KU DE-NUTs LONGHORNS...JUST THE FACTS JACK • Jan 24, 2015 10:59 PM

The 3 turnovers:
Was the lowest number of t.o.s on the road by a KU team in KU history, and they tied the lowest overall with the 1966 team, who set the record at home against the Clones.

We are all Red Raiders today...GO Texas Tech...beat those Clones!!!!

@JayHawkFanToo i predict the opposite - he will be thrilled with Coach's tremendous game plan, as we all are. What did you think of Greene's performance? i just think we have to let him get 20 minutes every game. My gosh, he is our biggest weapon, and he is a deadly 3 point shooter...

@Crimsonorblue22 It's taken me two games to shake that one off...lol. I felt like we were soft as a baby's butt in that one, and didn't show enough poise. this win today is a really special win on so many fronts because we played tough- we proved to ourselves we could beat height and length, and we could dismantle a tall team's defense just as well as a shorter team. That was some GREAT coaching from Mr. Self, and some GREAT execution from the good guys today. I am pumped.....

@JayHawkFanToo I'm not worried about the Clones. we just have to turn the game into a half court ordeal, and not give up 20 points in runouts because we didn't get back on defense. I think we'll run them off our court.

@JayHawkFanToo We used to beg teams to press us when Roy was coach.

KU vs Texas chat here.... • Jan 24, 2015 09:55 PM

@JayHawkFanToo The way that frank and Devonte handled pressure today gives me lots of hope we'll get lots of runouts when WVU tries to pressure us. I LOVE seeing only 3 turnovers....

@VailHawk I told some Misery trollers a few years back they should go get a copy of the newspaper showing misery ranked in the top 5 in basketball, so they could show their grandkids in 30 years the time that Misery was relevant, and actually ranked in the top 5 ( they went on that year to lose to Norfolk St in the first round).

KU vs Texas chat here.... • Jan 24, 2015 09:42 PM

In other news...Misery lost again ...their record is now 7-12.

Best win of the year. Every player looked great. first really good game of the year - our defense was dominant for huge swatches of this game. Greene, Perry, Jamari, Devonte, Frank,Wayne, and the Big Man Cliffie were total studs this game. What a tough minded team I saw today...hey Myles...you picked the wrong door!!!

KU vs Texas chat here.... • Jan 24, 2015 07:52 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 you have to be excited about the first half, though. I hope Greene starts the 2nd half...

i wish we'd set some screens for brannen, and let him shoot 25 shots from the perimeter today...

KU vs Texas chat here.... • Jan 24, 2015 07:42 PM

hey everyone...we're going to win today...

@JhawkAlum I don't understand what you mean. Here is my last post:

KUSTEVE:
@JhawkAlum I wasn't asking Andrew to hit 50 a night- just pass the ball when you're tripled teamed.

**

@wissoxfan83 I keep telling myself...he's the President of the United States. If it motivates the team, and allows Obama to hang around with some winners for a change, that can't be all bad, right?

@drgnslayr Yes sir. Simplify the offense : give it to Thon....simplify the defense...let Thon take on their best player 1-5 on defense...

@drgnslayr THON...the name sends chills up my spine. Let's get his twitter acct, and do our own recruiting, slayer. We need him next year.

Is Cliff out of the Big Red Dog House? • Jan 22, 2015 10:36 PM

@jayhawk-007 I feel like Coach already handled this in the OU game. It was Cliffie's breakout game. I don't have a good reason why he benched him in the Clone game, but I certainly can't argue with the results.

@JhawkAlum I wasn't asking Andrew to hit 50 a night- just pass the ball when you're tripled teamed.

@drgnslayr I love high pressure defense. Trap the crap out of them.

@jaybate-1.0 will do...lol.

@jaybate-1.0 OMG...you didn't...BUT..you did....a picture of the SOLAR SYSTEM...
you're killing me..I am busting a nut laughing...

