Okay the two rules of biz and general conversation is avoid religion and politics. Yet when I fess up to playing a cupcake I will ,say, "we played lady of our sorrows high".

Never knew there was a Christian Brothers college and yes it sounds like a team nobody wants to lose to. But hey, I'm a Christian myself.

I use names like, Directional State, Marys School of the blind, Hannah Montana St., middle of the road state,

@KUSTEVE Same here, thought they would make Elite 8 and be done, but nooooooo. That really hurt to watch last year.

I'd like to see them get to the dance as everyone's darling and blow it in the 1st or 2nd round ala Duke.

HC Larry Brown said that Kentucky should run the table with their talent. Wonder if they have any of those undefeated shirts left over from last years clearance rack that were selling for a buck?

Is it time to remove the pads..... • Nov 10, 2014 06:28 PM

Whats worse than some of the targeting calls in football that are questionable is the flopping when there is a big dog pile.

Forget the flags, just play soccer if thats how tough guys act.

Can they get Weiss to pay for the gaol post replacement? He has some cash just laying around I'm sure.

How to beat Kentucky... • Nov 10, 2014 02:58 PM

The Axis? And I thought the key to beating anyone was to score more points than them.

I said it last year, for a Bill Self team to win games, it has to win the rebound battle, shoot a high percentage from the line, do it's best to not turn it over and take quality shots.

It sounds simple, but look at the games KU lost last year, they were out rebounded, they played sloppy and couldn't make a FT when needed. They got out hustled.

Even in games where they turned the ball over 17 times, they went hard to the glass and took good shots and made FT's to push for the win.

@justanotherfan To play Devils advocate, Pete Carroll left UCS before any violations came down by the NCAA even though he wasn't linked to Reggie Bush's agents or parents house.

It makes them look guilty because they left before the Fit hit the Shan. As would you if you were walking out of a house before the cops got there and there was a dead person inside. You may not have killed that person, but since you left and didn't call 911, you look pretty damn guilty in the eyes of the people.

Perception has a lot to do with things.

@Kip_McSmithers Barnes said a few years ago he would rather get his players drafted than win titles.

To me that shows he has no loyalty to Texas, the team it's self or the role players.

Then again if you retire and hang a jersey from the rafters for a guy who played one season at your school who only split the Big12 regular season title with KU and lost to KU in the finals of the Big12 turny. Only having a 4 seed in the NCAA turny and getting upset by USC in the second round.

Then sure I get Rick Barnes being more concerned about getting guys into the NBA.

He couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

Or Travis Ford, Rick Barnes and Scott Drew. Probably Bruce Weber too.

@HighEliteMajor Sometimes you show part of your hand to throw off your opponent. Can you imagine some of the early game coaches scrambling to change their D's from packing the paint to getting guys out on the perimeter?

You need solid 3 point shooting and the threat of three point shooting to open the lane up for the bigs or for a dribble penetration wither for a lay up, kick out or dish off.

They just need to be good shot attempts and not some hail mary that is forced or to early in the shot clock.

Make it a part of the offense and watch how it opens up Self's high low game even more.

@drgnslayr "air muscles" is that what you get from playing air guitar?

What is an "air muscle", do you have to keep an air compressor or an old bicycle pump near by to inflate them?

Or is an "air muscle" what Dick Vitale has? he just keeps getting louder and louder and just keeps blowing hot air out?

Greene suffers concussion against Washburn • Nov 04, 2014 11:31 PM

@jaybate-1.0 I have a a strange sense of humor, Steve Martin, mixed with Steven wright and Eddie Murphy (raw) add a little Andrew Dice clay and a splash of Larry the cable guy and I laugh at the world.

Once I lose my sense of humor or the ability to be a smart ass then it's time to sound the sirens and alarms (just not near me what so ever) and begin to worry.

But I do appreciate the understanding and advice. Thank you

@Crimsonorblue22 And thank you for looking out for me.

Appreciated.

Greene suffers concussion against Washburn • Nov 04, 2014 06:54 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 There are ups and downs, some days are great then wham bam sumbitchman I'm down and out. Other days start at 3am and by 6pm I'm ready to do things.

No rhyme or reason, no signs or set off points, they just happen.

Greene suffers concussion against Washburn • Nov 04, 2014 06:45 PM

Concussions suck, and usually you don't even know you have one, maybe you just got your bell wrung a little, well that's a concussion.

The American Heart Association got away with the term "mild hearts Attack" saying if it happens to your heart it's not minor.

The same should be said about concussions, If it happens to your brain, the one thing that runs everything else in your body, it is not Minor.

They can affect your balance, your speech, your vision, memory, writing and so many other motor functions and cognitive thinking its crazy.

Sit till you are ready young man, you have your whole life in front of you.

If he goes to a Big12 school he sits a year, but it can not be his redshirt, he loses a year of eligibility. If he transfers outside the conference he just sits a year, and it can be his redshirt and he would still have three years left to play, instead of just two in the Big12.

Thanks for all the info and outlook for this years team.

Love small ball, speed can be a killer.

Love aggressive teams on both sides of the court. Be it pressing, trapping or just pressure man to man. Offense that runs set plays to get easy looks and penetration from the wings that give you options of a layup, a dish or a kick out plus you can draw fouls and score from the line.

Again thanks, can't wait for the season to start.

@Crimsonorblue22 Cliff makes Jamri look like he needs to hit the weight room with Hudy more.

OK I haven't had a lot of time to research/follow/read over worded post to really get a grasp on this years team.

