciplined basketball on display tonight. Oh boy

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:24 AM

Too much over help again!!! Come on!!!

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:15 AM

Who is guarding Wright? This is embarrassing

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:13 AM

There we go..keep getting Udoka the ball

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:12 AM

@BeddieKU23 Bill probably would think that is the easy way to defend it

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:11 AM

@stoptheflop hopefully similar to last year

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:11 AM

Mason with another three point miss

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 02:00 AM

@BShark Self said Udoka can, but why aren't we getting him the ball on the block?

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:57 AM

It's ok everbody, the guys are saving their best shooting games for the tournament like Nova and North Carolina last year

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:50 AM

Man Devonte has lost his shooting stroke. We would be 2-0 if we shot closer to last year's average.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:49 AM

Carlton has been very aggressive and looking to score. I like it

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:47 AM

@Bwag Frank and Devonte can shoot it better

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:45 AM

Carlton!!!

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:44 AM

Our defense has been subpar tonight. Got to have more focus.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:43 AM

Landon can't make a b2b move and Siena is scoring off of it. Can we do something better?

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:39 AM

Get the rebound!!!!

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:38 AM

Dok and landon?

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:35 AM

Hope JJ doesn't become frustrated by the refs.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:32 AM

These calls are stupid

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:31 AM

Nice aggressive move by Carlton!! He is starting to get more involved

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:28 AM

Josh!!!

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:22 AM

I like how the guys are looking to push the ball at every opportunity.

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:22 AM

Svi!!!

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:18 AM

Got it back now

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:18 AM

Does anyone else not have the game right now? My screen went black on the channel...

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:14 AM

I like the drive by Carlton. He needs to take that whenever he is one on one

KU Siena Game Thread • Nov 19, 2016 01:12 AM

Got to learn how to guard pick and rolls better

Austin Nichols Booted from UVA • Nov 18, 2016 11:24 PM

@BShark huge blow for Virginia.

Billy Preston Picks Kansas • Nov 18, 2016 10:46 PM

@BShark said:

ā€œI’m going to look into that,ā€ a chuckling Preston answered.

Wouldn't that be awesome! We are going to be thinner in the backcourt next year and we could use a tall, talented guard

Billy Preston Picks Kansas • Nov 18, 2016 10:26 PM

@wissox 6'10 power forward top 20 5 star. Has a good mid range jumper and is good at attacking the hoop. Experts say he is a good fit for Self's system.

Billy Preston Picks Kansas • Nov 18, 2016 10:18 PM

@approxinfinity Udoka is going to be dominant and a player of the year candidate next year. Contrary to my earlier feelings, we will have a really good team next year.

Billy Preston Picks Kansas • Nov 18, 2016 10:05 PM

Potential starting lineup next year - Dok, Billy, Svi, Lagerald and Devonte (I personally think Carlton will go because I would imagine Billy wants PT). That is a strong starting five.

Billy Preston Picks Kansas • Nov 18, 2016 10:00 PM

@Kcmatt7 we would be in great shape if Duval commits. There is also a decent chance either, Devonte, Carlton or Svi decide to stay. We would be loaded next year.

ESPN, Talking Heads • Nov 17, 2016 07:18 PM

@justanotherfan and @JayHawkFanToo I watched the entire UK-MSU game. It is clear that MSU is a different team than last year and will really struggle to score, especially if their three point shooting does not improve.

My thoughts on Kentucky -

How they score:
1. Transition (listed first for a reason)
2. Isaiah Briscoe - still doesn't shoot well but drives to the basket very well
3. Malik Monk's three point shooting

That right there is UK's scoring. People gush over their talent but it is practically the same team as last year just replace Murray with Monk and Ullis with Fox. Like last year, they have no inside scoring. Willis and Humphries look the same as last year and Odebayo is raw. Dickie V said it best yesterday - if you can keep Kentucky out of transition, you have a chance to beat them. They are not nearly as good in the half court. Michigan State is not a top ten team right now, so I wouldn't use that game as a good gauge.

ESPN already has an article about how "Kentucky is in mid season form" and other stupid stuff like that. Their bias is unreal. Yes, Kentucky looked good, but believe me, MSU is not good right now. Its not like they smoked Villanova or Indiana.

The begining of the end • Nov 17, 2016 01:15 AM

The best part is, we only have to wait two more days for gameday! Man, I love college basketball season!!

The begining of the end • Nov 17, 2016 01:11 AM

@DoubleDD Frank, Devonte, JJ and Svi around Udoka has so much potential and ability. IIRC, Duke won the 'ship in '15 using the 4-1 set.

You are right about Josh - I love the passion he and Udoka play with. Yes, JJ needs to stay under control, but you can't question his competitiveness and hunger to win. I am excited to see the improvements this team will make before March - need to clean up the sloppy play and start making some threes. I saw a tweet from John Gasaway about how poorly KU has shot the ball and compared that to what our opponents shot - he said we are pretty good. Devonte, Frank, Svi and Lagerald are all good shooters, so it is just a matter of time before they start dropping.