@drgnslayr Wishful thinking Bill vs the REAL BILL. Wishful thinking Bill anointed Naadir as our most important player, not realizing he had elevated the weakest link. That whole gig came down with a THUD with the multiple benchings of Tharpe in the NCAA tourney. Wishful think Bill dutifully ran Tharpe out there, electing to let Connor and poppa stew on the bench all year. Last year, there was a quick hook ( hyuk for Vonnegut readers) that was sudden bench grabbing time for errant passes, almost any 3 point shot, and sleeping on defense. Last year, we anointed 3 freshmen to start, no questions asked.

REAL BILL is realizing we can't score inside like we used to, so the three ball is now in play.

REAL BILL is making the freshmen EARN their minutes, which is a refreshing change. We have actually had tryouts this year, for the most part.

REAL BILL teaches defense, and this year's team has responded better than last year's version...so far!

I think Coach was caught up last year in having to be "nice" because he couldn't afford to alienate Wigs. He appears to be more like himself in his coaching than he was last year.

i think this year's Bill is the real Bill- the coach we've watched for a decade.

Our guard play cost us multiple games last year, so we are far ahead of last year, even with Selden's struggles. Our interior doesn't have the manpower we had last year, but I have high hopes for Cliffie.
Last year's Frank, and this year's Frank are night and day. Selden looks worse than last year, simply because he is trying to do more, and the change in shooting approach has got him thinking too much. Perry is crying over losing Embiid and Black, but is learning to score without their help. Greene looks 1,000% better. We didn't have Graham around, but he's the best pure PG we've had in a long while. Jamari looks like Jamari- I don't see any growth in his game( sorry, crimson). We are a young, immature team that has no clue how good we are. We blow leads ( like last year), we have times where we play simply abysmally, and we have times we look just like 2008 or 2012. Our defense looks championship caliber, then we get our ass kicked by transition buckets all night against the Clones. We're a mixed bag...a box of chocolates- you never know what you're going to get. Every game is a roller coaster ride of great, combined with suck. I am not even contemplating what Saturday's game will be like, or how it will go. We could win by double digits, or we could get bullied off the court. I can't wait until this team finally hits a peak, with everything in place, and begins to play complete games with poise, confidence, tough nosed defense, with creative offense. All the parts are there -let's fit them together, and fire this baby up!

The Selden Factor • Jan 21, 2015 01:06 PM

@jaybate-1.0 I stayed mad at Brady his entire senior year. In my mind, he was the poster child for OADs. I guess I need to finally let that VCU game go...lol.

The Remaining Big 12 Schedule And Strategy • Jan 21, 2015 12:47 PM

@truehawk93 I'm not worried about blowing the lead. We weren't going to hit 60% the whole game. OU already has a double digit win at Texas, has been ranked for some time, and Kruger is a very good coach. Practically every team we play in conference will be older, with way more experience than we have. The good news is we held on- we made the plays down the stretch to win.

I think we just saw the Cliffie breakout. 13 and 13 is a breakout to me, and I would expect no less going forward. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't start from here on out.

The Remaining Big 12 Schedule And Strategy • Jan 21, 2015 01:35 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I thought our game against the Clones was our worst game of the year. Not because we played the worst, but because we didn't meet the challenge. you want to be champion? You win in Ames. We can still win it, but I would've much rather been 5-0 instead of 4-1 going into austin.

The Remaining Big 12 Schedule And Strategy • Jan 21, 2015 01:18 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 pretty good game. i keep thinking what the kitties would've looked like if angel hadn't transferred. of course, you can't blame him for not wanting to be coached by liberace...

The Remaining Big 12 Schedule And Strategy • Jan 21, 2015 12:54 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 I am now...lots of commercials...

@JayHawkFanToo https://vine.co/v/OjluHAMJ9Q3 ↗

It is pure silliness the way it was reported...looked like a love tap to me.

The Remaining Big 12 Schedule And Strategy • Jan 20, 2015 11:06 PM

I still say we end up 14-4, which will win the Big 12. Losses at UT, OU, and WVU, and winning out at home gets us there.

The Selden Factor • Jan 20, 2015 03:27 PM

@drgnslayr Right on the money, Slayer. Wayne is still searching to find his way...I think the benching at the end was a motivational tool for the next game, like he did with Cliffie. He just can't finish his drives, and ends up out of control too many times.

