Apparently, WVU is the new favorite ↗...really?
My point was that if you are going to other boards, go to the ones with a higher BBall IQ where you can maybe learn something new and have educated discussions. From what you posted, it sounds like every time you go there you lose a few IQ points yourself...so my question, why?
I would personally would not waste my time, but that is just me... to each his own. It's all good.
Some writers are under the impression that a freak ending to a game as in Texas A&M and Northern Iowa or a big upset as in Middle Tennessee over Michigan State make them great games; they do not and they are not necessarily great or even good games.
I am sure that no one would call the big VCU upset over KU a great game or even a good game; yes, it was a big upset but as games go it was pretty forgettable...other that it became the big item on Smart's resume and created the bogus legend of Shaka which we know is all smoke and mirrors.
22 points for Perry today...he is starting to hit his stride..
Obviously the chop is the squid's Kryptonite.
Blake Griffin did not play in 2006. In his first game against KU in 2008, Griffin got injured early and scored 0 points and KU won by 30 ↗. In 2009 Griffin was injured and did not play at all and KU beat then #3 OU by 9 at Norman ↗. They did not play in post season so Griffin scored a total of 0 points against KU.
All the other claims seem equally absurd, but more importantly, why even bother with other boards with posters who obviously don't know much about basketball and do not even bother to verify the non-sense they post? With search engines it is not hard at all and even easier to prove them wrong...but again, why even bother?
I am not sure that it happens by design, Like other coaches, Coach Self goes after talented players, the fact that many are now foreign born has no bearing on it. Look at Kentucky, they have had a steady stream of foreign players as well. In the current Team alone you have Mychal Mulder from Canada, Tai Wynyard New Zealand and Isaac Humphries Australia; past teams included Skal Labissiere from Haiti, Jamal Murray from Canada, Karl-Anthony Towns who is Dominican-American. Eloy Vargas from Dominican Republic, Kyle Wiltjer from Canada and let's not forget about Enes Kanter from Turkey.
Davidson has 6 foreign players in its current roster, Gonzaga, St Mary's and Santa Clara have large number of foreign players, particularly Australian. Many of these players are not recruited at all but make good members for the smaller conferences. Foreign players are all over college basketball and this is not going to change.
While I agree with some of your points, I disagree with others.
During the UCLA glory day in the 60's and early-mid 70's the landscape of college basketball was completely different. The number of quality players was small and a few school got the lion's share of them. Each season there were dozen teams that ware much better than the rest and only a handful capable of winning it it all. Keep in mind than until 1975, yes that is correct...1975, only 25 team were part of the NCAA Championship while there are now 68. Of course this a huge increase over 1952 when KU won its first championship when only 16 teams were invited. Now you have 351 programs in Division I and at least a couple of dozen capable to win it all with a little luck. Look at UConn in 2014, it was #7 seed which means it was not even in the top 25 or #6 KU in 1988 barely inside the top 25. UCLA's penultimate title was in 1975, the year it went to 32 teams and it did not win another until 1995 when it won its last one. That was then and this is now.
While UCLA became a good program because of outstanding coaching, it did not become great until it started getting the better players via Sam Gilbert; much of the UCLA winning was because of superior firepower rather than coaching alone. Many other contemporaneous coaches would have been equally successful with the players UCLA got. The big issue I have with Wooden is that he looked the other way and refused to do anything about wast was happening under his nose and on his watch; In his book, he pretty much acknowledged this...too little too late, in my opinion.
I understand Coach Knight cannot go to Puerto Rico. Last I heard the criminal charges against him were never dropped and they are still active unless some statue of limitations kicked-in in the last couple of years.
Jay Williams that played for Coach K disagrees with you and compares the old coach with the new version. ↗ I used to respect the Coach K with the higher standards but I don't care for the new one with lowered ones.
I agree with a lot of the characterizations about Duke and its players but those were done by the media and not by Coach K. Yes, we can take incidents and say that he was always that way. If this is the case, should we say that Coach Self does the same thing because he did not sit EJ for the rest of the game after the famous nut hit? How about Coach Knight? He himself got physical with players and yet many consider him one of the best because not only his teams did well on the court but most of the players graduated as well. I could go on...