I know about the returnee's from last year and what they bring individually, I don't know a lot about the newbies and really not concerned about individuals, but as a team in whole.

Can anyone tell me what this years team will be about and how they will function as a whole?

Thanks

@ParisHawk I still like Roy. He meant a lot to Kansas Basketball. I did not like the distraction UNC created as we were going on a title run in 2003.

I agree about UNC, but I will never blame a guy for going home for a job.

Did it burn at first? Heck yeah it did, but it worked out for KU and UNC, so I don't worry about it.

Preseason Prediction on Final TOP 20! • Oct 13, 2014 05:27 PM

I don't have any sense about any teams right now, another reason I don't like preseason polls in any way.

With that said the end of the season is even in murkier water.

There will be a surprise team that comes out of the shows and makes the top 10 before the Dance. There will be more than one flop of a team that is in the top 10 early or top 15 and barely make the NIT.

That I know cause that's every season.

I predict that Cal and Self with have some slight handed comments about each others programs after their game in Indy.

That Duke will get overhyped all season thanks to ESPN's outpouring love affection for Coach K.

That the Big10 will somehow think they are the toughest conference to play in.

Over/Under for the times Coach Self is questioned about his coaching moves this season on this board alone will be 2,500. Place your bets gentlemen.

@wissoxfan83 My daughter just started her freshman year, just finished her first season with Cross Country and is already looking to see how the women's XC and track teams are at KU.

So like you, I already have her booked as a KU student in 4 years.

My Adidas
walked through concert doors
and roamed all over coliseum floors
I stepped on stage, at Live Aid
All the people gave and the poor got paid
And out of speakers I did speak
I wore my sneakers but I'm not a sneak
My Adidas cuts the sand of a foreign land
with mic in hand I cold took command
my Adidas and me, close as can be
we make a mean team, my Adidas and me
we get around together, rhyme forever
and we won't be mad when worn in bad weather
My Adidas..
My Adidas..
My Adidas

standin on 2 Fifth St.
funky fresh and yes cold on my feet
with no shoe string in em, I did not win em
I bought em off the Ave with the black Lee denim
I like to sport em that's why I bought em
a sucker tried to steal em so I caught em and I fought em
and I walk down the street and I bop to the beat
with Lee on my legs and adidas on my feet
and now I just standin here shooting the gif
me and D and my Adidas standing on 2 Fifth
My Adidas..
My Adidas..

Now
me and my Adidas do the illest things
we like to stomp out pimps with diamond rings
we slay all suckers who perpetrate
and lay down law from state to state
we travel on gravel, dirt road or street
I wear my Adidas when I rock the beat
on stage front page every show I go
it's Adidas on my feet high top or low
My Adidas..
My Adidas..

Now the Adidas I possess for one man is rare
myself homeboy got 50 pair
got blue and black cause I like to chill
and yellow and green when it's time to get ill
got a pair that I wear when I'm playin ball
with the heal inside make me 10 feet tall
my Adidas only bring good news
and they are not used as selling shoes
they're black and white, white with black stripe
the ones I like to wear when I rock the mic
on the strength of our famous university
we took the beat from the street and put it on TV
my Adidas are seen on the movie screen
Hollywood knows we're good if you know what I mean
we started in the alley, now we chill in Cali
and I won't trade my Adidas for no beat up Bally's
My Adidas..

LATE NIGHT IS HERE!!!! • Oct 10, 2014 03:42 PM

I have been to AFH once and I may never get to go again unless the place is empty due to my head.

What I would do to be able to go watch one more game pain free there, be it Late Night, a scrimmage or even exhibition game. I would settle for a Big Monday or GameDay too don't get me wrong.

@JayHawkFanToo Well then I won't be to terribly mad at the end of the season.

Early exits suck, but ending the season to Mizzlose would be the worst.

Best case and worst case. • Oct 07, 2014 06:12 PM

Best case run the table, take all titles in front of us.

Worst case would be to lose to Texas twice, and get bounced from the tournament in any round my Mizzlose.

Yeah pretty cut and dry

Kansas Dorm of the Future... • Oct 06, 2014 12:10 AM

I'd add security guards.

Protect the players from the fans. Plus to keep an eye on the players so they can't be charged with anything such as drugs, fighting, sexual assut and so on.

@justanotherfan The Hoke thing was more of a joke than anything, there fore the headset comment. I don't want him he always has an excuse ready and it's never his fault.

Gus Malzan had no head coaching experience besides at the highschool level before he went to a mid major for one year.

Mangino didn't even have mid major HC experience and Roy Wilkiams didn't even have HS HC experience.

Not sure about any of the names I through out just names that are possibly available. Your are probably right about Smart, but Applewhite spent a year on Dabans staff before going to Texas. He was also hand cuffed my an incompetent head coach in Mack Brown.

Major applewhite
Kirby smart

I'd look at TE next Gus Malzan. Find a guy who has never had his shot as a head coach in college, like they did with Mangino.

The two listed above are names at the top of my head. Scott frost would be another and I say that even after the Gill debacle and ties to Nebraska.

Brady Hoke will be available next year I'm sure. But it has to be in his contract that he has to wear a head set!!!!

CW was 41-49 as a head coach in college football. He went 41-49 and made $65 Million dollars. Thats good work if you can get it.

That's $1.5 million per victory for Charlie over his tenure as head coach.

Wonder when Tom Brady will stop being his reference?

In a related story the Phillies wanted Embid to throw out the first pitch, but the hers were afraid he'd hurt his back.

Hows it go, no malice intended, just jokes.
