This is a bit premature, imo...
Baylor is losing their top guys. KSU losing theirs. TCU lost theirs. Texas losing theirs. WVU losing theirs. Houston lost 2 top guys. Etc. etc. etc. Almost every team is losing their top two scorers in the league.
It is just a scramble for everyone, and I trust us to end up with top-tier talent out of the portal.

@FarmerJayhawk meh. The type of recruiting and success combined is blue blood level. And with Hurley at the helm they sustain success. If they aren’t a blue blood they’re everything but one. Phenomenal program for 25 years

Last thing I'll say, just remember this is a fan site. But even moreso than like a 247 board. Think of how big of a KU Homer you have to be to find this place lol. A lot of crimson and blue glasses here. If you are going to be a bit more "measured" you're going to get some pushback... Just the nature of being that kind personality on a board of complete and total fanatics. Which we all are lol.

He is going to be a MONSTER in transition. He's phenomenal going left. I mean I thought MJ would certainly be better as a freshman... But I never miss twice lol.
@BShark I get the argument of "what more could he have done to get the job?" So I understand both sides of it.
The KU fan in me thinks the Texas job is a great job and every year you have a mediocre coach leading that program is a missed opportunity. There is really no reason UT isn't competing for a national title every few years. So to me you better think Terry is the guy.
UT fans probably don't care though. And then there are some other optics at play for the AD. Like firing a black coach who "proved" he could do the job and hiring a white guy to replace him. Not exactly the best way to keep your job as an AD. So I get why he got the job.
@benshawks08 Without having any real knowledge of the situation, I assume you're right. They likely called around about guys they were interested in. My assumption is that the price to get "their" guys made it a high risk hire, and when you have a freebie hire right in front of you, you don't make a high-risk hire.
This was a job security hire from the AD. Which is fine. Everyone else on this board would probably make that same decision in that situation.

From a purely basketball standpoint I think Terry was coaching one of the oldest teams in basketball. You could roll the ball out with that group and they’d win 20 games with no coach. I’m not sure this is a good evaluation of his talent.
Will be interesting to see if he can do it again next season.

But my guess is they just keep Terry. Sort of makes sense for everyone. He did a good job. Low risk move for the AD. Keeps the roster as in tact as possible (though I think they'll still lose 6+ guys). Keeps the five star guys going to UT I think. I'm sure they'll get some guys in the portal who can play.
But again, I hope they call Tang with a blank checkbook.
Finally, super super super unlikely scenario I want to throw out. But Calipari to UT after a negotiated buyout with UK for everyone to move on. Cal brings his superstar class with him to Texas. Kentucky starts a new era after getting Nate Oats or Scot Drew or Jerome Tang or someone like that. This only happens if UT wants to do something stupid and splashy. So not entirely impossible lol.
Someone tell me NIL and transfers only benefits the best teams. A mid-major WILL be in the title game

@BeddieKU23 This is probably one of my biggest "misses" ever from player expectations. I thought Joe would end up a star at KU. If he ends up under the right coach, I think they may have a hidden gem. Someone who can get him back to the .384 shooter he was at Drake.

I think it is hilarious that Andy Reid seems to shy away from these guys despite having TO dominate for him. He schemes guys open so well that these big body WRs who can run after the catch would theoretically thrive under him.
But analytically, the Chiefs under Andy have favored separation ability vs. run after catch ability. I'd love to know what Pat would think about having a 6'5 guy he can just throw the ball up to though.
@Woodrow hot goss says 3 starter-level guys. The only one that Slater has name-dropped officially was Harrison Ingram. And he'd be the lowest scorer of the 3 guys that are linked to KU right now... As long as this all holds true we'll be pretty happy.
@mayjay Yea I also felt the KJ rebound slander was a bit dramatic for several reasons. We switch everything, and so he isn't always under the basket. He played next to three guys who rebounded pretty well in Gradey, Kev and JWill. And when he wasn't switched, he had to box out the opposing big man which made others available to rebound the ball.
Is he Thomas Robinson? No. But he was as good as you could really expect for a player his size and caliber.