There is really no right or wrong answer since it depends on individual perspective.
That is got to be the worst fake ID I have seen in a long time. LOL.
When you buy into the OAD approach to winning you are starting a slippery slope where winning at all costs becomes the only thing. Coach K has adopted this model and his righteousness has gone out the window. He just does not seem to be the coach we knew a while back and many of us respected; he has succumbed to the dark side, AKA the Calipari side/effect, and there is no coming back.
Perhaps I would call it "incentive" or" motivation" rather than chip on the shoulder since the later would imply that KU is not getting respect, it certainly is getting respects as the polls show. Just my opinion.
Athletes are arguably one of the more superstitious groups in society today. If they wear a pair of socks and win, they will no t wash them while they continue to win and so on. Likewise, they all seem to have very specific routines they do before shooting a free throw or going to bat or kicking a field goal. As others have mentioned, KU players have specific things they do before shooting free throws, they will spin the ball, squeeze it, bounce three time or what have you since they have been following the same routine their entire sports playing lives. What they don't realize is that hose routines are not helping them at all and they should really swap them for something else...anything else, but as we all know. convincing players to change styles, most of the time is easier said than done.
I will comment on the two issues.
First, information published subsequent to the initial report now indicates that the person that voiced the original complaint had a problem having and armed "police officer" in class which indicates that he/she knew the student in question was indeed a police officer and not just an armed man; so, the theory that he could have been an impersonator goes out the window. Second. the professor involved teaches "Criminal Science," this is what people that want to work in law enforcement study. Amazing that a professor that teaches this curriculum did not not know what was or was not legals and had to make phone calls to get the information. All he had to do, if there was any doubt about his identity, was to ask him to show his police identification...it is not like he was a stranger that wandered into that classroom, he was a fully enrolled student. The fact that the school apologized to the police officer appears to corroborate what I wrote.
On the three fifths issue, I learned that fact a long time ago and since then I have done a fair amount of research on the subject, since this subject comes up often, and just about every respectable study on the subject backs what I wrote. A couple of years ago, I had this conversation with my son in law, who happens to be Black American, and much like you, he had learned the other version on the three fifths topic. A few days later he mentioned that after our conversation he did extensive research on the subject since my version went against everything he had believed his entire adult life. He indicated that the version I mentioned now appeared to him to be the correct one and made more sense and history proved that to be the case. The three fifth amendment kept the South from getting a majority and legislation to end slavery was eventually passed by the slimmest of margins; had they been counted as four fifths instead, the South would have had a majority and the law would have taken a lot longer to be changed .
The alternate version is better known because it is used frequently by race baiters since if fits the narrative that white people are racists much better, even when the actual facts prove it otherwise. I can cite dozens of reputable studies on the subject that support my version...but why do it? I don't claim my version is correct or the only valid one, only that the facts and subsequent history appear TO ME to validate it. We all believe in what we believe and no amount of writing will change that. I don't have an issue if you prefer to believe the version you present is the correct one, frankly, it is none of my business, we simply politely agree to disagree like two reasonable adults.
I don't believe Coach K ever imagined the backlash that followed his initial decision. I will guess that the word came from either the school higher ups or the conference and he had to backpedal big time on his assessment; he probably is not happy with how he had to do what he should have done in the first place.
So sorry about your loss.
Josh Hart was not injured last year and played in every game and had a good championship game. He is much better now than he was last season much like Mason...he was good last year but he is the heart of this edition of the Jayhawks, you could replace him but the team would not be the same.
Hart is the type of talent that you can't really replace...even if other players step up.
Lonzo probably has a better supporting cast than Josh. He can have an off night and his team would do OK; If Josh has an off night Villanova is not the same team.
I think there are many possible scenarios and it depends on who the new HC ends up being. He might prefer to bring his own people or he might keep Porter in some capacity as long as Michael and then his brother are there; Michael seems to be a OAD and I am not sure about his brother. Keep in mind that while any program would take Michael, there are really very few places where he would be able to truly showcase his talent for the NBA, including a depp rum in the Tournament. Having said this, Ben Simmons went to a crappy programs and it did not seem to hurt his draft status.
