@HighEliteMajor I am seeing what you mean. Self ran 2 sets for Greene to get an open shot. Missed both, I believe the 2nd was tipped, and that was all for the day. Svi came in later and I believe there was a set ran for him but it fell apart early and I did not see exactly how. Of course even when 3 shooter is open in the corner they tend to be ignored. I am beginning to believe that is by design rather than by chance.

The way KU took it inside early seemed to me would open up the outside and I kept waiting for them to take advantage. Was disappointed it didn't happen.

New post season uniforms unveiled... • Feb 27, 2015 03:08 PM

Well the shirts are ok....

So you love the high low? • Feb 24, 2015 04:00 PM

@jaybate-1.0 I mentioed during the game that I was watching Greene closely while he was in the game. Weber had his guys blanketing him, switching off screens and whatever it took to keep a man on him. I did not watch as closely when he was out but the D remained about the same. It was very obvious the game plan was to take away the 3 and make KU's big men do the work. Everyone knows KU has a weak spot in the middle so that is what they are going to give away. Perry made them pay for that and for awhile that was enough. We needed one of the 5's to step up none of them did. Mason felt the pressure to save the game and tried to be the hero, to no avail. I told my wife about 5 minutes left in the 2nd that it was over, only thing I've been right on this week. Kind of disappointed in that. :(

Oh and that air ball of Greene's, that was the first 3 he took at the point of the game he regularly subs in, it was wide open if somewhat deeper than normal. Can't blame Self's game plan for that, he wasn't close all night from outside, it was not a coming in at the end of the game cold hand thing.

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 04:03 AM

best hope is ksu self destructing, god knows KU has set an example of that

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 03:46 AM

was watching Greene he has having a hard time getting open. Not sure what the heck Seldon thought he had no where to go on that drive

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 03:44 AM

Alexander got a ghost foul!!

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 03:34 AM

oh for crying out loud someone needs to get free!

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 03:23 AM

This sounds bad, but I think Cliff backing off on D a bit to avoid fouls is helping his rebounding. He's not just flailing around trying to block everything and getting all out of position.

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 03:21 AM

Nice cut, nice pass

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 02:51 AM

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 02:22 AM

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 02:20 AM

WTF??? Greene?

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 02:18 AM

Nice clean up by seldon there

Kansas @ KSU Chat • Feb 24, 2015 02:15 AM

Somebody feed Perry some Wheaties??

I do believe Self was surprised to Embiid leaving. At least in the beginning of the season when all the talk was on how raw Joel was, which was quite true. I do not believe anyone thought he would improve to the point he did in one season. But even if Self thought he was OAD from the get go potential top recruits would have taken one look and said "nope, not going against that for PT".

I agree KU is in trouble at the 5. Traylor isn't big enough, Landon hasn't currently got the skills, and god(of your choice of course) only knows whats up with Cliff. He has his moments but over all he just appears clumsy and confused. I've posted on another thread a possible theory on the clumsiness but the confusion I don't get at this point of the season.

More TPA and More Rebounds • Feb 17, 2015 03:54 PM

Not sure at this point that Cliff is a good option he appears clumsy and out of touch with his body. I've posted on this before with other players and I believe it is affecting Cliff now. A stud HS player moves to D1 and finds he is no longer the biggest baddest cat on the block. He buys into getting himself "Huddyed" up and starts showing those bulging muscles, more vertical, and better conditioning to the world. However his coordination is just not with the new look he trips over his own feet, jumps higher than expected and fluffs a bunny, and just can't get out of his own way. Sound at all familiar? I think Obre was there earlier in the year but has worked through it. I think we saw it with Greene last year when he was clanking shots off the back of the rim. I went through this back in my insanity period as a long distance runner. The harder I worked the slower I got then one day running became easy and my times dropped like a rock.

I think Cliff is there now the only question is when does his head catch up with his body. When it does he will improve overnight.

@HighEliteMajor I was sitting in a corner of AFH and noticed the change. I think they need some more time getting used to this offense. There were several times Greene or Seldon popped free in front of us and stood there waving their arms for the ball. It appeared like the timing was slightly off as about the time they broke into the clear the ball would swing away creating a poor passing angle. The wild pass into the crowd was one of those times I'm talking about.

Was a great game to go to and the womens team put up a nice fight against Texas later on. Spending Valentines day in AFH is nice, and as it was the wife's idea I'm not even in trouble!

Withey in the making???? • Feb 15, 2015 07:33 PM

I was at the game and noticed something that I had seen before. When Landon came into the game the energy level of the team changed for the better. I can not tell you why but it was very evident. He might not have the skills of the other bigs but somehow he brings out the best in those around him. I for one would be happy with just that. There is an added bonus however in that the added playing time he is seeing is making a different player out of him. He is gaining in aggression and is not as likely to fumble the ball. I would say the jury is still out on Mr. Lucas's top end and I'm eager to see where he is this time next year with his skill set.

ISU Wrap: The Four Out/One In Magic • Feb 03, 2015 07:20 PM

Apology to Landon Lucas;

Mr, Lucas a few games back I mentioned that I never saw worse hands in my life. I was agitated at the time but felt like a replay of the tape would justify my comments. Well in the games since I've noticed those hands are working just fine. Sorry about that hasty judgement!

Seriously though, Landon may not be the stud super talented big man but talk about somebody that with very limited floor experience is coming in and giving valuable minutes. His D is improving, he's drawing fouls, spacing the floor nicely, and when given the chance scoring. His improvement is largely overshadowed by others and he still has a ways to go to be a rotation player. But it is sure nice to see we have someone that won't hurt the team when the situation call for it. Particularly when like last night Cliff just seemed out of sorts and Jamari had periods of time he could not get out of his own way.

Cliff Alexander Height Alert? • Jan 31, 2015 12:31 AM

@JayHawkFanToo Soooo I'm actually 6'3" or taller? Dang I thought I was too short to play D1!!

That was a horrid call not being a flagrant rivaled only by the call on Seldon moments before when he waved at a cutter going in for a layup. I ranted for some time on my belief that someone was working diligently to make sure KU did not cover the spread!

They blew ball out of bounds calls, even on one they reviewed. I could clearly see who it went off of, not Graham, perhaps my tv is better than theirs I know my eyesight isn't! Then there was the supposed tie up of Graham where the TCU guy grabbed his shoulders to turn him so he could reach the ball! I was livid and spouting so much wrath my wife glared at me and went to bed!

However a win is a win and JB you called this game plan pretty dang good! I do wish Frank had not had to turn it up quite as much as he did however.

The RPI is a tool to measure the capability of a team. However it is only one of many such tools and I think those that take it seriously on it's own have a flawed view of the world.

A more balanced approach is needed. I consider W/L, RPI, and a Ouija Board to determine my picks.

KU vs TCU chat • Jan 29, 2015 03:24 AM

I expected them to be in a conserve energy mode on offense but you still gotta play D. Also I believe Lucas has the worst hands ever!