BTW, truly brilliant coaching by Self, and brilliant writing by the great one, Mr Jaybate,,,

@BeddieKU23 I would venture to say we haven't tried it before, so nothing ventured, nothing gained. He hasn't fouled out yet, and we need a lift in the middle, so I say why not try it?

Just something I noticed • Jan 20, 2015 01:12 PM

@DoubleDD We got mugged in the game against the Clones.

Great comments. Cliff will be our starting center for the Texas game, imo. If we are going to go inside out, he has to be in the lineup. He changes the game for us.

Ice Baby • Jan 20, 2015 12:55 PM

@bskeet My favorite Jayhawk of all time...Ron Kellog.

Ok...why didn't we simply go with Frank, Devonte, BG, Kelly, and Hunter, and beat them at their own game? Press the inbounds, trap the ball on the perimeter, get RUN OUTS...

I'm a lot like a younger version of my Grandpa Ray ( 54 yes, I am young and restless ). My grandmother would make him take me to the Liberal Bee Jay games ( no dirty comments ). He'd sit there, along 50 other old men, and yell at the umpire the whole game. You talk about a peanut gallery - those old coots would slam the ump the whole night...booing, caterwauling...it was quite a spectacle. And my grandpa would always compete with two other old farts for most obnoxious of the night. One time, the guy running the P.A. system got on them over the loud speaker for yelling smack at the opposing manager. I'm kind of like that when we lose...I always come up with a "better plan"....LOL.

Bragg on tv • Jan 19, 2015 10:44 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 oooh...oooh...tell me, tell..what did he look like? Was he as amazing as I am hoping?

In 25 hours we play the OKLAHOMA SOONERS • Jan 19, 2015 10:38 PM

I personally caused the Clone loss with my youthful exuberance selecting an easy KU win, and my belief the refs would call a foul on the Clones within the first 30 minutes of the game. My KU selection must've created an avalanche of bad karma resulting in our worst game of the year, so I won't be publicly calling for a double digit beating of OU tonight, although I will be thinking it.
Once again, sorry for the "double mojo zombie piss" on the good guys.

Why we lost in Ames and how bad it hurt us • Jan 19, 2015 01:31 PM

@drgnslayr The really sad part of our loss yesterday is that all we had to do is play reasonably well to win it. We were beat by a completely inferior team and we (once again) came unprepared to play.

Amen. It's not fatal - we simply allowed the Clones to get numerous runouts, and lost to a team we will beat by double digits in Lawrence. Hopefully, we will get no fouls called on us for the first 30 minutes of the game, like the Clones got in Ames.

KU/ CLONES Predictions • Jan 18, 2015 01:05 PM

Oh well. We have a chance at redemption Monday night...

KU/ CLONES Predictions • Jan 17, 2015 06:24 PM

Oh ye of little faith...We're playing the Clones, not the MJ/ Pippen Chicago Bulls. We're 1200 lbs of screaming steel, and sex appeal. We're going to smoke that swiss cheese defense, and slow down that offense.

KU/ CLONES Predictions • Jan 17, 2015 04:48 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I think we will take control of the game, and be ahead by 10+ for most of the game. I am not sweating this one.

KU/ CLONES Predictions • Jan 17, 2015 12:49 PM

I am predicting a wild shoot out in the land of the Uglies. I think we get boatloads of runouts. I think our offense has its best day of the year. Threes will fall like pennies from heaven for the good guys:
FINAL SCORE: KU 79 Clones 72.

Trends of 5 Games after Temple • Jan 17, 2015 12:23 PM

We have played exceptionally well since that loss. The next three games will tell us a lot. Road games vs the Clones/UT with a home game against OU on the short hop - we win all three, we're in tall cotton. I think we can win them all.

Iowa State Cyclones • Jan 17, 2015 12:13 PM

@wrwlumpy Here's the scenario : in 2016, it will be 50 years since UTEP ( Texas Western) beat Kenyucky. Timmay Floyd wants a rematch in 2016, and Yucky said no. So, Timmay goes off on this screed against Yucky, essentially playing the race card. Floyd is just a loud mouth, imo.