You can also look at it the other way. Recruits will not jump while he is still the coach. The longer he stays the more other rosters get filled and the less opportunities for recruits to go elsewhere. I don't believe Porter is at the major program level as a coach; he might be able to keep his kid but likely no one else with potential.
In a weird way it could help relieve some pressure from Lucas and Bragg since they will not have to worry about not making mistakes and earning playing time. Both will get plenty of playing time and they just need to concentrate in staying out of foul trouble and increasing productivity.
First half of the next game?
Fool's gold?
I have watched several Villanova games and .Josh's Hart is the real deal; without him Villanova is not even a top 10 team.
I believe Monk was 1-9 from 3 and the one he made was from way out with 10 seconds lef to bring UK within one point.
That is what good PR will do for you...at least for a while.
I mentioned before that if you look at the list of most hated college players of all time, it looks like the who is who of Duke's alumni. Duke has always gotten away with a lot misconduct and wrongdoing because people seem to have the mistaken view that Coack K can do no wrong...people thought the same thing about JoPa and in the end, when all the dirty laundry was exposed, it did not bide well for him and it will not for rat face either.
The game will be on CBS C at 8 pm Central. For those of you on Consolidated Communications it's Chanel 491.
I believe the article does not indicate that the player was showboating, it quotes Coach K telling the player that showboating was beneath him...which he in fact did say.
Coach K is not only not helping Allen by refusing to show there are consequences when you act like a punk on the court, he is also jeopardizing his own legacy because his lack of action is a de facto endorsement of this type of behavior. Joe Paterno looked the other way when bad things happened under his watch and it costed him his job and legacy. Granted that what happened at Penn State was considerably more serious but what is happening at Duke is developing on live TV for the whole basketball world to see and it is not looking good for him. His...I know better thank you all do...attitude is surprising and shows arrogance and lack of awareness for how the public at large sees this development. Dana O'Neal was article was spot on.
I agree that is a bump on the road, a big one at that, but by no means it is good news.
There is no question in my mind that the very first step should have been not too play him the rest of the game with further punishment to follow. I am sure that Coach K will pay dearly for this as it will be a permanent footnote on his legacy, whatever it might end up being.
Whatever penalty Duke end up meting out, the Conference should double just to show that Coach K and Duke are not above the rules and to send a message loud and clear that it does not tolerate this type of behavior. If I were a betting man, I will guess that he will get no more than one game suspension when a 3 to 5 game suspension is warranted.
I wanted Lightfoot to have a breakout year but not like this. I feel bad for the big guy.

This is actually good news.
Self gets bored when things go right.
You are starting to sound really creepy...
I hope things worked out for the better. We will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers.
Bad news indeed. Here is the link ↗...
I told you guys at the beginning of the season, when he was projected top be POY, that it would depend on whether he can go the entire season without being suspended. He is indeed predictable; the time will come when an opposing player rips his head off after a cheap shot.
When I played doctor? Of course.
You are the best at finding video...that is a Cobra Kai worthy vicious leg sweep...
No, but I played doctor in my younger years...:smiley_cat:
By looking at the picture, looks like a soft wrist brace/immobilizer and not a hand brace; the hand does not appear to be swollen. If his hand was broken he would have had surgery and be wearing a hard hand cast instead. Based on my very limited personal experience, looks like a wrist sprain or maybe a hairline fracture they hope will heal without surgery but I could be way off. Any doctors in the house? Isn't @ralster one?
I agree with you 100%.
I do my share of community work, I just don't talk about it otherwise it becomes a quid pro quo.
They would have to get a big name coach to keep the prospects; Coach Porter ain't it.
Doke's injury...you know he had to be involved; he will probably have the X-Rays on EBay...:smile_cat:
They will probably wait until late spring to make an announcement to lessen the chances of prospects from jumping ship, although if they choose to leave, there is not much they can do about it, other than perhaps banning transfer to a rival, or risk huge negative publicity.
My go to answer would be Zenger...:smirk:
We both have knack for the obvious.
Nope, winter thunderstorms always include ice which I don't care for...unless it has a few fingers of Scotch surrounding it.
