Links to watch the games are up now on the link that I provided in the original post. All games will be broadcasted on Youtube like last year.
@Crimsonorblue22 In theory, yes.
But, you can only have 15 players on your roster. So if they sign anyone else, than no they can't. All they could offer him is a D-League contract.
@Crimsonorblue22 Right now, Sac has Frank's rights. But they aren't forced to sign him like they are their 1st Round Picks. So if they don't sign him, he can go play somewhere else. I think someone would find a roster spot for Frank. There is a reason he was taken at 34.
Sacramento could also trade his rights to someone else and possibly pick up an extra 2nd round pick if someone wanted Frank badly enough.
Here is kind of the situation Frank is in:
A lot of different things could happen, but ultimately if Sacramento signs someone else Frank will be trying to make someone else's roster.
I was just about to post about the schedule. This team COULD start 6-0 going into a winnable TCU game. With a real shot to beat both KSU and Baylor at home.
I didn't realize how favorable the schedule was when thinking about wins. Anything less than 4 wins this season and Beaty needs the burner turned up on him. We HAVE to start 3-0 this year. I don't care Ohio is a solid team coached by a very good coach. We are a big boy program and need to win those kinds of games. And to think Central Michigan is favored blows my mind. They are picked to finish 4-8 and in the bottom of their conference.
My way too early predictions:
- SEMO - W - 55-14
- CMU - W - 35-20
- @ Ohio - W - 24-17
- WVU - W - 35-28
- TTU - W - 28-17
- @ ISU - W - 31-20
- @ TCU- L - 42-28
- KSU - L - 28-13
- BU - W - 24-17
- @ UT - L - 45-30
- OU - L - 35-20
- @ OSU - L - 42-30
Overall record - 7-5. I actually think we will only win 5 games and let a couple get away we should have won. But, if we play up to our potential, we could definitely pull off a great season and a 7-5 record.
I really, REALLY like the way the schedule falls. And I really, REALLY like this teams offensive potential. Adding another stud receiver and lineman to go with us getting back Ben Johnson AND the addition of a real offensive coordinator makes us look scary good. Now it just all depends on if Bender can actually play some football.
Last year we scored an average of 20.25 points per game. We lost by an average of 17 points per game. We had 2 losses decided by a touchdown or less. We were within a TD at halftime of the OSU game and gave KState hell in Manhattan. IF we can score closer to 25 PPG and have a longer average possession time, I think we can close our margin and stay in some games. That is where we can steal a few of them.
@JayHawkFanToo I don't put too much stock into +/- in summer league. Most teams don't care about the score or are even trying to win. They want to see guys hit shots and move the ball.
With that being said, Frank had a great 3rd game. I hope that other teams are watching him and his deal in Sactown goes bad after they signed George Hill when they weren't expecting to.
They clearly want to keep Frank though. They played two PGs just to get that look of what Fox could do off the ball. Which would lead me to believe they are thinking about having 3 PGs on the team.
Only problem is they added quite a few pieces to the perimeter. They now have Hill, Fox, Hield, Jackson, Temple, Bogdanovic, Richardson and Carter all on the roster. And, besides a crowded perimeter, they also just have bodies. They have 14 players signed, and they are still talking to Ty Lawson as well.
Just makes me think that they will take there chances on not signing Frank and then come back and offer him a D-League contract in typical, cheap Sacramento fashion.
Sactown has 1 roster spot left. Frank will have to ball out the rest of the summer to get it.
"I was a little worried about how unenthusiastic Frank Mason looked in the first game, but it looks like that’s just a part of his personality, a la Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard. The more worrying thing for Mason is that he’s seemingly having trouble finishing around the rim. One of the few cogent points that Isiah Thomas made on the broadcast was that when the other Isaiah came into the league in 2011, he made a name for himself by being able to finish around the rim despite the height disparity. Mason hasn’t necessarily made that adjustment yet."
From SB Nation - "Perry Ellis — Ellis was a problem for the Nuggets. On offense, when he would catch near the paint he had no problem getting up his shot—a sequence of hooks, fades, and lay-ins. Most impressive was his three-point stroke. Very clean. Nine of his 19 points were on threes, only missing twice. His defense was ugly. Or, at best, nonchalant. Not a good move when your team’s President of Basketball Operations is Tom Thibodeau."
Not looking good for some of our guys.
I do think AWIII could actually make Cleveland's roster. A younger and cheaper version of James Jones.
Perry is proving that he can score in the league, which is nice. With NBA moving to that stretch 4, there is a spot in the league for him.
