Embiid had 35 points, 18 rebounds, and 3 assists tonight.
Boy, where's Dedric tonight?

Wow, christmas just came early on that call.
I mean, if karma exists we should probably get a few more of those this game.
Doke got a foul!
Good pass, though, Charlie.
I'm thinking Fran has a Niang poster in his bedroom.
Thank the Lord for Vick tonight.
Thank you for not dribbling, Doke.
That needs to be points.
Oh Vick!
Holy shit!
Nice move by Lamb.
Honestly I think the offense is getting good looks right now, just not making them. And on the other end Vermont is making 3's.
At least we know what we'll get from Q from game to game.
If we play Duke he'll probably go for 50.
I'm trying not to complain, but Doke is getting fouled.
I wonder if Self had some motivational words for Vick after the Michigan St. game.

@KirkIsMyHinrich true. He made that screen not useless. Nobody else even pretended to use the screen.
True. We could use that Frank Mason guy tonight.
Good defense, Vick.
Nice take, Garrett.

Self is to blame here too. POOR coaching.
lol chill
Nice pass, Q

@KirkIsMyHinrich yep
Maybe we should start a fundraiser to send you to all of the tournament games.
I don't want Kansas to lose, but this is good for them.
It's not a 14-0 run. Doke scored.
Not a travel.

Why did Vick change his number? He was 2 last year if I aint mistaken
When Vick declared, Charlie took his number.
Good thing Vick made that lol
I will not complain about things today.
Let's go Jayhawks
Luke Maye and Dedric Lawson are almost the same player. But Luke Maye looks like a werewolf.
You're absolutely right that Gonzaga is going to miss Killian Tillie in that game. I like Gonzaga's chances, even with Tillie out. They're an experienced team that will spread the floor, execute on offense, and not turn the ball over. In 2 games (against no one) they're averaging 112 points and 9.5 turnovers per game, which is great.
I don't think Auburn will be disciplined enough to beat Duke, but they could give them a test.
Iowa St. and Arizona are both in the field too. Arizona is 2-0 with a decent roster. I don't really understand why they only received 2 votes. Iowa St would be more exciting to watch if they weren't missing half of their roster.
The polls are so reactionary right now. It will all sort itself out. Duke has a few tough games coming up in the Maui invitational (probably Auburn in the 2nd round and Gonzaga in the championship game), so we'll see.
Michigan St. 106 - Florida Gulf Coast 82
Nick Ward (25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists) is very happy not to be playing against Doke.
Michigan St. is looking good against FGCU. Up 59-35 at halftime.

Duke 67 ARMY 61 with 12 minutes to play. MAYBE KENTUCKY SUCKS.
With Kentucky needing free throws to beat SIU at Rupp, and Duke looking mortal today against Army, I think we can say that the annihilation in the champions classic game was in large part due to Kentucky sucking, and not so much Duke being so good that they could beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. Duke looked today pretty much how I expected them to look before the season began; Cam, RJ, and Zion doing a lot and the rest of the team not doing much. Thank goodness we don't need to cancel the season and just give Duke the national title right now.
They didn't keep block stats. Suffice it to say Wilt had plenty. So did Russell.
If Butler clashes with anyone I think it will be Simmons for not working on his jump shot. Embiid works his tail off.
I don't think it's a bad trade for Philly, Butler is still a good player when he's motivated. And I think he'll fit in okay personality-wise with the Sixers.
My issue with this is if I'm Philly I'd rather trade Fultz than Saric. But from a Minnesota standpoint I'm happy to get Saric. Covington is also a good player, especially defensively. And he can shoots 3's. Great trade for Minny.
Kentucky has PTSD.
Marquette could be ranked in the Top 25 when they play Kansas. They play at Indiana next Wednesday so we'll find out more about them then.
Tennessee will probably be ranked in the top 5 if/when they play Kansas. That will be a monster game.
If Nova beats Michigan next Wednesday they have a good chance to be undefeated when they come to Lawrence and that could be another top 5 matchup.
Tall cotton indeed.
West Virginia?
Kansas turned the ball over only 11 times yesterday, which was much better than the 20+ turnovers in each of their exhibition games. And probably at least like half of those turnovers were from trying to do too much in transition. The ball movement and shot selection in the half-court were very good. I really enjoyed the inside-out play that I saw last night.
Dedric Lawson still dominated the game when his shots weren't falling. 14 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and he got to the line 12 times. He still had 20 points, and if the rims were a little bit more friendly he could have easily had 30 points. I was really happy with the way Dedric played. He took good shots; I only thought that 1 or 2 were forced.
Doke had a bad shooting night by his standards (only 70% from the field), but he collected 17 points, 4 blocks, and 3 rebounds in 20 minutes. He also completely took Ward out of his game when he was on the floor (2-8, 9 points, 5 rebounds, 5 turnovers on the game). Free throws are still an issue but his stroke genuinely looks better. His late misses at the line were just a little long off the back of the rim, which is a much more comfortable miss for me. I thought Self should have taken him out of the game a little earlier at the end.
Q looked pretty confident in the game, didn't look passive. He had 21 points (18 of which were from 3). He also had 4 assists and played solid defense. I loved that he made 3's, but I'm not sure the 3's will be falling for him every night. My only complaint is that I would have liked to see Grimes drive and rebound a little more (he only had 1 rebound). But Dedric is a rebounding vortex so maybe that's a little unfair.
Dotson looked very comfortable with the ball in his hands, didn't really look like a freshman (other than transition). He made good passes, took good shots and made them, and was comfortable with the ball in his hands when the game got close at the end. I think that's a big thing. Some guys look like deer-in-the-headlights in those kind of situations, but Devon looked like he wanted the ball. I'm so happy we have him.
Vick needs to play better.
Liked Garrett mostly but he picked up 4 fouls in 14 minutes. I don't know if that was because there was a quick whistle yesterday or if he needs to do a better job of defending without fouling. I do know that the team as a whole needs to play better transition defense, though.
Moore didn't get a lot of playing-time but I still think he's valuable as a scorer off the bench. I'm sure there will be a few games this season that KU wins because of Charlie's 3-point shooting and scoring. He'll be fine.
Lightfoot and Dave were both fine in small minutes.
When you consider that Vick was 1-7 from the floor, Dedric was 5-18 from the floor, and Michigan St shot 12-23 from 3 and went to the line 35 times, but KU that still won, I think it's encouraging going forward.
Probably Duke, Kansas, Gonzaga 1,2,3 next ranking.
This isn't quite Williams-Pitino levels of obliteration, but it's in the ball park.
@wissox But your point is well-received. I'll try to reduce the amount of complaining.
@wissox I haven't counted but KU is the #1 ranked team in the country and I'm pretty sure ESPN has written like 5 times more articles about Duke and Zion than they have about Kansas.
@wissox Agreed, but mostly just for college football. ESPN owns the ACC network too. When it's college football it's SEC. When it's college basketball it's ACC.
Barrett, Reddish, and Zion are beating Kentucky 66-50 right now. Wow.
Cal can't coach.
ESPN is an ACC cheerleader.
Vitale is awful.
The refs were bad both ways tonight.
Seth Greenberg looks like Uncle Fester.
