@approxinfinity Yea that shot aint it... Doesn't mean it can't be fixed, but in it's current form it isn't going to do anything. Sad thing is that Self basically doesn't make that his business. Garrett had four years to work on a jumper. He is literally just a jumper away from being an NBA player and nearly unguardable quite honestly. But nope. Here we are. So I don't really expect Harris to ever develop past a .350 shooter from deep on very few attempts.

I'd like to see Harris get a little bit more aggressive but that just comes with confidence. He realistically shouldn't even be in the position where he has to play more than 5-10 mpg until he is like a junior or senior... The perfect program guy. It is just unfortunate that he is the only PG on the roster at the moment.

Okay but for serious - this lineup is probably the best they can run out there. Just no other combination that has really shown it poses a real matchup problem. Enaruna, Garrett and Wilson are our three best finishers in the paint. They really should be playing on the floor together more.

They really do almost need to go the transfer route and find someone who can play day one vs a freshman.

We just need to get to the Spring. Coaching carousel will shake out some guys.

@BeddieKU23 I just feel like outside of Wilson, nobody really made a major leap this offseason. You could say maybe Ochai did with his 3pt shot, but when you don't have anyone who can drive to get him open it isn't as valuable as it should be.

A note - Maybe Hudy was even better than we all thought. Look at what UT has been able to do this season. Sure they are experienced, but they have made a major stride since last season. Just something to monitor going forward...

I'd have though returning as much experience as we did that Covid would have been an advantage for this team. Not a hinderance.

We just don't have the horses this year. It is that simple. Someone will have to have a Malik Newman type of midseason turnaround for this team to get any better. And the guy it would maybe come from is hurt.

It is really disappointing, but I do think this team has a lot of promise and talent if they can just get a capable guard in this offseason.

This is one we need a nice 15 point win to get some mojo back. But i doubt that’s how it goes

@FarmerJayhawk well we are 9th in the league (235th in the nation) in 2pt% so I'm not exactly sure they aren't on to something...

I'd legitimately rather watch this particular team put up 30+ threes a game than watch whatever it is we've called an offense so far this season.

It would be different if you thought that we were just finishing poorly, but capable of finishing in the lane better. We aren't though. This team is shooting as efficiently from 2 as I think they are capable of (unless you start playing big and putting Enaruna and Wilson on the floor together which Bill I believe said he doesn't like to do). So the only way for the offense to even try to compete is to shoot and manufacture more 3s.

@Marco I don’t expect Jossell or TGF to be back personally.

Enaruna 50-50 could go either way.

Self is not one to second guess. Who is the last player to win a starting job and then not have it the next season?

Even if Enaruna was practicing better and playing better, Braun and Wilson are just ahead of him on the Self totem pole. So no matter what he does he won’t start. Not even next year.

Bill Self is starting and damn near playing no PG even though we have an adequate one because Bill Self is the stubborn Bill Self we know and love. He HAS to play those starting five no matter what. Do we know why? No really. Is it logical? Nope. Would Braun be fine off the bench? Absolutely. Has Wilson sucked it up for like three weeks now? Yep.

But here we are halfway done with the season and this team has made basically no adjustments since the first game. So I don’t see it changing now. And Enaruna knows this too.

He could start at 250+ other D1 schools if he transferred. I know that all of us would be Mitch Lightfooots and do everything we could to stay at KU. But Enaruna didn’t even grow up in the states. He literally moves across the ocean to come play basketball and get his opportunity. I don’t fault him at all if he leaves, even if I desperately want him to stay.

Unless his off-season plan is to go full T-Rob and work 16 hours a day for 5 months, he is never going to play over Jalen who is technically in the class below him now. So, the reality is that there is no avenue for Enaruna to start at KU unless he literally gets so good that Bill can’t NOT play him.

And we can pretend like coaches don't tamper, but there I'm sure there is a way to get word to a kid from another program.

And to @nuleafjhawk your point, I think he could be getting more time at UNC, UK or Duke this year than KU... Just to throw that out there.

I'm starting to think it is about time to fully commit to the zone and play a rotation of basically 6.

Garrett, Harris, Braun, Ochai, Enaruna and Wilson. Let that team use their length/quickness to jump some passing lanes and launch 25+ threes

He took the worst job in CBB and turned them into a title contender. And he’s only 50 years old.

I do think another name will appear who’s hound and makes sense. But Scott Drew deserves a little respect behind his name.