Wayne is making Memphis look smart by signing him to a multi-year deal. If he can put up decent numbers for two years, Wayne will become a very rich man on July 1 2019.
Frank looks like he is taking a back seat instead of being the FM we know he can be.
Wright has little chance of making a roster... Which sucks because I really wanted him to make a comeback.
Lando just not even getting the opportunity to show he can play D and rebound.
Diallo looks like he is going to have a long NBA career. He will be able to be one of those posts who can switch on D and guard anyone. He has developed a mid-range jumper that will only expand. He can run the floor and rebound. I think he is going to surprise some people this year... Also, he has put on a much needed 10lbs since the season ended. I think when he adds 10 more and gets that "man strength" we will see him become a very solid rotation piece.
Wonder if we can all just chip in a dollar and share the login info?
@brooksmd He has never hit this well in the minors though.
He's really close to having it click. Just my opinion though.
@brooksmd no, McCutchen would be the insurance.
Mondesi is only in a deal for a trade like the James Shields where we get a stud and another decent veteran.
And he's been hitting the sh*t out of the ball in AAA. He's not far away...
@JayHawkFanToo I actually think Lonzo has the higher upside. But a waaaay lower floor.
There aren't many guys 6'6 who can play the point as well as Lonzo can. And he is going to be blessed with great mentors all around him I think.
I think Lonzo might have gone before JJ simply from personnel though. With them trying to have space for LBJ and PG next year, there wasnt much room left for JJ on the wing. Not with Ingram already in the team.
If McCutchen is actually available I'd give up any prospect but Mondesi. He's LoCain insurance and gives us the potential to be the best defensive outfield.
@AsadZ Winning fixes everything...
@Crimsonorblue22 bet you'd root for them if they were wearing a Royals uniform...
-
Josh Donaldson: Can rotate at 3rd with Moose and DH. Would have an Arbitration year next year so he would still be under control. Could slide Moose to 1B next season.
-
Jose Bautista - DH. Would cost almost nothing.
Both of those guys could be had for the right package. Say Cuthbert, and Two mid-level Double A prospects. And Moss if they want Moss.
-
Johnny Cueto reunion. Word is he may opt out of contract next season, so he could be affordable.
-
Ryan Madson reuinion. Dude is putting up a 2.34 ERA in Oakland.
-
Andrew McCutchen. Perfect fit in KC. Cheap contract next season. Would have to give up a good piece for him, but I think it would be worth it. Would let us have an elite defensive RF.
-
Addison Reed. Mets Closer. Could be a perfect fit.
-
Jed Lowrie - poor mans Zobrist have a solid season. Between him and Whit we could give everyone but Salvy and Cain a day off.
-
Pat Neshek could be had for cheap. 1.40 ERA as a closer this year. And a Free agent next season at 37 years old. Might be able to get him for a bag of flaming dog poo.
-
Todd Frazier - Again a DH that could be had for cheap. Dude can't hit for average though.
-
Jay Bruce - DH.
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh he would so fit in! You just don't like him because he is so fat. He's funny and goofy! Players would give him a hard time. He could be a 5th starter or long relief guy. Essentially Chris Young's role with a better old guy.
Its super low risk low reward. If he fits in keep him if he doesn't it cost you nothing and let him go.
Who are you willing to trade for someone better? Mondesi? Torres? Cuthbert? Those are probably our best trade pieces right now and all look like they will be important pieces of the future. DM is going to have to find some Diamonds in the rough.
Seems like these guys aren't ready to leave KC quite yet... The front office owes it to the fans to chase one more. Time to buy. We need another starter and another bullpen arm. The first 6 batters in the lineup right now are absolutely killing it. As long as one of the bottom 3 guys are hitting, the offense is solid.
Dayton has done a good job in the past of bringing in good pen arms during the waiver period though. And with Duffy back we aren't hurting for a starter. Essentially what I'm saying, don't sell the farm for someone this year. If there is a right deal at a right time, do it. Like Bartolo Colon, could be a nice pickup for only $254k.
They both have ugly shots. The difference is that JJ's game isn't going to be from behind the arc anyways. As long as he can hit an open jumper at a 38% clip he will be fine.
Lonzo on the other hand, he has more to prove. His D isn't that good. So if he isn't amazing all around on offense he will be a very average player.
@wissox Well, what if it mean fouls were called correctly. What if it were all drones programmed to referee basketball.
It would create consistency. A charge vs a block would be based on an algorithm and be called the same way every time.
There would be no crowd bias. There would be no team bias. There would be no coach bias.
Simply, every single game could be reffed the exact same way.
