KU vs TCU chat • Feb 21, 2015 10:24 PM

We get even worse refs at home than we do on the road. KU must be the only team that gets the short end at home and away

@KansasComet

You are right; cyber bullying is now prevalent in forums of all sort in great part because the anonymity they provide. No question that; some of the material posted on this forum could be construed as cyber bullying.

Legal definition

Cyber bullying is defined in legal glossaries as:

  • actions that use information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm another or others.
  • use of communication technologies for the intention of harming another person
  • use of internet service and mobile technologies such as web pages and discussion groups as well as instant messaging or SMS text messaging with the intention of harming another person.

Examples of what constitutes cyber bullying include communications that seek to intimidate, control, manipulate, put down, falsely discredit, or humiliate the recipient. The actions are deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior intended to harm another
.
Cyber bullying has been defined by The National Crime Prevention Council: “When the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person."

A cyber bully may be a person whom the target knows or an online stranger. A cyber bully may be anonymous and may solicit involvement of other people online who do not even know the target. This is known as a 'digital pile-on.

As they now explain the concept to kids in grade school...if it is something mean and offensive that you would not otherwise tell the other person face to face, it is probably cyber bullying. I am not talking about the attempts at humor, however misguided and in poor taste, I am talking about the unwarranted offensive posts that surface from time to time. I am not referring to anyone in particular but it is likely that from time to time, most of us have gone over the line even if just little bit. Constructive comments welcome.

@wrwlumpy

Best player Perry Ellis, Most Valuable Player Frank Mason.

@JayhawkRock78

Why do you even bother with this? There are legislators in Kansas that just about every year try to pass a bill forcing KU and KSU to play WSU...if goes nowhere in Kansas and nobody really give a rat's a$$ about it. The same is true about the University of Houston and the Big 12.

KU’s Mykhailiuk sees • Feb 20, 2015 08:50 PM

@konkeyDong

Dean Smith at UNC used to have a drill where they played a scrimmage and they kept track of points and layups counted more than long shots and dunks. A properly executed layup off the glass while protecting the ball from being blocked is the highest percentage shot and it takes a lot less energy than a dunk.

I am with @Crimsonorblue22 and say NO!!!

TCU Prints a Recipe For Beating KU. • Feb 20, 2015 08:19 PM

@wrwlumpy

This is a Pomeroy-like article. I would venture to say that the writer has not seen KU play a single time and his entire premise is based on numbers. Number do not tell the entire story. I trust Coach Self's judgment over that of any writer that solely relies on numbers. Just my personal view, no bashing please.

Time to show some love • Feb 20, 2015 08:08 PM

@justanotherfan

Very nicely done. Perry seems to be heavily underrated and criticized by a lot of KU fans. Fans from other conference teams consider him all-conference caliber and have a lot of respect for him.

TRob • Feb 20, 2015 08:01 PM

@REHawk

I believe you have it correct. The buyout is money in his pocket that he gets and he does not have to do anything else for Portland. Whatever contract he gets from another team is money on top of the buyout. Not being tied to a team and/or contract, obviously makes it easier for other teams to negotiate with him since no other team with a say or need for compensation is involved. Hopefully he finds one that offers him a real chance to play and not just temporarily replace injured players.

TRob • Feb 20, 2015 11:14 AM

@FarSideHawk

Faried is averaging 27.4 mpg this season, not really a big number considering there are 48 minutes per position. Arthur is averaging 17.9 mpg, so TRob's time will have to come from one of those two, although TRob can probably play Center at times..

Not even close...

Genius Analysis by Jesse • Feb 19, 2015 08:21 PM

@drgnslayr

It is a new generation of kids out there, one that is completely different from our generation...the name on the Jersey is not as important as the number on the check.

TRob • Feb 19, 2015 08:17 PM

@DCHawker

The McGeee trade is good news for TRob; hopefully he will get decent chance to show what he can do,

Another trade...the Sun's Dragic traded to the Miami Heat; this is probably not good news for Chalmers who had lost and regained his starting spot and now Miami has a glut of guards.

Also, apparently Garnett has approved a trade to the Wolves...he is one of 6 players in the NBA with veto power over trades and the talk was that he did not want to move in the middle of the season. He has indicated and interest in buying the Wolves and maybe this is the first step since he has one, maybe two seasons left to play.

Genius Analysis by Jesse • Feb 19, 2015 08:04 PM

The Mudiay experiment will set the tone for future potential OADs. If Mudiay goes high, China will become the preferred destination for OADs since they can make a fair amount of change while they wait for the NBA to come calling. China has more money than they know what to do and they might start keeping players longer that one year. I understand Thon has indicated that China is one possibility...if there is enough money, he will never play college ball.

KState Article • Feb 19, 2015 07:23 PM

@Crimsonorblue22

I would say Weber stays. Believe it or not, suspending Foster bought him some good will with a lot of the older, more traditional KSU fans that frown on self-centered players like Foster. Foster is a hugely talented player but I get the impression he has a bad attitude; he reminds me of the "king of flop" Marcus Smart.

KState Article • Feb 19, 2015 07:09 PM

I believe Foster has "checked out" from the team for the season. He obviously had some issues that got him suspended and his bad attitude is evident. I just don't see him coming back next season...Miami anyone?

RPI - Seeding • Feb 19, 2015 06:57 PM

@wissoxfan83

You are comparing apples and oranges. Keep in mind that the RPI measures schedule "to date" while you are including post-season games as well. Also, the RPI measures "ALL" games and not just he ones against top teams. For example, many ACC teams have a number of tough games since the top 4-5 teams in the Conference are very good but they also play a bunch of dogs not only during conference play but also in their non-con schedule. There are no real "dogs" in the Biog 12 this year and KU's non-con schedule was universally considered the toughest....even by Pomeroy's numbers, and that is saying a lot.

Genius Analysis by Jesse • Feb 19, 2015 06:48 PM

@DCHawker

Are you numbers for the season or for conference play? The KU lineup has changed big time from the beginning of the season and the early games probably bring some player's numbers down. It would be better to just use conference games since they would be more representative of current play. Just my 2 cents.