No stupid replays under 2 minutes because the drones are tracking the exact parameters and are analyzing the ball at live speed better than even a human could slowing the replay down to a 100th of the speed.
So, potentially it could create consistent reffing which would then allow players and coaches to teach and adjust to what is and what isn't a foul. Instead of that changing each and every game.
It would also keep a flow to the end of games which human refs can't even do.
Kings just signed another PG in George Hill. Not sure Frank makes the roster anymore. On the bright side that would mean he gets out of Sacramento. Also means his summer league play is now twice as important.
Better idea than the broadcast one.
@Red.Rooster Alzheimer's runs in my family as well. My Great Grandpa lived until he was 88. I didn't get to know him too well, but everything I heard about him was the stuff of legends. I wish I had gotten to know him.
I don't know if you have any grandkids or great grandkids (i'm sure you have at least grandkids), but I suggest maybe starting a video diary of some sort. Those days when you go outdoors, just take a couple of short videos here and there. Some thoughts. Things you do that you enjoy. Anything you can think of. I know that I would have killed to have seen my Grandpa out fishing. Or, it sounds dumb, but even a step by step video on how to change parts on a car. Him building the birdhouses that still are outside my great grandma's house today. Him playing pool (he was quite the shark back in the day, although when I played him, he couldn't remember whether he was stripes or solids and would usually hit the wrong ball in. Still, the shots were damn impressive).
It is just a suggestion. But, that way, as your memory fades, your grandchildren or even Great grandchildren will still be able to see who you really were. Because I did want memories with him like my mom and sister and cousins got to have. Or at least have gotten to see him while he still had some spark plugs working. But all that I am left with is a few short memories and the fact that every single time I would go see him, and I mean every single time, someone would ask him "Pa, how ya doin?"
And his response, with a smile was, "Pretty good, for an old man."
Daytons biggest mistake as a GM was letting Ervin Santana walk. We keep him and we probably don't trade for Cueto. So we still have Finny for our 5th starter. So we also still have Dyson. We wouldn't have signed Ian Kennedy either, so we would have been able to afford Zobrist probably. I think we wouldn't have signed Moss so we would have another $12m to play with.
Starting rotation would be:
- Duffy
- Vargy
- Santana
- Hammel
- Finny
Hard to believe we let him walk for so cheap.
Big weekend for our boys. Puts us only a half game out of the wildcard. 23 games until the trade deadline and a TOUGH 23 game stretch at that. Red Sox and Dodgers both away.
To be honest, it has been fun. But if we don't keep the division within 5 games and the wildcard within 3, it will be time to sell off pitching. Vargas will be too much of a haul to pass up. Minor is as good as gone.
On the bright side, we would have Karns and Duffy back so we wouldn't be completely giving up. But you can't let the deadline go by without taking Vargas offers. He could be worth 3 very good prospects.
Both bring about the same thing to the table. Kind of weird that they would sign both. I think they can both exist though. Grizzlies are OLD AS DIRT in NBA terms so I think they are looking for high upside guys that are cheap. BMac and Selden are both that.
B-Mac is with the Grizz too now!
@DoubleDD The more that comes out, the better the firing sounds. He was unorganized and a bit of a wildcard.
Dorsey will land on his feet and Chiefs will too. It was actually a great time to move on from him. The roster is basically set at this point so the new GM will have time to get familiar before he has to make too many important decisions.
@approxinfinity Well that blew up in my face... Who knew you could get PG for a bag of smashed crackers?
Also, I'm confident LBJ has a no trade clause. He has CLE by the balls and will use them as he pleases...
And CLE should be greatful. Is he not the reason they won their first championship?
@Kcmatt7 Really just keep coming back to this Celtics trade. If Hayward spurns the Celtics, they would be willing to make that trade I think.
Clippers sounds good too...
Love and JR for Deandre Jordan and Mbah a Moute.
- GH
- Mbah
- LBJ
- PG
- DJ
That D is sick. Pick and roll LBJ and DJ. Jeeeeeeze
Kryie, J.R., 2 First Round Picks and Love for Gobert, PG, GH and Thadeus Young.
Sweeten the Pot with Korver or Shumpert?
Cavs Starting Lineup:
- GH
- LBJ
- PG
- TY
- Gobert
I just expect the Cavs to land PG and another really long defensive player. I kind of expect the finals this year to be the best O ever vs. The best D ever.
If they can land another 6'8 wing, how do you score against CLE?
They could easily throw Love in to sweeten the pot for PG, but only if Thadeus Young comes with PG and Hill.
@Kcmatt7 Oooh. Good trade here. Covington, Okafor, Justin Anderson and Stauskas for Love.
Philly starting lineup:
- Fultz
- Henderson (Hopefully B-Mac instead)
- Simmons
- Love
- Embiid
Makes both teams much better. Covington gives Cavs great D. Okafor gives them some actual offense down low and a solid pick and roll guy. Anderson is good D off the bench. And Stauskas might be able to actually hit a 3 if he is as open as LBJ and PG would get him.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Is it really his fault if players don't pan out? Isn't Bill the one who watches these guys and picks the ones he wants out? Then he sends the minions to do his bidding?
I like the trade. A lot. Plus minus when LBJ wasn't on the floor during the finals was absurd. Need someone else who can carry a team. If they pull that trade off, the Cavs offseasons is just getting started. Expect them to deal Love ,JR and Korver for another star and most likely a defense first 3PT specialist like Andre Roberson or Danny Green. Cap room relief would allow them a lot more flexibility next off season when LBJ bails on them or the ability to resign George.
I still think Love could be dealt to the Celtics for a number of guys. I could see a Love, JR, Korver and draft picks for a Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley/Marcus Smart too.
Cavs learned they need to get more athletic to be able to compete with GSW. Putting 3 or 4 guys that are 6'8 on the floor all at once could accomplish that.
@JayHawkFanToo I know he was. I just don't think that he wants to again. He learned there is no job security and it isn't a very cushy gig. At least, that is my thoughts.
But, I could see a scenario where he wants to do both. That does make sense.
St. Louis needs to try to be a host city for the Champions Classic. Not sure they have a great venue to do it though.
If his agent is smart, he is using it as a way to get a raise. But it kind of backfired when the Knicks shot him down.
Personally I think he did want the job. I think Cal has a desire to be in the NBA. But not as a coach. He wants a GM job. If he can get out of coaching and traveling, he is going to do it. I just don't think he has the experience to ever get a GM job offer.
@HighEliteMajor Isn't sleeping with your Ex-Wife a bit of a cliche?
To me, sounds like our Ex didn't realize how good they had it. Thought we would fall apart when she broke up with us. Then she found out we are just fine without her and wants us back. She saw that we were fine and have other ladies after us. WSU, ISU, and KSU are all there for us. Sure, maybe we don't have the history with all of them, but they make a pretty good omelet in the morning.
And little did your ex know, they wouldn't have any suitors after they dumped you. She was invited into this fancy group of people with a lot more money, only to get dumped on. They weren't really her friends. They weren't interested in her. They simply used her because she knew some people (the KC Market). Now, they couldn't care less about her. So she is now lonely and misses us. So she is doing everything she can to get us back. But we are strong.
Thank God Bill Self is our conscience, because I would have jumped right back in the sack.
@wissox Agreed. I WANT to play Mizzou. But at the same time, let's not prop them up. They are shooting themselves in the foot on an almost weekly basis. Once the dust has settled, they very well might be the #2 school in Missouri in enrollment. Might not be the team to keep a rivalry with. In 5 years, Missouri State might be the team to pick up the border war with...
@brooksmd I cannot believe how seriously bad of an idea that is. That they even thought of it. OR, that they think it would make any money. Imagine the law suit from a parent once the first student gets hurt by someone staying in these dorms. It is a $5m lawsuit coming and even more bad press. I almost can't wait.
I love when adults use elementary-level reverse psychology on other adults. I'm sure Bill is all riled up now...
@Crimsonorblue22 Duff should be back around the All Star Break. Karns is also supposed to come back. Although I think Strahm could cement himself in the rotation. He'll be given the chance to do that at least. Might actually work better for the R's. Karns can bump mid-upper 90s coming out of the pen. It could be what i like to call, the Wade Davis experiment.
Basically knew we would lose 2 of 3 the way the starting rotations fell for this series. On the bright side, we can jump the Twins by Sunday if all goes well. Really need to take at least 3 of the 4 from them before a TOUGH road stretch. Dodgers have to cool off at some point though.
After listening too the whole video, I'm just not sure of the validity.
@BShark I guess its easier for some people to blame the person recruiting them in order to rationalize the decision of a 17 or 18 year old kid.
@mayjay Now this is a chippy thread right here.
@Statmachine This is the layer that the ShoeCo theory has been missing. How they separate themselves. It's genius.
@BeddieKU23 Isn't Snacks the reason that the Chicago pipeline has sort of reopened? He landed Cliff and Jacobs. Is he really doing much worse than anyone else recruiting?
Well this is interesting for sure...
